Raleigh, NC: Mr. Douglas Arthur Dupree, age 72, of 2761 New Bold St. died Saturday. Funeral services will be 11:00AM Wednesday at Middle Creek Primitive Baptist Church, Willow Spring. Officiating will be Elder Danny Carroll. Burial will follow in the Church Cemetery.
Mr. Dupree was born June 16, 1934 in Johnston County to the late Ervin and Ethel Jones Dupree. Mr. Dupree was preceded in death by his wife, Irene McCall Dupree. He was self-employed in the property management business. Mr. Dupree was a member of Middle Creek Primitive Baptist Church.
Survivors include Sons & Daughter-in-Law, Craig & Deborah Dupree of Raleigh, and Gary L. Dupree of Raleigh; Brothers, Richard Dupree and Robert Dupree both of Willow Spring; Sister, Lois D. Lawhorn of Willow Spring; Four Grandchildren & Spouse, Jessica & Robert Ferguson, Emily Dupree, Sagan Dupree, and Bodhi Dupree; Two Great Grandchildren, Lydia Ferguson and Miles Ferguson.
Family will receive friends at Rose & Graham Funeral Home in Benson Tuesday from 7:00PM to 9:00PM and other times at the home of Craig & Deborah Dupree, 5221 Leiden Lane, Raleigh, NC 27606.
Mrs. Thelma Parrish Johnson

Coats, NC: Thelma Parrish Johnson, 94, of Campo, California, formerly of Coats, died Mar. 30, 2007 at a Hospice in La Mesa, California from a combination of Alzheimer’s and Diabetic complications.
Thelma was a native of Harnett County NC and the Coats area. She was born May 6th, 1912 to Zola and Carlie Parrish of Coats. She and her husband, Garland Johnson, raised four children on their farm near her ancestral home near Coats. She was an accomplished seamstress and did work for many people over a wide area until her move to Calif. at age 88.
The funeral services will be held 11:00AM Thursday, April 5 at Coats Baptist Church. Rev. Jesse Mooney will officiate Burial will follow at the Coats City Cemetery.
Survivors include three children, Larry Johnson and wife Arvilla of Campo, Calif., Rebecca Miller and husband Harlan of Danville, Calif., and Carmen Creech and husband Charles of Zebulan, NC. She has five Grandchildren; Sheryl, JC, Dale, Ron and Terry and eight Great-grandchildren; Amanda, Dan, Jorden, Erin, Gulliana, Shannon, Clark and Nicole scattered across New Hampshire, North Carolina, Arizona and California. She also has 3 surviving sisters.
Family will receive friends at the Coats Baptist Church from 10:00AM to 10:45AM Thursday prior to the service.

Dunn, NC: Mrs. Merle Johnson Matthews, age 92, of Dunn died Monday at Betsy Johnson Regional Hospital in Dunn. Funeral services will be 4:30PM Wednesday at Rose & Graham Funeral Home Chapel in Benson. Revs. Glenn McCullen and Gary Buffkin will officiate. Burial will follow in Roselawn Cemetery.
Mrs. Matthews was born on June 17, 1914 in Johnston County to the late Matt R. and Anna Woodall Johnson. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Tothrow Matthew; a son, Gayle Matthews; Sisters, Juanita Neighbors, Ociadelle Barbour, and Tera Reaves; and Brothers, Fred Johnson, Lamar Johnson, Obid Johnson. She was a homemaker and a member of Benson Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church.
Survivors include Sisters, Lorraine Buffkin of Broadway and Lou J. Simmons of Wilson; Sister in Law, Lalon Johnson of Dunn; and Several Nieces and Nephews.
The family will receive friends at Rose & Graham Funeral Home in Benson from 3:00 to 4:00 PM Wednesday prior to the service.

