CHERRYVILLE — Mr. Steve Plato Poole, 58, of 1208 Johnson Drive, died Saturday, Dec. 11, 2004, at home.
His funeral will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Clay-Barnette Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Doug Baltzegar officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Cemetery.
The family will receive friends drom 6 to 7:30 Monday night at Clay-Barnette Funeral Home and at other times at the home.
Joe Hoyle
MOORESBORO — Mr. Joe Miller Hoyle, 40, of 2028-1 Bachelor Road, died Friday, Dec. 10, 2004, at Cleveland Regional Medical Center.
A Cleveland County native, he was born April 17, 1964, a son of Bertha Canipe Hoyle of Shelby and the late Miller Marion Hoyle. He was a shift superisor at Mohican Mills in Lincolnton, where he was employed for 13 years. He was a wood craftsman, an artist skilled in drawing and was known to be a friend to all.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his fiancée, Cher J. Bridges of the home; a son, Joey Glenn Hoyle of Shelby; a daughter, Krista Michelle Hoyle of Shelby; a son, Christopher Joe Hoyle of the home; two stepdaughters, Kayla Denise Mote and Ashley Leeann Bridges, both of the home; three brothers and their wives, Donald and Wanda Hoyle and Bruce and Faye Hoyle, all of Shelby, and Wayne and Debbie Hoyle of Cherryville; five sisters and their husbands, Faye and Eugene Wilson of Shelby, Shirley and Vance Hunt of Valrico, Fla., Judy and Ted Duncan of Marion, Gail Hoyle of Chester, S.C. and Peggy Hoyle of Shelby; and fifty-six nieces and nephews.
His funeral will be 2 p.m. Monday at Fellowship Baptist Church with the Revs. Eugene Bumgardner and Jerry Marshall officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The body will be placed in the church 30 minutes before the service.
The family will receive friends from 4 to 6 p.m. today at Clay-Barnette Funeral Home and at other times at the home of his mother, 1148 Poplar Springs Church Road, Shelby.
Irene Lydia
GAFFNEY, S.C. — Mrs. Irene Mullinax Lydia, 55, of 401 Killion Drive, died Friday, Dec. 10, 2004, at home.
A celebration of life service will be 1 p.m. Monday at Church of God of Prophecy, Pacolet, S.C., with the Revs. Paul Tessnear and William Blanton officiating. Burial will follow in Frederick Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends an hour before the service at the church and at other times at the home.

KINGS MOUNTAIN — Mrs. Margaret Harrill Anderson, 85, of Century Care Center in Shelby, formerly of Kings Mountain, died Saturday, Dec. 11, 2004, at Cleveland Regional Medical Center.

Claude Huskey Sr.
SHELBY — Mr. Claude Huskey Sr., 77, of 431 Oakland Drive, died Wednesday, Dec. 8, 2004, at Cleveland Regional Medical Center.
Born Jan. 13, 1927, in Cherokee County, S.C., he was a son of the late James and Deliah Camp Huskey. He was a World War II veteran of the Army and retired from Fiber Industries. After his retirement, he was employed for a brief time at Winn-Dixie Grocery Store and Shelby High School.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Roosevelt Huskey; a sister, Dorothy H. Hartgrove; a daughter-in-law, Betty H. “Penny” Huskey; a daughter, Janice Kay Huskey; and a wonderful wife of 41 years, Dorothy B. Huskey.
He leaves to mourn three sons and a daughter-in-law, John D. “John John” Huskey of the home, Claude “Little Claude” Huskey Jr. of Cleveland, Ohio, and David G. Roseboro (Dorothy) of Shelby; a daughter, Priscilla H. Eaves of Shelby; two sisters, Florence H. Nichols of Lincolnton and Bernice H. Wilson of Shelby; three aunts, Ettie Mae H. Montgomery of Charlotte, Marie H. Woods of Gaffney, S.C., and Minister Pattie B. Smith of Shelby; his mother-in-law, Jessie B. Degree; a sister-in-law, Dianne Crocker (James), all of Kings Mountain; four brothers-in-law, Howard Degree of Kings Mountain, Tommy Degree (Loretta) of Gastonia and Gus Degree (Joyce) of Atlanta, and Herbert Hickman (Annie) of Seat Pleasant, Md.; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; a favorite cousin, Eugene Haney (Nutty) of Winston-Salem; and a host of relatives and friends.
The funeral will be today at 3 p.m. at Mount Calvary Baptist Church, with the Rev. M. Lamont Littlejohn officiating. Burial will follow at Webb Memorial Lawns.
The family will receive friends at the church 30 minutes before the service.

