RICHARD ALAN BRENNEMAN
AUGUST 24, 1943 - MAY 27, 1999
HOLLY SPRINGS -- Richard Alan Brenneman, 55, of Holly Springs, died Thursday. He was a real estate agent with Fonville-Morisey.
He is survived by his wife, Jean M. Brenneman; son, Jim Brenneman; sister, Sue Ann Cross and brother-in-law, Ron Cross; father and mother-in-law, Glenn and Lora Matthews; and nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held 2:30 p.m. Sunday at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home, in Cary. Burial will follow in Raleigh Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends on Saturday from 7-9 p.m. at the funeral home and other times at the home.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Sunrise United Methodist Church, Building Fund, P.O. Box 295, Holly Springs, NC 27540.
ELIZABETH ADAMS BRINKLEY
RALEIGH -- Elizabeth Adams Brinkley, 86, of 2124 Ridge Road, died Thursday at her residence.
Funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Sunday at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home, Saint Mary's Street, with Dr. Larry Harper officiating. Burial will follow in Raleigh Memorial Park.
Surviving are her daughter, Janet Carey and her husband, Jack of Raleigh; grandchildren, Elizabeth Cummings and her husband, Rick of Fuquay-Varina and John Edward Fuquay of Raleigh; great-granddaughter, Rachel Cummings.
The family will receive friends at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home, Saint Mary's Street (828-4311) from 7-9 p.m. on Saturday.
ALBERT EARL CRAWFORD
MIDDLESEX -- Albert Earl Crawford, 70, of 11185 NC 42 E. Middlesex, died Thursday. Funeral services 2 p.m. Sunday at Coley Funeral Home Chapel. Burial in the Narron Family Cemetery.
Surviving: wife Margie N. Crawford; daughters, Vickie C. Balazsi and Gayle C. Hinson both of Middlesex; brother, Jimmy Crawford of Kenly; two grandchildren, Triston Hinson and Melissa Balazsi.
Visitation, 7-9 p.m. Saturday, Coley Funeral Home.
JANICE B. ELEY
WINSTON-SALEM -- Janice Boone Eley, 58, a native of Gates County, died May 28, 1999 at her residence.
Surviving: husband, Mr. John W. Eley, Sr.; children, John W. Eley, Jr. of Durham, Jeanetta R. Eley of Rockville, MD, Jamison Eley of Winston-Salem, Jasmine Eley of the home, Sherry Moore of Jacksonville; siblings; Ester Cross of Gates, Henry P. Boone of Salisbury, Charles H. Sawyer of Queens, NY, Dorothy and Clinton, both of Washington, DC, Laura, Terry, Mary Diane, Tyrone and Lance, all of Maryland, Frank Jr. of New York, Mack Arthur of Virginia, Philmore of Philadelphia; three grandchildren.
The funeral will be held 11 a.m. Sunday, May 30 at New Bethany Baptist Church by Rev. William O. Clark, pastor. Burial, Hillcrest Cemetery.
In lieu of plants, please make memorials to the University Hospice.
A wake will be held 7-8 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
Services of comfort are entrusted to Hertford County Undertakers.
WILLIAM KING FAISON
CHARLOTTE -- William King Faison, 86, died Thursday, May 27, 1999 at the Stewart Health Center, Charlotte.
Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, May 29, 1999 at 1:30 p.m. at the St. Stephen's Episcopal Church, corner of Mulberry and James Street, Goldsboro. The Faison family will receive friends in the parish hall following the service.
Bill Faison was a gentleman with an unmatched sense of humor. He grew up in Faison, NC, attended the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, raised a family, owned an automobile dealership, and was involved with numerous civic organizations in Jacksonville, NC. He retired to Goldsboro and recently moved to Charlotte. He served as an infantry officer during World War II in the European theater and was awarded two Silver Stars, two Purple Hearts, and a Combat Infantryman Badge for his heroic and distinguished service. In 1992, at the age of 80, former First Lieutenant William King Faison was awarded the Bronze Star by General Griffin and also received a letter of praise and congratulations from General Colin Powell and the Joint Chiefs of Staff.
