LAWNDALE — Mrs. Vivian Sanders, 44, of 1033 W. Stagecoach Trail, died Thursday, Aug. 25, 2005, at Carolinas Medical Center.
The funeral will be Sunday at 3 p.m. at Landmark Baptist Church, with the Revs. Alan Davis and Graham Lewis and Mr. Warren Shuford officiating.
Burial will follow at Palm Tree United Methodist Church Cemetery. Stamey Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
The family will receive visitors at the funeral home Saturday evening from 6 to 8.

RUTHERFORDTON — Mr. Larry Jennings, 57, of 261 Maple Creek Road, died Thursday, Aug. 25, 2005, at Hospice of Rutherford County.

Maggie Gilliam
SHELBY — Mrs. Maggie Lily Hamrick Gilliam, 99, died Wednesday, Aug. 24, 2005, at White Oak Manor in Shelby.
A native of Cleveland County, she was the daughter of the late Charles Albert and Addie Lily Love Hamrick. She was a member of Waddell Chapel AME Zion Church and a former member of the Mutual Christians Burial Aid Society.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Alvin Israel Gilliam; two sons, Jay Rue Gilliam and Talmadge Gilliam; a daughter, Orrie Gilliam; three brothers, Johnny Hamrick, Willie Hamrick and Hazel Hamrick; and two sisters, Mamie Hamrick and Louise Hamrick Sims.
She is survived by four daughters, Katie Rue Byers and Tasha Jeter, both of Shelby, Dorothy Elmore of Lawndale and Jeanie Hamrick Foxworth of Jamaica, N.Y.; 31 grandchildren; a number of great grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; a daughter-in-law, Frances Gilliam of Passaic, N.J.; a close cousin, Montilla Love of Shelby; and a special niece, Mary Frances Black of Shelby.
The funeral will be Saturday at 4 p.m. at Waddell AME Zion Church, with the Rev. Clarence Roberts officiating. Burial will follow at Webb Memorial Lawns.
The family will receive friends at the church 30 minutes before the service and at other times at the home of her granddaughter, Patricia Shade of 1219 Donna Drive, Shelby.

SHELBY — Mr. Jacob “Junior” Jackson, 81, of 505 Martin St., died Thursday, Aug. 25, 2005, at Cleveland Regional Medical Center.

Charlotte Wilson
MARTINSVILLE, Va. — Mrs. Charlotte Seay Wilson, 74, of 635 Jeb Stuart Road, formerly of Long Branch Road in Grover, died Monday, Aug. 22, 2005, at Memorial Hospital in Martinsville.
Born April 20, 1931, in Henry County, Va., she was a daughter of the late John P. Seay and Bessie Foster Seay. She retired from Eaton Trucking Co. after 16 years of service. She was a member of Moral Hill Missionary Baptist Church and a former member of Washington Missionary Baptist Church in Waco.
She is survived by her husband, Martin Wilson of the home; a son, Steve Wilson and wife, Dianne, of Shelby; four brothers, Louis Seay and wife, Mary Anne, of Richmond, Va., and Ben Seay, Luther Seay and wife, Catherine, and Harry Seay and wife, Jean, all of Martinsville; four sisters, Nora Jackson and husband, Jack, of Philadelphia, Elizabeth Rayford of Salisbury, and Marie Seay and Belinda Breedlove and husband, Richard, all of Martinsville; a granddaughter, Krystal D. Wilson of Mooresboro; and a stepgrandson, Victor Norris and wife, Matilda, of Mooresboro.
The funeral is today at 2 p.m. at Moral Hill Missionary Baptist Church, with the Rev. Thurman O. Echols Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in Carver Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends at the church 30 minutes before the service and at other times at the home.

SHELBY — Lynette Juanay Flack, infant daughter of Jelinda Hopper and Santana Flack, both of Shelby, died Wednesday, Aug. 25, 2005, in Shelby.
In addition to her parents, she is survived by her maternal grandparents, Katheline Lott of Boiling Springs and James Hopper of Shelby; paternal grandparents, Alvin and Martha Flack of Shelby; maternal great-grandparent, Rosa Hopper of Lawndale; paternal great-grandparents, William and Nellie Young of Shelby and Ray and Mary Flack of Kingstown; two brothers, Kamari Hopper of Boiling Springs and Santana Flack Jr. of Shelby; and a sister, Kaniyah Flack of Shelby.
The funeral will be Sunday at 3 p.m. at Ellis Chapel Baptist Church, with the Rev. Ray Lockhart Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Faye Quinn
CHERRYVILLE — Mrs. Emma Faye Black Quinn, 69, of 1103 Requa Road, died Tuesday, Aug. 23, 2005, at home.
Born Feb. 16, 1936, in Gaston County, she was a daughter of the late Stowe Melton Black and Lula Mae Gilmore Black. She was a retired seamstress from Clar-Mar of Cherryville. She was a member of Mount Zion Baptist Church of Cherryville and a member of the Radiant Sunday School Class.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son and a daughter-in-law, David and Alesa Quinn, and a brother, Paul “Tobe” Black.
She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Gerald Leon Quinn; a daughter, Mitzi Quinn Rhea and husband, Monty, of Kings Mountain; a brother, Johnny Black of Cherryville; two sisters, Ruby Clough of Crouse and Anne Mae Short of Cherryville; and two godchildren, Chase Millwood-Jolley and Neely Jolley, both of Polkville.
The funeral will be Friday at 11 a.m. at Mount Zion Baptist Church, with the Revs. Wayne Key and Ken Gibson officiating. Burial will follow in City Memorial Cemetery.

