James H. Keicher
James H. Keicher, 83, of Lewisville died February 19 at Forsyth Medical Center. He resided at Springwood Care Center for the past five months while battling myeloma cancer. He was born December 8, 1920, in Shubta, Miss., to Jacob W. and Minervia Keicher. He served with the U.S. Army during World War II and was retired from Auto Supply, where he worked for 17 years. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Jacqueline W. Keicher; and two brothers, Andrew C. Keicher and Bearlin T. Keicher.
Surviving are a son, Douglas Keicher and wife Patricia of Winston-Salem; a brother, Jacob W. Keicher Jr. of Winston-Salem; a brother-in-law, Harold O. Watson and wife Mary of Lewisville; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at Vogler & Sons Reynolda Road Chapel, and burial followed in Woodland Cemetery.

Stanley Arthur Biedny
Stanley Arthur Biedny, 74, of Clemmons died March 9 at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center. He was born June 4, 1929, in Buffalo, N.Y., to Anthony and Stella Biedny. He was a pharmacist for 40 years in Buffalo and later in North Carolina. He was a founding member of Holy Family Catholic Church. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Alice Jablonski.
Surviving are his wife, Barbara Lach Biedny of the home; two daughters, Betty Barnes and husband Barney of Winston-Salem and Louise Wilson and husband Tony of Kernersville; a son, Robert Biedny of Kernersville; his grandchildren, Nicholas “Alex” Wilson, Evan Barnes and Sarah Wilson; and a sister, Mary Anne Bugman of Phoenix, Ariz.
A funeral Mass was held at Holy Family Catholic Church with Father Adrian Porras officiating.

Eunice Sloop Moore
Eunice Sloop Moore, 82, of Oakdale Heights in Winston-Salem, formerly of Kannapolis, died March 11 at the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. She was born in Kannapolis on June 3, 1921, to Fred G. Sloop and Mary C. Sloop. She was employed by Cannon Mills, retiring in 1983. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Kannapolis.
Surviving are her husband of 64 years, Max Neal Moore of Oakdale Heights; a daughter, Kaye Stockton and husband Perry of Clemmons; a granddaughter, Stephanie Smith and husband Robert of Kailua, Hawaii; a great-granddaughter, Perri Smith, also of Kailua, Hawaii; and a sister, Lucille Tice of Kannapolis.
Funeral services were held at Lady’s Funeral Home Chapel in Kannapolis with Dr. Thomas Cabaniss officiating, and burial followed at Carolina Memorial Park.

Mark Franklin Rogers
Mark Franklin Rogers, 45, of Rurl Hall died March 9 at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center following a period of declining health. He was born in Forsyth County on January 9, 1959, the son of Frank and Bonnie Collins Rogers. He was a member of Kingswood United Methodist Church and had recently attended Faith United Methodist Church in Rural Hall. He had worked with the Sports Marketing Division of R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Co. in the Winston Cup Racing Series.
Surviving are his wife of 23 years, Robyn Eller Rogers; a son, Jordan Rogers; a daughter, Jessica Rogers; a granddaughter, Hailie Cotton; his companion, Caesar, all of the home; his father and mother, Frank and Bonnie Rogers of Rural Hall; a brother, sister-in-law and niece, Stephen, Tina and Tori Rogers of Winston-Salem; his grandmother, Mrs. Mamie Collins; his aunt, Betty Owens, both of Westfield; his mother- in-law and father-in-law, Vi and Mack Eller of Rural Hall; a brother-in-law, Michael Eller; a nephew, Nathan and great-nephew, Nathan Jr., all of North Wilkesboro; a brother-in-law, Kelley Eller and wife Johanna and nephew Dustan, all of Clemmons; and a number of special friends, Hollis Cotton, Timothy and T.J. Sale, Joel Pruett, Zack Hayes, Kyle Givens, Will and Christi Spencer, Bobby and Libby Martinat and Kim Tilley.
Funeral services were held at Faith United Methodist Church with Rev. Gene Richardson officiating.

