DIANNE J. HARDERSEN
RALEIGH - Dianne J. Hardersen, 48, died Thursday, May 27, after a courageous battle with cancer. She was a member of St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church and was involved in the church choir and Stephen Ministry. She was also a member of the Wood Valley Women's Club and Bible Study.
She is survived by her husband, Gerald L. Hardersen; daughters, Angela Hardersen Keith and husband Brandon of Apex, Katherine Grace Hardersen, and Christina Lynn Hardersen, both of Raleigh; parents, Allen and Betty Thompson of Faribault, MN; brothers, Dennis Thompson and wife Kay of Rochester, NY and Roger Thompson and wife Peggy of Faribault, MN; sister, Rebecca Keebaugh and husband Greg of Blue Earth, MN.
The family will receive friends and relatives at North Raleigh Funeral Home Tuesday evening from 7-9 pm. A memorial service will be held Wednesday at 11 am at St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church. The Hardersen family is being served by North Raleigh Funeral Home, 7615 Six Forks Rd., 870-5123.

MARGARET SNOW CALLAHAN MANOOCH
RALEIGH - Margaret Snow Callahan Manooch, 76, died May 30, 1999, at her home on Canterbury Road in Raleigh.
Funeral services will be conducted, Wednesday, June 2, 1999, at 11 a.m. at Hayes Barton United Methodist Church. Interment will follow in Montlawn Memorial Park.
A native of Raleigh and summer resident of Hoop Hole Creek, Atlantic Beach, "Snow" graduated from Needham B. Broughton High School and Peace College. In the 1940's the Raleigh news media often fondly referred to her as "Raleigh's Golden Girl". During her lifetime, Snow was forever working on behalf of her beloved Raleigh and the State of North Carolina. She was one of the organizers of the Raleigh Boy Choir and served on that group's Board until her death. An active member of the Raleigh Fine Arts Society, she also served for nine years on the North Carolina Tryon Palace Commission. She was a member of the North Carolina Preservation Group and the Raleigh Women's Club. She was a volunteer with the North Carolina Museum of Art and a Docent at the Governor's Mansion in Raleigh. Snow was also a member of the Coral Bay Club at Atlantic Beach and the Bogue Banks Country Club at Pine Knoll Shores.
She is survived by her husband, Col. Charles S. Manooch, Jr. USA (Retired); a son, Dr. Charles S. Manooch, III, of Morehead City; two granddaughters, Rebecca Manooch and Alexandra Manooch; one grandson, Charles S. Manooch, IV, and a great-granddaughter, Laurie Genevieve Capps, who lives with her mother in Raleigh. Snow is also survived by her brother, John W. Callahan, of Lexington, and her aunt, Mrs. Truman Williams, of Raleigh.
The family will receive friends 7-9 p.m. Tuesday, June 1, 1999 at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home, 300 St. Mary's Street, Raleigh.

THOMAS W. ROGERS SR.
RALEIGH - Thomas W. Rogers, Sr. of 453 Parnell Drive, departed this life on Saturday. Funeral, Wednesday, 12 Noon, First Church of God. Burial, Carolina Biblical Gardens.
"Tom," as he was affectionately called was married to Laura L. Rogers. To this union six children were born. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Dorothy in 1968 and a son, Thomas, Jr. in 1996.
Those who knew him best and will miss home most include; his wife, Laura of the home; daughter, Odessa Foster of Jamaica, NY; sons, James L. Rogers, Leo Rogers, and Robert Rogers all of Raleigh; sons-in-law, Oliver Foster and Carl Crews; daughters-in-law, Loleeta Rogers and Patty Rogers; sister, Letha Dunn of Wendell; two nephews, A.T. Rogers of Philadelphia and Eddie Lucas of New York; god-daughter, Ann Ingram of Raleigh; 14 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren, and a host of other relatives and friends.
The family will receive friends at the church on Wednesday from 11:30-12 p.m. All other times at the home.

JOSEPH H. BARHAM
CARY - Joseph Henry Barham, 78, passed away Monday, May 31, 1999 at Rex Hospital.
Mr. Barham was a Navy Veteran of World War II who served his Country at Pearl Harbor, Midway and Normandy. He also was a member of a Masonic lodge for over 50 years.
Mr. Barham was preceded in death by his loving wife of 56 years, Phyllis Barham.
He is survived by a son, Barton and wife, Mona Barham of Cary; daughter, Beverly and husband, Freddie Batten of Wendell; grandchildren, Steven, Vickie, Carson and Andy; great grandchildren, Kimberly and Jonathan.
The funeral service will be 1 p.m. Wednesday, June 2, at the Mitchell Funeral Home Chapel, 600 Saint Mary's Street and will be officiated by Dr. Ed Stock Jr. The burial will be private. The family will receive friends Tuesday, 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.

GARNER - Beulah Stephenson Broughton, 90, a retired supervisor of Southern Bell with 45 years of service, died Monday.
Funeral service 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at Garner United Methodist Church. Burial, Montlawn Memorial Park.
Surviving: sisters, Ellen S. Tunstall and Grace S. Sandy, both of Raleigh; step son, Robert S. Broughton, Woodstock, NY and ten nieces and nephews.

