ZEB B. HILL JR.
SMITHFIELD -- Zeb Bryan Hill, Jr., 84 died Monday morning.
Funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the Sanders Chapel United Methodist Church. Burial, with masonic rites, will follow in Sunset Memorial Park.
Surviving are his sons, Bryan Hill and wife, Ann of Raleigh and Dan Hill and wife, Nanette of Wake Forest; daughter, Jenny Hill Potter and husband, Murray of Lewisburg, PA; sister, Myra Howell of Smithfield; four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. Tuesday at the Underwood Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be made to the Sanders Chapel United Methodist Church Memorial Fund, 4484 Brogden Road, Smithfield, NC 27577.
LILA D. HOLMES
MOUNT OLIVE -- Lila Dail Holmes, 92, died Sunday, April 4, 1999,in the SunRise Care Center. Born November 17, 1906 in Duplin County, she was the daughter of the late John Bryant and Nancy Pennie Walker Dail. A former long-time resident of Goldsboro, she was the widow of Troy Edward Holmes and was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Goldsboro and the Evergreen Garden Club.
Funeral 4 p.m. Tuesday, Tyndall Funeral chapel with Dr. William L. Hufham officiating. Burial, Wayne Memorial Park.
Surviving: sister, Christine Dail Fountain and husband, former Congressman L.H. Fountain of Tarboro; nephew, Gregory Adrian Dail of Calypso; niece, Nancy D. Fountain Black and husband, William Mock Black, Jr. of Raleigh; great-niece, Christine Chandler Black and great-nephew, William Mock Black II, both of Raleigh.
Family at funeral home one hour prior to the service, the other times at the home of George Adrian Dail, Hwy. 117 Business, Calypso.

SARAH WASHAM "BECKY" JOHNSON
SUN CITY, FL -- Sarah Rebecca Washam "Becky" Johnson of Sun City, FL, formerly of Raleigh, died April 2, 1999. Mrs. Johnson was a member of Sorrell Grove Baptist Church, Morrisville. Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home, St. Mary's St. Burial will follow in Airport Blvd. Community Cemetery.
Mrs. Johnson is survived by three children, Robert W. Hoppe of Atlanta, GA, Allan A. Hoppe of Charlotte, Randall H. Johnson of Raleigh; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; sisters, Katherine Faizo of New Port Richey, FL, Margaret Rouleau of Bloomington Hills, UT, Beatrice Russell of Sun City, FL.
The family will receive friends 7-9 p.m. Tuesday at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home, St. Mary's St.

RUBY H. JOYNER
HENDERSON -- Ruby Herbert Joyner, age 83, a former resident of 1555 Graham Avenue, Henderson, and Kinston, died Sunday, April 4, 1999 at Rex Health Care after a long period of declining health. She was born in Nash County, June 13, 1915 and was the daughter of the late Jessie and Fannie West Herbert. She was the widow of Larry Herbert Joyner. She was a member of the West End Baptist Church.
Graveside service will be held Wednesday, April 7, 1999 at 3 p.m. in the Forest Hill Cemetery in Nashville by the Rev. David Huffman.
She is survived by two sons, J. Herbert Joyner of Raleigh and L. Milton Joyner and wife, Krista, of Los Angeles, California.
The family will receive friends Tuesday night from 7-8:30 p.m. at the J.M. White Funeral Home.

