LAKE LURE — Mr. Ralph Glenn Andrews, 57, died Tuesday, Jan. 18, 2005, at Rutherford Hospital.
A memorial service will be Saturday at 1 p.m. at Chimney Rock Baptist Church, with the Rev. Larry W. Sanders Jr. officiating.
Crowe’s Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
Sadie Marshall
HENRIETTA — Mrs. Sadie Crawley Marshall, 82, died Tuesday, Jan. 18, 2005, at home.
The funeral will be Friday at 2:30 p.m. at Harrelson Funeral Home, with the Revs. Lamar Hewitt and Perry Jones officiating. Burial will follow in Rutherford County Memorial Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Friday at the funeral home from 1 to 2:30 p.m.
Frances Holland
RUTHERFORDTON — Mrs. Frances Jones Holland, 75, of 112 Hardin St., died Tuesday, Jan. 18, 2005, at Rutherford Hospital after a long illness.
The funeral will be Friday at 2 p.m. at Harmon Street Baptist Church, with the Revs. Bob Hedgepath, Larry Holland II, and Wayne Toney officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Park in Forest City.
The family will receive friends at Crowe’s Mortuary tonight from 6 to 8 and at other times at the home of her son, Larry Holland, 1774 Tiny Road, Ellenboro.
Vicky Gettys
SHELBY — Mrs. Vicky Smith Gettys, 54, of 905 E. Main St., died Tuesday, Jan. 18, 2005, at Cleveland Regional Medical Center.
Born Dec. 15, 1950, in Cleveland County, she was a daughter of Helen Kendrick Smith of Shelby and the late Ezell Smith. She worked as an LPN at Cleveland Regional Medical Center and was a member of Bethel Baptist Church.
In addition to her mother, she is survived by her husband, Steve Gettys of the home; two daughters, Christy Slone and Ashley Gettys, both of the home; a granddaughter, Kayla Slone of the home; a brother, Steve Smith and wife, Helen, of Shelby; a brother-in-law, Bill Gettys of Earl; her mother-in-law, Wanda Gettys of Shelby; two aunts and uncles, Joyce and John Fitch and Delores “Wass” and Virgil Church, all of Shelby; and a number of special nieces, nephews and cousins.
The funeral will be Friday at 2 p.m. at Bethel Baptist Church, with Drs.. Tim Sims and J. M. Ezell officiating. The body will be placed in the church 30 minutes before the service. Burial will follow in Sunset Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at Clay-Barnette Funeral Home tonight from 6 to 7:30 and at other times at the home.
Mary Rudisill
SHELBY — Mrs. Mary McKinley Rudisill, 77, of 1577 Timberlake Drive, died Wednesday, Jan. 19, 2005, at Hospice at Wendover.
Born April 4, 1927, in Clinton, S.C., she was a daughter of the late Acie Clayton McKinley and Dora Lee Whitehead McKinley. She was a homemaker.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William C. Rudisill; two brothers, Ralph and T. H. McKinley; and three sisters, Vivian Stroupe, Bonnie Thackerson and Hazel Pritchard.
She is survived by a daughter, Sandra Thompson and husband, Robert, of Shelby; two sisters, Mildred Kiser of Shelby and Helen McKee and husband, Gene, of New House; a granddaughter, Heather Buckley and husband, Tony, of Fort Hood, Texas; a great-grandson, Tyler Shane Buckley; and many nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be Friday at 3 p.m. at Clay-Barnette Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Carolyn Sears officiating. Entombment will follow in Cleveland Memorial Park Mausoleum.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home before the service, from 1:30 to 3 p.m., and at other times at the home.

McArthur Mintz
DURHAM — Mr. McArthur Mintz, died Sunday, Jan. 16, 2005.
The funeral was Thursday at 2 p.m. at Thompson’s Funeral Home and Mortuary in Hickory.
The family will continue to receive friends at the home of Betty Pope, 1205 11th St. NW, Hickory.

