Carrie Ham Mullis
Mrs. Carrie Ham Mullis age 78 of Sparta, NC died Saturday, November 15, 2008 at her home. Mrs. Mullis was born May 14, 1930 in Ashe County to the late Carl and Lockie Stike. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Mullis and a son, John Wayne Mullis.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, November 18, 2008 at 2pm at Badger Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Lloyd Day, Rev. J.D. Walton and Rev. Hobert Dowell. Burial will follow in the Turner cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6-8pm Monday at Badger Funeral Home.
Mrs. Mullis is survived by:
5 sons: Roger Mullis and wife Marie of Laurel Springs, David Mullis of Jefferson, Robert Mullis and wife Barbara, Mason Mullis both of Sparta and Odel Taylor and wife Rita of N. Wilkesboro.
2 sisters: Bonnie Parsons and Virginia Parsons both of Sparta
1 brother: Rufus Ham of Glade Creek
17 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive.

Terry Lee Lipford
Mr. Terry Lee Lipford age 39 of Creston, NC died Thursday, November 13, 2008 at his residence. Terry was born November 16, 1968 in Ashe County to Delbert and Margaret Pennington Lipford. He was preceded in death by his father, Delbert Lipford and grandparents Rudy and Danford Pennington. He loved to hunt and fish.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, November 17, 2008 at 1:00 PM at Badger Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Anthony Roark officiating. Burial will follow in the Graybeal cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:00 - 1:00 PM prior to the service.

Willie "Bibble" Roark
Mrs. Willie Belle Roark, better known as Bibble, age 71 of Harmony, died Wednesday, November 12, 2008 at Gordon Hospice House. Mrs. Roark was born December 8, 1936 in Surry County to the late William and Flora Willard Flinchum. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Mary Lynn Roark.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 15, 2008 at 11:00 AM at Badger Funeral Home chapel with Rev. John Whalen and Rev. Tom Campbell officiating. Burial will follow in the Roark cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10 -11 AM prior to the service.

Fred Dale Carter
Mr. Fred Dale Carter age 79 of Lansing, NC died Thursday, October 30, 2008 at his residence. Mr. Carter was born on January 19, 1929 to the late Arthur and Rosa Hartzog Carter. Fred was well known in the Lansing community having resided there with his wife Nell since 1970. Fred grew up in the Little Windfall area and graduated from Lees McRae. After working for a short time in Maryland, he returned to the area and went to work for Sprague Electric where he retired after 37 years of dedicated service. Fred was known by all for his hard work and dedication to anything that he did. He was always willing to give of himself and to lend a hand to anyone in need. After retirement Fred took great pleasure in watching his grandsons playing various sports especially baseball.
Fred was an elder of the Foster Memorial and later of the Lansing Presbyterian Church for over 50 years where he attended faithfully until his passing. He held several offices in the church including treasurer.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 1, 2008 at 2pm at Badger Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Dwight Barker officiating. Burial will follow in Ashelawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 12:30-2:00pm Saturday prior to the service at Badger Funeral Home.
Left behind to cherish his memory are his wife of 51 years, Nell Davis Carter of the home and son Tim, wife Robin and grandsons Dylan and Corey of Glendale Springs. One brother, Dean Carter of California and one sister, Kathleen Rouse of Oveida Florida also survive. The family asks that memorials be made to Lansing Presbyterian Church or to a charity of the donor’s choice.

Virgie Rash
Mrs. Virgie Jane Rash, age 92 of Glendale Springs, NC, died Monday, October 27, 2008 at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center. Mrs. Rash was born June 29, 1916 in Ashe County to the late Adam and Callie Davis Snyder. In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by her husband: Joseph Daniel Rash, daughter: Mary Jean Loggins and grandson: Michael Loggins.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Friday, October 31, 2008 at Three Top Baptist Church by Rev. Ronda Rash, Rev. Russell Sheets and Rev. Sonny Thomas. Burial will follow in the Rash cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 PM Thursday, Oct. 30th at Badger Funeral Home.

Rebekah Badger
Mrs. Rebekah Melba Badger, age 66 of Hollywood, FL, formerly of Ashe County, died Tuesday, October 21, 2008 in FL. Mrs. Badger was born November 2, 1941.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, October 25, 2008 at the Jefferson cemetery.

Delmar Osborne
Mr. Delmar William Osborne, age 79 of Creston, the Little Laurel Community died Wednesday, October 22, 2008 at Watauga Medical Center. Mr. Osborne was born June 29, 1929 in Ashe County to the late Elbert and Caldona Roark Osborne. In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by brothers: Harold and Wade Osborne, sisters: Ethel Osborne and Faye Hammons. Mr. Osborne attended Hammons Chapel Christian Church in Mtn. City. He enjoyed painting, working on the farm and spending time with his family.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM Saturday, October 25, 2008 at Badger Funeral Home by Rev. Mike Smith. Burial will follow in the Osborne cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 PM Friday, Oct. 24th at Badger Funeral Home.

Bernice Betty Weaver Wyrick
Mrs. Bernice Betty Weaver Wyrick, age 77 of West Jefferson, NC died October 14, 2008 at her residence.Mrs. Wyrick was born May 29, 1931 in Lansing to the late Don and Ethel Pruitt Weaver. She was a seamstress at Jefferson Apparel. She was a member at Union Baptist Church. She enjoyed gardening and spending time with her grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, October 19, 2008 at 3:00pm at West Jefferson First Baptist Church with Rev. Ken Morris and Rev. Michael Lea officiating. Burial will follow in the West Jefferson City cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 2-3pm Sunday prior to the service at the church.
Mrs. Wyrick is survived by, her daughter: Pamela Robbins and husband Dr. Robert of Randleman, NC, one brother: Wayne Weaver of Lansing, one sister: Jean Powers of Lansing, 6 grandchildren, Colby, Carter, Kirby, Cooper, Kyndal and Konner Robbins and several nieces and nephews also survive.

Mr. Donald Lee Combs age 75 of West Jefferson, NC died Thursday, October 16, 2008 at Ashe Memorial Hospital. Mr. Combs was born
February 26, 1933 in Ashe County to the late John and Vergie Eldridge Combs.
