SHELBY — Mr. David H. Camp, 53, of 2653 Taylor Road, died Monday, Dec. 5, 2005, at Hospice at Wendover.

FOREST CITY — Mr. Shannon Ray Guffey, 33, died Monday, Dec. 5, 2005, at his home.

Frank Hamrick Jr.
MOORESBORO — Mr. Frank Elliott Hamrick Jr., 86, of Steel Bridge Road, died Monday, Dec. 5, 2005, at his home.
He was a native of Cleveland County and the son of the late Henry Frank and Annie Louise Humphries Hamrick. He was a World War II Air Corps veteran and a member of Mount Pleasant Baptist Church, where he was a former deacon, Sunday school teacher and trustee. He retired from Cone Mills Corp. He was a farmer and an avid gardener, selling his produce in Cleveland and surrounding counties.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Eldon, Buren, Bob and John Henry Hamrick, and one sister, Daisy Spangler.
He is survived by his wife, Frances Jenkins Hamrick; one son, John Hamrick and wife, Aletta, of Mooresboro; three daughters, Elizabeth Roberts and husband, Gary (Cisco), and Margaret Edwards and husband, Harlan Jr., all of Shelby, and Lois Splawn and husband, Danny, of Mooresboro; one brother, David Hamrick and wife, Aileen, of Shelby; three sisters, Sara Condrey and husband, Robert, of Forest City, Rose Hamrick Greene of Arden and Mary Elizabeth (Tootsie) Cromer and husband, R. T., of Mooresboro; nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
A celebration of life will be Wednesday at 2:30 p.m. at Mount Pleasant Baptist Church, with the Revs. Bobby Gettys and Ronald McSwain officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends this evening from 6 to 8 at McKinney-Landreth Funeral Home in Cliffside.

Eddie McCraw Sr.
BLACKSBURG, S.C. — Mr. Eddie Dean McCraw Sr., 77, of 114 Beam Road, died Monday, Dec. 5, 2005, at Cleveland Regional Medical Center.
Mr. McCraw was born in Gaffney and was the son of the late Shuford Edward and Lucy Whiten McCraw. He was a Navy veteran and worked in sales for the textiles industry. He was a member of Antioch Baptist Church, Blacksburg.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Annie Lucille Norman McCraw; brother, Jack S. McCraw; and two sisters, Francis McCraw and Betty McCraw Gibson.
He is survived by a son, Eddie Dean McCraw Jr. and wife, Becky, of Blacksburg; daughter, Lynn McCraw Rowland and husband, Tim, of Grover; sister, Barbara Carlton and husband, John David, of Summerton, S.C.; five grandchildren, Katy Morrison and Scott, Matthew McCraw, Lori Thompson and Christy McCraw, all of Blacksburg, and Leigh Ann Simmons and David of Fuquay Varina; and four great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be Wednesday at 4 p.m. at Antioch Baptist Church, with the Revs. Vernon Craig, Eric Sellars and David Saldo officiating. The body will be placed in the church 30 minutes before the service. Burial will follow in Clingman Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers are Paul Bivens, Kenneth McCraw, Grady Childers, Neal McCraw, Donnie Beam and Randy Beam.
The family will receive friends this evening from 7 to 9 at Gordon Mortuary and other times at the home of Lynn Roland, 317 Briarcliff Road, Grover.

