SHELBY — Mrs. Elizabeth Collier, 92, formerly of Grover, died Sunday, Sept. 25, 2005, at Cleveland Pines Nursing Center in Shelby.
The funeral will be Thursday at 3 p.m. at Shiloh A.M.E. Zion Church, Grover, with the Rev. Leroy Ellison officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends Thursday 30 minutes before the service at the church.

Bill McKillop
PALM BAY, Fla. — Mr. William Richard McKillop, 80, of 265 Arens Road, died Sunday, Sept. 25, 2005, at Carnegie Gardens Nursing Center in Melbourne, Fla.
A memorial service will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Ascension Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Jeffery Erbskorn officiating. military rites will be presented by the Air Force.
The family will receive friends Saturday 30 minutes before the service at the church and at other times at the home of his son, Dale and Gail McKillop, 1815 Arbour Way Drive, Shelby.

John Paul
SHELBY — Mr. John Howard Paul, 62, of 4008 Sharon Circle, died Monday, Sept. 26, 2005, at home.
A memorial service will be Saturday at 3 p.m. at Cecil M. Burton Funeral Home Chapel.
The family will receive friends Saturday an hour before the service at the funeral home.
Nerva Brown
SHELBY — Mrs. Nerva Jane Smith Brown, 83, of 2422 Elizabeth Ave., died Friday, Sept. 23, 2005, at home.
A native of Cherokee County, she was the tenth child of the late Jim and Lindy Smith. She was a retired cook who worked for Lenoir-Rhyne College in Hickory for 20 years. She retired from Don’s Pancake House in Shelby. She was a member of Williford Temple and was affectionately known as “Mother Brown.”
She loved cooking and it was a joy for her to see people eating what she cooked. She was very family oriented and stressed to her family about staying close to one another. She also loved flowers, especially roses and her crape myrtles.
She was married for 68 years to the late Houston Brown, who preceded her in death earlier this year. She was also preceded in death by two sons, Jimmy Brown and Samuel Brown; a grandson, Troy Parrish; five brothers and five sisters.
She is survived by four sons, Steve Brown (Diane), Joe Brown and Sylvester Brown, all of Shelby, and Calvin Brown (Valerie) of Kings Mountain; five daughters, Pauline Parrish, Betty Stroud (Robert), Ann Mauney and Sandra Wilson (Clifford), all of Shelby, and Rebecca Gamble of Bessemer City; 38 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; 20 great-great-grandchildren; a special niece, Dorletha Grantt of Buffalo, N.Y.; and a host of other nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
The funeral is today at 2 p.m. at Williford Temple Holiness Church, with Bishop Andrew Williford officiating. Burial will follow in Webb Memorial Lawns.
The family will receive friends today at the church 30 minutes before the service.

SPINDALE — Mrs. Carolyn Lou Morris Jolley, 63, died Sunday, Sept. 25, 2005, at Rutherford Hospital.
The funeral will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at First Baptist Church, with the Rev. Allen Thomason and Dr. Wayne Blackwood. The body will be placed in the church 30 minutes before the service. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park, Forest City.
The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 9 at Crowe’s Funeral Home.

CHERRYVILLE — Mr. Justin Lance Jefferies, 21, of 637 Old Post Road, died Monday, Sept. 26, 2005, at Cleveland Regional Medical Center.
The funeral will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at First Baptist Church, with the Rev. Fred May officiating. Burial will follow at City Memorial Cemetery in Cherryville.
The family will receive friends Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Carpenter’s Funeral Home.

Ed Davis
FOREST CITY — Mr. Clarence Edward “Ed” Davis, 70, died Sunday, Sept. 25, 2005, at home.
A native of Rutherford County, he was a son of the late Vergil and Florence Lenora Ledford Davis. He was a Navy veteran of the Korean War and was retired from PPG Industries. He was a member of High Shoals Baptist Church and was a former deacon. He was a member of the Forest City Masonic Lodge No. 460 and Scottish Rites. He was an avid fisherman and outdoorsman.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Margie Tipton Davis, and a son, Marty Davis.
He is survived by his wife, Helen T. Davis; a son, Doug Davis and wife, Earlene, of Lawndale; a daughter, Robin Myers and husband, Scott, of Tryon; two stepsons, Dale Roach and wife, Shelley, of Lancaster, S.C., and Terry Roach and wife, Shelley, of Marion; a stepdaughter, Greta Randall of Raleigh; two brothers, J. D. Davis and wife, Marge, of Ellenboro and Steve Davis and wife, Wanda, of Forest City; two sisters, Elizabeth Evans of Ellenboro and Carolyn Crawley of Forest City; five grandchildren, John Roach, Elizabeth Roach, Alex Roach, Brittany Roach and Tyler Roach.
The funeral will be Wednesday at 3 p.m. at High Shoals Baptist Church, with the Rev. Eugene Passmore officiating. Burial will follow in Concord Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends tonight from 6:30 to 8:30 at McKinney-Landreth Funeral Home.

