The funeral for Mary Goldie Yarborough Paylor, 80, of 1198 Semora Rd., who died Saturday, Nov. 22, 2003, at her home, will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 29, in Mill Hill Baptist Church by the Rev. Frederick Wilson. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Surviving are a son, John (Buck) Paylor of Roxboro; two stepdaughters, Jessie Evans of Ohio and Lillie Mae Blizzard of Petersburg, Va.; three sisters, Odessa Faulkner of Rennslaer, N. Y., Alma Russell of Richmond, Va. and Carrie Jefferies of Jersey City, N. J.; a brother, William Yarborough of Long Island, N. Y.; and three grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 28, at Mill Hill Baptist Church.
Arrangements are by Hester-Whitted-Day funeral Service.

Wilson Smith
The funeral for Wilson Smith, 65, who died in White Plains, N. Y., will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday, Nov. 28, in Cedar Grove Baptist Church by the Rev. Garland C. Ragland and the Rev. Jesse Timberlake. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Mr. Smith was a native of Person County, the son of the late Anthony and Lula Mae Smith.
Surviving are his wife, Alice Smalls Smith; five sisters, Pauline Jones, Mable Gentry and Shirley Goods, all of Roxboro, and Ellen Bradsher and Elizabeth Hughes, both of Durham; three brothers, William McClary of Durham, Anthony Smith of Germany and Walter Smith of Roxboro; and two Godchildren.
Visitation will be from 1 p. m. to 6 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 27, at Cunningham & Nelson funeral Home and at other times at the home of Mable Gentry, 2201 Mollie Mooney Rd.
The body will rest at the church Friday for one hour prior to the service.

Lori P. Wilson
The funeral for Lori Lee Poole Wilson, 22, of 70 Barnette Tingen Rd., who died Monday, Nov. 24, 2003, in UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill, will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday, Nov. 28, in Brooks & White Funeral Home chapel by pastor Frankie Reaves and the Rev. Harry Brown. Burial will be in Ellis Chapel United Methodist Church cemetery.
Mrs. Wilson was a native of Durham, the daughter of the late Jeffrey Scott Poole. Her late brother was Nathan Scott Poole.
She was a homemaker.
Surviving are her husband, Jason Royce Wilson; her daughter, Kaylee Renee Wilson;her mother and stepfather, Wanda Jackson and William Arthur Howerton of Rougemont; three brothers, David Howerton, Stephen Howerton and Jason Howerton; her maternal grandmother, Emma Gates of Roxboro; her paternal grandparents, Tom and Alma Poole of Bahama; and her maternal great-grandmother, Ruby Huff of Timberlake.
Pallbearers will be Brian Powell, Lennie Cook, Waylon Wilson, Blake Ashley, Chris Adams, Justin Cole, Chip Stone, Tim Huff and Randy Wilson.
Visitation will be from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 27, at Brooks & White Funeral Home and at other times at the home of he great-grandmother, 142 Parsonage Rd., Timberlake.

Amy D. Yoder
SANFORD — The funeral for Amy Lori Davis Yoder, 39, of 2804 Sandy Creek Church Rd., Sanford, who died Sunday, Nov. 23, 2003, at Central Carolina Hospital, will be conducted at 2 p.m. today, Nov. 26, in Cool Springs Baptist Church by the Rev. Ira Sutton and the Rev. Mark Meadows. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Mrs. Yoder was a native of Columbus County, the daughter of the Rev. Ernest L. and Faye Morton Davis of Hurdle Mills, who survive.
She was a fourth grade teacher at Broadway Elementary School.
A member of Cool Springs Baptist Church, she served on the Children’s Council Committee.
Surviving in addition to her parents are her husband, Frank Lee Yoder Jr.; a son, MacKenzie Aaron Yoder of the home; and three brothers, Ernest Lee Davis Jr. of Durham, Chester A. Davis of Hurdle Mills and Gary W. Davis of Raleigh.
Memorials may be made to Cool Springs Baptist Church Building Fund, or to The MacKenzie Aaron Yoder Scholarship Fund, c/o BB&T, Broadway, NC 27505.

