Mrs. Beulah Mae Freeman Shelton, died Saturday, September 13, 2003.

The funeral service for Mrs. Shelton will be 2:00PM Wednesday, Steptember 17, 2003, at the Ray Funeral Home Chapel, Madison, NC. Interment will follow in the Mayodan Municipal Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 7-9:00PM Tuesday evening September 16, 2003 at Ray Funeral Home Madison.

Memorial contributions may be made to Hospie of Rockingham County, PO box 281 Wentworth, NC 27375.

The funeral service for Mrs. Shelton will be 2:00 PM Wednesday, September 17, 2003 at Ray Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Mayodan Municipal Cemtetery.

Mrs. Evelyn Potteiger

Mrs. Evelyn Potteiger died Sunday, September 14, 2003 at Annie Penn Hospital, Reidsville, NC. There will be no service for Mrs.Potteiger.

Mrs. Maude Lee Montgomery Voss

Mrs. Maude Lee Montgomery Voss formerly of Walnut Cove, died Sunday, September 14, 2003 in Forsyth Hospital, Winston-Salem, NC.

The graveside service for Mrs. Voss will be 2:00 PM Tuesday, September 16, 2003 in Quaker Gap Baptist Church Cemetery, King, NC

The family will receive friends following the service at her daughter's home.

Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Stokes County, PO Box 10, Danbury, NC 27016

Mrs. Maude Lee Voss of Germanton, died Sunday, September 14, 2003 at Forsyth Memorial Hospital, Winston-Salem, NC. The graveside service will be 2:00 PM Tuesday, September 16, 2003 at Quaker Gap Baptist Church Cemetery, King, NC.

Mrs. Helen Spainhour

Mrs. Helen Spainhour died Sunday, September 14, 2003 at Wesley Long Community Hospital

The funeral service for Mrs. Spainhour will be 2:00PM Wednesday, September 17, 2003 at Bethlehem United Methodist Church, Climax. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends Tuesday evening September 16, 2003 from 7-9:00PM at the Forbis & Dick Guilford Chapel.

Mr. James Thomas Rumley, Sr.

Mr. James Thomas Rumley, Sr., died Sunday, Septmeber 14, 2003 at his residence.

The service for Mr. Thomas will be private.

Mrs. Margaret Golding

Mrs. Margaret Golding died September 9, 2003 in Northridge, CA.

The funeral service for Mrs. Golding will be 2:00PM Wednesday, September 24, 2003 at Forbis & Dick North Elm Chapel. Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery.

Mr. Ransom "RC" Smiith, Jr., died Tuesday, September 16, 2003 at Forsyth Medical Center, Winston-Salem, NC.

The graveside service for Mr. Smith will be11:00AM Thursday, September 18, 2003 at Salem Chapel UCC Cemetery.

Mrs. Alma M. Ballard

Mrs. Alma M. Ballard died Monday September 15, 2003, at Autumn Care of Salisbury.

The funeral for Mrs. Ballard will be 10:00 AM Thursday September 18, 2003 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Salisbury, NC. Interment will follow in Rose Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Wednesday, September 17, from 7:00-8:30PM at Eaton Funeral Service.

Mrs. Sadie Livengood Howard

Mrs. Sadie Livengood Howard died September 15, 2003 at Rowan Regional Medical Center.

The funeral for Mrs. Howard will be 4:00PM Wednesday September 17, 2003 at Eaton Funeral Home Chapel Interment will follow in Liberty United Methodist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Wednesday from 3:00-4:00PM prior to the service.

Mrs. Ruth Hanna Westergaard

Ruth Hanna Westergaard, 95, died September 15th at Well-Spring Retirement Community, 3560 Wildflower Drive, Greensboro, NC 27410. Mrs. Westergaard survived her husband of 60 years, Richard B. Westergaard, who died in 1996.

Mrs. Westergaard moved with her husband to Greensboro in 1994 from Knoxville, Tennessee where they had lived since 1936. Originally from Des Moines, Iowa, she was the daughter of James R. and Jessie Pinney Hanna, a former Mayor of Des Moines.

Mrs. Westergaard graduated from the University of Iowa, and after that worked as a journalist with the Des Moines Register and Tribune where she met her future husband, Dick. They were married in Lincoln, Nebraska, April 29, 1933. They moved to Knoxville, TN where Mr. Westergaard was most known for his career with radio station WNOX.

