RUSSELL PIERCE
Russell Pierce, 75, died Tuesday, Dec. 18, 2007 at Pitt County Memorial Hospital in Greenville.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in Pinetops Cemetery with the Rev. Danny Harris officiating.
Mr. Pierce was born in Pender County to Clyde Bradford and Mary Susan Wells Pierce.
He retired from Pilot Freight Carrier after 20 years of service.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Etta Moore.
He is survived by his loving family that includes his wife of 53 years, Judy Hadnott Pierce; three sons, Russell Wayne Pierce, Danny Pierce and wife, Vanessa, and Phil Pierce and wife, Beverly, all of Pinetops; two daughters, Diane Farmer of Rocky Mount and Lynette Marlow and husband, Dennis, of Pinetops; nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Friends are invited to visit the family from 7-9 p.m. today at Carlisle Funeral Home in Tarboro.

SOPHIA ELAINE KNIGHT FREE-WORTHINGTON
Sophia Elaine Knight Free-Worthington, 50, died on Saturday, Dec. 15, 2007 at Moses Cone Hospital in Greensboro.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Cherry Hill Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Jessie Williams officiating.
Interment will follow at Eastlawn Memorial Gardens.
A wake will be held from 7-8 p.m. Thursday at Hemby-Willoughby Funeral Home Chapel in Tarboro.
Survivors include her husband, William L. Worthington, of the home; a son, Elliot Free of Greensboro; her father, O.D. Knight; four brothers, Earnest Knight, Ronnie Knight, William Knight and Carl Knight; and a sister, Shirley Johnson.

JOE 'TOOTIE' FREEMAN
Joe "Tootie" Freeman Jr., 69, of Pinetops died Thursday, Dec. 13, 2007 at Heritage Hospital in Tarboro.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Hemby-Willoughby Mortuary Chapel in Tarboro with the Rev. Elder Robert Williams officiating.
Burial will follow at Buddy-Hemby Cemetery in Fountain.
A viewing will be from 2-8 p.m. Friday at Hemby-Willoughby Mortuary.
Survivors include three daughters, Tina Sumler of Battleboro, Marian Jones of Richmond, Va., and Gail Jones of Tarboro; a brother, Warren Freeman of Pinetops; four sisters, Winnie Mae Bynum of Manhattan, N.Y., Pauline Lassiter of Selma, and Juanita Gunter and Hattie Freeman, both of Pinetops; six grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and two great great-grandchildren.

AGNES M. HASLETT
Agnes Minton Haslett, 90, formerly of Suffolk, Va., died Tuesday, Dec. 18, 2007, at The Fountains of The Albemarle in Tarboro.
Survivors include her two sisters, Louise M. Mizell of Tarboro and Annie M. Williams of Baton Rouge, La.; two sisters-in-law, Margie Minton of Tarboro and Helen Haslett of Suffolk, Va.; and several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday at Cedar Hill Cemetery in Suffolk with the Rev. Michael D. Halley officiating.
The family will receive friends from 12:30-1:30 p.m. Friday in the R. W. Baker and Co. Funeral Home and Crematory in Suffolk, Va.

James Darrin Hyman, 43, of Tarboro died Wednesday, Dec. 19, 2007.

GLADYS McTOOTLE
Gladys McTootle, 99, of Scotland Neck died on Tuesday, Dec. 18, 2007 at Heritage Hospital in Tarboro.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Friday at the Shiloh Baptist Church in Scotland Neck with the Rev. Hoyt Cooper officiating.
Burial will follow in the Kehukie Church Cemetery in Scotland Neck.
A viewing will be from 6-7 p.m. today at the Mutts-Willoughby Funeral Home in Scotland Neck.
Survivors include two sons, Herman and Norwood McTootle; four daughters, Laura Camp, Veronica Borders, Cora Worsley and Gladys Lockley; two brothers, Cleveland Taylor and Robert Taylor; two sisters, Eunice Young and Dorothy Davis; and 12 grandchildren.
