Luke Roberson

FOREST CITY — Mr. Luke Roberson, 94, of 118 Hillcrest Ave., died Wednesday, Dec. 8, 2004, at Hospice House of Rutherford County.

The funeral will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at The Padgett and King Mortuary. Burial will follow in Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home tonight from 6 to 8 and at other times at the home of a close family friend, Ray Dixon, 240 Springdale Drive, Forest City.

Mischa Rhodes

GASTONIA — Ms. Mischa Takiyah Tyndle Rhodes, age 30, of 601 Apple St., departed this life on Friday, Dec. 3, 2004.

She was born on July 7, 1974, in Cleveland County, to Joyce Tyndle and Thomas Jackson. Ms. Rhodes was a 1992 graduate of Burns High School and a 1997 graduate of Gardner-Webb University, with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Ralph and Marie Tyndle; her grandfather, A. J. Jackson; a brother, Marjuan Huskey; and an uncle Bobby Tyndle.

In addition to her parents, she leaves to cherish her loving memories a daughter, Somarlia Tyndle; a son, Triston Rhodes; a former husband, Keith Rhodes; four sisters, Sabrina Bess, Colisa Bess, Charlotte Poole and Sherika Jackson; a brother, Adrian Jackson; a grandmother, Lizzie Jackson; several loving and close family members, Michelle Tyndle, Nasiche Tyndle, Adama Washington, Raine Gordon, Leila Tyndle, Ronald Tyndle and Wayne and Terrie Gordon; loving friends, Dottie Scher, Precious Tate, James Martin and the Byrd Family; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

The funeral will be today at 2 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Lawndale, with the Rev. Billy D. Houze officiating. Quiet time will be held before the service, beginning at 1:30 p.m.

Genesis Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements.

William Campbell

SPINDALE — Mr. William Lee Campbell, 53, of Spindale, died Tuesday, Dec. 7, 2004, in Rutherfordton.

His funeral will be 11 a.m. Friday at First Baptist Church, Spindale with the Rev. Allen Thomason officiating. Burial will follow in Cliffside Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 tonight at Crowe’s Funeral Home.

Claude Ensley

RUTHERFORDTON — Mr. Claude Howard Ensley, 48, of Rutherfordton, died Tuesday, Dec. 7 2004, at home.

His funeral will be 3 p.m. Thursday at Crowe’s Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Jack Crain officiating.

The family will receive friends an hour before the service at the funeral home.

Glenn McKee

LAWNDALE — Mr. Plato Glenn McKee, 70, of 433 Plainsview Church Road, died Wednesday, Dec. 8, 2004, at Cleveland Regional Medical Center in Shelby.

A Cleveland County native, he was born Oct. 7, 1934, a son of the late Horace Shafter and Ruth Grigg McKee.

He was a long line driver on the northend single operation for Carolina Freight. He was a member of Friendship United Methodist Church and Fallston Masonic Lodge 356. Mr. McKee was a 32nd Degree Scottish Rite and a member of the Oasis Temple in Charlotte. He was a man’s man and brought joy and mirth to everyone he met. He was a Navy veteran of the Korean Conflict and received the good conduct medal.

In addition of his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Janice Katherine Wilson McKee.

He is survived by four sons and daughters-in-law, Dennis and Debbie McKee of Lawndale, Jerry and Tracey McKee of Morganton, Randy and Mona McKee and Barry and Susan McKee, all of Fallston; a daughter, Mary McKee of Lawndale; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Hillard and Colene McKee of Valdese and Gene and Helen McKee of Ellenboro; a brother, Roger McKee of Booneville ; a sister, Mary Ellen Wellmon of Shelby; and 10 grandchildren.

The family will have a private memorial service.

The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Friday at Stamey Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to Friendship United Methodist Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 219, Fallston, NC 28042 or Hospice of Cleveland County, 951 Wendover Heights Drive, Shelby, NC 28150.

Lillie Ramseur

VALE — Mrs. Lillie Mae Ramseur, 89, of 5426 Hope Road, died Tuesday, Dec. 7, 2004, at Brian Center East in Hickory.

Ebony and White’s Funeral Service will announce funeral arrangements.

Edna Moore

SHELBY — Mrs. Edna Robinson Moore, 81, of 1176 Wyke Road, died Tuesday, Dec. 7, 2004, at Century Care.

Her funeral will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Race Path Baptist Church with Dr. Donald Berry officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 Friday at Cleveland Funeral Services.