Mrs. Louettie Massengill Bonner

Benson, NC: Mrs. Louettie Massengill Bonner, age 73, died Sunday at Liberty Commons in Benson. Funeral Services will be 2:00PM Wednesday at Benson United Methodist Church. Officiating will be Revs. Ron Patten and Billy Nowell. Burial will follow in Banner Chapel Church Cemetery.
Mrs. Bonner was born on February 27, 1934 in Johnston County to the late Lonnie and Bertie Allen Massengill. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Richard F. Bonner. Mrs. Bonner was a member of the Benson United Methodist Church and was the owner and operator of a convenience store.
Survivors include Daughters, Evelyn B. Aranda and Dale B. Hinman, both of Benson; Son, Richard Randall Bonner of Middlesex; Sisters, Hester Lawhorn of Princeton, Bessie Johnson of Fayetteville, and Katie Mitchell of LaGrange; and Grandchildren, Bryan Bonner, Tiffany Bonner, Katina Galindo, Jenna Hinman, Joshua Aranda and Caleb Aranda.
Family will receive friends at Rose & Graham Funeral Home in Benson Tuesday from 7:00PM to 9:00PM and other times at the home of Dale Hinman, 305 S. Lee Street, Benson.

Mr. E. Raeford Parrish

Angier, NC: Mr. E. Raeford Parrish, age 85, of 17031 NC 210 Hwy, died Thursday. Funeral services will be 11:00AM Saturday at Rose & Graham Funeral Home Chapel in Benson. Burial will follow in the Providence Presbyterian Church Cemetery, Angier with Masonic Rites.
Mr. Parrish was born on December 7, 1921 in Harnett County to the late Eddie Lester and Ethel Langdon Parrish. He was a retired Chief Building Inspector for the city of Raleigh. He was a member of Angier Masonic Lodge 686, Scottish Rite Mason and a member of Amran Shrines. Mr. Parrish was a veteran of WW II and a member of American Legion Banner Post 109 in Benson. He was also a member of Providence Presbyterian Church. Mr. Parrish was preceded in death by his wife, Macy S. Parrish, twin brother J. Rupert Parrish, sisters, Thelma Mason and Audrey Burtchette.
Survivors include Daughters and Sons-In-Law, Raye P. & Jack Miklas of Angier, Joy P. & Rodney Johnson of Elizabeth City, and Ginger S. Parrish of Elizabeth City; Sisters, Rebeth Mitchell & Joyce Carter both of Angier, and Marva Whittington of Garner; Granddaughters, Jessica J. Johnson & Wendy B. Johnson; and Great-Grandson, Dylan B. Jordan.; Special Cousin, Melvin Parrish of Newport News, VA, and Special Friend, Louisa Wilkins of Oxford.

Mrs. Linda Williams Mangum

Pine Level: Mrs. Linda Williams Mangum, age 61, of 109 S. Fitzgerald Street, formally from the Angier-Coats area, died Monday at UNC Hospital in Chapel Hill. Graveside funeral service will be held Thursday at 2:00PM in the Price Cemetery in Pine Level. Officiating will be Rev. Tim Batten.
Mrs. Mangum was born on May 12, 1945 in Harnett County to the late John H. & Bertha Carter Williams. She was also preceded in death by a Sister, Helen Barnes, and a Brother, C. L. Williams. Mrs. Mangum was a retired hairdresser and worked with Wal-Mart in Smithfield.
Surviving are Daughters & Sons-in-Law, Gina & Jimmy Garner of Pine Level and Kristie & Chris Daniels of Selma; Three Grandchildren, Trevor Bryant, Meagan Daniels, and Mackenzie Garner; Sisters & Brothers-in-Law, Patty & Don Godwin of Benson, Inez & John Krause of Winston-Salem, Leola Dykes of Angier, and Geraldine Habe of Kinston; and Brother & Sister-in-Law, Connie Ray & Ferebee Williams of Henderson.

