Clifford Rudolph “Buddy” Vass, 69, of Mount Airy died August 13 at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center.
Surviving are his wife, Sue Nester Vass of the home; two sons, Ricky Vass and wife Pam of Pilot Mountain and Stephen Vass and wife Mildred of Mount Airy; a sister, Thermutis Hicks of Lewisville; his mother-in-law, Ethel Nester of Mount Airy; and three grandchildren, Carrie, Casey and Brandon Vass.
Funeral services were held at Crooked Oak Baptist Church with Rev. Bailey Elmore officiating, and burial followed at Crooked Oak Cemetery.

Mary Foy Blackburn Singletary
Mary Foy Blackburn Singletary, 69, of Tar Heel died August 13 at Elizabethtown Nursing Center.
Surviving are a son, Lilbia Thomas Singletary Jr. of the home; a daughter, Mary Karen Sands and husband Alvin Thomas of Clemmons; a granddaughter, Lynzi Theresa Sands of Clemmons; a brother, George Glenn Blackburn of Elizabethtown; three sisters, Lillian Louise Barnes of Las Vegas, Nev., Nancy Katherine of Clarkton and Edna Grace Hupp of Harrells; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at Tar Heel Baptist Church with Rev. Mark Smith officiating, and burial followed in the church cemetery.

Naylor Sheek Vogler
Naylor Sheek Vogler, 84, of Advance died August 13 at Forsyth Medical Center. He was born September 4, 1919, in Davie County to Eugene and Cora Beauchamp Vogler. He retired from Hanes Dye and Finishing in 1982. He loved farming and raising beef cattle. He was a lifelong member of Advance United Methodist Church, which was very important to him. He was a friend to all and never had an enemy. He was preceded in death by five brothers, Charles, John, Alex, Frank and Jack; and five sisters, Gladys Jones, Luna Hartman, Lizzie Hartman, Augusta Cornatzer and Della Crouse.
Surviving are his wife of 52 years, Stella Mae Frye Vogler of the home; two daughters, Susan Kimball and husband Joel of Clemmons and Rebecca Vogler of Advance; two grandchildren, Emily Rebecca Kimball of Clemmons and Christopher Joel Kimball of Winston-Salem; a brother, Ed Vogler and wife Elsie of Advance; several nephews and nieces; and many friends.
Funeral services were held at Advance United Methodist Church with Rev. Harry Sammons and Rev. Dennis Marshall officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery.

Charles Edward Dalton
Charles Edward Dalton, 83, of Lewisville died August 16 at the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. He was born March 27, 1921, in Allen County, Ky., to Elbridge Howard and Bessie Mann Dalton. He attended Union Hill Baptist Church and had retired from Landreth Construction Co. with 29 years of service. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Relus Dalton.
Surviving are his wife, Juanita Holland Dalton of the home; and two faithful friends, Dot and Bob Adams of Lewisville.
A memorial service was held at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel with Rev. Freddie Moretz and Rev. David Sowers officiating.

Elizabeth Demmerle Fox
Elizabeth Demmerle Fox, 88, of Winston-Salem died August 7 at the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. She was born in East Elmhurst, Long Island, N.Y., on December 15, 1915, to the late Louis Charles and Elizabeth Ausklat Demmerle. She was formerly employed with Forsyth Technical Community College and was a member of the Walter C. Kearn Eastern Star chapter 298. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles D. Fox Jr.
Surviving are two sons, Charles D. Fox III and wife Amanda of Clemmons and Edmund L. Fox and wife Brenda of Greensboro; her grandchildren, Dyer, Austin, Barrett, Hannah, Jordan and Maggie Fox; a sister-in-law, Dorothy Demmerle of California; and a niece and two nephews and great-nieces.
A graveside service was held at Forsyth Memorial Park with Chaplain Ken Bradstock officiating.

Ada Mae Ham Jackson
Ada Mae Ham Jackson, 100, died August 15 at The Elms at Tanglewood, Clemmons. She celebrated her 100th birthday on June 18, 2004, with her family and close friends. She moved to Winston-Salem at the age of 16, where she met Edwin S. Jackson, and they were married on December 23, 1925. She was a member of Fairview Moravian Church. She was preceded in death by her husband; a daughter, Nancy A. Jackson; three sisters, Pearl Ham, Rose Tillotson and Vada Goff; two brothers, Arthur Ham and Lake Ham; and a half brother, James Ham.
Surviving are a daughter, Iris Jackson Gould and husband Ronald of Litchfield Beach, S.C.; a granddaughter, Beverly D. Gould of Austin, Texas; a grandson, Ronald Gould Jr. and wife Pamela of Meridian, Texas; and three great-grandsons, Dalton, Zane and Jett Gould of Meridian, Texas.
A graveside service was held at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens with Rev. Riddick Weber officiating.

