Christy Lovelace
KINGS MOUNTAIN — Christy Ann Lovelace, 2, of 177 Crown Court, died Wednesday, Jan. 26, 2005, at Kings Mountain Hospital.
Born in Cleveland County, she was a daughter of Ron Christ-opher and Kerri Sue Mote Lovelace of Kings Mountain.
In addition to her parents, she is survived by her grandparents, Phyllis Ann Ogle, Jack Ogle, Carl Michael Mote, Deb Pittman and Wayne Pittman; a brother, Christopher Jesse Lovelace of Kings Mountain; a sister, Brianna Nicole Stanley of Kings Mountain; and special friends, Andrei Reid and Linda Reid.
The funeral will be Monday at 3 p.m. at Royster Avenue Church of God in Shelby, with the Revs. Richard L. Shores and Eddie Ponder officiating. The body will be placed in the church 30 minutes before the service. Burial will follow in Shady Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at Palmer Mortuary Sunday from 5 to 6:30 p.m.
Ruby Allen
ELLENBORO — Mrs. Ruby Allen, 90, of 193 Ellenboro-Henrietta Road, died Friday, Jan. 28, 2005, at home.

Marlo Allen
SHELBY — Ms. Marlo Lanette Hopper Allen, 38, of 2417 S. Lafayette St., died Tuesday, Jan. 25, 2005, at Cleveland Regional Medical Center.
Born in Cleveland County, she was a daughter of Donald Roseboro of Shelby and the late Mary Martha Hopper. She was a member of New Ellis Chapel Baptist Church, where she served as an usher. She was attending Gaston College.
In addition to her father, she leaves to cherish fond memories one daughter, Alexis Hopper of the home; three sons, Donté Hopper and Tarian Bonds of the home and Tyqus Huff of Arizona; a goddaughter, Karon Barrow of Shelby; three sisters, Carla Lee (Carl) and Dana Hopper, both of Shelby and ShaDana Dawkins of Gaffney, S.C.; six brothers, Tondra “Bo” Hopper of Shelby, Courtney Dawkins of Gaffney, Emory LaGuins of Madison, Ga., Darrell Roseboro, Donald Roseboro and Gregory LaGuins, all of Shelby; one grandchild; a special cousin, DeDric Gingles; and many aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.
The funeral will be Monday at 3:30 p.m. at New Ellis Chapel Baptist Church, with the Rev. A. A. Ponder officiating. Burial will take place in Webb Memorial Lawns.
The family will receive friends at the church 30 minutes before the service.

Roy Penson Jr.
EASLEY, S.C. — Mr. Roy Penson Jr. 76, of 116 Carolyn Road, died Friday, Jan. 28, 2005, at Greenville Memorial Hospital.
Born in Lattimore, he was a son of the late Roy and Elizabeth Davidson Penson Sr. He retired from the Air Force after 20 years of service and later retired from the fire department at Donaldson Center in Greenville. He was a member of Welcome Baptist Church in Greenville, where he belonged to the Tal Garrett Sunday School Class. He was a beloved husband, father and grandfather.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Michael Massey; a brother; and two sisters.
He is survived by his wife, Jean Harrison Penson of the home; two sons, Richard A. Penson and wife, Patricia, of Easley and Joel L. Penson and wife, Trudy, of Anderson, S.C.; a daughter, Lynn Massey of Piedmont, S.C.; a brother, Bob Penson of Boiling Springs; four sisters, Morie Bridges, Lorie Greene and Sue Harris, all of Boiling Springs and Elizabeth Lee of Colorado Springs, Colo.; and three grandchildren, Melissa Massey, Casey Penson and Madison Penson.
The funeral will be Monday at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Robinson Funeral Home-Powdersville Road. Burial with full military honors will follow in Greenville Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Monday from 1 to 2 p.m. and at other times at the home.

Moss Sr.
FOREST CITY — Mr. Clarence P. Moss Sr., 96, formerly of Georgia Avenue, died Friday, Jan. 28, 2005, at Hillcrest Hospital in Simpsonville, S.C.
The funeral will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at First Baptist Church, with Dr. Barry K. Keys officiating. Burial will follow in Cool Springs Cemetery.
The family will receive friends in the church parlor an hour before the service.

Barbara Meeks
GROVER — Mrs. Barbara Jean Meeks, 51, of 122 Whippoorwill Court, died Friday, Jan. 28, 2005.
Born in Cleveland County, she was a daughter of the late J. C. Marlow and Dorothy Martin Marlow McDonald. She was a homemaker and a member of Hoey Memorial United Methodist Church.
She is survived by her husband, Derrell Meeks of the home; three sons, Joe Jones and wife, Deborah, of Grover, Rob Meeks and wife, Karen, of Lawrenceville, Ga., and Matt Meeks and wife, Lisa, of Statham, Ga.; a granddaughter, Christa Jones of Grover; two grandsons, Bo Meeks of Lawrenceville and Colby Meeks of Statham; three brothers, William Marlow of Shelby, Jerry Marlow of Waco and Terry Marlow of Bessemer City; and four sisters, Brenda Roper and husband, Richard, and Martha Roper and husband, Sam, all of Shelby, Diane Proctor and husband, George, of Fallston and Carol Davis and husband, Roger, of Casar.
The funeral will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at Cleveland Funeral Services, with the Rev. Allen Davis officiating. Burial will follow in Zion Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home today from 3 to 5 and at other times at the home of her sister, Diane Proctor, 154 Jim Cline Road, Fallston.