EARL J. LEWIS
AUG. 29, 1929-APR. 5, 1999
ZEBULON -- Earl Junior Lewis, 69, of 151 Carlyle Rd. in the Pilot Community, died Monday morning at his home. He was a retired salesman and a US Marine Veteran. He was born in Franklin County, the son of the late Earlie R. and Lenora Strickland Lewis.
Funeral service will be 3 p.m. Wednesday, April 7, 1999 at Rocky Cross Holiness Church. Burial, Lewis Family Cemetery.
Surviving wife, Magalen Tant Lewis; sons, Ronnie Lewis and wife Donna of Pilot and Donnie Lewis of Pilot; brothers, Bill Lewis of Raleigh and Carroll Lewis of Rocky Cross; grandson, Jamie Lewis.
The family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. today at Strickland Funeral Home, 211 W. Third St., Wendell, other times at the home.
EDWARD J. MAJEWSKI
WILLOW SPRING -- Edward John Majewski, 81, of 9049 Walter Myatt Rd., Willow Spring, NC, died April 4, 1999 at Johnston Memorial Hospital in Smithfield, NC. He was born January 11, 1918 in Niagara Falls, NY to the late Peter and Josephine Kolarz Majewski.
He is survived by three sons, Edward J. Majewski, Jr. of Clayton, John A. Majewski of Neshanic Station, NJ, Peter P. Majewski of Willow Spring; a brother John Majewski of Batavia, NY; a sister Helen Gierek of Phoenix, AZ; six grandsons; one granddaughter; one great-grandson; two great-granddaughters, and several cousins, nieces and nephews. His wife Clara Jankowski Majewski of 51 years; son, Thomas James Majewski; sisters Anna Pappalardo, Adeline Rodon, and brother Casimer Majewski preceded him in death.
He served as a Master-Sergeant with the Army-Air Force's 306th Air Service Squadron-41st Air Service Group in the EAME Theater during WWII. In 1953 he started Majewski Heating Co. in Batavia, NY. In 1984 he retired and moved to Cary, NC. Then moved to Willow Spring, NC in 1985. He was a member of VFW Post 7383, Cary, NC; St. Bernadette Catholic Church, Fuquay-Varina, NC; Polish Falcons of America, Nest 493, Batavia, NY; Exempt Member of the Town of Batavia Fire Dept., plus several other organizations.
Funeral mass will be held on Thursday, April 8, 1999 at 10 a.m. at St. Bernadette Catholic Church, 1005 Wilbon Road, Fuquay-Varina, NC. Graveside service 2 p.m. Thursday at the Salisbury National Cemetery, Salisbury, NC.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, April 7, 1999 from 7-9 p.m. at Thomas Funeral Home, 401 N. Ennis Street, Fuquay-Varina.

BRENDA HUGHES MURRAY
JULY 29, 1948 - APRIL 5, 1999
ANGIER -- Brenda Hughes Murray, 50, died Monday. She was predeceased by her husband, Ayden Murray and her father, Ulius Hughes. Funeral service 3 p.m. Wednesday at Neill's Creek Baptist Church. Burial at the church cemetery.
Surviving: daughter, Janna Murray of the home; mother, Lois Pleasant of Angier; stepdaughters, Pam Batts, Debi Vaughn and Kim Murray, all of Raleigh; sister, Joyce Jones of Angier; brother, Melvin Hughes of Angier.
The family will be at Bryan-Lee Funeral Home, Angier, 7-9 p.m. today and other times at the home of David and Joyce Jones, 6454 NC Hwy. 55 South, Angier.
TRUMAN LEO NEWBERRY SR.
WAKE FOREST -- Truman Leo Newberry Sr. 90 of 745 Durham Road, Wake Forest died Sunday at his residence.
He was a professional pianist and organist who played theatre organs for silent movies and was a former member of the Theatre Organ Society. Mr. Newberry played the piano and organ on WPTF radio in its early years and composed and played the background music for the Baptist Hour on WPTF radio. He also played the piano for Fred Fletcher's "Tempest Fugit" radio program.
Mr. Newberry installed the organ in Reynolds Coliseum when it originally opened and played it for basketball games for several years during the Everett Case era.
In the mid-1940's he began working for Stephenson Music Co. of Raleigh and placed over 1300 pianos and organs in churches and schools throughout eastern North Carolina. He helped organize several churches in Raleigh including St. John's Baptist Church and Cokesbury Church.
He was married to the former Lettie Mae Corder for 58 years until her death.
Funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home, Saint Mary's Street. Burial will follow in Montlawn Memorial Park.
Surviving are his sons, Truman L. Newberry Jr. and William J. Newberry both of Raleigh; daughter, Mary Alice Tudor of Cary; brothers, Jack Newberry of Jacksonville, FL and William A. Newberry of Chesterfield, SC; sisters, Lois Neill of Rockingham and Nell Knott of Radford, VA; eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home, Saint Mary's Street (828-4311) from 7-9 p.m. on Tuesday.
JESSE "J" PRICE JR.
RALEIGH -- Jesse Horace "J" Price Jr., 35, of 4416 Forestville Road, died Monday, April 5, 1999 at Rex Hospital after a courageous battle with cancer. He was a partner in Prices Auto Parts and a graduate of Southern Christian Academy in 1982. "J" was a devoted husband, dad, son and brother.
Funeral service 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 7, 1999 at Wake Cross Roads Baptist Church. Burial, Wake Cross Roads Baptist Church Cemetery.
Surviving: wife, Menette Watkins Price, whom he married November 10, 1991; children, Jesse Horace Price III and Lindsay Menette Stephenson of the home; parents, Jesse Horace Price Sr. and Linda A. Price of Raleigh; brother, James Stewart Price "Jamie" and his wife, Carol of Raleigh; niece, Danielle Price; nephew, Collin price; paternal grandmother, Hettie Price Hawkins of Wendell; father and mother-in-law, Ed and Lynda Watkins of Wendell; brother and sister-in-law, Richard and Debbie Watkins of Knightdale; several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
Menette Price and the rest of the family of J. Price want to convey their deep heart felt gratitude to God, their church, the staff of Inter-Active Ministries and the people in the automotive industry, Masonic brothers, Eastern Star sisters and the many friends who have shown their love and concern. They have received a tremendous number of cards, calls, flowers, messages and contributions. God bless each deed, thought and prayer. J. Price is now at peace. He won his battle with the adversary with courage, confidence and faith. HE IS HEALED.

