Stella Newton
LAWNDALE — Mrs. Stella Costner Newton, 95, of Wes Cook Road, died Saturday, Nov. 13, 2004, at McDowell Hospital.
Born Oct. 29, 1909, in Cleveland County, she was the daughter of the late Kelly Costner and Susie Peeler Costner.
She was a homemaker and a member of St. Paul Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Willie Marvin Newton; a son, Bobby Newton; a brother, Everette Costner and a sister, Elaine Causby.
She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Thomas and Loretta Newton of Polkville; daughters, Martha Ledford of Lawndale and Betty Upton of Lawndale; brothers, Flay Costner of Shelby, Gerald “Bunny” Costner of Casar, Morris Costner of Casar, Arthur Costner of Casar; sisters, Maybell Willis of Vale, Flossie Meade of Casar, Eula Downs of Casar; nine grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
The funeral is 7:30 this evening at St. Paul Baptist Church with Dr. Ernest Speagle and the Rev. R.A. Brackett officiating. The family will receive friends from 6 to 7:30 at the church.
Burial will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Paul Baptist Church cemetery.
Brody Gaines
VALE — Master Thomas Brody Gaines, 3, of 6558 Houser Farm Road, died Friday, Nov. 12, 2004, at UNC Hospital.
He was born May 27, 2001, in Gaston County.
He is survived by his parents, Gary Dwayne Gaines and Diana Lynn Gaines and brother, William Parker Gaines, of the home.
The funeral will be 3 p.m. Tuesday at Trinity Lutheran Church with Pastor Chris Christopher and Dr. Robert Parsons officiating.
The body will be placed in he church 30 minutes before the service for viewing.
Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4 to 7 p.m. today at Stamey Funeral Home.
Walter Morrow
FOREST CITY —Mr. Walter Durham Morrow, age 85 of Oakland Road, Forest City died Saturday Nov. 13, 2004, at Autumn Care Center.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the Bethany Baptist Church with the Rev. Marvin Greene officiating.
Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends this evening from 6 until 8 at The Padgett and King Mortuary. The family will be at the home of Janet and Boyce Carpenter, 186 Birch Hutchins Road, Forest City.
Pansy Fulbright
HICKORY — Mrs. Pansy Bradshaw Fulbright, 81, of 5207 N.C. 127 South, died Saturday, Nov. 13, 2004, at Lutheran Home Hickory West.
The funeral will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Zion Hill Baptist Church with the Rev. Roger McSwain officiating.
Burial will follow at Zion Hill Baptist Church cemetery. The body will be placed in the church 30 minutes before the service.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Stamey Funeral Home.

MOORESBORO — Rebecca Jane Luckadoo Edward, 48, of 329 Goode Road, died Sunday, Nov. 14, 2004, at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center.
The funeral will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at McKinney-Landreth Funeral Home with the Rev. Robert Hensley officiating. Burial will follow in Goodes Grove Baptist Church.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Frank Holland
RUTHERFORDTON — Mr. Frank R. Holland, 60, of 252 Frady St., died Saturday, Nov. 13, 2004, at his home.
A native of Rutherford County, he was the son of the late Archie Holland Sr. and Hester Keeter Holland. He was a member of Second Baptist Church and was an auto mechanic and used car dealer.
He is survived by his wife, Cynthia (Spratt) Holland of Cliffside: sons Robert Holland of Cliffside, Andrew Wyatt of Rutherfordton; daughter Elizabeth Holland Splawn of Ellenboro; brothers John Holland of Spindale and Steve Keeter of Lake Lure; sisters Mamie Jones of Spindale and Patsy Benoy of Camden, S.C.; and two grandchildren.
The funeral will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Second Baptist of Rutherfordton with Dr. Keith Stephenson and the Revs. Brian Henderson and Rick Wall officiating. Burial will follow at Spindale City Cemetery.
The family will receive friends this evening from 6 to 8 at McMahan’s Funeral Home Inc.

Geraldine Carson
SHELBY — Mrs. Geraldine Marie McSwain Carson, 80, of 834 Quinn Drive, died Saturday, Nov. 13, 2004, at Hospice at Wendover in Shelby. She was the daughter of the late William and Gertrude Surratt McSwain and a native of Boiling Springs.
She was a member of Green Bethel Baptist Church where she was a former member of the choir and usher board. She was also retired from Sadie Mills in Kings Mountain.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Landom Carson; four brothers, Wilbert, Clinton, James and Arthur J. McSwain; and one sister, Lessie Black.
She is survived by one son, Frankie Landom Carson of Shelby; one brother, Ralph McSwain of Shelby; one sister, Jennie Phillips of Shelby; five grandchildren, Twanette Davenport, Frankie Carson, Christopher Carson, Benjamin Carson and Michael Carson all of Shelby; one aunt, Janet Thurman of Cleveland Ohio; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Services will be 3 Wednesday afternoon at Green Bethel Baptist Church with the Rev. Wade Wallace officiating. Burial will follow at Webb Memorial Lawns.
The family will receive friends 30 minutes before the service at the church Wednesday.

Sally Jolley
CLIFFSIDE — Mrs. Sally Scruggs Jolley, 88, of Cliffside, died Sunday, Nov. 14, 2004, at Hospice of the Upstate in Anderson, S.C.
She was a homemaker, textile employee and merchant. She was a longtime member of Prospect Baptist Church where she served as Sunday school teacher and on many committees.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Raleigh Otha Jolley and a son, Ron O. Jolley. She is survived by two sons, Roger D. Jolley of Clemson and Rick D. Jolley of Raleigh; a sister Lillian Virginia Scruggs formerly of Cliffside, now of Clemson; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and other family.
Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Prospect Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Frederick Memorial Park in Gaffney, S.C. The body will be placed in the church an hour before the service. The family will receive friends at the church after the service.

SHELBY — Mrs. Callie Young, 79, of 1332 Newton St., died Sunday, Nov. 14, 2004, at Crawley Memorial Hospital. The family will be at the home of Michael Wardell, 823 N. Morgan St.

Walter Tessneer
SHELBY — Mr. Walter Lee Tessneer, 70, of 1852 N. Lafayette St., joined His Lord and Savior Friday, Dec. 3, 2004, at Hospice at Wend-over.
Born June 14, 1934, in Cleveland County, he was a son of the late James Thomas Tessneer and Addie Wilson Tessneer. He retired from Drexel Furniture in Shelby after 30 years of service. He was a member of Landmark Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Ed Tessneer, and a sister, Lucille Beaver.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Mary Lou McNeilly Tessneer of the home; two daughters and sons-in-law, Marcia and Ray Wall and Peggy and Mark Johnson, all of Shelby; a granddaughter and husband, Casey and Nathan Vess; a grandson, Bret Johnson; and a brother, Fred Tessneer of Lawndale.
The funeral will be Sunday at 3 p.m. at Landmark Baptist Church, with the Revs. Allen Davis and William Ewing and Mr. Nathan Vess officiating. The body will be placed in the church 30 minutes before the service. Burial will follow in Cleveland Memorial Park.

CHERRYVILLE — Mr. Charles V. Beckum, 78, of 518 Roy Eaker Road, died Thursday, Dec. 2, 2004, at Lincoln Medical Center.

SHELBY — Miss Brea’na Nicole Evans, infant daughter of Chad Lambert and Crystal Lynn Evans, of 115 Bradley Road, No. 2, died Tuesday, Nov. 30, 2004, at Cleveland Regional Medical Center.
A graveside service is today at 1 p.m. at House of Prayer in Fallston, with the Rev. Ken Morrison officiating.