She is survived by her two sons, Jim, of Greensboro, NC and Lynn of Atlanta, GA. Six grandchildren, Kim Westergaard Augsburger of Greensboro, NC, Craig Westergaard of Oak Ridge, NC, Tracy Westergaard of Greensboro, NC, Mark Westergaard of Boseman, MT, Karen Westergaard Deans, of Bethesda, MD and Julie Westergaard Audibert of Atlanta, GA and six great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends at Wellspring Retirement Community at 2:00PM Friday September 19th in the Assisted Living sitting room following a private interment.

Forbis & Dick Funeral Service, Guilford Chapel is serving the family.

Mr. Lucille Cole Abernethy

Lucille Cole Abernethy, age 83, of 4242 Ashland Drive, died Tuesday, September 16, 2003 at Evergreens Nursing Center.

Funeral services will be held 2:00PM Friday, September 19, 2003 at Muirs Chapel United Methodist Church, of which she was a member, with the Reverend Jock Ollis and Reverend Nick Scandale officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

She was a native of Durham and the daughter of the late Edward Cole and Hester Connor Cole. Mrs. Abernethy was active in the Methodist Women and the Saints Alive Choir at her church. She was retired from Burlington Industries.

She is survived by her husband, James Abernethy; one sister, Naomi D'onffrio and her husband Joe of New Albany, PA; one brother, George L. Cole and his wife Jean of Kinston, NC; and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 12:30PM to 3:00PM Friday in the church parlor prior to the service.

Memorials may be made to the Saints Alive Choir of Muirs Chapel United Methodist Church, 314 Muirs Chapel Road, Greensboro, NC 27410.

Forbis & Dick Funeral Service Guilford Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Peggy Dawkins

Peggy Parrot Dawkins, 72, of Twin Lakes Retirement Center, died Tuesday September 16, 2003 at Moses Cone Memorial Hospital.

Memorial services will be held at 11:00AM Thursday, September 18, 2003 at First Baptist Church of Summerfield.

Mrs. Dawkins was born on November 8, 1930 in Henderson, NC. She attended Campbell College and has lived in Greensboro for almost fifty years. She had resided at Twin Lakes Center in Burlington for the past six months. Peggy enjoyed going to flea markets and collecting antiques, especially antique dolls. She was a member of the Piedmont Doll Club and took great care in repairing and restoring dolls. She also had a special gift for making doll clothes. She owned a craft shop n Pittsboro, "Best Friends", with her lifetime friend, Minni Bell Sirls. Most of all she was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

Peggy Dawkins is survived by her three children, Benjamin Riley Dawkins and wife Teresa of Summerfield, Milly D. Raynor and husband of Whitsett and Timothy Lewis Dawkins of Greensboro. She is also survived by six grandchildren, Hillary Dawkins, Christina Dawkins, Ben Dawkins, Ana Watson and husband Grant, Jessica Raynor and Nathan Sullivan and a great grandson, Preston Raynor Watson. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Lewis Dawkins.

The family will receive friends from 6:30-8:30PM on Wednesday September 17 at Forbis & Dick Funeral Home on North Elm Street

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, 202 Centreport Drive, Suite 100, Greensboro, NC 27401.

Mrs. Victoria Bruno Winberg

Mrs. Victoria Bruno Winberg, died Wednesday, September 17, 2003, at Moses Cone Memorial Hospital

The funeral service will be 11:00AM Saturday, September 20, at Forbis & Dick Guilford Chapel officiated by Reverend David Cox. The interment will follow in Westminster Gardens.

Victoria was retired from the US Goverment Soil Conservation Service and had a great love for quilting and ceramics.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene H. Winberg.

Surviving are her sons and their wives, Gene and April Winberg of Greensboro, Tom and Dorcas Winberg of Baltimore, MD and daughter, Carol Ramage of Caldwell, OH; brother, David Bruno of FL; sister, Edith Dunlap and husband Chant of OH. Eric, Adam, Tara, Angela, Michael, Missy, Alicia, Tricia and Andrea, her grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren, all the love of her life and the sparkle in her eye, also survive her. She also leaves behind pets, Tippy and Cleo.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00PM Friday, September 19 and from 10:00 to 11:00AM Saturday, September 20 at the funeral home.
