Chris Brafford
KINGS MOUNTAIN - Mr. Chris Brafford, 50, of 641 B.A.D. Horse Trail, died Thursday, Jan. 3, 2002, at Duke University Medical Center.
A memorial service will be Sunday at 3 p.m. at Ollie Harris Memorial Chapel of Harris Funeral Home with the Revs. Ronnie Bowers and Carrol Henderson officiating.
The family will receive friends one hour before the service at the funeral home.

Everett Hollifield
SHELBY - Mr. Everett W. Hollifield, 89, of 112 Holly Hill St., died Friday, Jan. 4, 2002, at Hospice at Wendover.
A native of Ruther-ford County, he was a son of the late Cordie L. and Mary Olivia Neal Hollifield. He was former owner and operator of Hollifield's Body Shop and was retired from Cleveland Community College as a body shop instructor. He was a member of Zoar Baptist Church where he was a former deacon, president of the senior citizens group, member of the cemetery committee, the homebound committee, choir director and Sunday school teacher. He was a charter member of Cleveland Volunteer Fire Department, served as chaplain and was an honorary member.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, C.L. Hollifield Jr. and Fay Hollifield; four sisters, Ethel Hollifield, Lillian Warren McDaniel, Elizabeth Dillingham and Ruth McDaniel.
He is survived by his wife of more than 72 years, Sarah Green Hollifield of the home; three sons and daughters-in-law, Eugene and Ivey Hollifield of Conover, Derrell D. and Dorothy Hollifield and Eckels and Sybil Hollifield, all of Shelby; two daughters and a son-in-law, Clara Alexander and Brenda and Bob Hamilton, all of Shelby; a brother, the Rev. Kenneth Hollifield of Charlotte; two sisters, Ruby Parris of Gaffney, S.C., and Beatrice Meacham of Shelby; 12 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and 3 great-great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be today at 6 p.m. at Zoar Baptist Church with Dr. Marvin Gobble officiating. A graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Cleveland Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends today from 4 to 6 p.m. at the church.

KINGSTOWN - Mr. John Thomas Thurman Jr., 81, of 1914 Petty Road, died Friday, Jan. 4, 2002, at Carolinas Medical Center.
Funeral arrangements will be announced by Genesis Funeral Service.
Willard Lester
FOREST CITY - Mr. Willard W. Lester, 84, of 463 Morning Star Lake Road, died Friday, Jan. 4, 2002, at Willow Ridge Nursing Center.
A native of Spring Hope, he was a son of the late Jefferson Wright and Nena Blanche Strickland Lester. He was retired owner of Rutherford Glass Co., served as a 2nd Lieutenant in the Army during World War II and was the recipient of a Bronze Star and The Purple Heart.
He was a member of Adaville Baptist Church, active in the veteran's organizations in Rutherford County and was awarded the Order of the Longleaf Pine by the governor of North Carolina.
He is survived by his wife, Virginia Campbell Lester of the home; three daughters, Janet Dane of Cerra Madre, Calif., Jean Cox of Orlando, Fla., and Joan Lester of Chesnee, S.C.; two sisters, Ruth Grigg of Shelby and Minnie Lester Barnes of Boiling Springs; eight stepchildren, Susan Grose Foster, Becky Buchanan and Cathy Campbell, all of Forest City, Andrew Grose of Virginia, Earleen Lancaster of Mooresboro and Clarence Campbell of Columbia, S.C.; two grandchildren and a number of stepgrandchildren and stepgreat-grandchildren.
The funeral will be Sunday at 2:30 p.m. at Adaville Baptist Church with the Revs. James Daves and J.C. Sinclair officiating. Burial with military rites will be in Cleveland Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends one hour before the service at the church.

FORT MILL, S.C. - Mrs. Annie Ruth McMahan Costner, 90, of 123 Bolin Circle, died Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2002, at Piedmont Medical Center.
A graveside service will be today at 2 p.m. at Cherry Road Grandview Memorial Park with the Rev. Carl Williams officiating.

HAMPTON, Va. - Mr. Gus Leon DeGree, 43, of 1135 LaSalle Ave., died Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2002, at home.
The funeral will be Friday at 7 p.m. at Fountain of Love Pentecostal Church.