Estelle Shelton Peeples
Estelle Shelton Peeples, 96, died September 11 at the Clemmons Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. She was born April 23, 1908, in Stokes County to the late John and Rose Shelton. She was a member of Woodland Baptist Church and was preceded in death by her husband, Jesse E. Peeples.
Surviving are a son, Wayne Peeples of Winston-Salem; two granddaughters, Renee Lawson of High Point and Shanda Peeples of Clemmons; and a great-granddaughter, Ashlyn Bledsoe.
Funeral services were held at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel with Rev. Zeno Groce officiating, and burial followed at Delta United Methodist Church Cemetery in Sandy Ridge.

Robert Glenn Boone
Robert Glenn Boone, 66, of Rutherford County died September 9 in Rutherfordton. A native of Rutherford County, he was the son of Atus L. Boone and the late Geneva Williams Boone. He was a retired construction worker and was of the Baptist faith.
Surviving are his father; his wife, Darlene M. Boone of Forest City; a daughter, Amanda Dawn Boone of North Wilkesboro; two stepsons, Bobby Dale Spainhour of Denver and Randy Lee Spainhour of Arizona; a sister, Pat Hayes of Advance; three brothers, Daniel Tim Boone of Ellenboro, Earl Boone of Clemmons and Daniel L. Boone of Advance; and a granddaughter.
A graveside memorial service was held at Rutherfordton City Cemetery with Rev. Charles R. Street officiating.

Paul Lemar Robinson
Paul Lemar Robinson, 42, of Winston-Salem, died September 8 at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center. He was born June 14, 1962 in Fort Dix, NJ to Charles Bascom and Faye Suell Robinson.
Surviving are his wife, Lynn Robinson of the home; his parents of Winston-Salem; three brothers, Chuck Robinson and wife Jennifer of Lewisville, Sam Robinson and wife Lorene of Virginia Beach, VA, and Mark Robinson and wife Tracy of Winston-Salem; two sisters, Beverly Jones and husband Bob of West Palm Beach, FL, and Cindy Heidersheit and husband Jeff of Winston-Salem; his mother-in-law, Dorothy Nowell Riley of Winston-Salem; his father-in-law, Alex Thompson and wife Susan of Advance; and a number of nieces, nephews and extended family members.
A memorial service was held at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel with Rev. Jay Caudle officiating.

Anne L. Bobbitt
Anne L. Bobbitt, 88, of Winston-Salem died September 9 at Forsyth Medical Center. She was born November 2, 1915, in Davidson County to C.J. and Sarah Tesh Leonard. She was an active member of the Ladies of the Moose, Lodge 466. She enjoyed playing cards and especially bingo. Her husband, Samuel Palmer Bobbitt, preceded her in death.
Surviving are a daughter, Jane Bobbitt Saylor and husband Jim of Lewisville; a son, Joe Bobbitt and wife Sherri of Winston-Salem; six grandchildren, Michael Saylor and wife Cheryl, Jon Saylor and wife Gaby, Britt Saylor and wife Shannon and Samantha, Gray and Christopher Bobbitt; and four great-grandchildren, Josh McGee and Garrett, Aleea and Ellie Saylor.
Funeral services were held at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel, and entombment followed at Parklawn Memorial Park.

Thomas Richard Abbott Jr.
Thomas Richard Abbott Jr., 38, of Pfafftown died recently at his home.
Surviving are his parents, Thomas and Kay Abbott of Pfafftown; his brothers, Patrick Abbott and wife Suzanne of Hartford, Conn., and Bill McKee and wife Angela of Garland, Texas; and his grandmother, Stella Abbott of Winston-Salem.
A memorial service was held at Maple Springs United Methodist Church.

