FOREST CITY — Mr. Albert Zeke Conner, 63, of 115 Angels Drive, died Friday, April 12, 2002, at his home. A memorial service will be Sunday at 7 p.m. at Crowe’s Funeral Home with the Rev. Tom Calton officiating. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Rutherford County, P.O. Box 336, Forest City, NC 28043.

LAWNDALE — Mrs. Minnie Lee “Frances” Boykins Davis, 64, of 142 Falls Road died Friday, April 12, 2002, at Cleveland Regional Medical Center. Funeral arrangements will be announced by Enloe Mortuary.

Marie Stanley
SHELBY — Mrs. Marie Louise Jones Stanley, 89, of White Oak Manor, formerly of 797 Westview St., died Wednesday, April 10, 2002, at White Oak Manor in Shelby. Born in Cherokee County, S.C., she was a daughter of the late Victor Von and Velle Emma Blanton Jones. She retired after 30 years of service at Dover Mill. She was a member of Dover Baptist Church and was active in WMU, and sang in the choir for 55 years. She taught the Intermediate Girls and Ruth Sunday School classes for 45 years. She loved to work in her flower garden. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, Arvol “Nick” Stanley; and four brothers, Garland, Malcomb, Howard and Gene Jones. She is survived by two sons and a daughter-in-law, Ronald L. Stanley of Mountain View, Ark., and Kenneth A. and Suzanne Stanley of Thousand Oaks, Calif.; a daughter and son-in-law, Joyce and Richard Morgan of Shelby; a brother, Bobby Jones of Smyrna, S.C.; a sister, Evelyn J. Walker of Cherryville; two sisters-in-law, Vera Jones of Cherryville and Ocie Jones of Great Falls, S.C.; six grandchildren and their spouses, Judy M. and Barry Wright of Lake Bowen, S.C., Sherri M. and Zeb Beam III of Shelby, Rick and Georgann Morgan of Waco, Michael and Jennifer Stanley of Burbank, Calif., Nicole Stanley of Thousand Oaks, Calif., and Lisa Stanley of San Diego, Calif.; and five great-grandchildren, Ashley and Lance Wright, Morgan and Zee Beam, Emily Clary and her husband, Wesley. The funeral will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Dover Baptist Church with Dr. Robert Lamb and the Rev. Ervin Price officiating. The body will lie in state 30 minutes before the service at the church. Burial will be in Cleveland Memorial Park. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 7:30 at Cecil M. Burton Funeral Home and at other times at the home of Joyce and Richard Morgan, 1328 Crestview Drive, Shelby. Memorials may be made to Dover Baptist Church Building Fund, 1501 Polkville Road, Shelby, NC 28150.

Etheleen Bartee
FOREST CITY — Mrs. Etheleen Brooks Bartee, 82, died Wednesday, April 10, 2002, at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem. The funeral will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Harrelson Funeral Home with Drs. Gary McCollough and Norman Hubbard officiating. Burial will be in Oak Grove United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at the funeral home.

‘Doe’ McSwain
KINGS MOUNTAIN — Mr. Woodrow “Doe” McSwain, 83, of 101 Tara Terrace, died Thursday, April 11, 2002, at Cleveland Regional Medical Center. Born in Cleveland County, he was a son of the late Hugh Karr and Minnie Smith McSwain. He retired from Shaw Industries of Norfolk, Va., and was a member of American Legion Post 155 in Kings Mountain. He also served in the Army during World War II. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Nell Wells McSwain; a son, David Whitney McSwain; and four brothers, Ralph, Thad, Jim and Jack McSwain. He is survived by three sons and a daughter-in-law, Don and Rachael McSwain of Shelby, James Woodrow McSwain of Lake Lure and Larry Joe McSwain of Charleston, S.C.; a daughter and son-in-law, Nancy Jane and Murray Rearick of South Bend, Ind.; a sister, Nancy M. Bonsall of Bedford, Pa.; nine grandchildren, Deborah Ann Gregory, David Eugene McSwain, Terri Lynn Kiss, Virginia Lynn Lawson, Steven Thomas McSwain, Allen Cahoon, Suzanne Zultanski, John P. Rearick and Teresa Carr; and seven great-grandchildren, Jason Cahoon, Dustin, Shane and Gage Zultanski, Rachel and David Gregory and Trey Lawson. The funeral will be Saturday at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Cecil M. Burton Funeral Home. Burial will be in Sunset Cemetery with military honors. The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 8:30 at the funeral home and at other times at the home of his son and daughter-in-law, Don and Rachael McSwain, 1005 Sumter St., Shelby.

‘Arnie’ Mildenberger
SHELBY — Mr. Arnold Alvin “Arnie” Mildenberger, 70, of 110 Thompson St., died Thursday, April 11, 2002, at Carolinas Medical Center. Funeral arrangements will be announced by Cleveland Funeral Services.

Rosetta York
HICKORY — Mrs. Rosetta Rochester York, 86, of 17th Ave., N.E., died Wednesday, April 10, 2002, at home. Born July 23, 1915, in Banks County, Ga., she was a daughter of the late William McKinley and Jane Elizabeth Cunningham Rochester. She retired from Hickory Chair Co. and was a member of Spencer Road Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Grady William York; a sister, Beatrice Chandler; and two brothers, Howard Rochester and Paul Rochester. She is survived by four daughters, Laura Naomi Canipe, Geraldine Beaver, Dorothy Ayleen Shook, all of Hickory, and Hazel Mae Jones of Conover; two sons, Pastor Ray York of Hickory and William McKinley York of Shelby; a sister, Mae Pasaour of Gastonia; 18 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren; and 16 great-great-grandchildren. The funeral will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Spencer Road Baptist Church with Pastors Rick Fox and Tim Jones officiating. Burial will be in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 8:30 at Hickory Funeral Home.