Robert Putnam
SHELBY — Mr. Robert Lee Putnam, 61, of 139 Sperling Drive, died Saturday, Feb. 5, 2005, at home.
A native of Cleveland County, he was an instructor in the electrical department at Cleveland Community College. He was a member of Waco Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Ola Hamrick Putnam; and a daughter, Kay Stamey
He is survived by his father, Marion A. Putnam; wife, Deloris Austin Putnam; a son, Bobby Putnam of Shelby; stepsons, Tommy Burnett and Bobby Burnett, both of Shelby; a stepdaughter, Wendy Lowery and her husband, Arthur, of Shelby; a sister, Grace Brackett and her husband, Dale, of Shelby; a grandson, Matthew Stamey; stepgrandchildren, Brent Lowery, Jason Lowery, Tommy Lee Sears and Clay Champion.
The funeral will be Tuesday at 3 p.m. at New Prospect Baptist Church, with the Rev. Tim Tapp officiating. Burial will follow in Capernium Cemetery.
The body will be placed in the church 30 minutes before the service.
The family will receive friends Monday night from 7 to 9 at Cecil M. Burton Funeral Home and other times at the home.

AUGUSTA — Mr. Ernest Mitchell Kirkendall, 90, died Friday, Feb. 5, 2005, at Aiken Regional Medical Center.
Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday in the chapel of Hatcher, Chance & Hydrick Funeral Directors with the Rev. Lloyd Greene and Rev. Johnny Bagwell officiating, Burial will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park. The family will receive friends this evening from 6 to 8 at the funeral home.

Leo Hector
LAWNDALE — Mr. Leo Hector, 83, died Wednesday, Feb. 2, 2005, in Lawndale. He was born in Oconee County, Ga., on June 11, 1921 to the late Earl Hector and Hezkiah Jones Hector. Mr. Hector was self-employed as a farmer.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Bephelia Hector and one brother, Alfonso Hector.
He is survived by three nieces, Arnetta Hector Williams “Cookie” of Shelby, Vernie Sue and Barbara Ann Hector of Hempstead, N.Y.; three nephews, Donald Hector of San Diego, Cal., David Hector (Bettye) and Samuel Hector of Providence, R.I.; a very special cousin, Mr. John F. Hector (Bessie) of Lawndale, and a host of relatives and friends.
Services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, at the Canaan Baptist Church in Shelby with the Rev. R.E. Devoe officiating. Burial will follow in Webb Memorial Cemetery. Family will receive friends 30 minutes before the funeral. Dockery Funeral Home is serving the family.

GASTONIA — Daphine Dellinger Watts, 75, of 800 South York Road, died Sunday, Feb. 6, 2005, at home.

Edith Waterson
CHERRYVILLE — Mrs. Edith Mae Shull Waterson, 86, of Carolina Care Center, formerly of Shelby Highway, died Friday, Feb. 4, 2005, at her residence.
She was born in Lincoln County on Dec. 20, 1918, a daughter of the late Joseph Moses and Frances Jane Collins Shull. She was a homemaker and a member of First Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John Alexander Waterson; son-in-law, Jack Wright; and six brothers and sisters.
Survivors include two sons, Tommy Waterson and wife, Brenda, of Cherryville and Lanny Waterson and wife, Wanda, of Gastonia; two daughters, Frances Choate of Lincolnton and Barbara Wright of Fallston; seven grandchildren, Kevin, Michael and Brian Choate, Dana Peeler, Alex Waterson, Angela Houser and Tim Wright; nine great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be Monday at 11 a.m. at First Baptist Church, with Dr. Vince Hefner officiating.
Burial will follow in City Memorial Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at Carpenter’s Funeral Home today from 5 to 7 p.m. and other times at the home of Tommy and Brenda Waterson, 604 Leeward Court, Cherryville.

FOREST CITY — Mr. Calvin Lavon Woods, 30, of 401 Duke St., Apt. 11, died Thursday, Feb. 3, 2005, at Rutherford Hospital in Rutherfordton.
The funeral will be Tuesday at 1 p.m. at The Jesus Lighthouse Tabernacle Church in Forest City, with the Rev. Ronnie Scott officiating.
Burial will follow in the Temple of Jesus Church Cemetery in Lake Lure.
The body will be placed in the church from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.
