CHERRYVILLE - Mrs. Onie Bridges Littlejohn, 90, of 209 W. Fourth St., died Monday, March 11, 2002, at Carolina Care Center in Cherryville. Born Aug. 12, 1911, in Winston County, Miss., she was a daughter of the late Lawson Bridges and Nancy "Nannie" Mauney Bridges. She retired from Ora Mill in Shelby. She was a member of First Baptist Church, member of the Lib Holleman Sunday School Class, and also a member of the Pearl Elliott Circle. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Archie Littlejohn; a son, Rev. Jimmy Littlejohn; and a daughter-in-law, Jo Ann Littlejohn. She is survived by two sons and a daughter-in-law, Don Littlejohn of Cherryville and Randy and Denise Littlejohn of Shelby; a daughter and son-in-law, Kay and Yates Farris of Daytona Beach, Fla.; a sister, Ollie Clark of Granite Falls; seven grandchildren, Dr. Jimmy Littlejohn of Kingsport, Tenn., Jonathan Littlejohn of Collinwood, Tenn., Joy Atkinson of New Bern, Yates Farris and Brad Farris both of Charlotte, Shanna Littlejohn of Hickory and Lindsey Littlejohn of Shelby; and 11 great-grandchildren. The funeral will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at First Baptist Church with the Revs. Joel Jenkins and Perry Holleman officiating. The body will be placed in the church 30 minutes before the service. KINGS MOUNTAIN - Mr. Steve R. Hicks, 46, of 204 Croft Drive, died Sunday, March 10, at his home. Born in Orange County, he was a son of the late Charles Alford Hicks. He served in the Navy during the Vietnam era, attended Chestnut Ridge Baptist Church, and was a former Kings Mountain fireman. He was a member of the Kings Mountain AM Vets and an avid golfer. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a sister, Lib Green. He is survived by his wife, Susan Gaffney Hicks of Kings Mountain; a son Steven Deshon Hicks of Kings Mountain; his mother, Thelma Wills Hicks of Kings Mountain; two brothers, Lonnie "Dickie" Burgess of Kings Mountain and Pete Burgess of Blacksburg, S.C.; and two sisters, Doris Chamblee of Shallotte and Margie Lawrence of King. The funeral will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Chestnut Ridge Baptist Church with the Rev. Mitchel Pruitt officiating. Burial will be in Bethlehem Baptist Church Cemetery. SHELBY - Master Wesley Scott Gantt, 2 months, of 3228 Crowder Ridge Road, died Sunday, March 10, 2002, at Cleveland Regional Medical Center. He was born in Cleveland County and was preceded in death by his grandfather, Jerry Ayers. He is survived by his parents, Elizabeth A. Gantt of Shelby and Scott Evans of Gastonia; his grandparents, Phyllis and Norman Green of Shelby, Richard and Vicky Stewart of Gastonia and Larry and Ellen Evans of Knoxville, Tenn.; his great-grandparents, Ruby West of Shelby, Dorothy Deeny and Jean Berge, both of Iowa; and two brothers, Phillip Greene and Derek Evans. A graveside service is today at 1 p.m. in Cleveland Memorial Park with the Rev. Kelly Ottinger officiating. The family will receive friends at the home. Cecil M. A native of Cleveland County, he was the son of George Hester and Kay Jones Hamrick and the stepson of Linda Hester, all of Shelby. He worked in the packing department of textiles and was a member of New Bethel Church of the Nazarene. He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Mary Lee Hester. In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife, Gina Nalley Hester of Shelby; a daughter, Nicole Hester of Shelby; a sister and brother-in-law, Lisa and Allen Eaker of Cherryville; two brothers and one sister-in-law, Randy Hester of Shelby and David and Crystal Clark of Newton; grandparents, Sam and Jean Black of Shelby and Oran Hester of Cherryville; five nephews, Noah Clark, Eaker Clark, Zachery Clark, Niki Clark and Cody Clark.
