Eva Robinson
SHELBY — Mrs. Eva Helen Patterson Robinson, 73, of White Oak Manor, died Friday, Aug. 19, 2005, at Hospice at Wendover Heights in Shelby.
A native of Cleveland County, she was born April 6, 1932, a daughter of the late Joe Willis and Stella Self Willis Ledford. Mrs. Robinson was a homemaker and a Baptist.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Horace Lee Patterson; two brothers and four sisters.
She is survived by her three daughters, Helen Crane and Ann Riley and husband, Bobby, both of Shelby and Pam Smith and husband, Keith of Blacksburg, S.C.; a son, Butch Patterson of Kings Mountain; a sister, Frances Page of Cherryville; eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be Monday at 11 a.m. in Cone Memorial Chapel of Carpenter’s Funeral Home with the Rev. Fred Helms Jr. officiating.
Burial will follow in Mountain Rest Cemetery in Kings Mountain.
The family will receive friends today from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the funeral home and other times at the home of Ann and Bobby Riley, 102 Forest Park Drive in Shelby.

Thelda James
SHELBY — Ms. Thelda James, of 102 Delmar Road, died Saturday, August 20, 2005, at Cleveland Regional Medical Center.

John Falls Jr.
LAWNDALE — Mr. John Franklin Falls, Jr., 88, of 353 E. Stagecoach Trail, died Friday, Aug. 19, 2005, at Hospice at Wendover.
A native of Cleveland County, he was born June 24, 1917. He was a retired inspector for the N.C. Department of Transportation. He was a lifelong member of New Bethel Baptist Church and a member of the Jim Cline Sunday School Class. Mr. Falls was known to children of the church as the Juicy Fruit Man. He was also a member of the Burns Football Booster Club.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Jean Runyan Falls; parents, John Franklin Falls Sr. and Hattie Irene Costner Falls; six brothers, W.E. Falls, Ambrose Falls, Otis Falls, Vess Falls, Cline Falls and George Thurman Falls; four sisters, Vangie Mincey, Mae Borders, Ella Royster, Mary Catherine Falls and one grandchild, Christopher Norman Porter.
He is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Stephen L. and Jane Falls of Lawndale; a daughter and son-in-law, Brenda F. Norman Porter of Kannapolis; four granddaughters and their husbands, Stephanie P. and Derek Reavis of Simpsonville, Jennifer P. and Grant Hitchner of Mooresville, Shelley P. and Shane Hutchison of Johnson City, Tenn., and Cassie F. and Jim Roebuck of Raleigh; four great-grandchildren, Emily Reavis, Kaitlyn Reavis, Jackson Hitchner and Grayson Hitchner and a sister, Ruth Falls Hamrick of Lattimore.
The funeral will be Monday at 2:30 p.m. at New Bethel Baptist Church in Lawndale with the Rev. Ronell Owensby officiating.
Burial will follow in Rose Hill Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends today from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Stamey Funeral Home.

Julia Williams
KINGS MOUNTAIN — Mrs. Julia Patterson Williams, 89, of 138 Ware Loop Drive, died Saturday, Aug. 20, 2005, at Century Care Nursing Home in Shelby.
She was a daughter of the late John Bunyan and Annie Carroll Patterson.
She was a member of David Baptist Church and the Hardin Sunday School Class. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Her first love was spending time with her family and friends. She will be greatly missed by all. She also enjoyed word search puzzles, baking, gardening and bowling.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, John B. Williams. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Paul Patterson and Lloyd Patterson, and two sisters, Margaret Thornburg and Helen Hamrick, all of Kings Mountain.
She is survived by her son, Johnny Williams and wife, Maxine of Kings Mountain; two daughters, Betty Ware and husband, Bob, and Annie Blanton and husband, Norman, all of Kings Mountain; a brother, Eugene Patterson of Kings Mountain; two sisters, Rosa Bell of Kings Mountain and Louise Hord of California; six grandchildren and their spouses, Steve Ware and wife, Jean, Vickie Dalton and husband, Mike, Christa Williams, Charity Tolbert and husband, Jamie, Sharon Nivens and husband, Jay and Chris Blanton and wife, Red; eight great-grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren.
The funeral will be Monday at 11 a.m. at David Baptist Church in Kings Mountain with the Rev. Jody Griffin officiating.
Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Kathryn Lucas
SHELBY — Mrs. Kathryn Spake Lucas, 84, of 1261 Spake Circle, died Saturday, August 20, 2005, at Cleveland Pines Nursing Center.
A native of Cleveland County, she graduated from Shelby High School Class of 1938. She retired after 37 years from Southern Bell Co. She worked as a chief clerk of the traffic department and retired in the plant department.
She was a member of First Baptist Church and the Jacky Stone Sunday School class and Sue Hudson Bible Study Group. She was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America, American Legion Auxiliary, Warren F. Hoyle Post 82, a member and past president of the V.F.W. Auxiliary Post 4066, Volunteer for the Greater Cleveland County Baptist Association and the American Red Cross where she served on the board of directors and donated many gallons of blood.
She was preceded in death by her parents, James Lee and Clara Camp Spake.
She is survived by a husband of 62 years, Morris L. Lucas; a son, Walker Lee Lucas of the home; a daughter, Nancy Lucas of Shelby; a sister, Claudia Dedmon Borders of Shelby and several loving nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held Monday at 2 p.m. at Cleveland Memorial Park with the Rev. Tony Tench officiating.
The family will receive friends today from 4 to 5:30 p.m. at Cecil M. Burton Funeral Home.