Bessie B. Dickerson
The funeral for Bessie Buchanan Dickerson, 96, formerly of 2291 Gentry Ridge Rd., who died Thursday, Nov. 27, 2003, at Cambridge Hills Assisted Living Center, will be conducted at 2 p.m. today, Nov. 29, in Mill Creek Baptist Church by the Rev. Tommy Robertson. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Mrs. Dickerson was a native of Person County, the daughter of the late Grover C. and Gertie Mae Young Buchanan. Her late husband was H. Dewey Dickerson.
She was a member of Mill Creek Baptist Church.
Surviving are five sons, Charles D. Dickerson and wife, Ruth, of Durham, Alvin C. Dickerson and wife, Audrey, John W. Dickerson and wife, Sandra, and Leon G. Dickerson and wife, Paula, all of Roxboro, and Richard L Dickerson and wife, Carol, of Winston-Salem; a daughter, Louise Dickerson Pleasant and husband, James, of Johnson City, Tenn.; two brothers, G. C. Buchanan Jr. and Wayne Buchanan, both of Roxboro; 14 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Bruce Dickerson, Paul Dickerson, David Dickerson, Kevin Dickerson, Michael Dickerson, Carroll Pleasant, Scott Pleasant and Gary Pleasant.

Alfred Ellis
SEMORA — Funeral arrangements were incomplete Friday for Alfred Ellis, 75, of 4014 McGhee’s Mill Rd., who died Friday, Nov. 28, 2003 in a farming accident.
Mr. Ellis was a native of Durham County, the son of the late Levi and Mary Teasley Ellis.
He was retired from the North Carolina National Guard with 21 years of service.
Arrangements are by Brooks & White Funeral Home.

Sterling A. Hunter
The funeral for Sterling Angel Hunter, 94, of 169 Old Durham Rd., formerly of Brookneal, Va., who died Wednesday, Nov. 26, 2003, at Person Memorial Hospital, was conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 28, in Henderson Funeral Chapel in Brookneal by the Rev. Patrick Collins. Burial was in the Callaway-Henry Family Cemetery in Brookneal.
Mrs. Hunter was a native of Halifax County, Va., the daughter of the late Alonza Angel and Effie Wright Angel. Her late husband was Willie Frank Hunter. Her late sons were Edward Hunter and Everette Hunter.
She was a member of Brookneal Baptist Church.
Surviving are a son, Stafford Hunter and wife, Virginia, of Brookneal; a daughter, Judy Gatewood and husband, Nelson, of Roxboro; two brothers, James Angel of Jacksonville, Fla. And Conway Angel of Brookneal; two sisters, Nellie Dalton of Gretna and Janie Booker of Brookneal; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Nathaniel D. O’Steen
A memorial service for Nathaniel Duane O'Steen, 23, of Henderson, who died Sunday, Nov. 23, 2003 in Chapel Hill, was conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 28, in Hall-Wynne
Funeral Home chapel.
Mr. O’Steen was a native of Chapel Hill, the son of Kellie H. and Faron O'Steen of Roxboro, who survive. His late grandparents were Norman M. Herndon and Gordon and Doris O'Steen.
He was a member of Gorman Baptist Church.
He was an avid hunter and fisherman.
Surviving in addition to his parents are two sons, Hunter Nathaniel O'Steen of Philadelphia, Pa. and Tyler Walker O'Steen of Henderson; a sister, Lauren Page O'Steen of Roxboro; his maternal grandmother, Martha Herndon of Durham; and grandparents, Jean and Richard House of Durham.

Marvin R. Robinson
The funeral for Marvin Rountree Robinson, 85, formerly of 12223 U. S. 501, who died Thursday, Nov. 27, 2003, at Carolina House of Durham where he resided for the last 18 months, will be conducted at 11 a.m. today, Nov. 29, in New Bethel United Methodist Church by the Rev. Brenda Walton. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Mr. Robinson was a native of Orange County, the son of the late David (Bud) and Estelle Crabtree Robinson. His late brothers were Royal, Leyman, Clifton, and Willard Robinson, and his late grandson was Timmy Fowler.
He retired from the City of Durham in 1980.
He was a member of New Bethel United Methodist Church and the Masonic Lodge.
Surviving are his wife of 58 years, Mary Blackard Robinson; two sons John M. Robinson and wife, Sandi, of Raleigh and E. Dudley Robinson and wife, Rosalin, of Durham; two daughters, Rosemary Fowler and husband, Tim, of Durham and Rebecca Newsome and husband Joe, of Raleigh; a sister, Gladys Laws of Rougemont; eight grandchildren, Shannon L. Robinson, Tracie F. Johnson, Heather R. Price, Mary-Elizabeth Robinson, Michael D. Robinson, Emily L. Newsome and J. Clay Newsome; and two great-grandchildren, Sam B. Johnson and Jackson T. Price.
Pallbearers will be Michael Robinson, Jeff Johnson, David Hicks, Michael Blackard, C.B. Dunnegan and Marion Miller.