Mr. Faison is predeceased by his first wife, Maria Garrett Faison.
He is survived by his wife, Eugenia Dewey Faison; daughters, Maria Faison Mann, Frances Faison, Lane Faison Sutton and her husband Winston; stepchildren, Mollie Faison, Steele Dewey and his wife Molly; sisters, Frances Johnson, Lib Veldhuis; grandchildren, John Mann, Robert Mann, Lindsay Mann, Jay Faison, Lane Faison, George Dewey, Eddie Dewey, Dosty Dewey, Shippen Browne, Clarke Browne, Katie Browne; great-grandsons, William Faison Mann, Thomas Mann, James Mann; and numerous other relatives and close friends.
Carolina Funeral & Cremation Center is entrusted.
LEE R. FRYE
CARY -- Lee R. Frye, 51 a native of Baltimore, MD and resident of Cary, NC since 1989 died Thursday, May 13, 1999.
He was a loving husband, father, stepfather, grandfather, son and brother.
He is survived by his wife, Lynn Frye; daughters, Dawn Greene and Lynn Kedzierski; son, Lee Frye, Jr., all of Baltimore, MD; stepdaughter, Linda Drzewiecki of Cary; stepson, Mitchell Drzewiecki of Sparks, MD. Other survivors include his mother, Doris Hansford; six sisters; 10 grandchildren; 16 nieces and nephews.
A funeral service was held in Baltimore, MD. A memorial service will be held in Cary at a later date.
SADIE B. GIBBS
KILKENNY -- Sadie B. Gibbs, 78, of Kilkenny, died Thursday, May 27, 1999 at her home.
A funeral service will be conducted 2 p.m. Sunday, May 30, 1999 at Walker Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Larry Weaver and Rev. Rafael Farrow. Burial will follow in Azalea Memorial Gardens.
Mrs. Gibbs is survived by her son, Jeff Gibbs and his wife Edna of Kilkenny; daughter, Sharon Brickhouse and her husband Billy of Virginia Beach; sister, Lena Beck of Martinsburg, WV; grandchildren, Sherry Stephenson of Wilmington, Jennifer Spruill of Creswell, April Brickhouse of Virginia Beach, Jason Gibbs, and Jonathan Gibbs of Kilkenny.
Mrs. Gibbs was a native of Tyrrell County and was preceded in death by her husband Theodore C. Gibbs. She was a member of Gumneck Freewill Baptist Church.
The family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. Saturday at Walker Funeral Home, Columbia.
LOTTIE WILDER PHILLIPS
RALEIGH -- Lottie Wilder Phillips, 73, died Thursday, May 27, 1999. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Tippett's Chapel Freewill Baptist Church with burial to follow in Maplewood Cemetery in Clayton. Rev. David Trogdon, Rev. Wade Parker officiating.
She is survived by her husband, Carmon E. Phillips of Raleigh; daughter and son-in-law, Judy W. and Larry E. Belvin of Clayton; sons, Jesse R. Wilder, Jr. and Randy E. Wilder, both of Clayton; stepson and stepdaughter-in-law, Garry and Glenda P. Phillips of Zebulon; sisters, Gladys Pounds of Clayton, Agnes Brady of Clayton, Lois Ross of Raleigh, and Ozzie Adams of Raleigh; brothers, Raeford Parrish of Knightdale and Sam Parrish of Morehead City; three grandchildren, Kelly Belvin, Bryan Belvin and Jeremy Wilder; two step-grandchildren, Tiffany Phillips and Garred Phillips.
Mrs. Phillips was preceded in death by her sisters, Helen Massey of Wilmington, NC and Gertie Davis of Clayton, NC.
Memorial donations may be made to the Tippett's Chapel Freewill Baptist Church, 2530 Shotwell Rd., Clayton, NC 27520.
The family will receive friends 7-8:30 p.m. Saturday at McLaurin Funeral Home, Inc., Clayton, NC.
