CLIFFSIDE — Mr. Donald Ralph Spears, 46, of 154 Jennie Lane, died Friday, June 20, 2003, at his home.
A memorial service will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. at McKinney-Landreth Funeral Home with the Rev. Jake Bailey officiating.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home after the service.

BOILING SPRINGS — Mr. Paul Joseph Koch, Sr., of 103 East College Drive, died Monday, June 23, 2003, at Hospice of Wendover.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 28, 2003, at 4 p.m. at Boiling Springs Baptist Church.

Douglas Sutton
KINGS MOUNTAIN — Mr. Douglas Sutton, 77, of 401 N. Cansler St. died June 25, 2003, at Kings Mountain Hospital.
The funeral will be Saturday, June 28, 2003, at 3 p.m. at the Bynum Chapel A.M.E. Zion, with the Rev. Pruyear officiating. Visitation will be 30 minutes before the service. The body will be placed in the church at 1 p.m.

Paul Koch Sr.
SHELBY — Mr. Paul Joseph Koch Sr., 76, of 103 E. College Drive, Boiling Springs, died Monday, June 23, 2003, at Hospice at Wendover.
Born in Woodbridge, N.J., he was a son of the late August and Theresa Farkas Koch. He graduated from Rutgers University with a Bachelor of Science degree in chemistry. He was formerly employed by Allied Chemical (Allied Signal Division of Honeywell) and retired from the Crystal Cathedral Hour of Power Ministries. He served in the U.S. Medical Corps during World War II and in the Korean conflict. He was awarded two Purple Hearts. He loved doing oil paintings and traveling.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Mary Theresa Koch.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Charlotte Ann O’Hara Koch of the home; two sons, Gustav Charles Koch and wife, Edie of Jefferson, Ga., and Paul J. Koch Jr. and wife, Diane, of Boiling Springs; one daughter, Deborah Kathleen Koch Gerst and husband, Jay, of Fairfax Station, Va.; one brother, Gustave Koch and wife, Mary O’Hara, of Fort Gibson, Okla.; one sister, Patricia K. O’Donnell and husband, Frank, of Hubert; six grandchildren, Theresa Mary Koch, Paul J. Koch III, Aaron Matthew Koch, Sara Elizabeth Koch, Nicole Theresa Koch and Samantha Holden Koch; and one great-grandchild, Mary Rebecca Koch.
A memorial service will be Saturday at 4 p.m. at Boiling Springs Baptist Church with the Rev. Paul McManus and David Fambrough officiating. Burial will be in Cleveland Memorial Park with military honors by the U.S. Navy.
The family will receive friends in the church fellowship hall one hour before the service and at other times at the home.

KINGS MOUNTAIN — Mr. Bobby Gene Parker Sr., 52, of 103 Beta Court, died Tuesday, June 24, 2003, at his home.
The funeral will be Friday at 3 p.m. at Christian Freedom Baptist Church with the Rev. Mike Chambers officiating. Burial will be in Mountain Rest Cemetery.

HUNTERSVILLE — Mrs. Marilea Bloomer Martin, 55, of 8734 Taunton Drive, died Tuesday, June 24, 2003, at home.

Bama Noblett
SHELBY — Mrs. Bama Lewis Noblett, 88, of 934 W. Warren St., died Tuesday, June 24, 2003, at Cleveland Pines Nursing Center.
Born in Cairo, Ga., she was a daughter of the late C.F. and Margaret Elkin Womble of Cairo. She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Marietta, Ga. and Central United Methodist Church of Shelby.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, G. Harold Lewis; a brother, Talmadge Womble and a sister, Myrtis Bowen.
She is survived by one son, Neil A. Lewis and wife, Suzanne, of Memphis, Tenn.; one daughter, Harriet L. Miller of Shelby; three grandchildren, Traci M. Denning of Shelby, Bradford Miller and wife, Alisa of Chesapeake, Va., and N. Alan Lewis and wife, Krista, of Memphis, Tenn.; and four grandchildren, Banks Denney and Scout Denning of Shelby, and C.J. and Zachary Lewis of Memphis, Tenn.
A graveside service will be Friday at 2:30 p.m. in Kennesaw Memorial Park, Marietta, with the Rev. Ron Mixer officiating.
The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 7 at Cecil M. Burton Funeral Home and at other times at the home.

Mary Lovelace
SHELBY — Mrs. Mary Potter Lovelace, 80, of 1207 Maple Springs Church Road, died Tuesday, June 24, 2003, at Hospice of Cleveland County.
Born in Rutherford County, she was the daughter of the late Wylie Ruppe and the late Aletha Mosely, foster mother. She was a homemaker and member of T.W. Lovelace Memorial Church.
In addition to her father and foster mother, she was preceded in death by her husbands, Gene Potter and the Rev. T.W. Lovelace; and a stepson, Johnnie Lovelace.
She is survived by a daughter and her husband, Wanda and “Doc” McDaniel of Cliffside; a son, Jackie Potter of Boiling Springs; a stepdaughter and her husband, Dorothy and Thurman Vassie of Shelby; three stepsons and their wives, Paul and Kay Lovelace and Isaac and Mary Lovelace, all of Shelby and J.D. and Charlene Lovelace of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
The funeral will be Friday at 2 p.m. at T.W. Lovelace Memorial Church with the Revs. Scott Caldwell and Lamar Huitt and Mr. Bob Wiggins officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Baptist Church Cemetery.

The funeral will be Friday at 4 p.m. at Fishing Creek Baptist Church with Rev. William Thompson officiating. Burial in will be in Whitehill Cemetery.