Myrtice B. Woody
The funeral for Myrtice Brooks Woody, 97, of Roxboro, who died Wednesday, Nov. 26, 2003, will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 30, in Roxboro Baptist Church by the
Rev. Lewis Wall and the Rev. DuPre Sanders. Burial will be in Burchwood Cemetery.
Mrs. Woody was a native of Hendersonville, the daughter of the late Charles Edward and Hazel Johnson Brooks. Her late husband was J.J. (Dick) Woody.
A graduate of Greensboro College, she taught first grade in Person County schools for 30 years.
She was a member of Roxboro Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday school for more than 50 years, was a former director of the WEE School and director of the WMU.
She was a member of the Roxboro Eastern Star, a former member of the Delta Kappa Gamma-Ada Chapter and the Thursday Literary Club.
Surviving are a daughter, Barbara W. Frederick and husband, Leon, of Albemarle; a son, James J. Woody Jr. and wife, Darcus, of Roxboro; a sister, Irene B. Tomlin of Roxboro; a half brother, C.E. Brooks of Mount Dora, Fla.; five grandchildren, John J. Frederick of Little River, S.C., Charles L. Frederick of Hendersonville, Laura F. Averette, of Cary, Deanne W. Maynard, of Chapel Hill and James J. Woody III, of Oak Island; and six great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Gordon Allen, Norman Bowen, James Carver, Bobby Harris, Terry Phillips, David Satterfield and Winkie Wilkins.
The family will receive visitors from 1 p.m. to 2 p. m. prior to the service. Memorials may be made to the Forward by Faith Fund at Roxboro Baptist Church, P.O. Box 348, Roxboro, NC, 27573.

Sue J. Thomas
The funeral for Sue Jay Thomas, 65, of 884 Jones Lester Rd., who died Tuesday morning, Nov. 26, 2003, at Person Memorial Hospital, will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 30, in Old Mt. Zion Baptist Church by the Rev. Marcus Vann. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Surviving are her husband, Ronald Thomas; four children, Ronald Thomas Jr. and Ronetta Gattis, both of Roxboro, Sterling Thomas of Springfield, Va. and Tony Thomas of Montclair, Va.; five sisters, Bessie Lee and Dorothy Lunsford, both of Roxboro, Marion Henderson and Edith Moore, ,both of Durham and Beulah Thomas of Newark, N. J.; two brothers, Mack L. Jay of Roxboro and Ivory Jay of Baltimore, Md.; and seven grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 7p.m. to 8 p.m. today, Nov. 29, at Old Mt. Zion Baptist Church.
Arrangements are by Hester-Whitted-Day Funeral Service.

Eddie F. Zimmerman
The funeral for Eddie Flint Zimmerman, 86, of 155 Alva Oakley Rd., who died Wednesday morning, Nov. 26, 2003, at his home, was conducted at 4 p.m. Friday, Nov. 28, in Brooks & White Funeral Home chapel by Elder David Minter. Burial was in the Carver Family Cemetery in the Five Forks Community.
Mr. Zimmerman was a native of Person County, the son of the late Edward Boswell and Mollie Bett Long Zimmerman.
He was retired from Collins & Aikman Corp.
He was a U. S. Army veteran of World War II.
Surviving are his wife, Mary Oakley Zimmerman; a daughter, Dianne Z. Lamb and husband, Carlton, of Rocky Mount; two sons, Gordon Neal Zimmerman and wife, Pam, and Mark Eddie Zimmerman and wife, Pam, all of Roxboro; a brother, Guy Zimmerman of Roxboro; four sisters, Ruth Davis and Alma Wilkerson, both of Roxboro, Nora Lewis of Danville, Va. and Mary Rudder of Elon College; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren;
Pallbearers were Blake Wilborn, Dwight Oakley, Andy Oakley, Calvin Oakley, Jerry Zimmerman, Buddy Zimmerman, Richard Oakley and Arnold Oakley.
Memorials may be made to the Person County Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Wayne Evans
The funeral for Wayne Evans, 58, of 114 Evans Reagan Rd., who died Wednesday, Jan. 21, 2004, at Person Memorial Hospital, was conducted at 2 p.m. Friday, Jan. 23, in Brooks & White Funeral Home chapel by the Rev. Herbert Brown. Burial was in Theresa Baptist Church cemetery.
Mr. Evans was a native of Person County, the son of Frances Long Evans of Roxboro, who survives, and the late John D. Evans.
He was employed by Jimmy Lewis & Sons as a backhoe operator for many years.
He was a U.S. Air Force veteran of the Vietname War.
He was a member of Theresa Baptist Church.
Surviving in addition to his mother are his wife, Sybil Reagan Evans; two sons, Scott Evans and Steven Evans, both of Roxboro; a daughter, Melissa Evans Vidrine and husband, Robert, of Kernersville; a brother, John Dayton Evans; four sisters, Diane Whitlow of Roxboro, Gail Fuller of Timberlake, Donna Harris of Oxford and Cindy Kidd of Roxboro.
Pallbearers were employees of Jimmy Lewis & Sons.

