Charlotte Hardin

SHELBY — Mrs. Charlotte Hamrick Hardin, 83, died Friday, Jan. 21, 2005.

She was a daughter of the late G. V. and Emma L. Hamrick. She was a charter member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church.

She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Howard Taylor Hardin; two daughters, Rachel Francis of Morganton and Linda Putnam and husband, Tom, of Murrells Inlet, S.C.; seven grandchildren, Kelli Wilson and husband, Brian Keller, of Cary, Tripp Wilson and wife, Holli, of Shelby, Melanie Francis of Fuquay Varina, Josh Francis and wife, Alison, of Kannapolis, Joel Francis of Fort Carson, Colo., and David Putnam and Mark Putnam, both of Shelby; and five great-grandchildren, Chelsea and Casey Wilson of Shelby, Emma and Simon Wilson of Cary and Justin Francis of Kannapolis.

The funeral will be Sunday at 3 p.m. at Aldersgate United Methodist Church, with Dr. Jeff Patterson and the Revs. Sally Queen and Libba Minus officiating. Burial will follow at Cleveland Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends at 2 p.m. Sunday at the church in the Epworth Building.

Instead of flowers, memorials may be made to the Van Fund at Aldersgate United Methodist Church, 1207 W. Dixon Blvd., Shelby, NC 28152.

Palmer Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.

James Gross

ICARD — Mr. James Cecil Gross, 68, of 7234 Knox Ave., died Thursday, Jan. 20, 2005, at Catawba Valley Medical Center.

A graveside service will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at Zion Hill Baptist Church Cemetery, with the Rev. Joel Cook officiating.

The family will receive friends at Stamey Funeral Home tonight from 7 to 8:30.

LUCINDA GIDNEY

SHELBY — Ms. Lucinda Michele Gidney, 25, died Friday, Jan. 21, 2005, in Norcross, Ga.

Enloe Mortuary will announce arrangements.

Gladys Paxton

SHELBY — Mrs. Gladys Davidson Paxton, 71, of 1014 N. Post Road, passed away Friday, Jan. 21, 2005, at home.

Clay-Barnette Funeral Home will announce arrangements.

Dwight Reynolds

CLOVER, S.C. — Mr. Dwight Ross Reynolds, 77, of 109 Ridge Ave., died Friday, Jan. 21, 2005, at Gaston Memorial Hospital.

A memorial service will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at M. L. Ford and Sons Funeral Home Chapel in Clover, with the Rev. Dave Stanford officiating.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home an hour before the service.

Anis Barb

KINGS MOUNTAIN — Mrs. Anis Barb, 99, of the Brian Center in Concord, formerly of Kings Mountain, died Saturday, Jan. 15, 2005, at her residence.

She was born in Franklin County, Ga., and was the daughter of the late John T. Moseley and Sarah Jane Ivester Moseley. She was retired from the textile industry and was a member of David Baptist Church in Kings Mountain.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Edgar E. Babb; a son, Walter Edwin Babb and two daughters, Carolyn Ruth Howell and Patricia Elaine Cox.

She is survived by a son, Bill D. Babb and wife Betty of Kannapolis; a daughter, Ramona Amole of Gloucester, Va.; 13 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be held Monday at 11 a.m. at the Ollie Harris Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Jody Griffin officiating.

The family will receive friends one hour before the service.

Burial will be held at 2 p.m. in Hillcrest Cemetery Park in Stanley.

Memorials may be made to David Baptist Church, 2300 David Baptist Church Road, Kings Mountain, NC 28086.

Timothy McDaniel

KINGS MOUNTAIN — Mr. Timothy S. “Tim” McDaniel, 42, of 226 Phifer Circle, died Friday, Jan. 14, 2005, at Hospice at Wendover in Shelby.

He was a native of Cleveland County and a graduate of Kings Mountain High School. He was also a member of Bethlehem Church in Kings Mountain, retired from Continental Tire in Charlotte and a talented artist.

He is survived by his wife, Laura Weldon McDaniel in Kings Mountain; a son, Travis McDaniel of Kings Mountain; daughter, Ashley McDaniel of Kings Mountain; parents, Rodger and Orangel Parrish McDaniel of Kings Mountain; a brother, Phillip McDaniel and wife, Linda of Kings Mountain and a sister, Cindy Smith and husband, Randy of Dallas.

The funeral will be today at 4 p.m. at Bethlehem Baptist Church with the Rev. David Blanton and Youth Director Jason Allen officiating.

