GREENSBORO -- Gurnam S. Mann, 66, of Greensboro, died Saturday, May 8, 1999 at Moses Cone Hospital.
Funeral service will be held at 5:30 p.m. on Monday, May 10, 1999 at Forbis & Dick Guilford Chapel, 5926 W. Friendly Ave., Greensboro, N.C.
Mr. Mann is survived by his wife, Surinder S. Mann; son, Devender S. Mann and his wife, Dr. Jyothi Mann of the home; a son and daughter in Tennessee; a son, and daughter in India; seven grandchildren and two sisters and a brother in India.

RALEIGH -- Easter G. Mitchell, of 6149 Jeffrey's Grove School Road, died Wednesday. Funeral service 1 p.m. Monday at Baptist Grove Grove Church. Burial, church cemetery.
Surviving include a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

MISS TABITHA D. MOORE
FUQUAY-VARINA -- Miss Tabitha Dawn Moore, 17, a resident of Howell's Child Care Center, New Bern, died Friday at UNC Hospital, Chapel Hill.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Monday at Rose & Graham Funeral Home Chapel, Benson. Officiating will be Revs. Condary Ellis and Jerome Pope. Burial will follow in Veteran's Cemetery, Dunn.
Surviving are mother and stepfather, Ruth and Tim Raines of Benson; father and stepmother, Ronnie and Betty Preddy Moore of Fuquay-Varina; sister, Heather Raines of Benson; maternal grandparents, James and Betty Herron of Greensboro; and paternal grandparents, Doris Moore and Bobby Byrd of Dunn.
Family will be at Rose & Graham Funeral Home in Benson from 7-9 p.m. Sunday and other times at the home of Ronnie and Betty Moore, 3463 Rawls Church Road, Fuquay-Varina.
SAMUEL F. PADGETT III
WARRENTON -- Samuel F. Padgett III, 80, a native of Richmond, Virginia, and resident of Warrenton, North Carolina, died Thursday, May 6, 1999 in Miami, Florida.
He is survived by his wife, Nellie Shearin Padgett; his three daughters, Joanne Weisenborn of Raleigh, Lynn Marie Padgett-Brown of Reston, Va., and Virginia Elizabeth (Beth) Harrison of Miami, Fla.; his six grandchildren, Kimberly Ann Weisenborn, Laura Nell VanDelinder, Joy Crutcher Harrison, Samuel Sayre VanDelinder, Lesley Ann Brown and John Cowles Harrison III; and his two brothers, Howard Padgett and Carey Padgett, both of Richmond, Va.
A memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 12, at Warrenton Baptist Church, 226 North Main St., Warrenton, N.C. Graveside service will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, May 15, in Hollywood Cemetery, 412 S. Cherry St., Richmond, Va.
Prior to the graveside service, friends may call at the Central Chapel of Bennett Funeral Home, 3215 Cutshaw Ave., Richmond from 10 a.m. to 12 noon.

AGNES MILLER POLASHOCK
CARY -- Agnes Miller Polashock, 86, of 210 Sarahzen Meadow Way, Morrisville, died Thursday, May 6, 1999, at Cary Rehab. & Retirement Center.
Ms. Polashock was born in Jersey City, NJ, on December 15, 1912. She was a caring and loving wife and mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She will be greatly missed by all that knew and loved her.
Mrs. Polashock is survived by her 9 children; sons, James Polashock of Saddlebrook, NJ, Andrew Polashock of Bayonne, NJ, John Polashock of Morrisville and Francis Polashock of Edison, NJ; daughters, Elizabeth Noto of Hartford, CT, Joan Mamaril of Las Vegas, NV, Paulette Polashock of Bayonne, NJ, Agnes Prezioso of Bayonne, NJ, and Jaqueline Garrander of Bayonne, NJ; 20 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends Monday from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. at Levis Funeral Home, Bayonne, NJ.
A funeral mass will be held Tuesday at 9:30 a.m. at St. Andrews Catholic Church, Bayonne, NJ.

KATHLEEN JEAN SMITH
NOV. 29, 1943-MAY 7, 1999
GARNER -- Kathleen J. Smith, 55, of 2031 Ford Gates Drive, died Friday at Rex Hospital. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother whom we will miss very much. She married Richard C. Smith on May 19, 1962 and they have spent 37 wonderful years together.
A memorial service for family and close friends will be held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, May 9th at Fuquay-Varina United Methodist Church.

Surviving are her husband Richard C. Smith; daughter, Teresa Smith of Rochester, NY; sons, Randall Smith of Apex, Dennis Smith of Palmyra, PA, Todd Smith of Myerstown, PA; father, Marvin Patnode of Rochester, NY; sister, Patricia Shamp of Spencerport, NY; brother, Jerry Patnode of CA; and four grandchildren.