Hal Glenn Robbins
Hal Glenn Robbins, 78, of Hamptonville died March 9 at Hugh Chatham Memorial Hospital. He was a retired tobacco farmer and was of the Baptist faith. He was born July 25, 1925, in Iredell County to the late Charlie and Harriet Howard Robbins. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Helen Swaim Robbins, on August 25, 1993; two sisters, Mattie Campbell and Hazel Dobson; and a brother, Claude Robbins.
Surviving are his four children, Wayne Robbins and wife Wanda of Hamptonville, Laura Walker and husband Ronnie of State Road, Billy Robbins and wife Belinda of Hamptonville and Gary Robbins and wife Brenda of Elkin; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two sisters, Ruth Casstevens of Lewisville and Mozelle Whitman of Lewisville; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at Swaims Baptist Church with Rev. Randy Johnson and Rev. Craig Waldie officiating, and burial followed in the church cemetery.

Minnie Miller Wilkes
Minnie Miller Wilkes, 83, a resident of Springwood Care and formerly of Clemmons, died March 13 at Forsyth Medical Center. She was born November 12, 1920, in Florence, S.C., to Maxie McDonald and Janie Moore Miller. She was of the Baptist faith and a member of Waughtown Baptist Church Senior Citizens and New Eden Moravian Senior Citizens. She taught Sunday school for over 50 years at a number of churches. She enjoyed many crafts and was an expert seamstress. She was preceded in death by her husband, Willie J. Wilkes; a sister; and two brothers.
Surviving are four daughters, June Beeson and husband Clay of Clemmons, Ada Vernon of Pfafftown, Kathy Wilkes Sizemore of Clemmons and Agnes Caudle of Advance; two sons, Earl J. Wilkes of Winston-Salem and James G. Wilkes of Colorado; 13 grandchildren, Sherry Vernon, Wayne Vernon, Jay Blizard, April Blizard Hall, Angela Beeson Broome, Tammy Beeson Moore, William Wilkes, Sonny Caudle, Daniel Caudle, Kenan Caudle, Andy Caudle, Stephanie Fichialos and Jimmy Wilkes; several great-grandchildren; two sisters; and a special friend, Viola Cook of Wilmington.
Funeral services were held at Hayworth-Miller Chapel with Rev. Joe McWethy officiating, and burial followed in Oaklawn Memorial Gardens.

Ira Bonds
Ira Bonds, 95, of Winston-Salem died March 11 at his home. He was born January 15, 1909, in Abbeville County, S.C., to Richard and Nora Barnes Bonds. Prior to moving to Winston-Salem, he managed a grocery store in Atlanta, Ga., and later moved to Raleigh, where he worked in the insurance business for several years. In 1938 he and his wife, Gertrude, moved to Winston-Salem, where he became assistant branch manager of Gate City Insurance Co. He later worked for Rominger Furniture Co. for several years before going to Winston Furniture Co. as part owner. He retired as vice president. His main joys in life were his family and his church and he devoted many hours to each. He was a member of Ardmore Baptist Church, where he served for many years as deacon, usher and Sunday School teacher for the senior men’s class, chairman of a pulpit committee and many other positions. Always ready with a smile and a funny story to tell, he never met a stranger. He was an avid reader and a writer of poetry. In 1979 his book of poetry, Rays of Light, was published. He walked every day and made friends everywhere he went.
Surviving are his wife of 69 years, Gertrude Bonds of the home; two daughters, Miriam Bonds and husband Steve Karapetian of Clemmons and Iris Jarrell and husband Rick Jarrell of Winston-Salem; his grandchildren, Miguel Martin and wife Nicki, Kate Karapetian, Tami Mankins and husband Rick, Cris Jarrell and wife Donna and Kim Jarrell; and his great-grandchildren, Cortney Mankins, Cydney Mankins, Criston Jarrell, Ethan Jarrell and Drake Whicker.
Funeral services were held at Ardmore Baptist Church with Dr. Bill Ireland officiating, and burial followed in Forsyth Memorial Park.

Ruth Kington Shore
Ruth Kington Shore, 63, of Clemmons died March 12 at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center. She was born October 9, 1940, in Stokes County to John G. and Anna Boles Kington. She was retired from R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Co. She was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Wanda Lee Shore; and by four brothers.
Surviving are her husband, Buddy G. Shore of the home; a daughter, Christy S. Collins and husband Craig of Winston-Salem; two special granddaughters, Jessica and Shaina Barnes; and three special sisters, Sally K. Flynt of Winston-Salem, Gladys K. Joyce of Madison and Eunice K. Kozeriski of Cheltonham, Md.
A graveside service was held at Westlawn Gardens of Memory in Clemmons with Elder E.W. Hooven officiating.

