MOORESBORO — Mr. Dorcas Lee Smith, 75, died Monday, April 1, 2002, at Autumn Care of Forest City. The funeral will be Friday at 11 a.m. at Harriett Memorial Free Will Baptist Church with the Revs. Robert Harris and Frank Lewis officiating. Burial will be in Casar Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Harrelson Funeral Home, Caroleen.
Kathleen Wilson
KINGS MOUNTAIN — Mrs. Kathleen Wright Wilson, 73, of 511 North Watterson St., died Friday, March 29, 2002, at home. A native of Cleveland County, she was a daughter of the late Tom and Bessie Hart Wright. She was a active and valued member of Bynum Chapel A.M.E. Zion Church, where she held offices of deaconess, trustee and member of the Stewardess Board and Senior Choir. She was a founding member of Adah Chapter No. 7, Order of the Eastern Star. She retired from Freightliner, Inc., in Mount Holly. She also worked for Mauney Hosiery Mills, City of Kings Mountain and Cleveland Community College. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Thomas, Herman and Robert Wright; and two sisters, Lola Mae Wright and Juanita W. Starr. She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Luico W. Wilson Sr.; four children and their spouses, Luico W. Wilson Jr. of Fallston, Debbie W. and Archie Crocker of Kings Mountain, Frederick Wilson of Tulsa, Okla., and Billy Faye W. and Curtis Moss of Gastonia; two foster sons, Denorris Wilson Sr. and the Rev. McFarland Remy of Kings Mountain; one foster daughter, Michelle Remy of Kings Mountain; three brothers and a sister-in-law, Beaufort Wright of Kings Mountain, William Wright of Los Angeles, Calif., and Glenn E. and Nancy Wright of Fair Oaks, Calif.; three sisters and a brother-in-law, Eunice W. Edwards and Josephine Wright of Jersey City, N.J., and Ruby W. and James Venable of Bayonne, N.J.; a uncle, Ozell Whitworth of Greensboro; a sister-in-law, Ophelia W. Watson of Bronx, N.Y.; eight grandsons; one great-grandson; and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins. The funeral will be Wednesday at 3 p.m. at Bynum Chapel A.M.E. Zion Church with Elder Stellie J. Jackson officiating. Burial will be in Mountain Rest Cemetery. The family will receive friends 30 minutes before the service at the church. J.W. Gill & Sons Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

SHELBY — Mrs. Louise “Dinah” Page Hammette Wease, 76, of P.O. Box 1143, formerly of Wease Drive, died Monday, April 1, 2002, at Rutherford Hospital. Born in Cleveland County, she was a daughter of the late David Jeff and Georgia Raye Glover Page. She retired from Belmont, Lily and Buffalo Mills, where she was a spinner. She was a Baptist. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Betty Page Camp; her first husband, Howard Hammette; her second husband, Robert Leroy Wease; and four brothers, Allie Page, Wilburn “Bang” Page, Burl Page and Bill Page. She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Ruby Hammette and Frank Bowling of Shelby; two grandsons and their wives, Russell and Jan Bowling of Greenwood, S.C., and Robert and Sharice Bowling of Boiling Springs; a granddaughter and her husband, Reaca and Darrell Gettys of Lincolnton; five great-grandchildren, Derek and Gina Bowling, Kristen Gettys, Eli and Erica Bowling. The funeral will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Cleveland Funeral Services, with the Rev. Mickey Heyward officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Cemetery. POLKVILLE — Mrs. Winifred “Freida” Smawley Allen, 83, of 4420 Mountain View Drive, died Saturday, March 30, 2002, at Cleveland Regional Medical Center. A native of Cleveland County, she was born Oct. 6, 1918, the daughter of the late, Isaac and Janie Turner Smawley. She was retired from PPG of Shelby. She was a member of Corinth Baptist Church in Casar and attended Word of Life Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Nollie Allen; a son, Stuart Allen; a daughter, Virginia Royster; two daughters-in-law, Linda Allen and Sylvia Allen; a sister, Beulah McNeely and three brothers, Morris Smawley, Dewitt Smawley and Earl Smawley. She is survived by three sons, Mitchell Allen of Sunshine, David Allen of Casar and Daniel Allen of Polkville; three sisters, Lavonia Harris of Lattimore, Lona Mae Hunt of Casar and Betty Short of Ellenboro; 15 grandchildren; and 30 great-grandchildren. The funeral will be Monday at 3 p.m. at Word of Life Baptist Church with the Revs. Calvin Morrison and Lloyd Hunt officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Memorial Park.