'Pat' McDaniel
MOORESBORO - Mrs. Barbara "Pat" Lane McDaniel, 65, of 2808 McCraw Road, died Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2002, at Hospice at Wendover.
A native of Rutherford County, she was a daughter of the late Ruth Lane Harrill. She was a private duty nurse and a member of Beaver Dam Baptist Church.
She is survived by her husband, Dannie McDaniel of the home; three sons, Dennis Ray Brymer of Florida, Michael Scott Piercy of Boiling Springs and James Douglas Piercy of Mooresboro; two brothers, Jimmy Harrill of Mooresboro and Bill Lane of California; eight grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
The funeral will be today at 1 p.m. at Beaver Dam Baptist Church with the Revs. Ken Pruitt and David Fambrough officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

FOREST CITY - Mr. Robert "Bob" Bradley, 86, of 134 McMurray Road, died Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2002, at Fairhaven Nursing Home.

SPINDALE - Mr. William "Will" Greene Anderson, 77, of 602 Nebraska St., died Thursday, Jan. 3, 2002, at his home.

SHELBY - Ms. Myra "Gayle" Drumm Burns, 54, of 951 Wendover Heights Drive, died Sunday, Jan. 6, 2002, at Cleveland Regional Medical Center.
She was a daughter of the late Louie Drumm and Macie Jenkins Eaker.
She is survived by her stepmother, Margaret Drumm of Rock Hill, S.C.; a son, Charles Wesley Burns Jr. of Gastonia; a half-brother, Tony Drumm of Rock Hill; a sister and brother-in-law, Bobbie and Donald Costner of Boiling Springs; two grandchildren, Austin Chase and Emily Jordan Burns of Dallas; two nieces, Jessica McSwain of Wilmington and Holly Costner of Boiling Springs; and two aunts, Margaret Ledford and Elizabeth Nanney of Shelby.
A graveside funeral service is today at 11 a.m. at Cleveland Memorial Park, with Chaplain David Fambrough officiating.

SPINDALE - Mrs. Lucy Gray Griffin, 87, of 502 Nebraska St., died Saturday, Jan. 5, 2002, at Rutherford Hospital.
The funeral will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Spindale United Methodist Church, with the Revs. Dan Ramsey, Joe Fulk and W.T. Medlin officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Park.

Shirley Wingard
KINGS MOUNTAIN - Mrs. Shirley Mae Hambright Wingard, 58, of 307 Edel St., died Saturday, Jan. 5, 2002, at Gaston Memorial Hospital.
Born in Cherokee County, S.C., on Nov. 22, 1943, she was a daughter of the late Robert E. Lee Hambright and Lois Lorene Pennington Hambright.
She is survived by her husband, Douglas Eugene Wingard Sr. of the home; two sons, Frank Lambert and Douglas Eugene Wingard Jr. of the home; a daughter and son-in-law, Myra L. and Larry Stine of Grover; three brothers, Willie Hambright of Waco, Larry Hambright of Kings Mountain and Junior Hambright of Blacksburg, S.C.; five sisters, Lois Owenby of Mooresville, Brenda Gaddy of Grover, Jean Morrow of Kings Mountain, Mary Jones of Statesville and Gloria Aldridge of Belmont; seven grandchildren, Brandon Stine, Damien Childers, Shellie Shirey, Jessica Lambert, Alina Lambert, Michael Lambert and B.J. Lambert; two great-grandchildren, Christopher Shirey and Anna Maladonado.
The funeral is today at 2 p.m. at True Gospel Holiness Church, with the Rev. Jerry Helmes officiating. Burial will be in Mountain Rest Cemetery.

KINGS MOUNTAIN - Mr. Andrew Thomas DeBruler Jr., 75, of 307 Fulton Drive, died Sunday, Jan. 6, 2002, at Cleveland Regional Medical Center in Shelby.
Born in Guilford County, he was a son of the late Andrew Thomas DeBruler Sr. and Bertha Tatum DeBruler. He served with the Army during World War II. He belonged to El Bethel United Methodist Church in Kings Mountain and retired after 26 years with Young Brothers Furniture in Shelby.
He is survived by his wife, Betty Stone DeBruler of Kings Mountain; a daughter, Sarah Bradley of Grover; three sons, Andy DeBruler of Charlotte, Rick DeBruler of Grover and Doug DeBruler and his wife, Robin, of Shelby; two brothers, Roy DeBruler and Carl DeBruler of Burlington; two sisters, Thelma Stephens of Reidsville and Pauline Thompson of Burlington; and five grandchildren, Stephanie Lail, Andrea Lail, Ashley DeBruler, Jonathon DeBruler and Mark DeBruler.
The funeral will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at El Bethel United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Bruce Hobson and Father Vernon Moore officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