Johnny Carlton Shelton
Johnny Carlton Shelton, 69, of Pinnacle, died March 11 at the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. He was born November 14, 1934, in Stokes County to the late Spencer Dee Shelton and Cassie Marsh Shelton. He retired from the N.C. Department of Transportation and was a member of Olive Grove Baptist Church.
Surviving are a daughter, Connie Shelton of Pfafftown; two sisters, Verona Johnson and husband Paul of Winston-Salem and Winifred Coleman and husband Ben of Pilot Mountain; and a brother, Tommy Shelton and wife Sharon of Mount Airy.
Funeral services were held at Olive Grove Baptist Church with Dr. Carl Childs, Rev. Carl Whittaker, Brother Don Collins and Rev. Scott Hammer officiating, and burial followed in the church cemetery.

Joseph Franklin Russell Sr.
Joseph Franklin Russell Sr., 77, of Winston-Salem died March 13 at Forsyth Medical Center. He was born in Forsyth County, a son of Harry Franklin and Lillie Stanley Russell. He served in the U.S. Air Corps during World War II and the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. He retired from Piedmont Airlines with 38 years of service and was a member of Trinity Moravian Church. He was formerly a reserve officer with the Winston-Salem Police Department, a member of the N.C. Sheriff Association and the PBA, a member of the NRA and a former member of the Civil Air Patrol.
Surviving are his wife, Mary Lou Harrell Russell of the home; a daughter, Mary Charlene “Chon” Russell Gonzalez and husband Gerardo of The Woodlands, Texas; four sons, Joseph Franklin “Butch” Russell Jr. and wife Mary of King, N.C., William Todd “B.B.” Russell and wife Laurie, Charles Michael “Chuck” Russell and wife Kristin, and Calvin Alan Russell and wife Pam, all of Winston-Salem; nine grandchildren, Early and John Russell, Jacey LeeAnn Russell and fiancee Jason Sheets, Christopher Russell, Andrew Russell, Amber Lea Kirkman, Emilio Gonzalez, Alejandro Gonzalez and Christian Michael Russell; two sisters, Nancy Davis of Clemmons and Billie Minish of Winston-Salem; a half-sister, Rachel Jones of Sanford; and a brother, Robert Gray Russell of Clemmons.
A memorial service was held at Vogler’s Reynolda Road Chapel with Dr. Henry May officiating.

Robert Paul Boulifard
Robert Paul Boulifard, 81, of Clemmons died May 24 at Forsyth Medical Center. He was born April 22, 1923, in Paris, France, to Joseph and Henrietta Bauchot Boulifard. He served seven years in the French Navy during World War II on the submarine Argo. His passions were fishing, gardening, soccer and classical music. He was a senior engineer with Eaton-Yale & Town in Pennsylvania, Westinghouse and Gilbarco, retiring in 1992.
Surviving are his wife, Vilma Burcin Boulifard of the home; three sons, Richard A. Boulifard of Georgia, David A. Boulifard of New Jersey and Paul J. Boulifard of Springfield, Mo.; a brother, Marcel Boulifard and wife Jeanine; and a nephew, Bernard Boulifard and wife Elisabeth, all of Paris, France.
Funeral services were held at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel with Rev. Adrian Porras officiating, and entombment followed in Westlawn Gardens of Memory.

Nina Kathleen Clark Smith
Nina Kathleen Clark Smith, 87, of Lexington, died May 24 in Lexington Memorial Hospital after an extended illness.
Surviving are a son, William M. “Bill” Smith Jr. and wife Carolyn of Clemmons.
A graveside service was held at Forest Hill Memorial Park.