DEAN J. TURNER
JUNE 1, 1934 - MAY 28, 1999
CLAYTON --Dean Jordan Turner, 64, died in Carolina House in Smithfield early Friday morning following a period of declining health. She was owner of the Smithfield Travel Agency until she sold it in 1996. Dean was a native of LaGrange, Georgia, a daughter of the late James Earl Jordan and Inez Gauntt Jordan. A memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Saturday at the First Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Lee Colbert, Pastor.
Surviving: daughter, Jennifer Martin of Garner; Betsy Turner of Clayton; brother, James Earl Jordan III of Snellville, GA; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren.
Memorials are suggested to The American Lung Association, PO Box 10394, Raleigh, NC 27605-0394.
The family will greet friends at the church following the memorial service.

JOEL BRAXTON WEBB
TARBORO -- Joel Braxton Webb, 95, died Friday. Funeral service 2 p.m. Sunday at Carlisle Funeral Home with Dr. Marc Tilley officiating. Burial in Edgecombe Memorial Park.
Mr. Webb was preceded in death by his wife Corinne Williams Webb, two sons, Alfred Grey Webb and J.B. Webb.
Surviving: daughters and sons-in-law; Ruby and Robert Cullifer of Wendell, Amanda Mayo of Crisp, Shelby Dean Proctor of Pinetops, Almeta and James Manning of Macclesfield, Brenda and Gene O'Neal of Tarboro; sons and daughters-in-law, Cecil and Martha Webb of Bath, Bruce and Arena Webb of Tarboro, Earl and Ann Webb of Tarboro; daughters-in-law, Shirley Webb of Macclesfield, Becky Webb of Pinetops; 24 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at Carlisle Funeral Home Saturday from 7 to 9 p.m. and other times at the home of Mrs. J.B. Webb, Macclesfield.
LARRY ALSTON WILSON
FOUNTAIN CROSSROADS -- Larry Alston Wilson, 96, died Thursday.
Graveside service 2 p.m. Saturday in Greenwood Cemetery with Dr. Ed Conner officiating.
Survivors: sister, Maebelle Chappell, Roanoke, VA; brother, Alvin N. Wilson, Tarboro; several nieces and nephews.
JAMES L. CRAWFORD
PIKEVILLE -- James Leslie Crawford Jr., 77, founder and vice-president of Crawford Furniture, died Thursday.
He was born in March 13, 1922 in Pikeville, graduated from Pikeville High School and attended the Citadel in Charleston, SC. He joined the Air Force in 1943 and was commissioned 2nd Lt. and received his wings in April, 1944. While serving in Bodney, England he was assigned to the 487th Fighter Squadron, 352nd Fighter Group and flew a P-51 Mustang, participating in numerous escort, divebombings and strafing missions. He became a 1st Lt. and completed 50 missions before returning to the United States. He received the Air Medal with five Oak Leaf Clusters.
Mr. Crawford established Crawford Furniture in Pikeville upon returning from the service, which he still operated with his son, J.L. Crawford III.
Crawford had been active in civic and business organizations, having served as a Pikeville Town Commissioner, member of the Pikeville School Board and Branch Bank and Trust Board of Directors.
He was a member of St. Joseph's United Methodist Church and was former Sunday school superintendent.
Mr. Crawford was preceded in death by a brother, Norwood Crawford.
Funeral, Saturday, 3 p.m., St. Joseph's United Methodist Church. Interment, Pikeville Cemetery.
Surviving: wife, Mevis Williams Crawford; daughter and son-in-law, Beth and Robert Hill of Raleigh; sons and daughter-in-law, James L. "Jimmy" Crawford III and Sheila Sasser Crawford of Pikeville and David Crawford and Ramona Crawford of Monrovia, MD; grandchildren, Lindsay, Meredith, Leslie, Sarah, Joseph, Stephanie and Christina Crawford and Robert, Dustin, Elizabeth and John Hill.
Memorials are suggested to St. Joseph's United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 43, Pikeville, NC 27863.
