Robert Davis
VALE - Mr. Robert Hugh Davis, 83, of 1025 Rockdale Road, died Monday, Feb. 11, 2002, at Lincoln Medical Center.
Born March 15, 1918, in Lincoln County, he was a son of the late Robert Presley and James "Jimmie" Alice Jeffries Davis. He was retired from Drexel Furniture and was also a farmer. He was a member of Norman's Grove Baptist Church, where he was a charter member of the Baptist Men's Brotherhood.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Selma Mae Bartlett, and a brother, Roy Davis.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Ola Mae King Davis of the home; a son, Ronald "Ronnie" Hugh Davis of Vale; a daughter, Brenda Kay Munday of Vale; a sister, Madge Randall of Hickory; a granddaughter, Angelic Weaver of Vale; two grandsons, Jonathan Munday of Shelby and James Davis of Vale; and two great-grandchildren, Chelsea Weaver and Caleb Weaver.
The funeral will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at Norman's Grove Baptist Church with the Rev. Cecil Buff officiating. The body will be placed in the church 30 minutes before the service.
Burial will be in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 8 at Stamey Funeral Home.

Noah Hamilton
FOREST CITY - Mr. Noah Hamilton, 75, of 781 Withrow Road, died Sunday, Feb. 10, 2002, at Rutherford Hospital.
The funeral will be Thursday at 3 p.m. at New Vernon Baptist Church in Bostic with the Rev. Clifton Harris officiating. The body will be placed in the church one hour before the service. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Thompson Brothers Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Hazel Pearson
SHELBY - Mrs. Hazel Pearson, 70, of 2605 Spring Valley Terrace, died Monday, Feb. 11, 2002, at Kings Mountain Hospital.
Born April 29, 1931, in Cleveland County, she was a daughter of the late Avery Tate and Mattie Tate Bridges. She was retired from Fasco Corp. and was a member of Dover Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William Harvey Pearson.
She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Donnie and Shirley Pearson of Kings Mountain and William Harvey Jr. and Madeline Pearson of Mountain Home, Idaho; a daughter, Teresa Duncan of Maiden; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Charles and Agnes Tate of Chester, S.C., and Bobby and Kay Tate of Kings Mountain; a sister and brother-in-law, Betty and Martin Bridges of Kings Mountain; seven grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be Thursday at 3 p.m. in the chapel of Clay-Barnette Funeral Home with the Rev. Phil Bailey officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Cemetery.
The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 8 at the funeral home and at other times at the home of her son, Donnie Pearson, 111 Remington Drive, Kings Mountain.
Memorials may be made to Dover Baptist Church, 1501 Polkville Road, Shelby, NC 28150.
Iris Oehler
DALTON, Ga. - Mrs. Iris Harmon Oehler, formerly of Shelby, died Tuesday, Feb. 12, 2002, in Hamilton Medical Center.
She was the daughter of the late Anne Bost and L.C. Harmon Sr.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles W. Oehler Sr., and a brother, L.C. Harmon Jr.
She is survived by her two daughters and a son-law, Kathryn and Sid Sellers of Dalton and Jane Crosby of Newport News, Va.; a son and daughter-in-law, Bill and Jerri Oehler of Durham; two sisters, Lucille Harmon Burris of Hickory and Billie Harmon Hancock of Winston-Salem; grandchildren, Tyna and Barron Stevenson and Michael and Mary Wise, all of Dalton, Kim and Scott Kozenski of Schaumburg, Ill., Leslie Crosby of Newport News, Va., David Oehler of Wilmington and Bill Brown of Washington, D.C.; and great-grandchildren, Henry and Jackson Stevenson and Elizabeth Anne Wise, all of Dalton.
A private graveside service will be held in North Carolina at a later date.

Iva Padgett
SHELBY - Mrs. Iva Mae Rabb Padgett, 81, of 605 Leander St., died Tuesday, Feb. 12, 2002, at the Brian Center in Lincolnton.
A native of Rutherford County, she was retired from Shelby Mill Co. She was a member of North Lafayette Street Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Florence Hayes Rabb, and her husband, Crosson Padgett.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Cheri and Robert Nipper of Shelby; a grandson, Crosson James Nipper of Shelby; and two sisters, Minnie Hopper and Frances Keeter, both of Hickory.
The funeral will be Thursday at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Clay-Barnette Funeral Home with the Revs. Kenneth Morrison and Ervin Price officiating. The family will receive friends tonight at the funeral home from 6:30 to 8 and other times at the home.
Norma Kiser
SHELBY - Mrs. Norma Canipe Kiser, 82, of 116 Lattimore St., No. 1, died Tuesday, Feb. 12, 2002, at home.
Funeral arrangements will be announced by Cleveland Funeral Services.
Ruth Rinehardt
SHELBY - Mrs. Ruth Hill Rinehardt, formerly of Shelby, died Tuesday, Feb. 12, 2002, at Cleveland Regional Medical Center.
A native of Rowan County, she was born Dec. 18, 1919, the daughter of the late Lou and John Hill. She was educated in the Rowan County school system and worked for China Grove Cotton Mill. She was a member of Ursinus United Church of Christ in Rockwell.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Adam Rinehardt, who died Dec. 2, 1983, and a son, Tommy Rinehardt, who died in February of 1985.
She is survived by a son, Bob Rinehardt of Shelby; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at Ursinus United Church of Christ Cemetery in Rockwell with the Rev. Jim Staunton officiating.
The family will receive friends following the service.