Blanche Hughes
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Mrs. Blanche Hughes, 59, of 7921 Oriole St., Apt. 803, died Monday, April 8, 2002, in Jacksonville. The funeral will be Monday at 2 p.m. at Genesis Funeral Chapel. Burial will follow in Webb Lawns. The family will receive friends 30 minutes before the service at the chapel and other times at the home of her sister, Patricia Hutley, on Orange Street in Shelby.

‘A.C.’ Lee Sr.
SHELBY — Mr. Albert Charles “A.C.” Lee Sr., 66, of 613 Dekalb St., died Wednesday, April 10, 2002, at Cleveland Regional Medical Center. The funeral will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Hoppers Chapel Baptist Church with the Rev. Wade Wallace officiating. Burial will follow in Webb Lawns. The family will receive friends 30 minutes before the service at the church. Genesis Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements.

Delores Scruggs
FOREST CITY — Mrs. Wilma Delores Summers Scruggs, 78, of Hillcrest Drive, died Wednesday, April 10, 2002, at Cleveland Regional Medical Center. The funeral will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at Florence Baptist Church with Dr. Bobby Gantt officiating. Burial will be in Goode’s Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 6:30 to 8:30 at The Padgett & King Mortuary.

William Bolin
SHELBY — Mr. William P. Bolin, 76, of 3057 Dravo Road, died Thursday, April 11, 2002, at Hospice of Cleveland County. Born in Cherokee, S.C., he was a son of the late Robert and Flossie Jane Humphries Bolin. He retired from Glenn’s Forest Products and attended Faith Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sons, John Bolin and Steven Bolin; and two brothers, Walter Bolin and Sam Bolin. He is survived by his wife, Leona Turner Bolin of Shelby; two daughters, Jane Bolin and Nettie Mullinax, both of Shelby; three sons, Robert Bolin of Blacksburg, S.C., Dean Bolin and Jimmy Bolin, both of Shelby; two brothers, John Bolin of Shelby and James Bolin of Chesnee, S.C.; and five grandchildren. The funeral will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at Faith Baptist Church with the Revs. Johnny Owens, Rocky Shelton, Jerry Allen and Barry Goodman officiating. Burial will be in Cook Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 7:30 at Cleveland Funeral Services and at other times at the home.

‘Jimmy’ Blanton
SHELBY — Mr. James Sidney “Jimmy” Blanton, 84, died Tuesday, April 9, 2002, at Cleveland Regional Medical Center. Born in Cleveland County, he was a son of the late W. Hershall and Darfer Hamrick Blanton. He retired as a cabinetmaker and carpenter. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Shelby, Fred Flowers Sunday School Class and the VFW. He was an Army Air Corps veteran of World War II. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Ruth Walker Blanton; and two sisters, Lib Bethea and Katherine Washburn. He is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Cindy B. and Tommy Melton of Shelby; a sister, Hazel Blanton of Shelby; and two grandchildren, Rodney and Jeffrey Melton. The funeral will be today at 6 p.m. in the chapel of Cecil M. Burton Funeral Home with the Rev. Glenn Walker and Dr. Tony Tench officiating. Burial will be in Cleveland Memorial Park with full military honors. The family will receive friends one hour before the service at the funeral home and at other times at the home of his daughter and son-in-law, Cindy and Tommy Melton, 860 Greenbrook Road, Shelby. Memorials may be made to The Hands on Mission, P.O. Box 249, Shelby, NC 28151; or to First Baptist Church, 120 N. Lafayette St., Shelby, NC 28151.

Earl Bridges
FOREST CITY — Mr. Earl Bridges, 61, of Bob Rollins Road, died Tuesday, April 9, 2002, at Rutherford Hospital. The funeral will be Friday at 2 p.m. in the chapel of McKinney-Landreth Funeral Home, Cliffside, with the Revs. Ad Hopper and Ricky Poteat officiating. Burial will be in Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery in Ellenboro. The family will be at the home of Nellie Powell, 148 Baldwin St., Ellenboro.

Marie Stanley
SHELBY — Marie Jones Stanley, 89, a resident of White Oak Manor for nine years, formerly of 797 Westview St., died Wednesday, April 10, 2002, at her residence. The family will be at the home of Richard and Joyce Morgan at 1328 Crestview Drive in Shelby. Funeral arrangements will be announced by Cecil M. Burton Funeral Home.

Annie Henson
SHELBY — Mrs. Annie Henson, 99, of 1016 Buffalo St., died Tuesday, April 9, 2002, at Cleveland Regional Medical Center. Born July 24, 1902, in Anderson County, S.C., she was a daughter of the late Enoch and Addie Flemming Loyd. She was a retired textile worker from J.P. Stevens. She was the oldest member of Royster Avenue Church of God. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, W.R. Henson; a daughter, Celeste Gryder; five brothers; and four sisters. She is survived by three daughters and sons-in-law, Bobbie and Tom Childers and Bonnie Childers, all of Shelby, and Helen and the Rev. G.A. McCurry of Asheville; three grandchildren and their spouses, Terry and Jeannie Childers of Denton, Ron and Marina Childers of San Bernardino, Calif., and Adrain and Sandy McCurry of Lineville, Ala.; four great-grandchildren and their spouses, Lewis and Ginger Childers, Terry Childers Jr., Kelly and Bobby Rauf and Brittany Childers; and a number of nieces and nephews. The funeral will be tonight at 7 at Royster Avenue Church of God with the Rev. Richard Shores officiating. Burial will be Friday in Rock Creek Baptist Church Cemetery in Toccoa, Ga. The family will receive friends one and a half hours before the service at the church and at other times at the home. Clay-Barnette Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
