‘Olie’ Mullinnix
GROVER — Mrs. Viola “Olie” Kramer Mullinnix, 87, of 134 Blackburn Drive, died Wednesday, Oct. 6, 2004, at home.
Born in Fredricksburg, Texas, she was a daughter of the late Edward and Hulda Detrick Kramer. She was a member of Shiloh Presbyterian Church and a member of the church circle. She was a homemaker.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde Marion Mullinnix; two sisters, Louise Segner and Norma Birk; and a brother, Arthur Kramer.
She is survived by three daughters, Diane M. McMurray and husband, Butch, and Nieta McDaniel, all of Grover, and Polly DeHart of Mocksville; a grandson, William Robert McMurray of Grover; a granddaughter, Elizabeth Nicole McMurray of Grover; and a number of nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be Friday at 3 p.m. at Shiloh Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. Nancy Mugford officiating. Burial will follow in Grover Cemetery.
The family will receive friends tonight at Harris Funeral Home from 7 to 9 and at other times at the home.

SHELBY — Mr. Everette Hamrick, 82, of 1250 Maple Springs Church Road, died Wednesday, Oct. 6, 2004, at Hospice of Wendover.

CHARLOTTE — Mr. Henry Cline Newton, 75, of 418 Bradford Drive, died Thursday, Oct. 7, 2004, at home.
The funeral is today at 2 p.m. at Stamey Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in St. Paul Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home an hour before the service.
Vell Logan
DELAND, FLA. — Mrs. Vell C. Logan, 97, formerly of Shelby, died Sunday, Sept. 26, 2004, at home.
She was born on Oct. 12, 1906, in Rutherford County. She was a homemaker and a member of First Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, J. Robert Logan.
She is survived by a son, Phillip Logan of Sanford, Fla; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Sunset Cemetery, with the Rev. Tony Tench officiating.

FOREST CITY — Mrs. Barbara Ann Boyce, 39, of 191 Sycamore St., died Thursday, Oct. 7, 2004, at home.

SMYRNA — Mrs. Louise Richards Dover, 66, of 1374 McGill Highway, died Thursday, Oct. 7, 2004, at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center.
A celebration of life service will be Sunday at 3:30 p.m. at Clingman Memorial Gardens Mausoleum, with the Rev. Gregg Martin officiating.
The family will receive friends tonight at White Columns of Blacksburg from 6 to 7 and at other times at the home.
James Randall
FOREST CITY — Mr. James Anthony Randall, 79, formerly of Old Caroleen Road, died Friday, Oct. 8, 2004, at Hospice House of Rutherford County.
A graveside service will be Sunday at 3:30 p.m. in the Oak Grove United Methodist Church Cemetery, with Dr. Norman Hubbard officiating.
The family will receive friends before the service at the Padgett and King Mortuary from 2 to 3 p.m.

SAVANNAH, Ga. — The Rev. Alex Grant, 64, died Monday, Oct. 4, 2004, at Memorial Health University Medical Center in Savannah.
The funeral is today at noon at Greater Emmanuel Tabernacle Worship Center. Burial will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery.

Charles McSwain
KINGS MOUNTAIN — Mr. Charles Douglas McSwain, 56, of 104 Hardin Drive, died Wednesday, Oct. 6, 2004, at home.
Born on May 20, 1948 in Cleveland County, he was a son of the late Charles Franklin McSwain and Edna Bridges McSwain. He served in the Army for 20 years.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Alice Ramey; and a brother, Wayne McSwain.
He is survived by a son, Charles David and wife, Lynn S. McSwain, of Gastonia; two daughters, Christine Denise and husband, Richard Whittington, of Stone Mountain, Ga., and Carolyn Diane McLaurin of Acworth, Ga; four grandchildren, Nikki Monty, Christopher McSwain, Perry McLaurin and Harley Whittington; a sister-in-law, Peggy McSwain; a nephew, Joe McSwain; and a niece, Crystal McSwain.
The funeral services are private.

