IRON STATION — Mr. Elijah William Patterson, 65, of 5963 Tuckers Grove Church Road, died Sunday, March 31, 2002, at Lincoln Medical Center. The funeral will be Thursday at 3 p.m. at Tuckers Grove United Methodist Church with the Rev. Albert O. Perkins Sr. officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends 30 minutes before the service at the church. Ebony & White’s Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements.

Carl Rippy
ELLENBORO — Mr. Carl Billy Rippy, 92, of 1067 Walls Church Road, died Monday, April 1, 2002, at Rutherford Hospital. The funeral will be Thursday at 1 p.m. in the chapel of Crowe’s Funeral Home, Rutherfordton. Burial will be in Southern Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 8 at the funeral home.

Addie Stacy
HENRIETTA — Mrs. Addie McCombs Stacy, 77, died Thursday, April 4, 2002, at Rutherford Hospital. The funeral will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at McKinney-Landreth Funeral Home, Cliffside, with the Revs. Randy Caraway and Johnny Godair officiating. Burial will be in Corinth Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends one and half hours before the service at the funeral home and at other times at the home of Dannie Lee Gettys, 128 Brookmont Ave., Forest City.

Orville Myers
SHELBY — Mr. Orville Shay Myers, 89, of 1307 Hunt St., died Thursday, April 4, 2002, at his home. Funeral arrangements will be announced by Clay-Barnette Funeral Home.

Earleen Adams
CLOVER, S.C. — Ms. Earleen Adams, 83, of 608 Kings Mountain St., died Tuesday, April 2, 2002, at Gaston Memorial Hospital. The funeral will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at St. James United Methodist Church at 1930 Quarry Road in York, S.C. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday from 12:30 p.m. to 2 p.m. J.W. Gill and Sons Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

BOILING SPRINGS — Miss Alice Marie England, 95, of 239 E. College Ave., died Thursday, April 4, 2002, at Crawley Memorial Hospital. Funeral arrangements will be announced by Cecil M. Burton Funeral Home of Shelby.

‘O.B.’ Wine
BOILING SPRINGS — Mr. Oral B. “O.B.” Wine, 62, died Tuesday, April 2, 2002, at Cleveland Regional Medical Center. A native of Fairmont, W. Va., he was a son of the late Roma and Wilma Jo Moran Wine. He was employed at PPG Industries for 41 years in Washington state, Cumberland, Md., Perry, Ga., Wichita Falls, Texas, Harmorville, Pa., Clarksburg, W.Va., Mount Zion, Ill., and Shelby. He also served in the Navy. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Roma Wine and Joe Ray Wine. He is survived by his wife, Roberta Ruth Kittle Wine of Boiling Springs; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Rick Wine of Pittsburgh and Robert and Lisa Wine of Jonesville, S.C.; a daughter and son-in-law, Tammy and Donnie Corwell of Ridgeley, W.Va.; four grandchildren, Trey Corwell, Brittnee Corwell, Claire Wine and Spencer Wine; two stepgrandchildren, Hunter Youngblood and William Youngblood of Jonesville, S.C.; and a sister, Patty Eakles of Florida. The funeral will be today at 6 p.m. in the chapel of Cleveland Funeral Services with Dr. Jim Richardson officiating. Burial will be in Rest Lawn Memorial Garden in Cumberland, Md. The family will receive friends immediately following the service.

Murdoch Morrison
HICKORY — Mr. Murdoch Warren Morrison, 33, died Monday, April 1, 2002, at Frye Regional Medical Center. The funeral will be Friday at noon in the chapel of Bass-Smith Funeral Home. Burial will be in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends one hour before the service at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Humane Society of Western Piedmont, P.O. Mae Luckadoo
CASAR — Mrs. Mae Belle Powell Luckadoo, 86, formerly of Casar, died Tuesday, April 2, 2002, at Cleveland Pines Nursing Center. Born May 30, 1915, in Burke County, she was a daughter of the late John and Alice Huffman Powell. She was a homemaker and farmer. She was a charter member of Canaan Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John Grady Luckadoo; two sons, Andrew Luckadoo and Monroe Luckadoo; a daughter and son-in-law, Sarah and Gene Chapman; her foster parents, Jeff and Sarah Hull; and eight brothers. She is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, Eugene and Irene Luckadoo of Polkville and Steven and Derema Luckadoo and Myron and Nancy Luckadoo, all of Casar; three daughters and sons-in-law, Stella and Don Gettys of Polkville, Emily and John McKinney of Lincoln, Ga., and Juanita Fredell of Polkville; a daughter-in-law, Iris Luckadoo of Casar; 15 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren. The funeral will be Friday at 2 p.m. at Canaan Baptist Church with the Revs. Dennis Bailey and Van Proffitt and Evangelist Dean Cook officiating. The body will be placed in the church 30 minutes before the service. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 8 at Stamey Funeral Home and at other times at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Stella and Don Gettys, 5026 Casar Road, Polkville. Memorials may be made to Cleveland Pines Nursing Center, 1404 N. Lafayette St., Shelby, NC 28150; or to Gideon Memorial Bible Chairman, in care of Gideons International, P.O. Box 3304/595, Shelby, NC 28151.