Ethel Gillespie
SHELBY — Mrs. Ethel Eleanor Lovelace Gillespie, 94, of Cleveland Pines Nursing Center, died Tuesday, Aug. 23, 2005, at Cleveland Regional Medical Center.
Born in Cleveland County, she was a daughter of the late John B. Lovelace and Addie Mode Lovelace. She was a retired weaver from Cone Mills in Cliffside. She was a member of Trinity Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Guy M. Gillespie; a son, John D. Gillespie; three brothers, John Lovelace Jr., Jennings Lovelace and Jack Long; and five sisters, Reba Winn, Louise Gillespie, Nan Ramsey, Dot Condrey and June Lovelace.
She is survived by a daughter, Barbara G. Bishop and husband, Harold, of Mooresboro; a grandson, James Michael Bishop and wife, Natalie, of Shelby; three great-grandchildren, Lauren, Brent and Daniel Bishop, all of Shelby; a sister, Mary Lovelace Hawkes of Springfield, Ill.; two sisters-in-law, Pat Long of Spartanburg, S.C., and Lorraine Parris of Ellenboro; a brother-in-law, Howard Condrey of Ellenboro; and a number of nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be Friday at 3 p.m. at Trinity Baptist Church, with Dr. Ken Klinger officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends Friday at the church an hour before the service and at other times at 3426 McKinney Road, Mooresboro.

Mary Sinclair
INMAN, S.C. — Mrs. Mary Pearl Sinclair, 87, formerly of Forest City, died Sunday, Aug. 21, 2005, at Magnolia Manor in Inman.
A graveside service will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Adaville Baptist Church Cemetery in Spindale, with the Rev. James Daves officiating.
The family will receive friends Saturday at the cemetery after the service.

Wade Jordan
ROCKY MOUNT — Mr. Wade Garland Jordan, 85, died Wednesday, Aug. 24, 2005, at home after a long illness.
Born Dec. 18, 1919, in Zebulon, he was a son of the late Thomas Jordan and Sophronia Creech Jordan. He graduated from Smithfield High School and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Following service in the Army in World War II, he received his master’s degree from Colorado State University. He was employed by the Raleigh News and Observer as the Rocky Mount area distributor for 20 years before returning to teaching in the Nash County School System. He was a member of First Baptist Church.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 60 years, Betty Eskridge Jordan, formerly of Shelby; two sons, Dr. Wade T. Jordan and wife, Patricia, of Springfield, Mo., and Dr. David A. Jordan and wife, Wanda, of Burlington; five grandchildren, Megan Patricia Jordan, Katalin Elizabeth Jordan and Rebecca McKee Jordan of Burlington and Matthew Thomas Jordan and Sarah Elizabeth Jordan of Springfield; and a brother, L.R. Jordan of Anniston, Ala.
The funeral will be Friday at 11 a.m. at Wheeler & Woodlief Funeral Home in Rocky Mount, with the Rev. Larry Curtis officiating. Burial will follow at Rocky Mount Memorial Park.

Verlon Wright
SHELBY — Mr. Verlon Wright, 81, of 215 Young St., died Wednesday, Aug. 24, 2005, at Century Care of Shelby.
Born Aug. 20, 1924, in Cleveland County, he was a son of the late Vesco Wright and Vassey Pruitte Wright. He was a retired welder.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Haskel Wright and Theron Wright.
He is survived by two sons, Gregory Wright of Seattle, Wash., and Mitchell Wright of Wayne, Mich.; two daughters, Tina Altman and Janet Barber, both of Lincoln, Neb.; two brothers, Eddie Wright of Glen Alpine and Jimmy Wright of Virginia; a sister, Maxine Stacey of Glen Alpine; a longtime friend, Novella Smith of Shelby; and a number of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
The funeral is Friday at 2 p.m. at Stamey Funeral Home, with the Rev. Cecil Buff officiating.
Burial will follow in Pisgah Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Friday at the funeral home 30 minutes before the service.
