DALTON, Ga. - Mrs. Iris Harmon Oehler, formerly of Shelby, died Tuesday, Feb. 12, 2002, in Hamilton Medical Center.
She was a daughter of the late Anne Bost and L.C. Harmon Sr.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles W. Oehler Sr., and a brother, L.C. Harmon Jr.
She is survived by two daughters and a son-law, Kathryn and Sid Sellers of Dalton and Jane Crosby of Newport News, Va.; a son and daughter-in-law, Bill and Jerri Oehler of Durham; two sisters, Lucille Harmon Burris of Hickory and Billie Harmon Hancock of Winston-Salem; grandchildren, Tyna and Barron Stevenson and Michael and Mary Wise, all of Dalton, Kim and Scott Kozenski of Schaumburg, Ill., Leslie Crosby of Newport News, Va., David Oehler of Wilmington and Bill Brown of Washington, D.C.; and great-grandchildren, Henry and Jackson Stevenson and Elizabeth Anne Wise, all of Dalton.
A graveside service will be Saturday at 11 a.m. in Carolina Memorial Park in Concord.
Memorials may be made to the Society for Progressive Supranuclear Palsy, Woodholme Medical Building, Suite 515, 1838 Greene Tree Road, Baltimore, MD 21208; First Presbyterian Church, 510 Tibbs Road, Dalton, GA 30720; or Central United Methodist Church, 200 E. Marion St., Shelby, NC.

Vester Shull
VALE - Mr. Vester Shull, 84, of 7545 Macedonia Church Road, died Tuesday, Feb. 12, 2002, at Frye Regional Medical Center.
The funeral will be Friday at 3 p.m. at Mount Vernon Baptist Church with the Rev. Don Willis officiating. The body will be placed in the church 30 minutes before the service. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends tonight from 6:30 to 8:30 at the church.

Ruth Rinehardt
SHELBY - Mrs. Ruth Hill Rinehardt, formerly of Shelby, died Tuesday, Feb. 12, 2002, at Cleveland Regional Medical Center.
A native of Rowan County, she was born Dec. 18, 1919, the daughter of the late Lou and John Hill. She was educated in the Rowan County school system and worked for China Grove Cotton Mill. She was a member of Ursinus United Church of Christ in Rockwell.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Adam Rinehardt, who died Dec. 2, 1983, and a son, Tommy Rinehardt, who died in February of 1985.
She is survived by a son, Bob Rinehardt of Shelby; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be today at 11 a.m. at Ursinus United Church of Christ Cemetery in Rockwell with the Rev. Jim Staunton officiating.
The family will receive friends following the service.

Hubert Whisnant
CORNELIUS - Mr. Hubert Edmond Whisnant, 67, died Sunday, Feb. 10, 2002, at home.
Born March 25, 1934, in Rutherford County, he was a son of the late Hubert and Annie Whisnant. He was a wildlife artist, inventor and president of Mobilite Exhibit Systems in Charlotte.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Herman Whisnant and Carroll Whisnant.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley Spurlin Whisnant; two daughters and sons-in-law, Robin and Robert Forester of Salisbury and Dawn and Norman Simms of Cornelius; a son and daughter-in-law, Dana and Marcia Whisnant of Shelby; six grandchildren, Clay Mitchell, David Mitchell, Nicholas Whisnant, Blake Whisnant, Brad Simms and Missy Simms; three brothers, Charles Whisnant, Robert Whisnant and Donald Whisnant; and a sister, Nell Willis.
A memorial service will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at Huntersville Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses.

RUTHERFORDTON - Mrs. Dovie M. Moore, 79, died Wednesday, Feb. 13, 2002, at St. Luke's Hospital in Columbus.
Funeral arrangements will be announced by Thompson Brothers Funeral Home of Forest City.
John Harrill
FOREST CITY - Mr. John Baxter Harrill, 76, of 291 Mount Pleasant Church Road, died Tuesday, Feb. 12, 2002, at Rutherford Hospital.
A native of Rutherford County, he was a son of the late Earl and Leora Hill Harrill. He was a retired pipe fitter with Daniels Construction Co. and was a member of Pleasant Baptist Church. He served in the Army during World War II.
He is survived by his wife, Valoree Guffey Harrill; a son, John A. Harrill of Roswell, Ga.; three daughters, Wanda Sweatt of San Matoo, Calif., Joan Singleton of Mills River and Janet Harrill of Forest City; a brother, Charles Harrill of Greer, S.C.; three sisters, Juanita Carver of Rutherfordton, Jennie Mae Hill of Spindale and Betty McCusker of Black Mountain; and four grandchildren, Jensi Neal Sweatt, Ashley Jeanne Harrill, Jason Taylor Harrill and Megan Macie Singleton.
The funeral will be Friday at 11 a.m. at Mount Pleasant Baptist Church with the Revs. Paul Brock and Kenny Ashley officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at Harrelson Funeral Home, Caroleen.

YONKERS, N.Y. - Mr. William Lloyd Kinlow, 37, of 5 Hudson St., died Monday at Park Place in Rochelle, N.Y.

SHELBY - Mrs. Betty Louise Hunt Adams, 70, formerly of 1116 Buffalo St., died Wednesday, Feb. 13, 2002, at White Oak Manor in Charlotte.