Cleo Dean
GAFFNEY, S.C. — Mrs. Cleo Dean, 91, of 138 Stacy Drive, died Monday, April 1, 2002, at Upstate Carolinas Medical Center in Gaffney. Born in Lumber-ton, she was a daughter of the late James Forrest and Lula Spivey Alexander. She retired from Esther Mill and was a member of Eastside Baptist Church in Shelby. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Bonnie Bryant Dean; two brothers, Doug Alexander and Hoyle Alexander; a son, Horace Dean; a daughter, Ava Elease Dean Goode; one grandchild; and two great-grandchildren. She is survived by three daughters and two sons-in-law, Mary Lou Dean and Joe Anthony of Boiling Springs, Bonnie Sue Dean Putnam of Shelby and Margaret Ann Dean and Dale Williams of Gaffney, S.C.; two sisters, Margaret Lee Porter of Shelby and Mary Dorothy Vickers of Winchester, Va.; a brother, James Forrest Alexander of Coatesville, Pa.; eight grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. The funeral will be Thursday at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Clay-Barnette Funeral Home with the Rev. Ronnie Cox officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 8:30 at the funeral home and at other times at the home.

FOREST CITY — Mr. Frank Odell Burns, 83, of 718 Withrow Road, died Tuesday, April 2, 2002, at St. Luke’s Hospital. The funeral will be Thursday at 3 p.m. at Spindale Church of the Brethren with the Revs. Joe Rinehart and Perry Jones officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the church one hour before the service. Memorials may be made to Spindale Church of the Brethren, Midland Street, Spindale NC 28160. ROCK HILL, S.C. — Mrs. Jane Baucom Newton, 75, of 637 Oakwood Lane, died Sunday, March 31, 2002, at home. A memorial service will be today at 3 p.m. at Greene Funeral Home Northwest Chapel with Dr. William Pender and the Rev. Clint Newton officiating. Burial will be in Laurelwood Cemetery. The funeral will be Saturday at 3 p.m. at Providence Missionary Baptist Church with Pastor Billy Ramseur officiating. Burial will be in Hollybrook Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour before the service at the church. Ebony & White’s Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements.

Emily Hritz
KINGS MOUNTAIN — Mrs. Emily Kurowski Hritz, 86, of 114 South Oakwood Drive, died Monday, April 1, 2002, at her home. Born in Elsworth, Pa., she was a daughter of the late Roman and Kashmira Demski Kurowski. She was a homemaker and a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph J. Hritz; and a daughter, Jeanne Hritz. She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Jo Ann and Tom Loesch of Medina, Ohio, and Gayle and Jim Niskala of Kings Mountain; a sister, Helen Grasso of Maple Heights, Ohio; five grandchildren, Becky Loesch of Akron, Ohio, Tom Loesch and Beth Loesch, both of Medina, Jodi Morgan and her husband, Joe, of Shelby, Jim Niskala and his wife, Lee, of High Shoals; and six great-grandchildren, Dexter Niskala of High Shoals, Spec. Justin Loesch of Fort Bragg, Georgie Miller of Akron and Emily, Hill and Grady Morgan, all of Shelby. The funeral is today at 11 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with Father Eric Houseknecht officiating. Burial will be in Cleveland Memorial Park. The family received friends Tuesday at Cecil M. Burton Funeral Home and at other times will be at the home. Memorials may be made to St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 818 McGowan Road, Shelby, NC 28150.

Charles Hamrick
CONCORD, Calif. — Charles Ray Hamrick, 65, formerly of Shelby, died Tuesday, April 2, 2002, at John Muir Medical Center in Walnut Creek. He was preceded in death by his father, Maynard Hamrick. He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Linda Shreiber Hamrick; his mother, Mrs. Maynard Hamrick of Shelby; one daughter and son-in-law, Candy and Lew Dunn; and one grandson, Charlie Baldwin of Lakeport, Calif.; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Carolyn and Bob Greene and Doris and Charles Dedmon, all of Shelby; four brothers and one sister-in-law, Hershel and Carolyn Hamrick of Belmont, Noris Hamrick and Larry Hamrick, both of Shelby, and Dale Hamrick of Pittsburg, Calif.; and a number of nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at Memory Gardens Cemetery, Concord, with Richard W. Howell, minister of the Church of Christ, officiating. The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Ouimet Bros. Concord Funeral Chapel, 4125 Clayton Road.
