CHARLOTTE - Mrs. Sarah Frances Weatherford Perry, died Tuesday, Feb. 26, 2002, at Presbyterian Hospital.
The funeral will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at Westmoreland Baptist Church with the Rev. Jerry Cloninger officiating. Burial will be in Forest Lawn West Cemetery.
The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at McEwen Funeral Home.

Mary Miller
MIDLAND, Mich. - Mrs. Mary Frances Falls Miller, 81, formerly of Cleveland and Burke counties, died Sunday, Feb. 24, 2002.
The funeral will be Friday at 3 p.m. in Colonial Chapel of Sossoman Funeral Home in Morganton with Dr. Thomas A. Bland Jr. officiating. Burial will be in Burke Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends Thursday from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Mansfield Porter
SHELBY - Mr. Mansfield Sonny Porter, 71, of 1219 Masonic Drive, died Monday, Feb. 25, 2002, at Cleveland Regional Medical Center.
A native of Fluranna County, Va., he was a son of the late Dorothy Wilson. He was a member of Walls Memorial Baptist Church. He served in the Navy for 21 years until retirement. He then worked for the U.S. Postal Service for 22 years. He was a member of Hopewell Masonic Lodge No. 12 and was also a Shiner.
In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by his stepfather, Robert Wilson; a daughter Kathy Ann Porter Howell; a sister, Ethel Harris; five uncles; and one aunt.
He is survived by his wife, Catherine B. Porter of the home; two daughters and a son-in-law, Patti Dennis of the home and Renee Porter and David Mack of Asheville; two sons, Mansfield Sonny Porter Jr. of Boston and David A. Porter of Raccarville, Calif.; five grandsons; three granddaughters; three great-grandsons; two great-granddaughters; an uncle; and two aunts.
The funeral will be Thursday at 3 p.m. at Walls Memorial Baptist Church with the Rev. Nathaniel Craig officiating. Burial will be in Webb Memorial Lawns.
The family will receive friends 30 minutes before the service at the church.
Enloe Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
Hazel Crawley
FOREST CITY - Mrs. Hazel Newton Crawley, 89, of 781 Washington St., died Tuesday, Feb. 26, 2002, at Rutherford Hospital in Rutherfordton.
The funeral will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at Missionary Wesleyan Church with the Revs. Richard Prendergrast and Todd Gosset officiating. Burial will be in Bethany Baptist Church Cemetery. The body will be placed in the church 30 minutes before the service.
The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 8 at Padgett and King Mortuary.
Memorials may be made to Missionary Wesleyan Church, 811 Doggett Road, Forest City, NC 28043.
Jean Anderson
SHELBY - Mrs. Dorothy Jean Wray Anderson, of 304 N. Morgan St., died at home.
A native of Shelby, she was a daughter of the late Vick and Ione Nolan Wray. She was a graduate of Shelby High School and the Woman's College of the University of North Carolina in Greensboro. She was a retired teacher in public schools and a homemaker. She was a member of First Baptist Church and the Letha Saunders Prayer Group.
She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Jeffrey S. and Kim Anderson of Portland, Ore.; three grandchildren, Dustin Anderson of Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, Dallas Anderson of Jacksonville, Fla., and Kyle Anderson of Portland; three sisters and a brother-in-law, Kitty Wray of the home, Barbara Wray Roberts of Gastonia and Sue Wray and Roger Mann of Corona del Mar, Calif.; a niece and her husband, Suzanne and Mark Cozel of Chapel Hill; and a nephew, Gary Roberts of Winston-Salem.
A graveside service will be Thursday at 11 a.m. in Sunset Cemetery with the Rev. Tony Tench officiating.
The family will receive friends following the service.
Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church.

Rosanne Kendrick
LINCOLNTON - Mrs. Rosanne Bailey Kendrick, 48, of 315 Turner St., died Monday, Feb. 25, 2002, at North Carolina Baptist Hospital in Winston-Salem.
The funeral will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at El Shaddai Full Gospel Baptist Church with the Rev. Samuel Ervin officiating. The body will be placed in the church one hour before the service. Burial will be in Oak Grove AME Zion Church cemetery.
The family will receive friends 30 minutes before the service at the church and at other times at the home of her sister, Sheila B. Lattimore, 895 Horseshoe Lake Road, Lincolnton.

Rachel Hobbs
NORFOLK, Va. - Mrs. Rachel Walker Wells Hobbs, 88, formerly of Williamsburg, Va., died Thursday, Feb. 21, 2002, at home.
Born Nov. 9, 1913, in Shelby, she was a daughter of the late Charles Hudson Sr. and Tonce Walker Wells. After attending George Washington University, she married Junius Page Hobbs on Sept. 8, 1937, in Annapolis, Md. During his naval career they lived in Newport, R.I., Norfolk, Jacksonville, Fla., Washington, D.C., and Williamsburg, Va., where they retired. She was a long-time member and past president of the Williamsburg Chapter, National Society, Daughters of the American Revolution, and of the United Daughters of the Confederacy. In addition, she was a long-time member of the Wednesday Morning Music Club, where she served four terms as president. She was a member from the early 1960s of the Green Spring Garden Club. She served as secretary of this club and was a house co-chairperson for the Christmas Homes Tour for many years. She also for many years served as a Colonial Williamsburg escort and was a member of the Williamsburg Community Hospital Auxiliary.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, retied Navy Cmdr. Junius Page Hobbs, who died in 1979; and a son, retired Navy Cmdr. John Kendall Hobbs.
She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Rachel Hobbs and R. Steve Blanks of Roanoke, Va.; three sons and daughters-in-law, Thomas Page and Mary Frances Hobbs of Mechanicsville, Va., retired Navy Cmdr. Charles McAulay and Susan G. Hobbs of Virginia Beach and James Reid and Susan L. Hobbs of Bethesda, Md.; three sisters, Helen W. Toole and Mary W. Wray both of Shelby, and Lucille W. Turner of Charlotte; 10 grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.
A memorial service will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at Williamsburg Presbyterian Church.

Pauline Putnam
Myrtle Beach, S.C. - Mrs. Effie Pauline Wright Putnam, 80, of 1109 N. Kings Highway, died Monday, Feb. 25, 2002, at Myrtle Beach Manor.
Born April 2, 1921, in Cleveland County, she was a daughter of the late Floyd Wesley and Mary Frannie Huffstetler Wright. She was retired from Cabarrus County school system as guidance counselor. She was an honorary colonel in the Airforce ROTC and a graduate of Western Carolina Teachers College and of University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, William Monroe Wright.
She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Stephen and Sherry Putnam of Myrtle Beach; a sister and brother-in-law, Ruby and Harvey Carpenter of Kings Mountain; a stepgranddaughter, Rebecca Nokes of Smyrna, Tenn.; a stepgrandson, Billy McKinney of Sparta, Tenn.; and two stepgreat-grandchildren, Rachael Lynn Webb and Lee Webb.
The funeral will be Thursday at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Stamey Funeral Home in Fallston with the Rev. Scott Norton officiating. Burial will be in Mary's Grove United Methodist Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers are Ray Dean Carpenter and E.A. Bingham, both of Kings Mountain, Eugene Grigg and Norris Howell, both of Cherryville, Donald Huffstetler of Fallston, Wayne D. Aldridge of Fort Mill, S.C., and honorary pallbearer, William A. McKinney III of Sparta.
The family will receive friends tonight from 5 to 7 at the funeral home.