GRACE G. ROGERS
RALEIGH -- Grace Gardner Rogers, 83, formerly of Raleigh, died Monday, April 5, 1999, in Britthaven Nursing Home in Henderson.
Born March 14, 1916, in Bovill, Idaho, she was the daughter of the late James E. and Edna Vince Gardner.
Mrs. Rogers was a graduate of the University of Idaho and taught high school in northern Idaho. She met her husband of fifty-six years while teaching in Mullen, Idaho. They moved to Raleigh in 1947, and lived there for fifty years.
Mrs. Rogers was active in the United Church of Christ of Raleigh for many years. Her pleasures were her family, her book club, and the sewing and handwork, at which she was gifted.
Surviving are her husband, Lyle B. Rogers, of Henderson; one daughter, Roxanne R. Fleming, and husband, Robert F. Fleming of Henderson; one son, Alan G. Rogers, of Raleigh; and two grandsons, Gregory Fleming, of Southern Pines, and Bryce Fleming of Manson.
In celebration of her life, the family will receive friends Wednesday afternoon from 2-4 p.m. at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home on St. Mary's Street. All other times, they will be at the home of Robert and Roxanne Fleming, 507 Woodland Road, Henderson. No funeral service is planned.
Flowers Funeral Home in Henderson is in charge of the funeral arrangements.
LOUISE DEANE SANDERS
RALEIGH -- Louise Deane Sanders, 74, of 3809 Willow Creek Drive, died Sunday, April 4, 1999 at Wake Medical Center. Mrs. Sanders retired fr om Westinghouse with 38 years of service. Funeral service 11 a.m. Thursday, April 8, 1999 at Calvary Baptist Church. Burial, Montlawn Memorial Park.
Surviving: son, Edward Deane Trice, Sr. of Raleigh; daughter, Linda S. Quinlivan and her husband, Timothy John of Winston-Salem; grandchildren, Edward Deane Trice Jr., Tina Louise Trice, Angela Michelle Quinlivan, Justin Scott Quinlivan; two great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Sanders was preceded in death by her husband, Shelton Guy Sanders, Jr. on July 16, 1991.