VALE - Mrs. Joann Newton Martin, 65, of 1675 North Brook III School Road, died Monday, Feb. 11, 2002, at Carolinas Medical Center.
The funeral will be Thursday at 3 p.m. at Mount Vernon Baptist Church with the Rev. Don Willis officiating. The body will be placed in the church 30 minutes before the service. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at Stamey Funeral Home.
Grace McCall
KINGS MOUNTAIN - Mrs. Grace Falls McCall, 74, of 112 Tack Court, died Monday, Feb. 11, 2002, at Cleveland Regional Medical Center.
The funeral will be Thursday at 3 p.m. in the Ollie Harris Memorial Chapel of Harris Funeral Home with the Revs. Todd Braswell and Eddie Grey officiating.
Burial will be in Mountain Rest Cemetery.
The family will receive friends one hour before the service at the funeral home and at other times at the home of her sister, 100 Spruce St., Gaffney, S.C.
John Paul Oates
LAWNDALE - Mr. John Paul Oates, 56, of 201 Powerhouse Road, died Saturday, Feb. 9, 2002, at his home.
A native of Cleveland County, he was the son of the late Lovie and Inez Oates. He was self-employed for 10 years in the cleaning service industry.
He is survived by his wife, Lori Richards Oates; a son, Adam Oates of the home; two daughters, Shakila Oates of the home and Amelia Oates of Charlotte; three brothers, Robert Oates of Redhook, N.Y., Don Oates of Morganton and Ben Oates of Mount Vernon, N.Y.; two sisters, Abby Oates of Shelby and Thelma Oates of Shelby; and three grandchildren.
The funeral will be today at 2 p.m. at Lawndale First Baptist Church with the Rev. Billy D. Houze officiating.
Burial will be in Rose Hill Memorial Park Cemetery.

Danny Pruett
CASAR - Mr. Danny Wayne Pruett, 31, of 423 Parker Road, died Saturday, Feb. 9, 2002, at Cleveland Regional Medical Center.
He was born July 18, 1970, in Burke County.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Richard "Mewill" Pruett.
He is survived by his wife, Sheila Virginia Blanton Pruett of the home; his parents, Carl John and Nevea Mozelle Chapman Pruett of Casar; two stepsons, Darin Ivey and Chris Ivey; three brothers, David Pruett, Johnny Pruett and Billy Pruett, all of Casar; a sister, Janie Beatty of Casar; a grandmother, Bessie Pruett of Casar; two nieces, Mandy Hudson and Marie Thornton.
The funeral will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Pisgah Baptist Church with the Rev. Chris Sanford officiating. The body will be placed in the church 30 minutes before the service. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at Stamey Funeral Home.
Theron Farrow
SHELBY - Mr. Theron Farrow, 78, of 101 Rustling Wind Drive, died Sunday, Feb. 10, 2002, at VA Medical Center in Asheville.
Born in Spartanburg, S.C., he was a son of the late J.B. Jr. and Cora Lewis Farrow. He was retired from Baird Furniture Co., and he was a member of Dover Baptist Church. He served in the Navy during World War II in the Pacific Theater.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Betty Bailey; and a sister, Lois Farrow Elliott.
He is survived by his second wife, Sherry Whitaker Farrow of the home; a son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Allison Farrow of Kodiak, Alaska; a daughter, Marie Farrow of Marietta, Ga.; two granddaughters, Allison Farrow and Melissa Farrow Baker; three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Juanita and Carl Poston of Shelby, Sarah and Paul Roberts of Haynes City, Fla., and Catherine Cochran of Winston-Salem; and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be Wednesday at 3 p.m. at Dover Baptist Church with the Revs. Leroy Bridges, Phil Bailey and Mr. Carl Poston officiating. Burial will be in Cleveland Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 8 at Clay-Barnette Funeral Home.

SPINDALE - Mr. Noah Junior Hamilton, 75, of Withrow Road, died Sunday, Feb. 10, 2002, at Rutherford Hospital.
