Maude Maxine Gattis Pittman, 72, died Wednesday, Sept. 3 at her home, surrounded by her family.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Sunday, Sept. 7 at Carlisle Funeral Home with the Rev. Tony Smith officiating.
Burial will follow in Edgecombe Memorial Park.
Maxine was born in Halifax County to Clifford & Mattie Bland Gattis.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her 17 year old grandson, Jonathan Paul Cruse; sisters, Elizabeth Mason & Nora Lee Pittman, and a brother, Clifford “Little Buddy” Gattis, Jr.
She leaves to cherish her memories:
her husband of 55 years, Henry Fitzhugh Pittman;
sons, Glenn Pittman & wife, Jean of Tarboro
Mike Pittman of Dortches
daughters, Linda Barber & husband, Marlin of Tarboro
Brenda Cruse & friend, Nelson Vinson of Rocky Mt., and
Rita Wadsworth of Pinetops;
grandchildren, James Barber & wife, Heather, Krystle Cruse, Lynn White, Christa Pittman, Chad & Brent Pittman, Heather Pittman, and Samantha & Steven Wadsworth;
great-grandchildren, David & Kailee White, “Little” Ted Pittman, Dylan Webb, and Rehanna;
sisters, Virginia Williamson, Helen Hushour, and Ruby Askew, all of Suffolk, Va.;
brothers, Dale Sandefur of NC
Robert Earl Gattis of Norfolk and George Gattis of TN
Family will receive friends 7-9 PM, Saturday at Carlisle Funeral Home and other times at the home, 61 Allerton Lane, Temperance Hall.

Mary Thompson Leggett, 82, died Monday, September 8 at Heritage Hospital.
Funeral service will be held at 3:00 PM, Thursday, Sept. 11 in the chapel of Carlisle Funeral Home.
Burial will follow in Edgecombe Memorial Park.
Mrs. Leggett was preceded in death by her sons, J.E. Leggett, Jr., Curtis Leggett, and Tracy Leggett, and grandson, Blake Williams.
She is survived by her husband of 66 years, Julius E. Leggett;
children, Daniel Leggett, Sr.,
Susan Leggett Williams,
and Richard Leggett & wife, Barbara, all of Tarboro;
grandchildren, Daniel L. Leggett, Jr., Mary Beth Williams, Christy Leggett, all of Tarboro, and Chris Leggett, Brianna Leggett Woods, and Amanda L. Leggett, all of Alabama;
great-grandchildren, Kyle & Chase Leggett and Damian Williams;
sister, Edna Clay of Roanoke Rapids;
brother, Ronald Thompson & wife, Bruce of Tarboro

Ann Watson Boyd Parks, 78 died Monday, September 15 at Pitt Memorial Hospital, Greenville.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Thursday, Sept. 18 at Trinity Baptist Church with Dr. Phillip Dietz officiating.
Burial will follow in Edgecombe Memorial Park.
Mrs. Parks was born in Beaufort County to Hubert H. & Sallie Respass Watson.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Colby Boyd.
She is survived by a loving family that includes her husband, Seward Parks;
son, Jeff Boyd & wife, Beth of Jacksonville, Fla.;
step-daughters, Laura Harris of Tarboro
and Martha Carson of Raleigh;
granddaughter, Sandy Boyd Pond & husband, Jeffrey of Jacksonville, Fla.;
great-grandchildren, Kathryn and Brandon Pond;
sister, Peggy Rose of Belhaven;
brother, Hubert H. Watson,Jr. of Belhaven
The family will receive friends 7-9 PM, Wednesday, September 17 at Carlisle Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Trinity Baptist Church Building Fund, 730 W. Wilson St., Tarboro, NC 27886.
Jimmie Gray Johnson

Jimmie Gray Johnson, Sr., 63, died Friday, Sept. 19 at his son’s home in Garner, NC.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Monday, Sept. 22 in the chapel of Carlisle Funeral Home with the Rev. Jim Wilson officiating.
Burial will follow in Oak City Cemetery.
Mr. Johnson was preceded in death by his parents, Johnnie & Ida Brown Johnson and a brother, Willie Gene “Buddy” Johnson.
He was a proud veteran having served in the US Navy.
He later worked for Edgecombe Electric Company for over 20 years.
He is survived by his sons, Jimmie Johnson, Jr. & wife, Melinda of Tarboro,
Chad Johnson of Hobgood, and
Brandon Johnson & wife, Mary Margaret of Garner;
brother, James “Froggy” Johnson & wife, Grace of Tarboro;
sisters, Margie “Sis” Lewis & husband, Richard of Virginia,
Peggy “Sue” Bell & husband, Ray of Belvoir, Greenville, and
Mary Ann “Tink” Sopko of Roanoke Rapids;
six grandchildren, Carmen, Mackenzie, Matthew, Nicole, Wilson, and Chad Johnson, Jr.
Friends are invited to visit the family 7-9 PM, Sunday at Carlisle Funeral Home and other times at Mr. Johnson’s home, 522 Fishing Creek Rd., Tarboro.

Sandra Lou Braddy, 48, died Tuesday, September 23 at Pitt County Memorial Hospital in Greenville.
She is survived by her life-partner of 27 years, Sharon Kaye Savage;
daughter, Kimberly Johnson and granddaughter, Ashley Lauren Johnson, both of Wilmington, NC; brother, Donald Mitchell Hatchel and wife, Laurie of Monroe, NC;
special nephew, Clinton Lee Braddy of Tarboro;
great-aunt, Ella Raynor of Tarboro;
several other nieces and nephews;
along with extended members of the Savage family.
The family will be receiving friends at the home of Shawn & Amy Todd, 619 Tammy Drive, Tarboro.
A memorial service will be held, to be announced at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations are being accepted at Carlisle Funeral Home.