Newlin Schenck
SHELBY — Mr. Newlin Pyle Schenck, 78, of 316-4 Lamar Ave., died Wednesday, Dec. 7, 2005, at Cleveland Pines Nursing Center.
He served as secretary and treasurer of Lily Mills Co. for many years and retired as president of Belding Lily Co. After the closing of Belding Lily, he rejoined the staff of Cleveland Mills Co. in Lawndale as director of purchasing until his retirement in 1990.
He was a longtime member of Shelby Rotary Club, which honored him as a Paul Harris Fellow, and he served as its president in 1970-71. He also served on the Cleveland Memorial Hospital Board for many years and as chairman for several years. He was a member of Cleveland Masonic Lodge 202. He was one of the organizers of The Salvation Army in Cleveland County, and the Cleveland County Boys Club, Life Enrichment Center, Cleveland Vocational Industries and Hospice of Cleveland County were also part of his many activities.
He was a lifelong member of First Baptist Church of Shelby, where he was a Sunday school teacher for a period of time and a deacon for several years. In addition, he served as a director of First National Bank and was director emeritus at the time of his death.
He graduated from Davidson College in 1948. He served in the Korean War with the 5th Regimental Combat Team. While in the Army, he was awarded two Purple Hearts.
His parents, John Franklin Schenck Jr. and Evelyn Pyle Schenck; and a brother, John Schenck III, preceded him in death.
He is survived by his wife, Rachael Spangler Schenck; sons Hal Emerson Schenck and wife, Judy Bickett Schenck, of Atlanta; Mark Benjamin Schenck and wife, Susan Kelly Schenck, of Gastonia, and their daughter, Allison, and son, Andrew; daughter, Leslie Schenck Cofer and husband, Don Cofer, of Matthews and their daughters, Kali and Kathryn; brother, Michael Schenck and wife, Joanne, of Shelby; sister-in-law, Glenda Schenck of Hickory; brother-in-law, Dr. Harold B. Spangler and wife, Martha Robinson Spangler, of Meadows of Dan, Va.; and a number of loving nieces and nephews.
The funeral, with military honors, will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at First Baptist Church, with the Rev. Tony Tench and Dr. Robert Canoy officiating.
The family will receive friends at the church’s Dover Activities Center after the funeral.
Mr. Schenck can be viewed Saturday from 9 until noon at Cecil M. Burton Funeral Home.
The family would like to thank Cleveland Pines Nursing Center for their love and support, with special appreciation for his caregivers, Mary Short, Kesha Hayes and Sarah Coleman. Newlin loved his fellow man with a passion, especially those less fortunate.

RUTHERFORDTON — Mrs. Daisy Michael, 75, of 230 New Hope Road, died Thursday, Dec. 8, 2005.

BOSTIC — Mrs. Judie Greene Humphries, 95, of 351 Waters Road, Bostic, formerly of Crawley Road, Shelby, died Wednesday, Dec. 7, 2005, at Rutherford Hospital.
A daughter of the late Teen and Rachel Greene, she was a homemaker and member of Sandy Plains Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, her husband, Lawerence Humphries, preceded her in death.
She is survived by two daughters, Catherine White of Bostic and Ray Beaver of Boiling Springs; four grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Sandy Plains Baptist Church, with the Rev. Joel Dale officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the church one hour before the service.

Maye Caraway
GROVER — Miss Maye Caraway, 81, formerly of Grover, died Wednesday, Dec. 7, 2005, at Hospice at Wendover, Shelby.
She was the daughter of the late Jessie and Mittie Judge Caraway. She was a native of Hickory, Miss., but lived in Memphis, Tenn., for 40 years. For the past five years, she lived in Grover and attended First Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one aunt, Eva Willis; and one uncle, Ollie Judge.
Four cousins survive her, Billy J. “B.J.” Willis and wife, Evelyn, of Grover; Billy Judge and wife, Jessie, of Baton Rouge, La.; O. D. Judge and wife, Joyce, of Liberty, Miss.; and Robert Judge and wife, Lois, of Sunset, La.
A celebration of life service will be Sunday at 3 p.m., graveside, at Hickory Cemetery, Hickory, Miss., with the Rev. John West officiating.
White Columns of Blacksburg, S.C., is serving the family locally. Webb Funeral Home, Newton, Miss., is serving the family in Mississippi.

CLINTON, Md. — Mrs. Catherine V. Thompson, died Wednesday, Dec. 7, 2005.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ollie Walker and Marie Suit; brother, Matthew Walker; sister, Evelyn Walker; and grandson, Jason Hubbard.
She is survived by her husband, Robert L. Thompson; four daughters, Kathleen Thompson, Cissy Hubbard, Debbie Diamandaras and Arlene Lail; eight brothers; three sisters; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Lee Funeral Home Inc., Branch Avenue and Coventry Way, Clinton. Burial will follow in Resurrection Cemetery, Clinton.