FELICIA PANNESI DESIMONE
CARY - Felicia Pannesi DeSimone, 87, of Cary died Sunday, May 30, 1999.
A funeral Mass will be held 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Andrew's Catholic Church. Interment will follow in Oakwood Cemetery in Raleigh.
Surviving are husband, Nicholas DeSimone; daughter, Joan Chiklis of Cary; sons, Dr. Robert DeSimone of Cary, Richard DeSimone of Woburn, MA; sisters, Angelina Heino and Anna Flodstrom, both of Arlington, MA; brothers, David Pannesi and P. Alfred Pannesi both of Watertown, MA; 12 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

ROBERT J. GARNER
CHARLOTTE - Robert John Garner, 85, of Charlotte, formerly of Garner, died on Monday, May 31, 1999 at Presbyterian Hospital. Mr. Garner was born on July 16, 1913 in Camden, N.J., a son of the late John Robert Garner and Laura Mayer Garner.
He was formerly a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Garner, where he was a Fourth Degree Knight with the Knights of Columbus. Mr. Garner was a member of St. Gabriel Catholic Church, Charlotte. He was in management with Winn Dixie Stores until his retirement after 47 years of service. Mr. Garner was involved with many charitable organizations over the years including Special Olympics, the United Fund and Women's Prison in Raleigh.
Surviving include his loving wife of 33 years, Jessie Layell Garner; son, James B. Stroud of Greenfield, Ind.; two daughters, Sydney Ames of Gardiner, Mont., Susan Arcuri of Weddington; three grandsons, Shawn Stroud, Ian Stroud and Scott Stephenson; sister, Eleanor Gallagher of Pennsauken, N.J.; three nieces.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, June 2, 1999 at St. Gabriel Catholic Church, 3016 Providence Road, Charlotte. There will be a Prayer Service at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the church, followed by a visitation until 9 p.m.

HELEN ELLIS JORDAN
RALEIGH - Helen Ellis Jordan, 96, of Springmoor Retirement Community, died Sunday, May 30, 1999. A native of Clayton, she was the daughter of Charles and Annie Barnes Ellis. She was an active member for many years of Hayes-Barton Baptist Church. Her husband, D.L. Jordan, died in 1969. She is survived by a son, William W. Jordan and his wife, Nancy E. Jordan of Concord, formerly of Raleigh; two grandchildren, Kimberly Jordan and Walt Jordan, Jr., both of Raleigh; a great-grandson, Will Jordan, III of Raleigh; two step-grandchildren and five step-great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Montlawn Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends at Springmoor Auditorium at 4 p.m. on Tuesday, following the graveside service.

KITTRELL - Troy Everett Terry, 83, of 3130 Dick Smith Road died Sunday at Rex Hospital in Raleigh. Mr. Terry was retired in 1978 from the maritime Services and he served his country during World War II.
Funeral service will be Wednesday at 1:00 p.m. at Montlawn Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow at Montlawn Memorial Park, Raleigh, NC.
Family will receive relatives and friends today from 7-9 p.m. at Montlawn Funeral Home and at all other times at the home of Cecil and Eleanor Woodall, 329 S. King Charles Rd, Raleigh, NC.

RED OAK - Reverend James Weston Weeks, 82, died Monday. He was born in Halifax County June 28, 1916, the son of the late Euthal Roland and Mamie Barnes Weeks. He was a retired minister and a veteran of World War II Army. He was also a member of Fishing Creek Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Clara Bryan Weeks of the home; daughters and son-in-law, Olivia L. Weeks of Buies Creek, Cathy W. and Robert E. Dennis of Spring Hope; sons and daughter-in-law, J. Michael and Carol D. Weeks of Zebulon, David Ashley Weeks of the home; seven grandchildren; three sisters, Emily Duffell of Sanford, Mary Dare Brown of Murfreesboro, Undine Barnhill of Scotland Neck. Funeral service 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Johnson Funeral Home, Sunset Avenue with Rev. Grady Dickens officiating. Graveside service 2:30 p.m. Newton Grove Cemetery, Newton Grove.

RALEIGH - Vastie Utley Winston of 2400 Sunny Lane, was born the daughter of the late Nathan Utley and Cora Crowder of Wake County. She departed this life, Friday, May 28, 1999 at her home.
Funeral service will be held at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, June 2, at New Providence Baptist Church, 8413 Hilltop-Needmore Rd., Fuquay-Varina. Family visitation at the church from 11-11:30 a.m. Interment will be observed in the church cemetery.
She leaves to mourn her daughter, Barbara Winston of the home; Daniel Winston of Raleigh; brother, Reuben Utley of Manning, SC; sisters, Essie Sutton (Wendell) of Baltimore, MD and Leatha Johnson of Brooklyn, NY; 15 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, three great-great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.

BEULAVILLE - Peanie Williams Blizzard, age 90, died Wednesday, July 7, 1999, at home.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Sam Blizzard, and son, Stanley Blizzard.
Funeral services will be held 4 p.m. Sunday, July 11, 1999 at the Beulaville Presbyterian Church. Burial, Hallsville Baptist Church Cemetery.

CHARLES LEONARD BRIGGS JR.
CARY - Charles Leonard Briggs, Jr. of Cary, formerly of Valdese, died Wednesday, July 7th at Western Wake Hospital after a long illness. Born in Toledo, Ohio, he was the son of the late Charles Leonard Briggs, Sr. and Elda Pascal Briggs. He served as Police Chief of Cary from 1967 to 1972 and was the Chief building and fire inspector for the City of Cary until his retirement. He was a member of American Legion Post 234 in Valdese and VFW.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Joan B. Baird.
He is survived by his wife, Joyce Hughey Briggs; daughters, Cheri Sutton of Lenoir, Tammy Badalamenti of Cary; sisters, Pamela B. Strickland of Raleigh, Maxine B. Hightower of Valdese; two grandchildren.
Funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, July 10, 1999 at Family Funeral Care, Kirksey Chapel in Valdese with Rev. Paul H. Felker officiating. Interment will follow the service at Hillcrest Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Saturday morning prior to the service beginning at 10 a.m.