Linda Bryant

SHELBY — Mrs. Linda Sue Jordan Bryant, 49, 305 Cinnabar St., died Wednesday, Dec. 8, 2004, at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte.

Cleveland Funeral Services will announce funeral arrangements.

Doris White

CHERRYVILLE — Mrs. Doris Ann “Coot” Houser White, 63, of 2449 Lee Bess Road, died Monday, Dec. 6, 2004, at Hospice at Wendover.

A native of Lincoln County, she was born Nov. 8, 1941, a daughter of the late Forrest Lee and Alene Lackey Houser.

She retired as an EC Bus Rider for Lincoln County School System. She was a member of North Brook Baptist Church.

She is survived by her husband of 45 years, Cleatus Franklin White; a daughter and son-in-law, Susan and Mark Fisher of Cherryville; a brother and sister-in-law, Troy and Sandra Houser of Cherryville; and two sisters and brothers-in-law, Betty and Steve Little of Cherryville and Kathy and Terry Yount of Vale.

Her funeral will be 11 a.m. Thursday at North Brook Baptist Church with the Revs. Ray Pennell, Norris Willis and Jerry Lail officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 tonight at Stamey Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to North Brook Baptist Church Fellowship Building Fund, 7421 Flay Road, Cherryville, NC 28021.

Ruth Hughes

FOREST CITY — Mrs. Ruth Fletcher Hughes, 81, of Forest City, died Monday, Dec. 6, 2004, at Rutherford Hospital.

Thompson Mortuary will announce funeral arrangements.

Jo Ann Cody

KINGS MOUNTAIN — Mrs. Jo Ann Biddix Cody, 62, of 111 High Ridge Court, Lot 3, died Monday, Dec. 6, 2004, at her residence.

The funeral will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at Ollie Harris Memorial Chapel, with the Rev. Ronnie Hawkins officiating. Burial will follow in Mountain Rest Cemetery.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at Harris Funeral Home.

Robert Taylor

GASTONIA — Mr. Robert Molten “Bobby” Taylor, 64, of 1524 Fern Forest Drive, died Sunday, Dec. 5, 2004, at Carolinas Medical Center.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.

Bernice Whitley

SHELBY — Mrs. Bernice Jeanette Whitesides Whitley, 90, of 3650 Old Stagecoach Road, died Monday, Dec. 6, 2004, at Winston-Salem Rehabilitation.

A native of Cleveland County, she was retired from Cleveland County Schools where she was a teacher for 25 years. She was a member of Sandy Plains Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her father and mother, Lee Whitesides and Mary Dysart Whitesides and spouses, John Roy Whitley and William Edgar Franklin.

She is survived by a daughter, Brenda Faircloth of Kernersville; a granddaughter, Susan Faircloth of Kernersville; a niece and nephew, Carolyn and Danny Bumgardner and Roger Whitesides all of Shelby, and Marilyn Gates of Cary.

The funeral will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at Sandy Plains Baptist Church with the Rev. Joel Dale officiating.

Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Cleveland Funeral Services.

Velma Dixon

SHELBY — Mrs. Velma Roberta Houser Dixon, 100, formerly of Peach St., died Monday, Dec. 6, 2004, at Cleveland Regional Medical Center.

Born March 28, 1904, in Lincoln County, she was a daughter of the late James T. Houser and Roberta Gilmore Houser. She was a homemaker and the oldest member of Kadesh United Methodist Church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde Hoyle Dixon; a son, Gordon Robert Dixon; and 11 brothers and sisters.

She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Dwight H. and Betty Dixon of Shelby; and daughter and son-in-law, Peggy D. and Glenn C. Bingham of Toluca; a daughter-in-law, Betty Jean Dixon of Shelby; seven grandchildren, Shelia Ann Bullock, Vicki Gruver, Tracy Hager, Robbie Dixon, Douglas Dixon, Glenda Miller, and Gregory Bingham; four great-grandchildren, Adam Miller, Charlie Miller, Landon Bullock and Trevor Bullock; and two step-great-grandchildren.

The graveside service is today at 3 p.m. at Kadesh United Methodist Church Cemetery, with Dr. Robert Parsons and the Rev. Joe McMurry officiating.

The family will receive friends immediately following the service in the church fellowship hall and at other times at the home of Peggy and Glenn Bingham, 6521 Fallston Road, Lawndale.

Instead of flowers, memorials may be made to Kadesh United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 689, Fallston, NC 28042.

Stamey Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
