Funeral arrangements will be announced by Clay-Barnette Funeral Home.

LINCOLNTON - Mr. Kevin Andrew Black, 39, of 3021 Heavner Farm Court, died Monday, Feb. 4, 2002, at Lincoln Medical Center.
The funeral will be Thursday at 3 p.m. at First Baptist Church in Cherryville with the Revs. Fred Helms and Joel Jenkins officiating.
The body will be placed in the church 30 minutes before the service.
The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 8 at Carpenter's Funeral Home in Cherryville.

LINCOLNTON - Christopher Andrew Black, 15, of 3021 Heavner Farm Court, died Monday, Feb. 4, 2002, at Lincoln Medical Center.

RUTHERFORDTON - Ms. Mae Evelin McKinney Greene, 83, of Colonial Manor Nursing Home, died Tuesday, Feb. 5, 2002, at home.
Funeral arrangements will be announced by Cecil M. Burton Funeral Home.
Lori Emory
MARANA, Ariz. - Ms. Lori Ann Ward Emory, 30, of 12302 Blacktail Road, formerly of Shelby, died Friday, Feb. 1, 2002, at home.
Born in Cleveland County, she was a homemaker.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Phyllis Ann Hardin Ward.
She is survived by her father and stepmother, Wayne and Wanda Ward of Shelby; two sons, Wesley Black and Dustin Black; a brother, Jesse Dwayne Ward; and a fiancee, Larry Cocchiarella.
Graveside services will be Thursday at 2:30 p.m. at Cleveland Memorial Park with the Rev. Jackie Price officiating.
The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. before the services at Cecil M. Burton Funeral Home.
Kathleen Hughey
SHELBY - Mrs. Kathleen Ledbetter Hughey, 72, of 2908 Dravo Road, died Monday, Feb. 4, 2002, at Carolinas Medical Center.
Born in York County, S.C., she was the daughter of the late Claude Marion and Barbara Ellen Martin Wray. She was retired from Cleveland Regional Medical Center, where she was a Licensed Practical Nurse, and was a member of Mount Sinai Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Sidney Bryan Ledbetter; two brothers, Marion Wray and Donald Wray; a sister, Edith Wray; and a grandson, Andy Ledbetter.
She is survived by her husband, James Hughey of Shelby; four sons and daughters-in-law, Jerry and Denise Ledbetter, Clyde and Janet Ledbetter, Lee and Annette Ledbetter, and Bobby and Deborah Ledbetter, all of Shelby; three granddaughters and grandsons-in-law, Jodi and Scott Grubb of West Jefferson and Beth and Greg Lloyd and Brandy and Kevin Hamrick, all of Shelby; four grandsons and a granddaughter-in-law, Bryan and Sara Ledbetter of Chapel Hill and Stephen Ledbetter, Jason Ledbetter and Alex Ledbetter, all of Shelby; two granddaughters, Dana Ledbetter and Danielle Ledbetter, both of Shelby; two great-granddaughters, Sydney Kate Grubb and Hallie Grubb of Shelby; three brothers, Arnold Wray, Gene Wray and Frank Wray, all of Shelby; a sister, Brenda Lovelace of Belmont; two stepdaughters and a stepson-in-law, Judy and Charles Porter of Blacksburg, S.C., and Carolyn Hughey of Chesnee, S.C.; two stepgrandchildren, Lorrie Martin and Duane Porter of Blacksburg; and three stepgreat-grandchildren, Jeremy Greene, Amanda Porter and Brooke Martin, all of Blacksburg.
The funeral will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Mount Sinai Baptist Church with the Revs. Tim Trexler and Broadus Heatherly officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 8 at Cleveland Funeral Services.

Hobert Mull
LAWNDALE - Mr. Webster Hobert Mull, 86, of West Main Street, died Sunday, Feb. 3, 2002, at Shelby Manor.
Born Nov. 7, 1915, in Cleveland County, he was the son of the late Joseph Charles and Lois Susan Whisnant Mull. He was retired from Cleveland Mills of Lawndale and Esther Mill of Shelby. He was a member of Lawndale Baptist Church where he was an R.A. Leader.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Eva Jane Bowman Mull; two infant sons; two brothers, Jack Mull and Preston "Pep" Mull; and three sisters, Sue Ramsey, Dorothy Sue Harris and Annie Rae Ballard.
He is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Randy and Brenda Mull of Boiling Springs; a daughter and son-in-law, Lois M. and Steve Truelove of Grover; a granddaughter and grandson-in-law, Sandy and Tim Quattlebaum of Boiling Springs; a grandson, Matthew Truelove of Grover; and two great-grandchildren, Dusty and Christen Quattlebaum.
The funeral will be tonight at 6:30 at Stamey Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. James B. Richardson and the Rev. Clyde Buckner officiating.
The family will receive friends immediately following the service tonight.
Graveside services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. in Rose Hill Memorial Park with Mr. Jesse Thackerson officiating.