JIMI ELIZABETH S. STEPHENS
KINSTON -- Mrs. Jimi Elizabeth McDaniel Sawyer Stephens, 59, died May 8, 1999, at Rex Hospital, Raleigh. She was the daughter of Mrs. Elizabeth Stevens of Kinston and the late H. Jack McDaniel and the wife of William J. Stephens of Raleigh. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Jennifer Elizabeth Sawyer and husband, Warren Patterson Sawyer.
Jimi graduated from Grainger High School, Kinston, and East Carolina University, Greenville. For many years she was a beloved teacher of Northwest Elementary School. She was a member of Westminster United Methodist Church and the Circle of Joy. Jimi was a blessing to all who knew and loved her.
A memorial service in celebration of Jimi's life will be held at Westminster United Methodist Church, 11 a.m. Tuesday May 11, 1999, followed by burial at Pinelawn Cemetery.
Jimi is survived by her husband, William J. Stephens; sons and daughters-in-law, Warren Patterson Sawyer Jr. and Wendy K. Sawyer; Jack McDaniel Sawyer and Nicole G. Sawyer; grandchildren, Hannah, Patrick, and Nicholas Sawyer and stepchildren, Mr. and Mrs. W. Jefferson Stephens Jr., Mr. and Mrs. Tim Steadman, and Miss Susan Stephens and two step-grandchildren. Other survivors are her mother, Elizabeth M. Stevens; her sister and brother-in-law, Carole and Herky DeStout; her aunt, Hester M. Russell; and many special cousins.
Visitation will be at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur DeStout, 1906 Holding Place, Kinston from 7-9 p.m. Monday May 10, 1999.

FLOSSIE E. TATUM
WHITE OAK -- Mrs. Flossie Evans Tatum, 93, of White Oak, died May 8, 1999 at Rex Hospital in Raleigh.
She was born September 23, 1905, in Bladen County to Newton W. and Mamie E. Evans.
"Miss Flossie" was a retired school teacher who taught for 44 years, most of that in Bladen County. In addition, she was a devoted care giver to her invalid parents for many years as well as to her sister, Nell Parker, who died recently after 12 years in a nursing home.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Earl.
She is survived by one sister, Annie Ruth Wood of Raleigh, and several nieces and nephews,including Peggy Bedini of Raleigh.
Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, at White Oak Baptist Church.
Arrangements are by Butler Funeral Home of Roseboro, NC.
RUTH CAROLYN WILSON
RALEIGH -- Ruth Carolyn Wilson, 95, of Raleigh, died Saturday, May 8, 1999 at Stewart Health Center.
Ms. Wilson was a longtime resident of Raleigh and long standing member of First Baptist Church of Raleigh.
She was very active in civic and business affairs and Ms. Wilson was the first woman to be elected to the Raleigh City Council in 1947.Ms. Wilson is survived by her sister, Evelyn Wilson Simpson of Stewart Health Center at Springmoor Ret. Community, Raleigh; and many nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held Monday at 2 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Raleigh, 99 N. Salisbury St.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. The burial will be in Montlawn Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a charity one's choice.

ELIZABETH WOODY STONE
RALEIGH -- Elizabeth Woody Stone, 77, of 6013 Dixon Dr., died Tuesday evening at Raleigh Community Hospital. A private memorial service will be held at Bayleaf Baptist Church by the Rev. Alan Coker.
Surviving is her daughter and son-in-law, Kim and Todd Loy of Raleigh.

RANDAL A. "RUNT" BARNES
SELMA -- Randal Andrew "Runt" Barnes, retired employee of the Pepsi-Cola Bottling Company in Selma, died Wednesday. He was a U.S. Army veteran of WWII and a member of the Selma American Legion Post #141.
Funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday in the chapel of Parrish Funeral Home in Selma. Entombment will follow in Selma Memorial Gardens.
Surviving are his wife: Louise Starling Barnes; son, Ronald A. Barnes of Pikeville; daughter, Diana Barnes Best and her husband, Tom of Goldsboro; sisters, Doris Barnes Jones and Betty Barnes Brown both of Selma; brother-in-law, W. Ray Eason of Princeton and a grandson, Brooks Thomas Best of Goldsboro.
The family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

DUNN -- Mrs. Dora Tart Boyette, 80, of 786 Tart Road, died Wednesday, May 12, 1999.
Funeral 2 p.m. Friday, May 14, 1999 at the Unity Presbyterian Church in Newton Grove with Rev. Heidi Cleveland officiating. Burial, church cemetery.
Survivors: son, James Grady Boyette of Dunn; daughters, Janet B. Darden, Shelia B. Strickland, and Frances B. Bass, all of Dunn; brothers, George W. Tart and Joe Eldridge Tart, both of Dunn; sisters, Dorothy Allen of Dunn and Sallie Tart of Clinton.
