DAVID L. REASER
RALEIGH - David L. Reaser, 87, of Louisburg, died March 16, 1999. He was a native of Pennsylvania and a retired IBM Employee. Mr. Reaser was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Raleigh.
Surviving are: sons, David Reaser of Youngsville, James Reaser of Austin, TX; brothers, Paul Reaser of Selinsgrove, PA, Joseph Reaser of Allentown, PA; sister, Ester McIlleny of Doylestown,PA; grandchildren, Laura Reaser Winston of Louisburg, Kathryn Reaser of Youngsville.
Mr. Reaser was predeceased by his wife, Florence R. Reaser and a daughter, Ann Reaser Agnew.
A memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. on Monday, March 29, 1999, at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home, 300 St. Mary's Street in Raleigh.

GERALDINE S. SAVAGE
CHAPEL HILL - Geraldine S. Savage, 68, of Fearrington Village, died a pleasant and peaceful death on March 24 at UNC Hospital.
Due to the renovation project at the Newman Catholic Student Center Parish, a Funeral Mass will be conducted at 3 p.m. Friday, March 26, at St. Thomas More Catholic Church by Father Phillip Leach. Visitation will be thirty minutes prior to the service.
She is survived by: husband, Myron Savage; daughter, Mary Alice Savage of Las Vegas, NV; son, Stephen Savage of Kansas City, MO; four sisters, Geanne Frances Effrein of Omaha, NE, Rosemary Joyce of Huron, OH, Carol Thoma of Louisville, KY and Kathleen Slowinski of Louisville, KY; brother, Thomas Schmidt of Louisville, KY.
Interment will be in Arlington National Cemetery Thursday, April 1, at 12:45 p.m. with a Mass in the Ft. Meyer Chapel.

DONNIE SIMONS
HARTSVILLE, SC - Funeral services for Donnie Lee Honeycutt Simons, 99, will be held at 4 p.m. Thursday, March 25, 1999 at the First Baptist Church. The Rev. Dr. Bob Cline will officiate with burial Friday, March 26, 1999 at 12 noon in Magnolia Cemetery, Charleston, SC.
The family will receive friends Thursday after the service in the church parlor.
Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church or St. Bartholomew's Episcopal Church, both in Hartsville, SC.

Mrs. Simons, widow of Benjamin Webb Simons, died Tuesday, March 23, 1999. Born in Sampson County, NC, she was a daughter of the late Dee Addision and Dicie Ella Vann Honeycutt. At an early age, she moved to Buies Creek, NC and graduated from Buies Creek Academy with music, art and literary diplomas. She continued her music at Meredith College, Raleigh, NC, and returned to Buies Creek to teach piano at Buies Creek Academy, now Campbell University. During her lifetime, she lived in Clinton, NC, Hamlet, NC, Marion, SC and Hartsville, SC. In 1934, she married Benjamin Webb Simons, a native of Charleston, SC, who died in 1992 after 57 years of marriage. She was a member of the First Baptist Church for 54 years and was active in various church organizations for many years. She was also a member of the U.D.C. and a charter member of the Turnage Civitan Club.
Surviving are her daughter, Donnie H. Simons of New York City, NY; several nieces and nephews.

RALEIGH - A memorial service for Sharon Jean Southerland will be held Thursday 2:00 p.m. at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home, Millbrook Road.