Geneva Stewart Alridge
Geneva Stewart Alridge, 90, of Gastonia, died September 5 in Durham, where she had undergone open-heart surgery in June at Duke University Hospital. She was born May 6, 1914, in Forsyth County, the daughter of William Clinton Stewart and Lula Morris Stewart. She was married for 49 years and 11 months to Carl Spencer Alridge, who died in 1982. She was a member of Gastonia's First Baptist Church.
Surviving are two sons, Robert C. Alridge of Richmond, Va., and Ron Alridge and wife Dorothy of Mint Hill; five grandsons, Robert Carl Alridge III, now working in Iraq as a civilian engineer, Richard Patrick Alridge of Richmond, Va., Carl Spencer Alridge II of Mint Hill, Kerry Hahn Alridge of Richmond, Va., and Stewart Scott Alridge of Holly Springs; a granddaughter, Shelby Alridge Janko of Charlotte; a sister, Marie Stewart Merrill of Clemmons; and seven great-grandchildren, Reilly Kathleen Alridge, Ronald William Alridge II and Carlynn Denise Alridge, all of Mint Hill, Cassandra Leigh Janko and Michael Tyler Janko, both of Charlotte, Brandon Owen Alridge of Holly Springs, and Rhiannon Jeannette Alridge of Richmond, Va.
Funeral services were held at Founders Chapel at McLean Funeral Directors in Gastonia with her nephew, Dr. Wilson Stewart, officiating. Burial followed in Gaston Memorial Park.

Alyne Reich Griffith
Alyne Reich Griffith, 91, formerly of Winston-Salem died September 9 at Vienna Village in Pfafftown. She was born October 22, 1912, in Forsyth County to John Cicero Reich and Ophelia Phillips Reich. She spent most of her life in Winston-Salem and had also lived in Charlotte and Roanoke, Va. She was a schoolteacher for private schools. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Winston-Salem and was very active in the community. She was also a volunteer at N.C. Baptist Hospital.
Surviving are a daughter, Helen Longworth Huntley and husband Bob of Ridgecrest, CA.
Funeral services were held at Vogler’s Reynolda Road Chapel with Dr. David M. Hughes officiating, and burial followed at Forsyth Memorial Park.

Richard Leonard James
Richard Leonard James, 73, of Statesville died September 4 at his home following a period of declining health. A native of Chicago, Ill., he was born October 26, 1930, to the late Frank Padfield James and Julia Schwuchow James. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, and on July 13, 1957, was married to Jane “Sue” Holburn Bryden James. He served with the U.S. Army in Amberg, Germany, from 1957 to 1959 and established his medical practice in Valders, Wis., from 1959 to 1964. From 1964 to 1967 he served his medical residency in obstetrics and gynecology at Lutheran Hospital in Milwaukee, Wis. From 1967 to 1976 he practiced in South Milwaukee, Wis. He returned to active duty with the U.S. Army as a Lt. Col. at Fort Leavenworth, Kan., from 1976 to 1978 as an OB-GYN physician and from 1978 to 1980 was stationed in Bremerhaven, Germany. From 1980 to 1984 he practiced OB-GYN for R.J. Reynolds Health Care in Winston-Salem, where Dr. and Mrs. James made their home until 2001. He established a general practice in King from 1984 to 2001. He was head of Hospice in Stokes County and held several offices in the N.C. Medical Society. He and his wife moved to Statesville in 2001. He was an avid lover of music, sports and the Outer Banks of North Carolina.
Surviving are his wife; a son, Rick James and former wife Vicki of Lewisville, and their children, Trevor, Katelyn and Hannah James of Lewisville; a daughter, Connie J. Morrison and husband Bobby of Statesville, and their children, Suzanne and Amanda Morrison of Statesville; a son, Chris James and wife Missy of Salisbury, and their children, Carson and Mayson James of Salisbury; a sister, Mary J. Tyrey and husband Lee of Durham; a nephew, Scott Tyrey and wife Mary of Raleigh; a niece, Ann T. Payne and husband John of Raleigh; and a nephew, Marc Tyrey and wife Kelly of High Point.
A memorial funeral service was held at Nicholson Funeral Home Chapel in Statesville with Rev. Bobby Henderson officiating.

David Harrison Moser
David Harrison “Moe” Moser, 51, of Lewisville died January 16 at his home. He was born May 3, 1953, in Forsyth County to Mr. and Mrs. Paul Moser. He formerly worked at Hauser Rental for 27 years. He enjoyed hunting and fishing along with numerous other outdoor activities. He was accomplished at shooting trap skeet and rifles and teaching others. He will also be remembered as a fine musician. He was a member of Warner’s Chapel Church of Christ. His father and a brother, Mike Moser, preceded him in death.
Survivinga re his mother, Johnsie Pegram Moser; his wife of 31 years, Brenda Raye Moser; a daughter, Rene Elizabeth Moser, all of the home; a brother, Wayne Moser,and wife Carolyn; a sister, Gale Queen and husband David; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at Warner's Chapel Church of Christ with Todd Hinson officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery.

