Bessie Odell Sharpe, 81, of Chesapeake, Va., died Friday, Aug. 29, 2008 at Sentara Heart Hospital in Norfolk, Va.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Hemby-Willoughby Mortuary Chapel with the Rev. Patrick J. Walker officiating.
A private burial will be held at Harris Family Cemetery.
A viewing will be held from noon-2 p.m. Saturday at Hemby-Willoughby Mortuary.
Funeral arrangements are by Hemby-Willoughby Mortuary in Tarboro.
ALEXIS L. HARRELL
Macclesfield — Alexis Lynn Harrell, 19, died Sunday, April 25, 2010.
A graveside service will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday morning in the Macclesfield Cemetery with the Rev. John Melancon officiating.
Alexis was preceded in death by her mother, Vickie Lynn Allen Harrell, and maternal grandmother, Elizabeth Jefferson Allen.
She is survived by her father, Michael Alex Harrell of Macclesfield; two step-brothers, Kenny Harrell and Colby Harrell, both of Macclesfield; maternal grandfather, Durwood Allen of Macclesfield; paternal grandparents, Amos and Janie Harrell of Pinetops; an aunt and uncle, Lisa and Bennett York of Macclesfield; two cousins, Kelsey York and Montant York, both of Macclesfield; and several other aunts, uncles and cousins.
The family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. today at 112 Edgewood Drive in Pinetops and at 3039 State Road 124 West, Macclesfield.
Arrangements are by Carlisle Funeral Home, Tarboro.
HORACE WILKINS
Horace Wilkins, 57, of Tarboro, died Sunday, April 25, 2010 at Hospice of Greenville.
Funeral services will be noon Saturday at Conetoe Chapel Missionary Baptist Church in Conetoe with the Rev. Richard E. Joyner officiating.
Interment will be at Wilkins Family Cemetery in Conetoe.
A viewing will be held from 2-8 p.m. Friday at Hemby-Willoughby Mortuary.
Funeral arrangements are by Hemby-Willoughby Mortuary in Tarboro.
MADELINE HOLMES
Madeline Holmes, 79, of Rocky Mount, died Sunday, April 25, 2010 at Nash General Hospital in Rocky Mount.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Leggett Chapel Baptist Church in Leggett with the Rev. Willie Taylor officiating.
Interment will be at the Rocky Mount Memorial Park.
A viewing will be held from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday at the church.

Janet Hendricks, 47, of, Scotland Neck, died Monday, April 26, 2010 at Pitt County Memorial Hospital in Greenville.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Tillery Chapel Baptist Church with the Rev. Cooley Wade officiating.
Burial will follow in Davis Family Cemetery in Halifax.
A viewing will be held from 3-8 p.m. Friday at Mutts-Willoughby Funeral Home.
Funeral arrangements are by Mutts-Willoughby Funeral Home in Scotland Neck.
MARY EVELYN ROSE THORNTON FREEMAN
Mary Evelyn Rose Thornton Freeman, 85, of Charlotte, passed away Tuesday April 27, 2010 at Presbyterian Hospital.
She was born Sept. 28, 1924 in Edgecombe County, daughter of the late George and Mary Kathryne Moore Rose.
Mrs. Freeman was a charter member of Albemarle Road Presbyterian Church, a graduate of Rocky Mount School of Nursing class of 1947, Charlotte Quilter’s Guild and Shamrock Senior Center.
She was an avid gardener and loved the outdoors and being with her family.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her first husband, Guy R. Thornton Sr., and second husband, Lacy Freeman.
The family will receive friends from 5:30-7:30 p.m. today at Albemarle Road Presbyterian Church, 6740 Albemarle Road, Charlotte NC 28212.
A service will follow at 7:30 p.m. at the church with the Rev. Ron Tippens officiating.
The family extends an invitation to the graveside service 2 p.m. Sunday at Sharon Memorial Park.
She is survived are four sons, Guy R. "Mike" Thornton Jr. and wife Betty of Florence, S.C., George M. "Jake" Thornton of Charlotte, John P. "Pat" Thornton and wife Linda of Waxhaw, and Larry D. Thornton and wife Teresa of Mint Hill; a daughter, Joanne Thornton Waggy of Raleigh; a brother, Curtis Rose of Crisp; a sister, Doris Hearn of Wilson; nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Funeral arrangements are by McEwen Funeral Service in Charlotte.

ROCKY MOUNT — Crawford Eugene “ Gene” Hyman, 55, died Thursday, Aug. 19, 2010.
Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Carlisle Funeral Home with Rev. Jim Rawls officiating.
Burial will follow in Mildred Missionary Baptist Church cemetery.
He is survived by his loving family, including his wife, Zilphia Hyman; two sons, Capt. Chad Hyman of the U. S. Army and wife, Julie, of Fayetteville, and Eric Hyman and wife, Karen, of Tarboro; a step-son, Lee House and wife, Sherry, of Greenville; his parents, Carlton and Virginia Hyman, of Tarboro; four brothers, Clifton Hyman and wife, Lynn, of Knoxville, Tenn., Danny Hyman, of Tarboro, Gary Hyman and wife, Melissa of Tarboro and Lynn Hyman and wife, Wanda, of Tarboro; a sister, Mary Aycock and husband, Marshall, of Tarboro; and three grandchildren, Brandon, Michael and Emily House.
The family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. today at Carlisle Funeral Home and other times at the home, 1099 Ellis Road, Tarboro.