Cassie Pangle
SHELBY — Mrs. Cassie Jane Crowe Pangle, 87, of 541 W. Sumter St., died Thursday, Aug. 18, 2005, at Hospice at Wendover.
Born May 10, 1918, in Rutherford County, she was a daughter of the late John Oliver Crowe Sr. and Sarah Campbell Crowe. She retired in 1978 from the Civil Service in Fort Monroe, Va. as a word processor supervisor. She previously attended Hampton Memorial Baptist Church in Hampton, Va. She attended Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, Ky., and was known for her pound cakes and her love of immaculate grounds keeping.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Chief Warrant Officer, John Phillip Pangle, who passed away in 1960; five brothers, Buren Crowe, James Ryburn Crowe, Boyd Crowe, Norris Crowe and Grady Crowe; and two sisters, Ethel Crowe Bridges and Letty Crowe Hullander.
She is survived by a brother, John O. Crowe Jr. and wife, Catherine Apple Crowe, of Mooresville; a sister, Essie Crowe Martin of Polkville; more than 40 nieces and nephews; a dear friend who was like a sister, Elizabeth DeBrew of Shelby; and a next door neighbor, Bea Allen.
The funeral will be Sunday at 3 p.m. at Clay-Barnette Funeral Home Chapel, with Dr. Marvin Gobble and the Rev. David Costner officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Sunday at the funeral home 30 minutes before the service and at other times at the home.

A.F. Elmore
SHELBY — Mr. A.F. “Junior” Elmore, 59, of 587 Pontiac Drive, died Thursday, Aug. 18, 2005, at home.
Born Aug. 14, 1946, in Cleveland County, he was a son of the late A.F. Elmore Sr. and Cluster Head Elmore. He was employed in the construction industry and attended Mellon Memorial Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters, Fannie Mae Champion, Rachel Powell and Bootsi Campo; and two brothers, Donald and Robert Elmore.
He is survived by his former wife and friend, Mary Elizabeth Elmore of Shelby; two sons, Dale Elmore and wife, Mae, and Danny Elmore and wife, Brandy, all of Shelby; three daughters, Ann Ledbetter and husband, Wayne, of Lawndale, Mary Elmore and fiancé, Adrian Lovelace, of Grover and Delores Elmore of Shelby; two sisters, Shirley McNeiley and husband, Willard, of Shelby and Marie Scott of Boiling Springs; two brothers, Roger Elmore of Polkville and Randy Elmore of Shelby; 11 grandchildren, Andy Owens and wife, Jessica, Ashley Jones and husband, Dwayne, Brian Owens, Chris Elmore, Leann Campbell, Brittany Johnson, Ariel Johnson, Erin Elmore, Troy Johnson, Kaylyn Elmore and Dylan Riddle; a great-grandchild, Dalton Owens; and his step-mother, Dorothy Elmore of Hickory.
The funeral will be Sunday at 1:30 p.m. at Clay-Barnette Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Fain Morrison officiating. Burial will follow in Community Baptist Church Cemetery in Polkville.

MOORESBORO — Mr. Bobby “Poss” Barnes, 73, of 2502 McCraw Road, died Friday, Aug. 19, 2005, at Fair Haven Nursing Center.
A native of Cleveland County, he was a son of the late Ben and Lily Foster Barnes. He was retired from Duke Power Company.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Debra Barnes Phillips.
He is survived by his wife, Reba Martin Barnes of the home; two daughters, Barbara Barnes Golden and husband, Lynn, of Charleston, S.C. and Lisa Barnes Moore of Mooresboro; a son-in-law, Dennis Phillips; two brothers, Garmon Barnes and Gill Barnes, both of Cliffside; two sisters, Rosa Lee Goforth and Joyce Norman, both of Cliffside; five grandchildren, Tim Phillips, Tyler Moore, Drake Moore, Grayson Golden and Wills Golden; and a great-grandson, Caleb Phillips.
A graveside service will be Sunday at 3 p.m. at Prospect Baptist Church Cemetery, with the Rev. Ernie Cole officiating.
The family will receive friends tonight at McKinney-Landreth Funeral Home from 7 to 9.

FOREST CITY — Mr. Floyd Clifton “Bill” Cochran, 85, of 1111 Chase High Road, died Friday, Aug. 19, 2005, at Rutherford Hospital, with his wife of 64 years at his side.
The funeral is today at 3 p.m. at Calvary Baptist Church, with the Revs. Tim Frashier and Johnny Bridges officiating. The body will be placed in the church an hour and a half before the service. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends today in the church fellowship hall from 1:30 to 3 p.m.

BOSTIC — Mr. James Berry “J. B.” Luckadoo, 72, died Friday, Aug. 19, 2005 in Forest City.

KINGS MOUNTAIN — Jordan Lanae Feemster, infant daughter of Lekisha and Jason Feemster died Thursday, Aug. 18, 2005, at Kings Mountain Hospital.
A graveside service will be Sunday at 3 p.m. at Adams Chapel/Galilee Church Cemetery, with Apostle Theron officiating.
