CHERRYVILLE — Mr. Floyd Beyne “Pete” Shull, 74, of 708 East Drive, died Sunday, Aug. 1, 2004, at Cleveland Regional Medical Center in Shelby.
The funeral will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Stamey-Cherryville Funeral Home with the Rev. Ken Gibson officiating. Burial will follow in City Memorial Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 tonight at the funeral home.

SHELBY — Mr. James Kennedy Cheek, of 715 Dellinger Road, died Saturday, July 31, 2004, at Crawley Memorial Hospital.

Lillian Smith
SHELBY — Mrs. Lillian Fisher Smith, 58, of 5108 Spring Lane, died Saturday, July 31, 2004, at Hospice of Cleveland County.
Her funeral will be 2 p.m. today at Morning Star Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Sunset Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 12:30 to 2 p.m. before the service at the church.
Cleveland Funeral Services is in charge of arrangements.

LAWNDALE — Mr. Bishop Lucious Gass, 81, of 150 Potato House Road, died Saturday, July 31, 2004, at Cleveland Regional Medical Center in Shelby.

KINGS MOUNTAIN — Mrs. Frankie Lewis, 79, of 132 Lake Montonia Road, died Sunday, Aug. 1, 2004, at home.
J.W. Gill and Sons Funeral Home will anounce arrangements.
Martha Grant
FAYETTEVILLE — Mrs. Martha Ann Grant, 70, of 5994 Blue Teal Court, died Saturday, July 31, 2004, at home.
No services will be held at this time.
Rogers and Breece Funeral Home of Fayetteville handled arrangements.
Guy Padgett
ASHEVILLE — Mr. Guy T. Padgett, 82, died Friday, July 30, 2004, at the VA Medical Center in Asheville.
Born in Rutherford County, he was the son of the late George H. Padgett and Minnie Wilson Padgett. He was a member of Shiloh Baptist Church. He was an Army veteran of World War II and a POW in Germany for 18 months. Padgett was also a radio operator on a B-24. He was retired from Royster Oil Company with 30 years of service.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Blanche Williamson Padgett.
He is survived by two sisters, Gladys Groves of Monroeville, Ala., and Lorene Hopson of Union Mills; and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be Monday at 2 p.m. at Spindale City Cemetery.
The burial will follow with military honors.
The family will receive friends tonight from 6:30 to 8:30 at McMahans Funeral Home.
Doree Williams
KINGS MOUNTAIN — Mrs. Doree Light Williams, 35, of 1221 Wales Road, died Friday, July 30, 2004, at Cleveland Regional Hospital.
Born in Lebanon, Penn., she was employed as a teacher at Kings Mountain High School. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Kings Mountain. The family will be at the home of Joe Williams, 299 Garrison Drive, Kings Mountain.
She is survived by her husband, Greg Williams; a son, Jonah Williams; a daughter, Abbie Williams; parents, Donald and Carole Ebling Light; and her sister, Carrie L. Hertzog of Richland, Penn.
The funeral will be Monday at 11 a.m. at First Baptist Church in Kings Mountain, with the Rev. John Sloan officiating.
The burial will follow at Mountain Rest Cemetery.
The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at Harris Funeral Home.

Lillian Smith
SHELBY — Mrs. Lillian Fisher Smith, 58, of 5108 Spring Lane, died Saturday, July 31, 2004, at the Hospice of Cleveland County.
Born in Ruther-ford County, she was a daughter of the late Glenn Harrison Fisher and Thelma Mallie Walker Fisher. Mrs. Smith was a member of Mount Vernon Baptist Church. She was a manager of Hardees for 15 years and was currently employed at Bojangles.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Louise Toney, and her daughter, Carla Jean Alley.
She is survived by her husband, Steven J. Smith; three daughters, Lori Ann Alley of Forest City, Donna Lynn Cooper of Forest City and Sandra Elizabeth Dobbins of Forest City; one son, Carl Lee Maynor of Gaffney, S.C.; two brothers, Hugh Fisher of Forest City and Arnold Fisher of Hayes, Va.; six sisters, Elizabeth Lovelace, Susan Herman, Eunice Higgins and Doris Sanders, all of Forest City, Christine Davis of Morganton, and Joyce Wilson of Norfolk, Va.; 10 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
The funeral will be Monday at 2 p.m. at Morning Star Baptist Church, with the Rev. Ron Lesley officiating.
The burial will follow the service at Sunset Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Monday from 12:30 to 2 p.m. at Morning Star Baptist Church.

Thelma Green
SHELBY — Mrs. Thelma Elaine Lemons Green, 72, of 1829 Ridings Road, died Friday, July 30, 2004, at home.
Born on Nov. 30, 1931, in Cleveland County, she was a daughter of the late Radford W. and Nancy Roberts Lemons. She retired from Doran Mill and was a member of Double Springs Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by brothers, R.L. Lemons, William M. Lemons and Private First Class Earl W. Lemons.
She is survived by her husband, Floyd A. Green of the home; a son, Ricky Dean Green of Shelby; two brothers and two sisters-in-law, Charles and Betty Lemons, and Carl Ray and Margaret Lemons, all of Shelby; three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Andrean Evans of Shelby, Ethel L. and Carver J. Warren, of Patterson Springs and Margaret and the Rev. Harold Spake, of Summerville, S.C.; grandsons, Zachary Tyler Green, Nicky Green and Terry Dills; and granddaughters, Heather Green, Deana Green and Chelsey Philbeck.
The funeral will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at Clay-Barnette Funeral Home Chapel, with the Revs. Harold Spake and Steve Waters officiating. Burial will follow in Patterson Springs Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends tonight at the funeral home from 6 to 8 and at other times at the home.

SHELBY — Ruth Pearson Rollins, 79, of 708 Skinner Road, died Friday, July 30, 2004, at Cleveland Regional Medical Center.
The funeral will be today at 3 p.m. at Elizabeth Baptist Church, with the Revs. Jeff Brendle and Mike McGee officiating.
Burial will follow in the Elizabeth Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family received friends Saturday evening at the Cecil M. Burton Funeral Home.

SHELBY — Elijah Alexander Floyd, infant son of Jason Allen Floyd and Lynne Rachels Floyd, of 1015 Allison Drive, died Friday, July 30, 2004, at Carolinas Medical Center.
A graveside service will be today at 2:30 p.m. at Cleveland Memorial Park, with the Rev. David Duncan officiating.
The family will receive friends Sunday at Clay-Barnette Funeral Home from 1 to 2 p.m. and at other times at the homes of both sets of grandparents.
Evelyn Tedder
ELLENBORO — Miss Evelyn Tedder, 87, died Friday, July 30, 2004, at Crawley Memorial Hospital.
A graveside service will be today at 3 p.m. at Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery.