Billy Martin
GAFFNEY, S.C. — Mr. Billy Ray Martin, 72, formerly of 916 Swofford Drive, Cowpens, S.C., died Friday, Dec. 10, 2004, at Brookview Health Care Center in Gaffney.
A celebration of life service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints with Bishop Manfred Martin officiating. The body will be placed in the church an hour before the service. Burial will follow in Frederick Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 7:30 Monday night at White Columns Funeral Service and at other times at their respective homes.
Ernest Sparks
GAFFNEY, S.C. — Mr. Ernest C. “Bit” Sparks, 76, of 843 Ellis Ferry Road, Gaffney, died Saturday, Dec. 11, 2004 at Upstate Carolina Medical Center
He was born in Gaffney to the late William Douglas Sparks and Nettie Hames Sparks. Mr. Sparks was a retired brick mason for many years he worked for Cherokee Masonry. He was a veteran of the Army in World War II and served as a military policeman and received the Army of Occupation Medal and the World War II Victory Medal.
He was preceded in death by four brothers, W.D. Sparks Jr., Harold Sparks, Lionel “Pie” Sparks and Ming Sparks, and two sisters, Iris Turner and Jean Sparks.
He is survived by three daughters, Traci Durham of Gaffney, Elizabeth Pierce of Ringold, Ga., and Vicki Richardson of Gaffney; five grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be Tuesday at 2:00 at Northside Baptist Church with Dr. Edward McAbee officiating.
Pallbearers will be Arthur Frady, Orville Durham, Alvin Durham, Wayne Durham, Keith Sparks and Ned Phillips.
The body will be placed in the church 30 minutes before the service. Burial will be in Frederick Memorial Gardens
The family will receive visitors tonight from 7 until 9 at Schuford-Hatcher Funeral Home and other times at the home of daughter, Traci Durham, 148 River Tree Road, Gaffney.

Maggie Anderson
SHELBY — Mrs. Margaret Harrill Anderson, 85, of Century Care Center of Shelby and formerly of Highland Creek Apartments, died Saturday, Dec. 11, 2004, at Cleveland Regional Medical Center.
She was born in Cleveland County to the late Milford A. and Carrie Hardin Harrill. She was retired from the Dietary Department of Cleveland Memorial Hospital, was of the Baptist faith, volunteered her time with children at the hospital and was in the foster Grandparent Program at Graham Elementary School.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William Frank Anderson, four brothers, George D. Rufus, Howard, and Herchel Harrill, and a sister, Frances Daves.
She is survived by a son, Bill Anderson and wife, Dianne of Kings Mountain; a daughter, Barbara Ann Anderson of Shelby; a sister, Lela Harrill Davis of Shelby; three grandchildren, Risa Page, Dana Dussinger and Shane Anderson; 12 great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be Tuesday at 2:00 at Sunset Cemetery with the Rev. Doug Allen officiating.
The family will receive visitors tonight from 6 until 7:30 at Cecil M. Burton Funeral Home and other times at the home of Jean Martin, 111 Sunrise Circle.

SHELBY — John William “Bill” Weaver, 76, of 906 Parkwood Road, died today at home.

CHERRYVILLE — Mr. Steve Plato Poole, 58, of 1208 Johnson Drive., died Saturday, December 11, 2004 at home.
Born June 1, 1946 in Cleveland County, he was a son of the late Howard and Aileen Willis Poole. He was a supervisor with Industrial Fabricators in Gastonia and served in the Army during Vietnam.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Joyce Krumnow.
He is survived by his wife, Melinda McKinney Poole of the home; a son, Tony Poole and wife, Vickie, of Lincolnton; a daughter, Lisa Laughlin and husband, Rick of Fallston; a brother, Walter Poole and wife, Phyllis, of Shelby; two sisters, Rita Barr and husband, Bobby, of Shelby and Vicki Bingham and husband, Dennis, of Fallston; a granddaughter, Stephanie Griffey; three grandsons, Anthony Poole, Erik Laughlin and Nickolas Laughlin; and a great grandson, Christopher Griffey.
The funeral will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Clay-Barnette Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Doug Baltzegar officiating.
Burial with military honors will follow in Sunset Cemetery.

Mack Hayes
SILER CITY — Mr. Mack Talmadge Hayes, 8, of 1479 Airport Road, died Friday, Dec. 10, 2004 in Asheville.
Mr. Hayes was a native of Cleveland County and was a member of Community Baptist Church. He was an Army veteran of World War II and was retired from Collins and Aikman in Siler City.
He was preceded in death by three brothers and three sisters.
He is survived by three brothers, Ray Hayes of Golden, Mass, James M. Hayes of Grover, Carl Dean Hayes of Grover; four sisters, Lula H. Townsend of Hickory, Mayola H. Blanton of Kings Mountain, Beulah H. Houser of Grover, and Elvie H. Allen of Grover.
The funeral will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Community Baptist Church, 2575 Hamp Road in Siler City conducted by the Rev. Tad Marshall. A graveside service will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. The family will receive friends this evening from 6 to 8 at Smith & Buckner Funeral Home at 230 North Second Avenue, Siler City and Tuesday evening for 6 to 8 at Harris Funeral Home in Kings Mountain.

CHERRYVILLE — Ms. Tammy Marie Absher, 34, of 221 Oliver St., died Sunday, Dec, 12, 2004, at Gaston Memorial Hospital.

Virginia Clark
SHELBY — Mrs. Virginia Lee Collins Clark, 76, of 2706 South Post Road, died Saturday, Dec. 11, 2004 at Century Care Nursing Home. She attended Buffalo Baptist Church of Blacksburg and was a housewife.
She was born in Gastonia to the late James Aaron and Carrie Leona Allen Collins.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Hafner Clark.
She is survived by three sons, Robert S. Clark of Blacksburg, SC, Aaron Mason Clark, of Gaffney, SC and Michael Dale Clark of Dreweryville, VA; three daughters, Virginia Pamela Clark Champion of Gaffney, S.C., Sandra Joan Clark Hart of Lawndale, Janet Lee Clark Hollifield of Bostic; brother, James Henry Collins of Shelby; 12 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
The service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Woodlawn Memorial Park in Sharon, S.C. with the Rev. Jerry Welch. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 Monday night at Gordon Mortuary in Blacksburg.
The family will be at the home of Robert S. Clark, 486 Old Buffalo Church Road in Blacksburg.