Burial will follow in Bethlehem Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends today from 2 to 3:45 p.m. at the church and other times at the home.

Memorials may be made to Hospice of Cleveland County, 951 Wendover Heights Drive, Shelby, NC 28150 or to the American Cancer Society, 500 E. Morehead St., Charlotte, NC 28202 or to Bethlehem Baptist Church, 1017 Bethlehem Road, Kings Mountain, NC 28086.

Garland Canipe

LAWNDALE — Mr. Garland Roy Canipe, 64, of 236 St. Paul Church Road, died Saturday, Jan. 15, 2005, at Cleveland Regional Medical Center.

The funeral will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church with the Revs. Larry Thompson and Cecil Bluff officiating.

The body will be placed in the church 30 minutes before the service.

The family will receive friends Monday night from 6 to 7:30 at Stamey Funeral Home.

Helen Allen

SHELBY — Mrs. Helen Mullinax Allen, 64, of 2921 Francis Court died Friday, January 14, 2005, at home.

A native of Cleveland County, she was born April 24, 1940. She formally worked at Cleveland Regional Medical Center as a registered nurse in the emergency department. She was a member of Bethel Baptist Church of Shelby.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Carl Lockridge Mullinax and Hazel Wortman Mullinax; a brother, Ronald Mullinax; a brother-in-law, Kenneth Webber.

She is survived by a son, Brian Allen of Charlotte; a daughter and her husband, Sharon Allen Carter and Tim of Shelby; a brother and sister-in-law, Dennis Mullinax Sr. and Ruby of Shelby; a sister, Carolyn Webber of Columbia, S.C.; grandchildren, Tiffany Carter, Mindy Carter and Steven Allen; and former husband, Michael Allen of Shelby.

A memorial service will be held Tuesday at 3 p.m. at Clay-Barnette Chapel with Dr. J. M. Ezell officiating.

A private burial will be held.

The family will receive friends one hour before the service at Clay-Barnette Funeral Home and other times at the home

Leo Hardin

MOORESBORO — Mr. Leo Hardin, 76, of 122 Clover Leaf Road, died Saturday, Jan. 15, 2005, at Hospice House of Rutherford County.

A graveside service will be held Monday at 2 p.m. at Plain View Baptist Church with the Revs. Richard Hayward and Clyde Lovelace officiating.

The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 8:30 at McKinney-Landreth Funeral Home.

Rose Freeman

RUTHERFORDTON — Mrs. Rose Marie Freeman, 96, died Friday, Jan. 14, 2005.

The funeral will be Monday at 2 p.m. at Mount Vernon Baptist Church with the Rev. Greg Hathaway and Don Crawford officiating.

Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends one hour before the service.

Grady Hamrick

SHELBY — Mr. Grady Eugene Hamrick, 67, of 1913 Holly Hill Road, died Friday, Jan. 14, 2005, at Cleveland Regional Medical Center.

A native of Cleveland County, he was a member of Camp Creek Baptist Church. He worked for Cone Mills for 20 years.

He is preceded in death by his father, Jonas Mintz Hamrick; a wife, Joyce Victoria Walker Hamrick; two brothers and a sister.

She is survived by a mother, Ozie Cooper Hamrick; two daughters, Tammy Hamrick Henson and her husband, Keith of Gaffney, S.C. and Pamela Hamrick Newton of the home; a son and wife, Mitchell Hamrick and Tracy of the home; a brother, Dennis Hamrick of Shelby; two sisters, Geneva Carter of Greenville, S.C., and Brenda Hunt of Ellenboro; two granddaughters and their husbands, Tara and Andy Easler and Ashley and Lorge Loaisiga; two granddaughters, Samantha and Rebecca McEntee; three grandsons, Kristofer Hamrick, Benjamin Hamrick and Timothy Newton; a great-granddaughter, Bethany Easler and a great-grandson, Zakary Loaisiga.

The funeral will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Cleveland Funeral Services Chapel with the Rev. Ed Sessom.

The family will receive friends Monday from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at Cleveland Funeral Services and other times at the home.

Burial will follow in Cleveland Memorial Park.

Elizabeth Hubbard Neal

LINCOLNTON — Mrs. Elizabeth Hubbard Neal, 88, of the Brian Center, formerly of Atlantic Lane, died Saturday, Jan. 15, 2005, at home.

The funeral will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Leonard’s Fork Baptist Church with the Rev. Darrell Bost officiating.

Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends at Carpenter’s Funeral Home Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. and other times at the home of Minnie Lovelace.