Four Oaks – Ms. Mozelle Lee, age 86, of 1032 Kenan Rd, died Monday evening at her home. Funeral Services will be 3:00 PM Wednesday at Rose and Graham Funeral Home Chapel. Officiating will be Rev. Pat Williford. Burial will follow in Johnson Family Cemetery, Four Oaks.
Ms. Lee was born October 13, 1920 in Johnston County, to the late James Radford and Bytha Johnson Lee. She was also preceded in death by two children raised by her Maxine Myers, Janice Faye Morgan; Brothers, Neville Lee, Howard Lee, J.C. Lee; Sisters, Louise Lee, Lucille Lee Johnson, Mabel Lee; and a Infant Baby Lee. Ms. Lee worked on the assembly line for Carolina Packers and a cook at Holts Lake BBQ and Seafood.
Survivors include a Sister, Blanche Briley of Norfolk, Va; Child raised by Ms. Lee, Gary Lee Dunn of Four Oaks; Granny’s Grandchildren & Spouses, Anthony and Lori Morgan of Four Oaks, Michele Morgan of Four Oaks, Michael and Stephanie Morgan of Four Oaks, Kimberly and B.J. Odom of Four Oaks; Granny’s Great Grandchildren, Brandi Morgan, Jessica Dunn, Brittany Dunn, Cody Morgan, and Dylan Odom; Several Nieces and Nephews.

Ms. Sylvia Gail Davis

Coats, NC: Ms. Sylvia Gail Davis, age 57, of 400 S. Lincoln Street, died Saturday. A Memorial Service was held at Rose & Graham Funeral Chapel in Coats.
Ms. Davis was born on August 16, 1949 in Cumberland County to the late Robert & Virginia Collins Davis. She was a home health nurse.
Surviving are: Sons, Kevin Blanchard of Coats and Marty Blanchard of Angier & Four Grandchildren.
Lee Craig Biggar
February 1, 1949 – March 16, 2007
Surf City: Lee Craig Biggar passed away from this life at his residence on Friday, March 16, 2007. Lee is survived by his wife, Dorothy M. Carpenter of Surf City, North Carolina, the daughter he adored, Allison M. Biggar of Los Angeles, California, Stepdaughters, Mandy and Samantha Lumpkins of Wilmington, North Carolina and his loyal dog, Chelsea. Other survivors include Lee’s Aunt, Dorothy L. Summers of Tucson, Arizona and the Kratochvil family of Brookings, South Dakota along with many friends who will miss him tremendously.
A graduate of UNC Chapel Hill, Lee was a giant Tarheel fan. Lee obtained his law degree from North Carolina Central University. As a North Carolina General Contractor, Lee has built houses in Chapel Hill and on Topsail Island, North Carolina. He loved boating, fishing, hunting, photography, reading, motorcycling and especially his friends and family.
A Celebration of Life Ceremony will be held on Saturday, March 24, 2007 at 1:00 p.m. at Emma Anderson Memorial Chapel in Topsail Beach, North Carolina.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that a donation be made in Lee’s name to the Lower Cape Fear Hospice Center, 725-A Wellington Avenue, Wilmington, NC 28401.
Mrs. Jean Norris Whittenton

Dunn, NC: Mrs. Jean Norris Whittenton, age 72, of 118 Brandywood Drive died Sunday at Britthaven of Dunn. Funeral Services will be 11:00AM Wednesday at Glad Tidings Church. Officiating will be Revs. Tim Rice and Bob Gruver. Entombment will follow in Harnett Devotional Gardens.
Mrs. Whittenton was born on June 4, 1934 in Harnett County to the late Willy Earl and Vada Tew Norris. She was also preceded in death by her husband, David O. Whittenton, Sr. Mrs. Whittenton was a member of Glad Tidings Church and was the office manager of Harnett Devotional Gardens.
Survivors include Daughter, Sheila Whittenton of Dunn; Son, David Whittenton, Jr., and Wife, Ginger; Grandchildren, Bryan Whittenton and Dare Whittenton; and Several Nieces and Nephews.
