Neal Thomas Goodman
Mr. Neal Thomas Goodman age 84, of Charlotte, NC died on Wednesday, August 25, 2010 at Carolinas Medical Center. Mr. Goodman was born on April 16, 1926 in Ashe, NC to the late J. V. and Nora Wallace Goodman. Mr. Goodman enjoyed coming back to his childhood home in Ashe to spend time with his family.
Graveside services will be held on Friday, August 27, 2010 at 1:00 PM at the Bethany United Methodist Church cemetery with military rites.
Mr. Goodman is survived by his wife of 66 years, Gladys Greer Goodman
One brother: Gene Goodman of West Jefferson, NC
One sister: Erma Middleton of Clemmons
several nieces and nephews.

James Delmer Graybeal
Mr. James Delmer Graybeal age 81 of Warrensville, NC died Thursday, August 26, 2010 at his home. Mr. Graybeal was born November 10, 1928 in Ashe County to the late James and Laura Graybeal. In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by 10 brothers & sisters. He was a member of the Warrensville United Methodist Church. He loved his family, his church, working in timber and watching car racing.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 28, 2010 at 2:00 PM at Badger Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Greg Plott and Rev. Tom Graybeal. Burial will follow in the Brown cemetery on Rich Hill. The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM Friday, August 27th at Badger Funeral Home with testimonials and Celebration of Life Service to follow at 8:00 PM by Rev. John Duvall, Rev. Charlie McCoy, Rev. Bob Roten and Rev. Thomas Russell.

Jincy Flora Dell Waddell Testerman
Mrs. Jincy Flora Dell Waddell Testerman age 93, of Grassy Creek, NC died on Saturday, August 21, 2010 at her home. Mrs. Testerman was born on May 18, 1917 in Grayson, VA to the late Charlie and Rosa Walton Waddell. Mrs. Testerman was preceded in death by Father, Charlie Waddell, Mother, Rosa Waddell, husband, John B. Testerman, 5 sisters and one brother. Mrs. Testerman loved to garden, do needle work, make apple butter and cook. She was a hard worker and loved all of her family.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, August 24, 2010 at 2:00 PM at the Badger Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Peter Parish and Rev. Lindsay McGrady. Burial will follow in Helton Community cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM on Tuesday prior to the service.
Mrs. Testerman is survived by: 6 Sons - Charles Testerman and wife Barbara of Moneta, VA, Joe Testerman and wife Jane of Mooresville, NC, Norman Testerman and wife Billie of Laurel Springs, NC, Ralph Testerman and fiancée Brenda Reeves of Lansing, NC, Johnnie Testerman and wife Kathy of Bare Creek, NC, Jerry Testerman and wife Millie of Grassy Creek, NC, 4 Daughters - Dorothy "Dot" Testerman of Grassy Creek, NC, Pat McGrady and husband Richard of Mouth Of Wilson, VA, Madge Rash of Lansing, NC, Nancy Ann Lewis and husband Charlie of Crumpler, NC, 1 Sister - Kathleen Hart of Paradise, PA, a special niece who was like her sister, Leunias Lewis of New Castle, DE, brother - George Waddell of Lansing, NC, also surviving are 17 grandchildren, 4 step-grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, 21 step great-grandchildren, 7 great great-grandchildren, 9 step great great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Vera Lucille Brewer
Verna Lucille Brewer age 90 of West Jefferson died Friday, August 13, 2010 at Margate Health and Rehab in Jefferson, NC. A native of Watauga County, Verna was born to Ruby and Arvilla Minton Brewer.
She is survived by two sisters, Bernice Brewer of West Jefferson and Margaret Hodge of Elizabethton, TN and a host of nieces and nephews.
She attended the National Bible Institute in New York City and Appalachian State Teachers College in Boone, NC. She worked at ASU and also Trailway Cleaners.
A private memorial and graveside service will be held. Entombment will follow in Ashelawn Memorial Gardens Mausoleum of Prayer.
The family request no visitors please.

Mable Clark Hart
Mrs. Mable Hart age 91 of Lansing, NC the Big Windfall Community died Thursday, August 12, 2010 at her home. Mrs. Hart was born March 5, 1919 in Ashe County to the late Harvey and Mary Clark. In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by her husband, Luther Hart, brother, Hunter Clark and sister, Aldean Burtoft. She loved working on the farm and being outdoors. She was a member of Lansing Presbyterian Church.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Sunday, August 15, 2010 at Badger Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Lloyd Day and Rev. Dwight Barker. Burial will follow in the
Hart – Ham cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 -2:00 PM prior to the service.

Mrs. Ilene Faw Edwards, age 83 of West Jefferson, NC died Tuesday, August 10, 2010 at Glenbridge Health & Rehab. Mrs. Edwards was born December 2, 1927 in Ashe County to the late Jacob and Edna Poe Faw. In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by her husband, Ward Edwards and son, Larrry Edwards.
Private graveside services were held at 11:00AM, Friday, August 13, 2010 in the Calloway cemetery.

Alton Breece Sturgill
Mr. Alton Breece Sturgill, age 79 of Lansing, NC, died Wednesday, August 4, 2010 at his home. Mr. Sturgill was born October 7, 1930 in Ashe County to the late Carl and Blannie Spencer Sturgill. In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by two sisters: Ruth Sturgill and Neva Nobles and brother: John Sturgill.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM Sunday, August 8, 2010 at Badger Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Mitchell Mash, Rev. Johnny Johnson and Josh Sturgill. Burial will follow in the Spencer cemetery with military rites. The family will receive friends from 1:00 – 3:00 prior to the service.

Mrs. Louella Staley, age 66 of Glendale Springs, NC died Monday, August 2, 2010 at Ashe Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Staley was born October 4, 1943 in Wilkes County to the late Fieldon & Flossie Jordan Roten.

Joseph Lester Stanley
Mr. Joseph Lester Stanley, age 76 of Crumpler, NC died Sunday, August 1, 2010 at Forsyth Medical Center. Mr. Stanley was born June 2, 1934 in Ashe County to the late David and Nancy Arnold Stanley. Mr. Stanley served in the US Army in the Korean War.