Sterling Pryor
LAWNDALE — Mr. Sterling Maurice Pryor, 39, of 3755 Sugar Hill Road, died Monday, Jan. 17, 2005, at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte.
Born in Cleveland County, he was a son of the late Helen Woods and Larry Lee Pryor. He was employed as a machinist at Keystone Powdered Metal Co. in Cherryville and was a member of Plainview Baptist Church. He helped to organize a prayer group in both his workplace and church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Teddrick Pryor; an uncle, Bobby G. Pryor; maternal grandparents; and his father-in-law, Archie Costner.
He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Judy Costner Pryor; one son, Nakota Daniel Pryor of Lawndale; one daughter, Kirsten Rashay Pryor of Lawndale; his paternal grandparents, who raised him, Sadie Surratt Pryor and Ralph Lee Pryor of Shelby; two brothers, Tim Hoyle and Reddrick “Monty” Pryor, both of Shelby; two sisters, Helena Hunt (Yates) of Shelby and Wanda Gale Ross of Leesville, La.
Sterling was reared as a sibling to the following, Charles Pryor of Detroit, Mich., Ralph Pryor Jr. (Ann) of Shelby, Raymond Pryor (Brenda) of Concord, Craymond Pryor (Betty) of Shelby, Anthony Pryor of Shelby, Roger Meeks of Bessemer City, Franklin Meeks of Detroit, Joann McCoy (Robert) of Cincinnati, Ohio, Linda Meeks of West Beach, Va., Nevadaer Pryor of Shelby and Evelina Hamrick (Darryl) of Shelby.
He is also survived by his stepmother, Sadie Jackson Pryor of Shelby; a special aunt, Sandra Woods of Charlotte; his mother-in-law, Ruth Costner; a brother-in-law, Andrew Costner (Vicki); a sister-in-law, Jane Sarinana (Teodora); a close friend, Bill Allen of Cherryville; and a host of other aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives and friends.
The funeral is today at 2 p.m. at Plainview Baptist Church in Lawndale, with the Rev. William Ewing officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the church 30 minutes before the service.

Willie Mae Wray
SHELBY — Ms. Willie Mae Wray, 84, of White Oak Manor, departed this life on Monday, Jan. 17, 2005, at Hospice at Wendover.
Born Sept. 4, 1920, in Oconee County, Ga., she was the daughter of the late Willie Wray and Mary Fambrough Wray. The second of 16 children, she was preceded in death by seven brothers and five sisters.
She leaves to cherish her memory one brother, Lloyd, of Shelby; two sisters, Gladyce Wray of Hempstead, N.Y., and Betty Merritt (Charles) of Shelby; a son she raised, Marric Antrell Dawkins Sutton; an aunt, Annie Fambrough; and a host of cousins, nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be Saturday at 6:30 p.m. at Genesis Chapel, with the Rev. Strickland Maddox officiating. Burial will take place at Webb Memorial Lawns.
The family will receive friends 30 minutes before the service and at other times at the home of her brother at 1881 S. Lafayette St., Shelby.

CHERRYVILLE — Mr. David Kohn Farris, 96, of 405 Old Post Road, died Wednesday, Jan. 19, 2005, at Carolina Care Center.
The funeral will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Stamey-Cherryville Funeral Home Chapel, with Dr. Billy Lowe and the Revs. David Crane and Ron Fink officiating. Burial will follow in St. John’s Lutheran Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Saturday at the church an hour before the service.

LAKE LURE — Mr. Harold Hammond Bird Jr., 72, died Wednesday, Jan. 19, 2005, at home.
A graveside service will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at Bill’s Creek Baptist Church Cemetery, with the Rev. Kenneth W. Hay officiating.

‘Red’ Blanton
KINGS MOUNTAIN — Mr. S. A. “Red” Blanton, 84, of 706 Sipes St., died Wednesday, Jan. 19, 2005, at Kings Mountain Hospital.
The funeral will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Ollie Harris Memorial Chapel, with the Rev. Wayne Reese officiating. Burial will follow at Mountain Rest Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Saturday at Harris Funeral Home from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m.

SHELBY — Mrs. Evelyn Geraldine Williams Donovon, 79, of 934 W. Warren Manor, Apt. 2A, died Thursday, Jan. 20, 2005, at Hospice at Wendover.

ELLENBORO — Mr. Ben William Dodson, 70, of 708 Pinehurst Road, died Thursday, Feb. 3, 2005, at Hospice House of Rutherford County.
The funeral will be Sunday at 3 p.m. at Corinth Baptist Church, with the Rev. David Jendry officiating. The body will be placed in the church 30 minutes before the service. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends tonight at The Padgett and King Mortuary from 6 to 8 and at other times at the home of a son, Keith Dodson, 732 Pinehurst Road.
Audrey Hancock
WACO — Mrs. Audrey Ruth Carroll Hancock, 94, of 2277 New Prospect Church Road, entered into rest Friday, Feb. 4, 2005, at home.
Born Oct. 10, 1910, in Cleveland County, she was a daughter of the late John William Carroll and Minnie Lee Goforth Carroll. She was a homemaker, mother and grandmother. She was a member of the Church of Christ in Shelby and attended the First Wesleyan Church in Cherryville.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, George Hancock Sr.; a son, Charles William Hancock; an infant son; and a granddaughter, Lola Cherise Bridges.
She is survived by a son, George Hancock Jr. and wife, Jane, of Cherryville; three daughters, Betty L. Beattie and husband, L. D., of Kings Mountain and Doris J. Bridges and Barbara Ann Hancock, both of Waco; a brother, George Carroll of Kings Mountain; a sister, Pauline Perkins of Kings Mountain; 15 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; and 12 great-great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be Sunday at 3:30 p.m. at First Wesleyan Church, with the Revs. Mark Poe and Edwin Chriscoe officiating. Burial will follow in Capernaum Cemetery in Waco.
The family will receive friends any time today at the home. The body will be taken back to the home.
