Coy Kenneth Hatley
(November 16, 1921 - September 22, 2011)

Coy Kenneth Hatley, 89, of 66 Kentucky Ave Concord, passed away on September 22, 2011 at Carebridge Assisted Living, Mt. Pleasant.

He was born on November 16, 1921 in Stanly County to the late Charles C. Hatley and Ethel Almond Hatley.

He was also preceded in death by his wife Helen Kathleen Wetter Hatley in 2001.

Mr. Hatley was a loom fixer at Cannon Mills and was a member of Friendship United Methodist Church.

The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 A.M. at Hartsell Funeral Home of Concord on Saturday, September 24th, 2011.

The graveside service will follow at 11:30 A.M. at Friendship United Methodist Church in Mt. Pleasant, with Pastor Dale Bost officiating.

Mr. Hatley is survived by: sons, Dennis Hatley of Concord, Terry Hatley of Hendersonville; brother Charles Hatley, Jr; sisters, Lois Hinson, Callie Barrier, Georgie Wetter; grandchildren Mindy Hatley Campbell, Gavin Blake Hatley; and seven great grandchildren.

Swann McClure
(February 14, 1925 - September 27, 2011)

Swann McClure, 86, of 144 Madison Avenue NE Concord formerly of Waynesville passed away on Tuesday, September 27, 2011 at his home.

He was born on February 14, 1925 in Haywood County, NC to the late Lucius Gaither and Omie Rhinehart McClure.

He was youngest of nine children, having four deceased brothers and three deceased sisters.

Swann joined the US Navy April 21, 1943.

Swann served in the Navy during WW II. He was a member of Cross View Baptist Church.

A visitation will be held at Hartsell Funeral Home in Concord on Wednesday, September 28th from 6 until 8 PM.

Funeral services will be held at Hartsell Funeral Home Concord chapel on Thursday, September 29th at 11 AM, with Rev. Brandon King officiating.

Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park in Kannapolis.

He is survived by his wife, Ruby McClure of the home; daughters, Hazel Robinson and husband Barry, Ruth Burleson and husband Shearon, and Kathy Howell and husband Keith all of Concord; sons, Swann McClure and wife Shay of Concord, Dennis McClure and wife Kim of Kannapolis, Bobby McClure and wife Celeste of Concord, and Brandon McClure and wife Katie of Concord seventeen grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; sister Launa McClure Jones.

Memorials may be made to Crossview Baptist Church PO Box 905 Harrisburg, NC 28075.

Lucille Cody Nance
(December 19, 1919 - September 30, 2011)

Lucille Cody Nance of 20283 NC 73 Hwy. in Albemarle, died at her son’s home on September 30, 2011, after a two-year battle with multiple myeloma.

She was born at her parents’ home December 19, 1919 in Albemarle, the daughter of the late Pierce Monroe and Grace Hatley Cody.

She graduated from Millingport High School in 1939 where she was the captain of the state-winning girls’ basketball team.

She married James H. Nance, Sr. (Buck) April 4, 1942, and raised their two sons with him.

Her career included working with her husband at his businesses, Stanly Electric Company and Albemarle Electric Supply.

After his retirement, she worked at Belk in Albemarle.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, her brothers Rev. Ray Cody of Concord, NC, Wilbert (Bill) Cody of Albemarle, NC, and one sister, Myrtle Cody Allen of Georgia.

Survivors include her two sons, James H. Nance, Jr. (Jim) and his wife Anne; Jeffrey Cody Nance and wife Cathy all of Albemarle; five grandchildren, Amie Nance Koporc of Roswell, GA., and Lt. Col. (retired) James H. Nance, III (Rusty) of Hope Mills, NC, Stacey L. Nance of Apex, NC, Brittany N. McGee of Salisbury, NC, and Jodie C. Nance of Albemarle, NC, and five great-grandchildren.

She is survived by two sisters, Jewell Cody Medlin of Arlington, VA, and Mary Frances Cody Harris of Alexandria, VA.

She also leaves two special friends, Mr. and Mrs. Albert Gubay of the Isle of Man, UK, where Lucille and her husband spent fourteen straight summers.

Her funeral will be held Monday, October 3, 2011, 11:00 a.m. at Salem United Methodist Church 21007 NC 73 Hwy in Albemarle.

The Rev. Jacqueline Tookey will officiate.

Burial in the church cemetery will follow the service.

The family will receive friends at Hartsell Funeral Home Sunday evening, October 2, 2011, from 5:00-7:00 p.m.

At other times the family will be at the home of her son, Jim, at 16473 NC 73 Hwy. Albemarle, NC.

Memorials may be made to the Salem Church Building and Repair Fund, 21007 NC 73 Hwy., Albemarle, NC 28001.

June Davenport Pigg
(September 16, 1931 - October 8, 2011)

Mrs. June Starr Davenport Pigg passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 8th, 2011, at Carolinas Medical Center-NorthEast in Concord, NC.

June, a devoted wife, mother, sister and aunt was born on September 16, 1931 in Johnson City, TN.

She was raised in Eastern North Carolina and Virginia before moving to Charlotte in her teens.

She attended Wingate College where she met her husband, Myron Pigg.

Myron and June were married on December 16, 1951 and resided in Matthews and Charlotte before moving to Midland in 1992.

She enjoyed raising her Boston Terriers, over the years, as well as her numerous “road trips” with her close friend, Marie Correll.

June will be missed by the many family and friends that love her.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Myron; an infant son, Danny Hugh Pigg; her mother, Lonia Davenport; her father, Andrew Davenport; and her sister, Chloe Wilson.

June is survived by her daughter, Miriam Caraway of Midland; son and daughter-in-law, Lee and Annette Pigg of Indian Trail; nephew, Wyman Wilson and family of Concord; and half-brother and sister-in-law Andy and Susan Davenport of Mebane, NC.

The family will receive friends from 7 – 9 p.m. on Wednesday, October 12, 2011, at Hartsell Funeral Home of Midland.

A funeral service to celebrate her life will be held at Hartsell Funeral Home Chapel of Midland at 11 a.m. on Thursday, October 13, 2011.

At other times, the family will meet at her home.

Memorials may be made to the Baptist Children’s Home of N. C., P. O. Box 338, Thomasville, NC 27361 or The Masonic Home for Children at Oxford, 600 College St., Oxford, NC 27565.

Glen David Roberson
(October 14, 1941 - September 26, 2011)

Glen David Roberson, age 69 of Albemarle, passed away on September 26, 2011at CMC-Main, Charlotte, NC.

The family will receive friends at Hartsell Funeral Home on Thursday, September 29, 2011 from 12pm until 2pm.

The funeral service will follow at 2pm in the Hartsell Funeral Home chapel, officiated by Pastor Stoney Benfield.

The burial will be at Stanly Gardens of Memory.

At other times, the family will meet at the home of of his daughter, Angie Davis, 413 Woodcrest Lane, Albemarle.

Mr. Roberson was born in Stanly County on October 14, 1941, to the late Robert Lee and Minnie Marie Sparks Roberson.

He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Carolyn Sue “Susie” Morgan Roberson, of the home; daughter, Angie Davis and husband Kenny of Albemarle; grandchildren, Joseph Blalock, Taylor Blalock and Conner Blalock of Albemarle; brothers, Reid Roberson and Sam Roberson both of Albemarle; sisters, Maxine Curlee of Albemarle and Marie Misenheimer of Richfield.

Mr. Roberson was a member of Trinity Baptist Church of Albemarle and was employed by Collins & Aikman as a fixer for 46 years.

Hartsell Funeral Home of Albemarle is serving the Roberson family.