JIMMIE EARL SUTTON
ROCKY MOUNT - Jimmie Earl Sutton, 66, died Tuesday, March 23, 1999 at Wilson Memorial Hospital. He was born April 30, 1932 in Wilson County, the son of the late Herman Sutton and Ruby Sharpe Sutton. He was a retired tobacconist with Universal Leaf (Thorpe and Ricks) and he was a member of Englewood Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife Patsy Lou Sutton of the home; one son, John Sharpe Sutton of Fort Lauderdale, FL; two daughters, Tracey Sutton Wright and her husband Stuart T. Wright and Tammy Sutton Jones and her husband Wayland R. Jones, III of Nashville, NC; two brothers, Jack Sutton of Wilson, NC and Preston Sutton of Rocky Mount, NC; three sisters, Jean Little of Tarboro, NC, Ann Jones and her husband Melton Jones of Wake Forest, NC and Peggy Coley and her husband Freeman Coley of Zebulon, NC; two grandchildren, John "Huntley" Walker Wright and Sarah MacKenzie "Maggie" Wright.
Funeral Services will be held 11 a.m. Friday, March 26, 1999 at Bowling Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Sonny Griswald officiating. Burial will follow at Rocky Mount Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 7-8:30 p.m. Thursday at Bowling Funeral Home, 661 English Road, Rocky Mount, NC.

JAMES PAUL "JIM" STOTT
WILMINGTON - James Paul (Jim) Stott, 63, a native of Bailey, and a former resident of Raleigh, died at New Hanover Regional Medical Center on May 4, 1999.
Mr. Stott moved to Wilmington in 1987 after having retired from the Raleigh Police Force with 30 years of service. He was a graduate of N.C. Wesleyan College, served in the U.S. Army 1954-1956, and was a member of the Pine Valley United Methodist Church in Wilmington.
He was the son of the late John Paul and Tempie Colston Stott, both Nash County natives.
He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Betty Glover Stott; two sons and their wives, Ronnie D. Stott and Patricia of Wake Forest, Philip M. Stott and Donna of Charlotte; one sister, Sandra S. Williams and her husband, J. Carroll Williams of Rocky Mount; a brother-in-law, Gerald Glover and wife, Texie of Bailey; and five grandchildren, Kirsten, Zackary, Leah, Tyler and Austin.
Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, May 7, 1999 at Pine Valley United Methodist Church in Wilmington, with the Rev. Marty Duffell officiating. There will be a graveside service and burial at the Bailey Cemetery, Bailey, NC at 4 p.m.
The family will receive friends at Andrews Mortuary, 1617 Market Street, tonight from 7-8:30 p.m.

Gordon ALLAN "JACK" AULIS
RALEIGH - Gordon Allan "Jack" Aulis of Raleigh, died Tuesday, May 4, 1999 after a short illness. He was 73.
He had been married to Lois Ruth Horne Aulis since December 10, 1949.
He wrote and she illustrated five humorous nature books, which are sold nationally by a New York marketing company. They are: "Eagles Have Bad Breath" (1980), "Butterflies and other Bird, "Plants Don't Do What You Tell Them To, " "How Porcupines Make Love" and "Never Hug An Octopus" (1993).
Beginning in 1951, he worked in radio, newspapers and television in North Carolina until his retirement in December 1992. His principal employers were radio station WGAI and The Daily Advance in Elizabeth City, The Norfolk Virginian-Pilot, The News and Observer in Raleigh, the Greensboro News and Record and the University of North Carolina Television. He was managing editor of the Daily Advance 1967-1968 and came to Raleigh from there to be The News and Observer's first chief copy editor. Later he was a state government reporter for that paper and wrote a daily column for it from 1971-1977. He wrote a weekly column for the Greensboro paper 1982-1990, and appeared on the UNC-TV weekly news analysis program "NC This Week" during its eight-year run. For three years he was Moderator of the program. He was also a member of the management staff of ElectiCities of North Carolina 1977-1982.
In addition to the books he produced with his wife, he was author of "75 Years of Service" (1983), a history of NC League of Municipalities, and "The Strange Language of Electricity," a glossary.
He was raised in White River Junction, Vt., served in the U.S. Marine Corps in World War II and was wounded in the battle for Iwo Jima. He graduated from the University of Pennsylvania (1949) and attended graduate school there.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, J. Elizabeth "Liz" Aulis, and a grandson, Michael D. Aulis-Hill, both of Raleigh.
The family will receive friends Thursday from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home, 1701 East Millbrook Road.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Aquatics Dept. of Oberlin Rd., Y.W.C.A. or to a charity of one's choice.
RICHARD H. "DICK" CAUM
SELMA - Richard Hughes "Dick" Caum, age 77, died Tuesday. Mr. Caum retired from the US Army as a Chief Warrant Officer and later worked for Boeing at the Kennedy Space Center.
A memorial service will be held Thursday evening at 7 p.m. at Edgerton Memorial United Methodist Church on West Anderson St. in Selma.
Surviving are: his wife, Mary Alice Grant Caum; a daughter, Peggy Fath of Titusville, FL; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at the church immediately following the memorial service.

