Debra Wagnon
HICKORY - Mrs. Debra Anne Owens Wagnon, 37, died Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2002, at Duke University Medical Center.
A native of Cleveland County, she was born on Sept. 29, 1964. She was a graduate of St. Stephens High School and a graduate of Lenoir-Rhyne College, where she earned a degree in psychology. She worked for North Carolina as an indigency screener while attending college and after graduation. She also served as chief administrative assistant to resident Superior Court Judge Forrest A. Ferrell. She was employed last as a legal secretary for attorney Gene Sigmon of Sigmon, Sigmon and Isenhour. She was a member of Sandy Ridge Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Timothy Dwight Wagnon; and her grandparents, Andrew and Beulah Blanton and Wofford and Mozelle Owens.
She is survived by her parents, William Thomas "Tommy" and Mildred Blanton Owens of Hickory; her sister and brother-in-law, Tammy Owens and Bryan O'Neal of Hickory; her fiance, Gene Sigmon of Newton; and a number of aunts, uncles and cousins.
The funeral will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at Sandy Ridge Baptist Church with the Revs. Tom Huntsigner and Homer Greene officiating.
Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery.
Pallbearers are Forrest A. Ferrell, Fielding Clark II, Timothy Kincaid, Gregory Hayes, David Moose and Scott Reilly.
The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 p.m. at Sandy Ridge Baptist Church and at other times at the home of Tammy and Bryan O'Neal at 5060 16th St. Drive, N.E.

Syble Dillingham
BOILING SPRINGS - Mrs. Syble Kanipe Dillingham, 94, of West College Avenue, died Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2002, at Cleveland Regional Medical Center.
A native of Cleveland County, she was the daughter of the late Z.L. and Belle Lochrage Kanipe. She was retired from Cone Mills in Cliffside and was a charter member of Boiling Springs United Methodist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Henry M. Dillingham.
She is survived by two sons, Bobby Dillingham of Chesapeake, Va., and Clarence Dillingham of Inman, S.C.; four brothers, Clayton Kanipe of Dallas, N.C., Hoyle Kanipe of Ellenboro, the Rev. Joe Kanipe of Mooresboro and Eugene Kanipe of Mill Springs; a sister, Hessie Bowman of Boiling Springs; and six grandchildren.
The funeral will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at Boiling Springs United Methodist Church with Dr. Robert Parsons, the Rev. Joe Kanipe, Judy Whisnant and Carol Whisnant officiating. Burial will be in Cleveland Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends Saturday from 12:30 to 1:45 p.m. in the church fellowship hall.

ELLENBORO - Mr. Martin H. Beam Sr., 69, of 514 Beams Mill Road, died Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2002, at Rutherford Hospital.

Munro Boinest Jr.
DAVIDSON - Mr. Munro Lebby Boinest Jr., 81, died Monday, Dec. 31, 2001, at his home.
Born Dec. 27, 1920, in Richmond, Va., he was a son of the late Nellie Walters and Munro Lebby Boinest.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Daniel Boinest, formerly of Richmond.
He was a member of the class of 1941 at Virginia Polytechnic Institute where he studied chemical engineering. He served in the Army Signal Corps in Europe during World War II. He worked for more than 30 years in the paper industry, beginning with Albemarle Paper Company in Richmond and ending with Champion International Corp. in Roanoke Rapids, where he retired as vice president and resident manager of the Roanoke Rapids Mill. He was a past chairman of the North Carolina Pulp and Paper Foundation at N.C. State University.
He was a past chairman of the Halifax Memorial Hospital Board, a past member of the Roanoke Rapids City School Board and past senior warden and vestry member of All Saints Episcopal Church in Roanoke Rapids. Since moving to The Pines at Davidson in 1997, he had been involved with the residents association, serving as president for two years.
He is survived by his wife, Patricia Johnson Boinest of Davidson; two sons and daughters-in-law, Trip (Munro Lebby Boinest III) and Sherry Holt Boinest of Shelby and Henry Walker and Nancy Prather Boinest of Richmond; two granddaughters, Jordan Boinest and Lydia Boinest, both of Shelby; a grandson and his wife, Joseph and Apryl Wesson McCraw of Shelby; a sister, Elizabeth B. Conner of Richmond; and a brother, William C. Boinest of Richmond.
The funeral will be Friday at 11 a.m. at All Saints Episcopal Church in Roanoke Rapids. Burial will be at Cedarwood Cemetery.
The family will receive friends today from 2 to 3:30 p.m. in the living room at The Pines and tomorrow after noon at the parish hall at All Saints Episcopal Church.

Martha Allen
SHELBY - Mrs. Martha Thomas Smith Allen, 88, of 300 N. Post Road, died Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2002, at her home.
A native of Watkinsville, Ga., she was a daughter of the late Adam Wilkerson and Zula Lenora Barnett Smith. She was retired from the N.C. Department of Transportation after 30 years of service and was a secretary. She was a member of Elizabeth Baptist Church and participated in painting, quilting and cooking. She was author of the cookbook entitled, "Recipes of a Lifetime."
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Hill Carl "H.C." Allen Jr.
She is survived by a son, Steve Allen of the home; a daughter and son-in-law, Jane Allen and Mike Helton of Hickory; a brother, John M. Smith of Americus, Ga.; three sisters, Virginia S. Tucker of Charlotte, Thelma McMichael of Americus and Mildred Alcorn of Columbia, S.C.; two grandchildren, Bryan Hord and his wife, Shelby, of Shelby, and Betsy James and her husband, Richard, of Shelby; two stepgrandsons, Wesley Helton and Ricky Helton; three great-grandchildren, Amanda James, Melissa James and Kaitlyn James; and three stepgreat-grandchildren, Mindy Hoyle, Tiffany Hoyle and Vanessa Hoyle.
The funeral will be Friday at 2 p.m. at Elizabeth Baptist Church with the Rev. Jeff Brendle officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery.

He is survived by his wife, Louise Brooks; three daughters and a son, Shirley Brooks Waldrum, Pamela Hamilton, Dyana Brooks and Michael A. Brooks; eight grandchildren, Antoine, Earica, Brooke, Earic, Brandon, Alayna, Dana and Sasha; five great-grandchildren; two sisters, Catherine Montgomery and Mary Smart; a brother, Thurman Brooks; and other relatives and friends.
The funeral will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at Brooks Chapel in Polkville with Dr. T.A. Powell officiating.