Paul Anthony Anderson
Paul Anthony Anderson, 37, of Pfafftown died January 17. He was born April 1, 1967, in Forsyth County, where he lived all his life. When growing up he played for multiple Little League football, basketball and baseball teams. He loved fishing and camping at the beach and playing board games with Tracy and his children. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in King.
Surviving are his fiancee, Tracy Couse; parents Jerry and Janie Anderson; children Erika and Ty Anderson; brother Brian Anderson and wife, Paige; niece Hannah Anderson; stepbrother Ricky Anderson; and stepsister Andrea Anderson and her children, Jayson Harris and Crystal Norman.
Funeral services were held at Calvary Baptist Church in King with Rev. Roger Baker and Rev. Scott Vernon officiating. Burial followed at Forsyth Memorial Park.

Kaiden Lane Majerick
Infant Kaiden Lane Majerick of Madison died January 12 at Women’s Hospital of Greensboro.
Surviving are her parents, Jamie Patrick Majerick and Holly Nicole Mabe; grandparents Peggy Mahaffey and husband Duane of Madison, Richard Mabe and wife Bobbie of Lewisville and Robert and Dianne Majerick; great-grandparents, Shirley Mabe and Shirley and Frank Mitchell; and uncles and aunts Tim Pridgen, Michael and Colleen DePuew, Matthew Majerick, Scott Majerick, Jennifer Gosnell and Corey Shires.
A graveside service was held at Oak Grove Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Harold Gearhart and Rev. Ricky Atkins officiating.

Kermit Garwood Gibson Sr.
Kermit Garwood “Tom” Gibson Sr., 79, of Pfafftown died January 11 at Forsyth Medical Center. He was born May 6, 1925, in Iredell County to Charles and Hattie Eads Gibson. He was a member of Pleasant Hill Methodist Church. He was a combat M.P. with the 82nd Airborne in World War II, serving in the U.S. Army. He was retired from Roadway Express. He was preceded in death by his wife, Bonnie Long Gibson.
Surviving are his children, Kermit “Jim” Gibson Jr. and wife Paula of Myrtle Beach, SC, Diann Johnson and husband Hurley of Yadkinville, Scott Gibson and wife Lori of Pfafftown, Sharon Taylor of East Bend and Steve Gibson of Pfafftown; a brother, Harold Gibson of Winston-Salem; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at the Huff Funeral Home Chapel in East Bend with Rev. Henry Cook officiating. Burial followed in the Pleasant Hill Methodist Church Cemetery.

Lucille Athan Wishon
Lucille Athan Wishon, 79, of Winston-Salem died January 11 at her home. She was born October 3, 1925, in Michigan to John Wesley and Bertha Layman Athan. She was a member of Olivet Moravian Church. She worked at Davis Department Store for 10 years before becoming co-owner of Wishon Real Estate Co. with her husband, William Barrett Wishon, who died in 2000. She was also preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Janet Whiteheart; and a brother, Herbert Athan.
Surviving are a daughter, Anita Cheek of Clemmons; two brothers, J.W. Athan and wife Doris of Winston-Salem and Wayne Athan and wife Bonnie of Virginia; a sister-in-law, Shirley Athan of Clemmons; a number of nieces and nephews; and a special caregiver and adopted family member, Pam Love of Pinnacle.
Funeral services were held at Olivet Moravian Church with Rev. Doug Rights officiating. Entombment followed in Forsyth Memorial Park Mausoleum.

Lewis Ray Allgood
Lewis Ray Allgood, 80, a lifelong resident of Clemmons, died June 1 at Forsyth Medical Center. He was born July 3, 1924, in Forsyth County to Beulah Lowder and Charles Robah Allgood. He was a member of Union Hill Baptist Church and had retired from R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Co. with 35 years of service. He was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, EmmaLee Myers Allgood; and a daughter, Darlene Allgood Wooten.
Surviving are a daughter, Betty Allgood Payne and husband Robert of Greensboro; a son-in-law, Danny Wooten of Clemmons; four grandchildren, Stephen Payne and wife Larissa of Annandale, Va., Jon Wooten and wife Kendra of Clemmons, Dory Payne Fredricksen and husband Troy of Greensboro and Alan Wooten of Clemmons; and two great-grandchildren, Jacey Wooten and Ryan Fredricksen.
A graveside service was held in Union Hill Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. R. Howard Wagoner and Rev. Justin W. Jones officiating.