Janet Kay Rothrock
Janet Kay Rothrock, 55, of Clemmons died May 29 after a long battle with diabetes. and heart failure. She was born November 24, 1948, in Forsyth County to the late John R. Rothrock and Helen Welfare Rothrock. She loved people and found the best in them. She did a lot of volunteer work when her health permitted. She was a member of Clemmons First Baptist Church.
Surviving are her mother, Helen Graham of the home; two brothers, Gary Rothrock and wife Sheryl of Clemmons and Steve Rothrock of Advance; a number of aunts, uncles, cousins and nephews; and a special friend, Joann Graham.
Funeral services were held at Vogler’s Chapel of Clemmons with Dr. Robert Phillips officiating, and burial followed in Forsyth Memorial Park.

Mildred Montgomery
Mildred Montgomery of Winston-Salem died May 27 after a long illness. She was born in 1935 to the late William and Mollie Cates in Spartanburg, S.C. She was a longtime member of Galilee Missionary Baptist Church where she was a member of senior choir, the Cora Montgomery Circle and the Napthali tribe prior to her illness.
Surviving are her sons, Anthony Cates of Clemmons and Bernard Cates of the home; two grandchildren, LaTisha Cates and Anna Hill, both of Winston-Salem; three sisters, Bernice Cates of the home, Bennie Mae Miller of Wellford, S.C., and Virginia Bobo and husband Lawrence of Inman, S.C.; three brothers, L.C. Cates and wife Juliette of Spartanburg, S.C., Bravell Cates of Winston-Salem and Fletcher Cates and wife Shirley of Hartford, Conn.; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Funeral services were held at Galilee Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. Robert McGowens officiating, and burial followed in Parklawn Memorial Gardens.

Charles McCluer Sams
Charles “Mac” McCluer Sams, 55, of Lewisville died May 28 at Forsyth Medical Center. He was born August 22, 1948, to Leroy Warren and Elizabeth McCluer Sams. He lived all of his life in Forsyth County, and in recent years enjoyed his retirement at his second home in North Myrtle Beach. He grew up in the First Presbyterian Church and was an avid sports enthusiast. He retired from Sara Lee Corp. after 32 years in marketing and services. He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Warren Sams of Winston-Salem.
Surviving are his wife, Trina Whitaker Sams of the home; a sister, Marsha Sams Thrift of Winston-Salem; two nieces, Allyson Bonner Thrift and Amy Thrift Scott; and a nephew, Shelby McCluer Sams.
Funeral services were held at Vogler & Sons Reynolda Road Chapel with Dr. Jeff White officiating, and burial followed at Forsyth Memorial Park.

Adolph J. Barauskas
Adolph J. Barauskas, 76, of Winston-Salem died May 30 at Meadowbrook Terrace of Davie County. He was born September 11, 1927, in Chicago, Ill., to the late Anton and Agatha Barauskas. He was a retired employee of Stroh Brewery Co., and a U.S. Army veteran, having served in World War II. He was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Alphonse Barauskas; and a sister, Eleanor Kazak.
Surviving are his wife, Dolores; their four children, Adrienne Logan and husband Charles of Arlington, Va., Carl Barauskas of Winston-Salem, Rita Long and husband Kenneth of Lewisville and Andrew Barauskas and wife Cheri of Lynchburg, Va.; three grandchildren, Jillian and Nicholas Long and Eva Marie Barauskas; a sister-in-law, Josephine Barauskas of Laverne, Calif.; and two nieces, Gail Kankowski of Goble, Mich., and Carol Rix of Mattawan, Mich.
A memorial Mass was held at Holy Family Catholic Church.

Willie Mae Shermer Adkins
Willie Mae Shermer Adkins, 85, of Reidsville died May 26 at Moses Cone Memorial Hospital. A native of Winston-Salem, she was a daughter of the late William and Laura Elizabeth Davis Shermer and had lived in Reidsville most of her life. She was a retired secretary and bookkeeper with Adkins Jones Heating and Air-Conditioning. She was a very active member of St. Thomas Episcopal Church, a member of the Episcopal Church Women and attended C.F.O. on a regular basis. She formed a prayer group that met in her home on Tuesdays. She was preceded in death by her husband, Stamey Thomas “S.T.” Adkins; her brother, Frank Shermer; and a sister, Maude Green.
Surviving are a son, Dr. Thomas Green Adkins and wife Jennifer of Nashville, Tenn.; a daughter, Laura Beth Adkins and husband David Hopper of Reidsville; a sister, Lounet White of Winston-Salem; her grandchildren, Whitney Adkins, Zack Adkins and Chris Adkins, all of Nashville, Tenn.; her nephews, Dick Shermer of Durham and David Shermer of Winston-Salem; and her nieces, Kathryn Pierce of Clemmons, Jeanne Foster of Advance, Larnet Phifer of Winston-Salem and Linda White of Florida.
A memorial service was held at St. Thomas Episcopal Church, and entombment followed in the church columbarium.