Eileen H. Miley
PHOENIX, Ariz. — A memorial service for Eileen Henson Miley, formerly of Brighton, Mich., who died Thursday, Jan. 15, 2004, at the home of her daughter in Arizona, will be conducted on April 4 at a time and place to be announced.
|Mrs. Miley was a native of Leeds, England. Her husbands were the late Jim Henson and the late Robert Miley. Her late son was Terry and her late daughter was Charlene.
She was employed by the City of Brighton for 17 years, working for the water department and the Brighton library. She was also employed by Conely Engines for several years and was employed by several car dealerships in and around Brighton.
She had been a member of the TBPA (English Warbrides) since the early 70s.
She was in the Royal Air Force during World War I.
Surviving are two daughters, Jeanette Lawrence Smith and husband, Dick, of Phoenix, Ariz., and Debbie Lynn Pavlovich and husband, Milan, of Hurdle Mills; a son, Randy Henson of Brighton; a step-son, Robert Miley; a step-daughter, Camille Miley; two brothers, Kenneth and Dennis, both of England; nine grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to Brighton Library.

Malcolm B. Whitt
The funeral for Malcolm Beam Whitt, 66, of 1417 Stone Dr., who died Thursday, Jan. 22, 2004, at Person Memorial Hospital, will be conducted at 2 p.m. today, Jan. 24, in Strickland Funeral Home chapel by the Rev. Craig Willingham and the Rev. Tim Bowes. Burial will be in Person Memorial Cemetery.
Mr. Whitt was a native of Person County, the son of the late Eddie Carlton and Edna Lacks Whitt.
He was retired from Techtool.
He served in the National Guard for 17 years.
He was a member of North Roxboro Baptist Church.
Surviving are his wife, Brenda Gentry Whitt; three sons, Aaron Keith Whitt of Rougemont, Malcolm Scott Whitt of Roxboro, and Darian Dale Whitt of the home; a daughter, Tammy W. Harris of Hurdle Mills; three brothers, Carlton Whitt Jr. of Bahama, Danny L. Whitt of Kannapolis and Joe Whitt of Rougemont; a sister, Brenda Kay W. Walker of Roxboro; and three grandchildren, Robbin Denise Harris, Jordan Dale Whitt and Brent Anthony Whitt.
Pallbearers will be Robbie Gentry, Patrick Smith, Hugh Ray Stewart, Mike Tingen, Lee Wallace, and Ronnie Zickafoose.

Shirley O. Powell
ROANOKE RAPIDS — The funeral for Shirley Overton Powell, 68, of 1901 Hwy. 48, Roanoke Rapids, who died Sunday, Jan. 25, 2004, at her home, will be conducted at 11 a.m., Thursday, Jan. 29, in Hockaday Funeral Home chapel by the Rev. Robert Dean. Burial will be in Cedarwood Cemetery.
Mrs. Powell was the daughter of the late Ollie M. and Susie R. Harris Overton. Her late husband was Clarence H. Powell.
She was the owner and operator of Sunny Dale Trailer Park.
She was a member of Smith United Methodist Church.
Surviving are two daughters, Barbara P. Clapton and husband, Danny, of Roanoke Rapids, and Linda P. Oakley and husband, Bernie, of Timberlake; a son, C.H. Powell Jr. and wife, Doris, of Roanoke Rapids; a brother, Marshall E. Overton of Roanoke Rapids; six grandchildren, Dan Clapton of Roanoke Rapids, Mark Clapton of Wilmington, the Rev. Gregory H. Powell of Wake Forest, Jennifer Powell of Roanoke Rapids, Heather Oakley and Kristy Oakley, both of Timberlake; and two great-grandchildren, Jordan and Peyton Clapton, both of Roanoke Rapids.
