He was employed at Cone Mills, Cliffside Plant, and was a member of Boiling Springs Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, Roy C. and Lucille Alexandria Terry. He is survived by his wife, Nancy Lee Beason Terry of the home; two sons, Kenneth Chad Terry of Boiling Springs, Kenneth Roy Terry Jr. of Rutherfordton; a stepson and his wife, Jonathan and Heather Greene of Boiling Springs; two daughters and a son-in-law, Angie C. Terry and Nolan Lee of Rutherfordton, Carlos C. Terry Blackburn and friend, Mike, of Forest City; a stepdaughter, Angie Greene and Billy Guffey of Polkville; three brothers, Billy and Pat Terry of Roebuck, S.C., Joyce Arthur Terry of Ellenboro and Charles Thomas Terry of Mooresboro; three sisters and a brother-in-law, Dot Terry Cox of Ellenboro; Jo Ann Davis of Rutherfordton and Peggy and Bill Blanton of Ellenboro; 11 grandchildren, James Whiteside, Bodie and Hunter Lee, Dylan and Manley Blackburn, Timothy Hollers, Thomas G. and Taylor L. Guffey, Meagan A. and Macie E. Greene and Kenyun Terry. The funeral will today at 3 p.m. in the chapel of Cecil M. Burton Funeral Home with Dr. Carroll Page officiating. FOREST CITY — The Rev. George Washington Whitmire, 69, of U.S. 221-A, Forest City, died Friday, April 19, 2002, at Cleveland Regional Medical Center. A native of Transylvania County, he was the son of the late Thomas Davis and Alice McKinney Whitmire. He was a self-employed roofer and pastor of Village Chapel Church. He is survived by his wife, Martha Jane Dyer Whitmire of the home; five sons, the Rev. George M. Whitmire of Bostic, Jabo Whitmire of Dobbinsville, Freddie Whitmire and Thomas Whitmire, both of Forest City, and Bobby Whitmire of Ellenboro; five daughters, Nancy Dyer and Carrie Melton, both of Bostic, Alice Gaulin of Hampton, N.H., Karen Bennett of Forest City and Febie Keever of Rutherfordton; two brothers, J.B. Whitmire of Rosman and Vernon Whitmire of Fountain, Colo.; three sisters, Louise Alley of Mooresboro, Hazel McCall of Mauldin, S.C., and Ruby Brewer of Rosman; 19 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. She was retired from Gibbs Mazda and Volkswagon where she was a secretary and receptionist. She was a member of Putnam Memorial Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, Dewey F. and Susie Robertson Adams, and a granddaughter, Kimberly Small. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Wayne and Kathy Small of Shelby; a daughter and son-in-law. Tina and Jimmy Hadden of Charleston, S.C.; a sister, Doris Stine of Waynesboro, Pa.; an aunt who reared her, Eva Reamy of Columbia; five grandchildren and their spouses, Jonathan and Tabatha Quiensberry, Tonja and Steve Homa, Stanley Wayne Small Jr., Kenneth Small and Michael Small; and three great-grandchildren, Seth Quiensberry, Hunter Homa and Hannah Homa. LINCOLNTON — Mr. Ralph Hoyt Wise, 78, of 3890 West N.C. 27, died Thursday, April 18, 2002, at Cardinal Health Care. Born April 3, 1924, in Lincoln County, he was the son of the late George and Minnie Wise. He was a charter member and former fire chief of the Howards Creek Volunteer Fire Department and was also a farmer. He served in the Army during World War II. He is survived by his wife, Nellie Seagle Wise of the home; a son, Tom Wise of Shelby; a daughter, Rita W. Sharpe of Ellenboro; four grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. The funeral will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at Daniels Lutheran Church with Pastor William J. Born Sept. 12, 1942, in Cleveland County, he was a son of the late Carmie Marshall and Lillie Mae Newton Willis. He retired from the furniture industry and was a member of Norman’s Grove Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his stepmother, Moma Myra Blanton Willis. He is survived by a son, Ricky Ray Willis of Tuscaloosa, Ala.; a daughter, Kimberly Hope Willis of Hickory; a brother, Clyde Willis and his wife, Mary, of Shelby; four sisters, Christine McMurry and her husband, James, of Polkville, Sue Pittman and her husband, Russell, of Hickory, Mary Hollis of Raleigh and Mildred McMurry and her husband, Dale, of Polkville; three grandchildren, Cherokee Tanner Girty, Ashlee R.