CHARLES COUNCIL CLARK SR.
PITTSBORO - Charles Coucil Clark Sr., 75, of 195 Pine Street, Moncure, died Monday in the VA Hospital in Durham. He was a native of Chatham County and was employed in product distribution with tools. He was a veteran of the US Army in World War II.
A Memorial service will held 2 p.m. Thursday in Griffin Funeral Service chapel conducted by Rev. Matt Garrett.
Surviving are two daughters, Donna Faye Cassil of Elkin and Joyce Geradine Hull of Durham; two sisters, Isabell C. Eubanks and Jennie Hackney both of Pittsboro; one son, Charles C. Clark, Jr. of Moncure; two brothers, Robert Lee Clark of New Bern and Marcus Ross Clark of Apex; and eight grandchildren.
Family received friends from 7-9 p.m. Wednesday at Griffin Funeral Service.

JAMES HERBERT CRUMP
ABERDEEN - James Herbert Crump, 64, of 192 Collinswood Dr., Aberdeen, NC died Monday, May 3, 1999 at his home. A memorial service will be held Thursday, May 6, 1999 at the First Baptist Church in Aberdeen with Rev. Mike Branscome officiating.
Born in Pinebluff, NC, he was a math professor at the College of The Albemarle in Elizabeth City, NC when the community college opened in 1961.
He is survived by his wife: Shelvey Simmons Crump of the home; son, James Gary Crump of Emerald Isle, NC; and a daughter, Wanda J. Bergan of Southern Pines, NC; brother, Bobby Crump of Powhatan, VA; and two grandsons.
The family will receive friends at the home.

MARGARET HOLDING FLAHERTY
RALEIGH - MargaretHolding Flaherty, 92, longtime resident of Raleigh, died Tuesday, May 4.
Mrs. Flaherty was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and the Four Square Sunday school class.
She was preceded in death by her husband, J.B. Flaherty, and her parents, Bessie and Mallie Holding.
Mrs. Flaherty is survived by her son, Rupert, his special friend, Emily Scott of Wilson; grandchildren, Shane Flaherty of Creedmoor and Shawn Ell of Raleigh and her great-grandchild, Jordan Ell of Raleigh.
The funeral service will be 11 a.m. Friday, May 7, in the First Presbyterian Church and will be officiated by Dr. Edwin Stock Jr. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery.
The family will receive friends following the service in the church.

She is survived by: husband, Marvin B. MYRON KESLER GUPTON
ROCKY MOUNT - Myron Kesler Gupton, 75, died Tuesday, May 4, 1999 at Nash General Hospital. He was born July 23, 1923 in Nash County, the son of the late George E. and Mary Belle Coggin Gupton. Mr. Gupton retired from the US Navy serving for 20 years in World War II, Korean, and Vietnam. Mr. Gupton was a member of Corinth Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by a son, James Gupton, daughter, Carolyn Villasenor, sister, Evelyn Reed.
He is survived by his wife, Ruby Gupton; brothers, Charles Gupton of New Bern, George e. Gupton and Thomas Gupton, both of Charleston, SC; sisters, Mollie Jordon of Charleston, SC, Mae Purdy of Greensboro; three grandsons; two granddaughters; three great-grandsons; two great-granddaughters; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Friday, May 7, 1999 at Cornith Baptist Church with Rev. Michael W. Coggin officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Hill Cemetery.