Joe Mullinax
BLACKSBURG, S.C. — Mr. Joe Dean Mullinax, 64, of 1290 Lookout Tower Road, died Wednesday, Oct. 6, 2004, at home.
Born in Cherokee County, he was a son of the late Monroe and Mary Moore Mullinax. He retired from Grover Industries.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Gene Mullinax; a brother-in-law, Russell Wray; and a special nephew, Butch Pennington.
He is survived by five sisters, Goldie Wray, Judy Ross and husband, Whitney, Sheila Beverly and husband, Ted, all of Blacksburg, Carolyn Capps and husband, James, of Charlotte and Robin Farr and husband, Willard, of Pea Ridge, S.C.; two brothers, Johnny Lee Mullinax and wife, Kathy and J. R. Mullinax and wife, Tena, all of Blacksburg; a nephew raised in the home, Jim Capps and wife, Terry, of Gaffney; and a number of nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life service will be Saturday at 1 p.m. at Clingman Memorial Gardens Mausoleum,with Mr. Mike Ramsey officiating.
The family will receive friends Friday at White Columns of Blacksburg from 6 to 7:30 p.m. and at other times at the home.
Billy Woods
LINCOLNTON — Mr. Billy Franklin Woods, 68 of Cardinal Health Care, died Wednesday, Oct. 6, 2004.
The funeral is today at 11 a.m. at the Warlick Funeral Home Chapel, with Dr. Dennis Petro officiating. Burial will follow in Hollybrook Cemetery.
The family will receive friends today at the funeral home before the service from 10 to 10:50 a.m.
Everette Hamrick
SHELBY — Mr. Everette Hamrick, 82, of 1250 Maple Springs Church Road, died Wednesday, Oct. 6, 2004, at Hospice at Wendover.
Born on July 1, 1922, in Cleveland County, he was a son of the late Bezola and Bue Hamrick. He was a lifelong member of Poplar Springs Baptist Church and served in the Army. He retired from the cotton warehouse business, where he was employed for 48 years. He was a lifelong cattle farmer and took great pride in raising beef cattle, which was his main hobby and pastime.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Alma McSwain and Irene Padgett.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Lura Kendrick Hamrick of the home; two sons, William Hamrick and wife, Jean, and Richard Hamrick and wife, Vanda, all of Shelby; five grandchildren and their spouses, Michael Hamrick and Dana, Craig Hamrick and Andrea, Lynn Hamrick Hawkins and Jamey, Kelly Rauf and Bobby and Lewis Childers, all of Shelby; seven great-grandchildren, Caroline Hamrick, McKinsey Hamrick, Clayton Hamrick, Leanna Hamrick, Jaye Hawkins, Josh Hawkins and Brianna Hawkins, all of Shelby; four sisters, Lena McSwain, Thelma Hoyle, Mildred Reynolds and husband, L.D., and Frances Barber, all of Shelby; and a brother, David Hamrick and wife, Johnnie, of Shelby.
The funeral is today at 2 p.m. at Poplar Springs Baptist Church, with Drs. Rick Prassell and Jim Richardson officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Viola Hudson
FOREST CITY — Mrs. Viola A. Hudson, 83, of 372 Hudlow Road, died Wednesday, Oct. 6, 2004, at Hospice Crisis Care of Rutherford County.
The funeral will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at Doggett Grove A.M.E. Zion Church, with the Rev. James Staley officiating. The body will be placed in the church one hour before the service. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

William Lancaster Sr.
SHELBY — Mr. William A. Lancaster Sr., 82, of 627 Tina Drive, died Monday, Oct. 4, 2004, at Cleveland Regional Medical Center.
Born in Polk County, he was a son of the late Edgar Bernard Lancaster and Mattie Lee Hines Lancaster. He was in the Navy during World War II, serving in the European Theater. He was a loom fixer at Stonecutter Mills and J.P. Stevens and a truck driver for Carolina Motor, Akers Motor Line and Yellow Freight. He was a member of Westview Baptist Church, where he had served as a deacon. He also went to Honduras on a mission trip. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by five brothers and four sisters.
He is survived by two sons, Wayne H. Lancaster of Charlotte and William Lancaster Jr. and wife, Jean, of Belmont; two daughters, Lynn Barlowe and husband, Jeff, and Paula Neal, all of Gastonia; two granddaughters, Robin Davis and husband, Eddie, and Ashley Whitlock and husband, Jamie; a grandson, Steven Daniel Neal; two great-grandsons, Ashlee Davis and Jacob Whitlock; a brother, Glenn Lancaster of Spindale; and two sisters, Ruth Crotts of Rutherfordton and Helen Roach of Pleasant Gardens.
The funeral will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at Cleveland Funeral Services Chapel, with the Rev. Jim Brackett officiating. Burial will follow in Cleveland Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends Thursday at the funeral home from 12:30 to 2 p.m.
