GASTONIA — Mrs. Sandra C. Monroe, 54, of 1512 Robbins St., died Friday, Sept. 2, 2005, at Carolina’s Specialty Hospital in Charlotte.
A graveside service will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Westview Gardens, with the Revs. Bobby Gilley and Sam Barnette officiating.
The family will receive friends Tuesday from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. at Harris Funeral Home and other times at the home.
“Trig” Elmore Jr.
LINCOLNTON — Mr. Forest Burton Elmore Jr., 86, of 701 W. Main St. Ext., died Friday, Sept. 2, 2005.
The funeral will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Gainesville Baptist Church, with the Rev. Malcom Ivey officiating.
Burial, with military rites, will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery in Lincolnton.
The family will receive friends Tuesday from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Warlick Funeral Home.

SHELBY — Mrs. Etta Belle Bizzell Leach, 55, of 512 Goldwater St., died Friday, Sept. 2, 2005, at 710 Cherryville Road, Shelby.
The funeral will be at Genesis Chapel Tuesday at 1:30 p.m., with the Rev. Toney Macomson officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Cemetery.
The family will receive friends 30 minutes before the service at Genesis Chapel and other times at the home of her daughter, Angela Leach, at 710 Cherryville Road.
Dwight Parker
LAWNDALE — Mr. Dwight Hazel Parker, 61, of 148 Big Hill Road, died Friday, Sept. 2, 2005, at home.
A native of Cleveland County, he was the son of the Carnie Hazel and Annie Mae Hull Parker of Casar. He was a band saw operator for Century Furniture of Hickory.
He is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Melinda and Steve Mullinax of Lawndale; a granddaughter, Heather Mullinax of Lawndale; a brother, Dewitt Parker of Valdese; a sister, Bonnie Lindsay of Vale; and a number of nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be Monday at 2 p.m. at Olive Grove Baptist Church, with the Rev. Terrill Crump officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The body will be placed in the church 30 minutes before the service.
The family will receive friends today from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at Stamey Funeral Home.

KINGS MOUNTAIN — Mr. Randy Ray Childers, 55, of 654 Dixon School Road, died Wednesday, Aug. 31, 2005, at home.
Born in Cleveland County, he was a son of Odus Ray Childers of Kings Mountain and Virginia Gilliam Monahan of Blackwater, Va. He was an accountant and a member of Dixon Presbyterian Church.
His stepmother, Catherine Dover Childers, preceded him in death.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by a brother, Ricky Childers of Rancho Murieta, Calif.; two uncles, James A. Childers and wife, Margaret, and Robert Childers and wife, Alda Faye, all of Kings Mountain; two aunts, Mary Goforth and Annie Mae Berry and husband, Tom, all of Kings Mountain; and a niece, Stephanie M. Childers of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.
The funeral is today at 11 a.m. at Ollie Harris Memorial Chapel, with the Revs. Randy Patterson and Alan Sinclair officiating. Burial will be in Mountain Rest Cemetery.

CHARLOTTE — Mrs. Judy Faye Chavis, 48, native of Shelby, died suddenly Thursday, Sept. 1, 2005.
The funeral will be at 3 p.m. Sunday at True Gospel Holiness Church, 3843 Lake Road, Charlotte.
The family will receive friends at the church tonight from 7 to 9, and an hour before the service.

VALE — Mr. Jasper Swain Hartman Jr., 73, a native of Cleveland County, of 8244 Macedonia Church Road, died Friday, Sept. 2, 2005, at home.
The funeral will be at 3 p.m. Sunday at Stamey Funeral Home in Fallston, with the Rev. Marcus Redding officiating. Burial will be in Macedonia United Methodist Church Cemetery.

FOREST CITY — Mr. Jack Newton, 84, of 249 Knollwood Drive, died Friday, Sept. 2, 2005, at Rutherford Hospital.
The funeral will be at 3 p.m. Sunday at First United Methodist Church, with the Rev. David Hughes Hobson officiating. Burial will follow in Cool Springs Cemetery, with full honors by the Rutherford County Veterans Council Honor Guard.
Family will receive friends in the church parlor an hour before the service.

Catherine Mizell
REDDING, Calif. — Mrs. Catherine Dale Mizell, 77, died Thursday, Aug. 4, 2005, at Mercy Medical Center in Redding.
She was born July 24, 1928, in Shelby, and moved to Shasta County from Shelby in 2001. She was a deli manager for Safeway grocery stores in Northern Virginia and a Redding mall walker.
She is survived by her husband, Don Mizell of Redding; a son, Jerry Standridge of Redding; three daughters, Jane Johnson of Burke, Va., Linda Morrill of Post Falls, Idaho, and Rebecca Daily of Reno, Nev.; three brothers, William S. McCurry of Savannah, Ga., Clifford McCurry of Shelby and Don McCurry of Earl; three sisters, Elizabeth DeBrew and Mary Jo Hester, both of Shelby, and Jane Harris of Charlotte; 10 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
A private memorial service will be Saturday at 5 p.m. at Sunset Cemetery, with the Rev. C. T. Harris officiating.

CHERRYVILLE — Mrs. Macey Deveney Moss, 91, of 909 Mary’s Grove Road, died Thursday, Sept. 1, 2005, at home.
A native of Gaston County, she was born Nov. 10, 1913, a daughter of the late James Marvin and Margaret Jarrells Deveney. She was a homemaker and member of Missionary Methodist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, George Washington Moss.
She is survived by two sons, Joe Moss of Cherryville and Fred Moss of Waco; a sister, Edna D. Homesley of Cherryville; two granddaughters, Tammy Moss and Denise M. Mull and husband, Rodney, all of Cherryville; a grandson, Tim Moss and wife, Sandra, of Waco; and three great-grandchildren, Brandon Moss, Cameron Novell and Ryan Mull.
The funeral will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at Missionary Methodist Church, with the Rev. Bobby Holtsclaw officiating. Burial will follow in Cherryville City Memorial Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Saturday from 1 to 1:45 p.m. before the service at the church and at other times at the home.

CHARLOTTE — Mrs. Judy Noble, 49, died Wednesday, Aug. 31, 2005, at home.
Born in Tolucca, she was a daughter of the late Edgar Adam Wright and Lois McNeilly Wright. She had resided in Charlotte since 1987 and was employed by Home Realty and Management, LLC as a bookkeeper. She was a member of Cokesbury United Methodist Church. She enjoyed gardening, working around the yard and entertaining family and friends.
She is survived by her husband of 18 years, Steve Noble of the home; a son, Christian Dale Noble of the home; a sister, Joyce Welch and husband, Gene, of Gastonia; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
The funeral will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at Cokesbury United Methodist Church, with the Rev. John Moore officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen City Cemetery.