Ruth Robertson Beauchamp Sheets
Ruth Robertson Beauchamp Sheets, 93, of Advance died May 25 at Meadowbrook Terrace of Davie. She was born August 25, 1910, in Davie County to the late Grover Scales and Lizzie Potts Robertson. She was a homemaker. She was a lifelong member of Bixby Presbyterian Church and sang in the church choir. She was an honorary life member of the Presbyterian Women and an avid quilter. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Eugene R. Beauchamp in 1968; her second husband, John Henry Sheets; a son, Alton Beauchamp; and six brothers.
Surviving are two daughters, Shirley Cornatzer and husband Thomas of Advance and Betty Benge and husband Tony of Atlanta, Ga.; a son, Earlie “Jaybird” Beauchamp of Clemmons; 13 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Opal Howard and husband Hobert of Mocksville.
Funeral services were held at Eaton Funeral Chapel with Dr. Robbie Phillips, pastor of Clemmons First Baptist Church, officiating. Burial followed in Bixby Presbyterian Church Cemetery.

Samuel Conner Garmon
Samuel Conner Garmon, 1, of Jonesville died May 30 at Hugh Chatham Memorial Hospital.He was born March 26, 2003, in Buncombe County to Jesse Wayne and Rebecca Robinson Garmon Jr. He attended Calvary Wesleyan Church and will always be remembered for his smile and laughter.
Surviving are his father and mother, Jesse Wayne and Rebecca Robinson Garmon Jr. of the home; a sister, Emily Cheryl Garmon of the home; paternal grandparents, Jesse and Bobbie Garmon of Elkin; maternal grandparents, Howard and Alta Robinson of Hendersonville; paternal aunts and uncles, Beth and Jeff Poplin of Elkin, Chris and Doreen Garmon of Clemmons and DeAnne and Andrew Burgess of South Portland, Maine; maternal aunts and uncles, Stephanie and David Rhyne of Liberty, S.C., and Glen and Natalie Robinson of Huntington, Ind.; and his cousins, Kacie and Anna Poplin, Daniel and James Garmon and Ellie and Mitchell Rhyne.
Funeral services were held at Calvary Wesleyan Church with Rev. Steve Robinson, Rev. Glen Robinson and Rev. Jesse Garmon officiating, and burial followed at Crestwood Memorial Gardens.

Doris H. Collins
Doris H. Collins, 80, of Winston-Salem died May 30 after a brief battle with cancer. She was born October 13, 1923, in Yadkin County to the late Ray Marvin and Blanche Davis Hutchens. She was a retired employee of Hanes Knitwear, where she was employed for 36 years. She was a member of Hanes Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by a son, Dennis Gray Collins; a daughter-in-law, Glenda Lavon Collins; two brothers, Cedric and Martin Hutchens; and a sister, Virginia Collins.
Surviving are her husband, who patiently cared for her up until her last hours in this life, Albert Bruce Collins of the home; three sons, Howard Wayne Collins and wife Martha of Yadkinville, Larry Eugene Collins and wife Edith of Davidson County and Galen Neal Collins of Davidson County; three daughters, Sandra Wall and husband Gerald of Hamptonville, Cynthia DeLancey and husband John of Ruffin and Sarah Collins of Davidson County; 16 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; two brothers, Donald H. Hutchens and R.M. Hutchens, both of Yadkinville; and four sisters, Pearl H. Howell of Davidson County, Dorothy H. Howell of Clemmons, Margaret H. Hollar of Winston-Salem and Thelma H. Baity of Yadkinville.
Funeral services were held at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel with Dr. Harold Venable officiating, and burial followed in Parklawn Memorial Park.
