Gertrude Callahan
ELLENBORO - Mrs. Gertrude Queen Callahan, 95, died Thursday, Jan. 31, 2002, at Rutherford Hospital.
A native of Mitchell County, she was a daughter of the late Marcus and Dovie Willis Queen. She was a homemaker.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Callahan.
She is survived by a son, Bobby Callahan of Ellenboro; a sister, Ellen Romines of Hickory; five grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Graveside services were Friday at Drury Dobbins Baptist Church with the Rev. Bobby Deviney officiating.
McKinney-Landreth Funeral Home, Cliffside, is in charge of arrangements.
Bobby Hendrix
BOSTIC - Mr. Bobby Joe Hendrix, 59, of 455 Gun Club Road, died Friday, Feb.1, 2002, at Rutherford Hospital.
The funeral will be today at 4 p.m. in the chapel of Crowe's Funeral Home with the Revs. Perry Jones and Joe Rinehart officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends today from 2:30 to 4 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mildred Peck
SHELBY - Mrs. Mildred Holland Tessner Peck, 82, of 1029 Brookwood Drive, died Saturday, Feb. 2, 2002.
A native of Cleveland County, she was a daughter of the late Gifton and Cora Davis Holland.
She was a member of Second Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Woodrow Tessner; her second husband, C.H. Peck; and a brother, Max Holland.
She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Jo Ann Tessner and Joel Mauney of Shelby; a brother, C.O. Holland of Mooresboro; a sister, Valerie Short of Shelby; and a grandson, Duane Mauney of Washington, D.C.
The funeral will be Monday at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Clay-Barnette Funeral Home with Dr. Jerry Lail officiating.
Burial will be in Cleveland Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends immediately after the service at the funeral home.

SHELBY - Mr. William "Bill" Harry, 85, of 110 Column Circle, died Saturday, Feb. 2, 2002, at Cleveland Regional Medical Center.
Arrangements will be announced by Cecil M. Burton Funeral Home.
Fred Bridges
FOREST CITY - Mr. Fred Marshall Bridges, 73, of 125 Smith St., died Thursday, Jan. 31, 2002, at home.
The funeral will be Sunday at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Crowe's Funeral Home with the Rev. Boyce Gregory officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 8 at the funeral home.
Frances Ledford
SHELBY - Mrs. Frances Champion Ledford, 82, of 415 Stroud Road, died Thursday, Jan. 31, 2002, at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte.
Born in Cleveland County, she was the daughter of the late Grover Cleveland and Mamie Gold Champion and retired from Wray's Department Store. She was a member of Second Baptist Church in Shelby.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Landon Ledford.
She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Diane and Wayne Blanton of Shelby; a grandson and granddaughter-in-law, Dwayne Thomas and Julie Ferns Blanton of Charlotte; a great-grandson, Zachary Thomas Blanton; and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral is today at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Cecil M. Burton Funeral Home with Dr. Jerry Lail officiating. Burial will be in Cleveland Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends one hour before the service at the funeral home and at other times at the home.
Moses Hunt
PAWLEY'S ISLAND, S.C. - Mr. Moses Hunt, 71, of 44 Lance Lane, died Monday, Jan. 28, 2002, at Georgetown Memorial Hospital in Georgetown, S.C.
The funeral is today at noon at Mount Zion Baptist Church. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
The family will meet at the home of his daughter, Cynthia Pettis, in Shelby.

Naomi Jennings
NEWARK, N.J. - Mrs. Naomi Ruth Flack Jennings, 78, died Tuesday, Jan. 29, 2002, at her home.
Born in Cleveland County, she was a daughter of the late Laymond and Leila Flack.
She is survived by her daughter, Loretta Kee; a granddaughter, Nija Kee; two great-granddaughters, Kayla Vickers and Kamil Vickers; two sisters, Minnie Flack Parker and Wyvonia Flack Carter; two brothers, Jack Flack and Charles Flack; and nieces, nephews and cousins.
The funeral will be Monday at Greater New Point Missionary Baptist Church in Irvington, N.J. Burial will be in Rosedale Cemetery in Orange, N.J.
The family will receive friends at the church Sunday from 4 to 7 p.m.

Bill Harry
SHELBY - William "Bill" Harry, 85, of 110 Columns Circle, died Saturday, Feb. 2, 2002, at Cleveland Regional Medical Center.
A native of Cleveland County, he was a retired plant manager and co-owner of Minette Mills in Grover. He was a member of Shiloh Presbyterian Church and graduated from Clemson University.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Susan Katherine Meares.
He is survived by his wife, Katherine Bonebrake Harry; two daughters and sons-in-law, Louise and Bill Neal and Billi Ann and Hoyt Bailey, all of Shelby; a brother, David L. Harry of Grover; two sisters, Sadelle Uzzell of Asheville and Frances Barrier of High Point; six grandchildren and their spouses, Margot and David Alexander of Shelby, Jennifer Meares of Atlanta, Price and Rich Witucki of Atlanta, Ron Meares III of Townsend, Tenn., Sheryl and Warren Stephen of Chapel Hill, William and Wesley McClure of Surfside Beach, S.C.; a foster grandchild, Carrie Ferris Kale and her husband, Greg, of Boone and nine great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Shiloh Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Nancy Mugford officiating. A private burial will follow in Grover cemetery.
The family will receive friends following the service in the church ladies parlor.

KINGS MOUNTAIN - Mr. Larry L. Carroll, 50, of 800 First St., died Sunday, Feb. 3, 2002, at the Wendover Hospice Unit in Shelby.
The funeral will be Tuesday at 3 p.m. at Missionary Methodist Church with the Revs. Howard Hardin and Jerry Millwood officiating. Burial will follow in Mountain Rest Cemtery in Kings Mountain.
The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at Harris Funeral Home and other times at the home.

LINCOLNTON - Mrs. Pauline Anderson Wilkes Czarnecki Idol, 79, of 580 Sherrill Farm Road, died Wednesday, Jan. 30, 2002, at Cardinal Health Care & Rehabilitation of Lincolnton.
The funeral will be today at 2 p.m. at Lincolnton Pentecostal Holiness Church with the Rev. Jerry Goodman officiating. Burial will be in Asbury United Methodist Church Cemetery.