Jack Duncan
FOREST CITY - Mr. Jack Donald Duncan, 70, of 100 Heritage Village, died Wednesday, Feb. 13, 2002, at Rutherford Hospital.
The funeral will be Friday at 2 p.m. at Harrelson Funeral Home , Caroleen, with the Rev. Robert Harris officiating. Burial will be in Rutherford County Memorial Cemetery.
The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at the funeral home.
R. Dale Bridges
WAKE FOREST - Mr. Roger Dale Bridges, 55, died Tuesday, Feb. 12, 2002.
He was born Sept. 10, 1946, the son of T.F. and Mildred Rhea Hunt Bridges. He was a graduate of the University of South Carolina, where he was a member of Kappa Alpha Order and earned a master's degree at the University of Tennessee. He served in the Army in the Republic of South Vietnam as a member of the 82nd Airborne Division, where he earned the Combat Infantryman's Badge and the 1st Infantry Division, also called the "Big Red One." He was a member of the board of directors of the Greater Shelby Chamber of Commerce, was a founding member and two-time past president of the Cleveland County Home Builders Association and was formerly a deacon and Sunday school teacher at Shelby Presbyterian Church. He was a golfer and two-time winner of the annual Member-Member golf tournament at Cleveland County Country Club. He was employed by the town of Wake Forest. He was a member of Wake Forest Baptist Church, the Kiwanis Club of Wake Forest and American Legion Post No. 187 of Wake Forest. He was a volunteer member at the N.C. Museum of History in Raleigh and at the Wake Forest College Birthplace in Wake Forest. He was also a volunteer in the Governor's Youth Assistance Program for three years.
He is survived by his father and stepmother, T.F. and Doris C. Bridges of Shelby; two daughters and sons-in-law, Stephanie Bridges and Billy Norrell of Montgomery, Ala., and Whitney Anne Bridges of Los Angeles; two grandsons, George Wilbur and William Bridges Norrell; a sister, Joann Dowdle of Mineola, Texas; a brother and sister-in-law, Donald N. and Charlene Bridges of North Augusta, S.C.; three nephews, David Bridges, Daryl Bridges and Don Dowdle; two nieces, Denise McMillan and Donna ; and a friend, Ann Ostrow of Raleigh.
The funeral will be Friday at 1 p.m. at Wake Forest Baptist Church with Dr. Thomas Jackson officiating. Burial will be Saturday at 11 a.m. in Cleveland Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at Bright Funeral Home in Wake Forest.

SHELBY - Mrs. Norma Canipe Kiser, 82, of 116 Lattimore St. No. 1, died Tuesday, Feb. 12, 2002, at home.
Born in Cleveland County, she was a daughter of the late John William and Etta Costner Canipe. She was retired from Fiber Industries-Celanese, where she worked in production services. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Hardy Hartwell Kiser; a son, Wayne Kiser; and a sister, Mary Elizabeth Canipe Cash.
She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, John and Robin Kiser of Shelby; two daughters and sons-in-law, Martha Kiser Biggerstaff and Ed Phillips and Maryetta Kiser and Tim Wease, all of Shelby; a sister, Patsy Greene of Shelby; four grandsons and granddaughters-in-law, Todd and Natalie Biggerstaff and Travis and Jennifer Biggerstaff, all of Lexington, Tim Wease Jr. and Matthew Kiser, both of Shelby; four granddaughters, Allyson Foster of Raleigh, Adrienne Kiser of Bradenton, Fla., and Amanda Wease and Stephanie Wease, both of Shelby; three great-grandsons, Cameron Foster of Raleigh and Tyler Biggerstaff and Brian Biggerstaff, both of Lexington; and one great-granddaughter, Mollie Biggerstaff of Lexington.
The funeral will be Friday at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Cleveland Funeral Services with the Rev. Dan Wallace officiating. Burial will be in Cleveland Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 8 at the funeral home and at other times at 107 Deer Run Circle in Shelby.

Ray Alexander
MORGANTON - Dr. Ray S. Alexander, 84, of Wilson Street, died Monday, Feb. 11, 2002, at Frye Regional Medical Center in Hickory.
Born Jan. 9, 1918, in Detroit, he was a son of the late Lemuel and Addie Baker Alexander. He received his doctor of optometry degree in 1948 from the Southern College of Optometry in Memphis, Tenn. He was a medical technician in the Army Air Corps and served in Panama during World War II and later in Miami, Fla. He was a member of the Morganton Lions Club for 43 years. He was past president and received the Lion of the Year award. He was a member of First Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon and also a Sunday school teacher. He was a former Cub Scout master and he was past district president of the Optometry Association of North Carolina.
He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Andrews Alexander of the home; three sons and daughters-in-law, Dr. Michael and Libby Alexander of Shelby, Dr. David and Emily Alexander of Morganton and Dr. Steven and Christine Alexander of Pampa, Texas; a daughter and son-in-law, Kathy and John Robison of Greensboro; two brothers, Paul Alexander and Waldo Alexander, both of Drexel; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Evelyn Mull of Morganton and Dorothy and Jeff Parker of Whittier, Calif.; six grandchildren, John David Alexander, Jason Heath Alexander, Daniel Cecil Alexander, Julia Carol Alexander, Christopher Ray Alexander and Stefan Charles Alexander.
The funeral will be Thursday at 3 p.m. at First Baptist Church with Dr. Thomas A. Bland Jr. officiating.
Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Morganton Lions Club and the Huffman Bible Class from the church.
The family will receive friends following the service in the church parlor.