‘Joy’ Harrelson
CHERRYVILLE — Mrs. Joyce “Joy” Faye Nance Harrelson, 73, of 413 Flint Hill Road, died Monday, Sept. 26, 2005, at Cleveland Pines Nursing Center in Shelby.
The funeral will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. in Cone Memorial Chapel of Carpenter’s Funeral Home, with the Rev. Keys Pendleton officiating. Burial will be private.
The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 8 at the funeral home, on Wednesday an hour before the service and at other times at the home.
George Amaya
ATLANTA — Mr. George Amaya, 55, died Sunday, Sept. 25, 2005.
Born in Weymouth, Mass., and raised in Bogota, Colombia, he was a son of Jean Kierstead Amaya of Shelby and the late Jamie Leon Amaya. He graduated from Presbyterian College in Clinton, S.C., served in the Army from 1971 to 1973, and was employed as tennis director at Cherokee Town and County Club in Atlanta for 25 years.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Mary Adair Amaya; a daughter, Katie (Kate) Amaya; five brothers, Jim Amaya and wife, Pat, of Miami, Fla., Dr. Juan Amaya and wife, Debbie, of Orlando, Fla., Robert Amaya and Dickie Amaya and wife, Marywinn, all of Shelby, and Dr. Enrique Amaya and wife, Dr. Nancy Popalopulo, Cambridge, England; a sister, Mary Jane Amaya and husband, Jose Manuel Gomez, of Granada, Spain; a sister-in-law, Alicia Romero Adair, wife of the late Chris Adair; and many beloved nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be Wednesday at 3 p.m. at Peachtree Presbyterian Church, with Drs. Mark Crumpler of Atlanta and Tom Stallworth of Clinton officiating. Burial will be in Rosemont Cemetery, Clinton, on Thursday at 3 p.m.
The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 8 at H. M. Patterson & Son Oglethorpe Hill Chapel, 4550 Peachtree Road, Atlanta.

Rubye Reynolds Terrell
SHELBY— Mrs. Rubye Reynolds Terrell, 95, of Cleveland Pines Nursing Center, formerly of 231 Edgewood Drive in Boiling Springs, died Saturday, Sept. 24, 2005, at Cleveland Regional Medical Center.
A native of Buncombe County, she was the wife of the late James Orville (Dean) Terrell and the daughter of the late Robert Mitchell Reynolds and Maude Reeves Reynolds.
She was a graduate of Leicester High School and received her B.S. degree from Asheville Normal College. She did graduate work at Appalachian State Teacher’s College and George Peabody College.
She was a charter member of Boiling Springs United Methodist Church, where she served as pianist and first president of the Women’s Society of Christian Service, which was organized in her home, and later renamed United Methodist Women. She was a member of the administrative council and of the Christian Fellowship Class. She also served as church historian and communion steward.
She taught in North Carolina public schools for 24 years — eight years in Buncombe County and 16 years at Mooresboro Elementary School, from which she retired in 1960.
She has served as an active member of the Gardner-Webb College Woman’s Club, the Boiling Springs Garden Club, the Philsonian Book Club, North Carolina Retired School Personnel and the Heritage Club of Gardner-Webb College.
In 1989 she received special recognition from the United Methodist Women of Boiling Springs for her years of service. She contributed to many church, college and civic organizations, as well as to church and college scholarships.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Hugh Reynolds, and a sister, Ruth Lura Reynolds.
Survivors include a sister-in-law, Elise Terrell of Sylva; a nephew, Byron Terrell, and a niece, Tamara Terrell, both of Fletcher, and nieces Carol Terrell Church, Genevieve Ann Terrell Gumpertez, and Maudie Jo Terrell Bowman, all of California.
The funeral will be Tuesday at 3 p.m. at Boiling Springs United Methodist Church with the Rev. Ed Lee officiating.
Burial will follow in Cleveland Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends at the church one hour before the service.