Iris Adams
KINGS MOUNTAIN - Mrs. Iris E. Adams, 79, of 112 Lake Shore Drive, died Sunday, Feb. 3, 2002, at Carillon Assisted Living.
Born in Portland, Ore., she was the daughter of the late Clark Davis and Malvina Ruth White Estey. She was retired from Greives as a secretary and was a member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church and Welcome Wagon of Shelby.
She is survived by her husband, Guy L. Adams of the home; two sons and daughters-in-law, Guy Jr. and Jean Adams and Jeffery and Sue Adams, all of Lawndale; a daughter and son-in-law, Jennifer and Bruce Elwell of Raleigh; seven grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
The funeral will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Aldersgate United Methodist Church with the Rev. Kim Ingram and Dr. Jeff Patterson officiating. The body will be placed in the church 30 minutes before the service. Burial will be in Cleveland Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 7:30 at Clay-Barnette Funeral Home.

PHILADELPHIA - Mrs. Sallie B. Rodriques, 70, of 61 Washington Ave., died Sunday, Feb. 3, 2002, at Doctors Hospital in Philadelphia.
Genesis Funeral Service and Chapel is in charge of local arrangements.
Lois Hawkins
CLIFFSIDE - Ms. Lois Jean Mode Hawkins, 63, of 4861 Hwy. 221-A, died Sunday, Feb. 3, 2002, at Rutherford Hospital.
The funeral will be today at 3 p.m. at First Baptist Church in Mayo, S.C., with the Rev. Larry Fleming officiating. Burial will be in Rutherford County Memorial Cemetery.
The family will receive friends two hours before the service.
McKinney-Landreth Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Lucille Butler
LATTIMORE - Mrs. Lucille Goode Butler, 73, of 933 Crawley Gin Road, died Friday, Feb. 1, 2002, at Rutherford Hospital.
A native of Cleveland County, she was born July 5, 1928, a daughter of the late Jim and Estell McCraw Goode. She retired as a weaver from the textile industry. She was a member of Heaven Bound Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Loyd Odel Butler, and a daughter, Linda Holland.
She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Linda Clayton of Mooresville; a daughter and son-in-law, Margaret and Richard LaPage of Lattimore; one brother; three sisters; 10 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be Tuesday at 5 p.m. at Heaven Bound Baptist Church with the Rev. Chris Bowen officiating.
The family will receive friends following the service at the home of Pete Holland, 933A Crawley Gin Road.

Ruth Duncan
SPRUCE PINE - Mrs. Ruth Grindstaff Duncan, 84, of Cleveland Pines Nursing Home and Hopson Road in Grover, died Saturday, Feb. 2, 2002.
A native of Mitchell County, she was a daughter of the late John and Ada Huskins Grindstaff.
She was a former member of Pine Branch Baptist Church and was presented with a plaque in recognition of 35 years of working with the children in Junior Memory Work. She was a member of New Hope Baptist Church in Earl and a member of Spruce Pine Chapter No. 27 Order of the Eastern Star.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Dennis Duncan, who died in 1993; two brothers, Charles Grindstaff and Arnold Grindstaff; a sister, Belle Duncan; and a granddaughter, Nell Sparks.
She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Mike and Shirley Duncan of Altamont; two daughters and sons-in-law, Pat and Joe Hopson of Grover and Sharon and Harold Bess of Shelby; a sister, Edna Fox of Weaverville; six grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be Monday at 2 p.m. at Pine Branch Baptist Church with the Revs. David Gordon and Larry Sprinkle officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Graveside rites will be conducted by Spruce Pine Chapter No. 27 Order of the Eastern Star.
The family will receive friends tonight from 6 until 8 at Webb Funeral Home and other times at the home of her daughter, Pat Hopson, 118 Hopson Drive, Grover.

GASTONIA - Mrs. Estelle Frazier Thompson, 96, of 511 W. Eighth Ave., died Friday, Feb. 1, 2002, at the White Oak Manor in Kings Mountain.
Graveside services will be Monday at 4 p.m. at El Bethel United Methodist Church Cemetery in Kings Mountain with the Rev. Richard Cole officiating.
