Mrs. Margaret Lassiter Medlin

May 10, 2007

Benson – Mrs. Margaret Lassiter Medlin, 84, of 220 W. Hill Street died Thursday Morning at Duke Raleigh Hospital. Graveside Funeral services will be held 2:00PM Sunday in the chapel of Roselawn Community Mausoleum. Rev. Robert Owens will officiate. Entombment will follow in the Mausoleum.

Mrs. Medlin was born August 12, 1922 in Johnston County to the late Seth Woodall & Pearl Edwards Lassiter. She was a retired Johnston County Teacher and a Librarian. Mrs. Medlin was a member of Benson Presbyterian Church.

Survivors include husband of 60 years, Harold Medlin, Sons & Daughters-in-law, Scott & Julie Medlin of Benson and Harold “Hal” & Corine Medlin of Benson and a niece, Margaret Anne Malone of Warsaw. She was preceded in death in addition to her parents, Grandson, Kenneth Harold “Scotty” Medlin, and a sister, Doris L. Vincent.

The family will receive friends at Rose & Graham Funeral Home in Benson 6:00PM to 8:00PM Saturday.

Memorials may be made to the Boys & Girls Home of North Carolina, P.O. Box 127, Lake Waccamaw, NC, 28450 or to ones favorite charity.

Mr. Stephen Willard Gordon

May 4, 2007

Benson. Stephen Willard Gordon, 55, 305 W. Watson Rd., Benson, NC died Friday, May 4, 2007 from a brain aneurysm. He was born September 5, 1951. His parents were the late Willard Watson Gordon and Mineola Stephenson Gordon.

Mr. Gordon was a veteran having served in the US Air Force during the Vietnam War, 1974.

Mr. Gordon is survived by sisters, Gail Sharon Gordon Barbour Musser of the home and Patricia Lynn Gordon Holcomb, W. Watson Rd., Benson. He is also survived by nieces Sharon Leigh Barbour Smith of Wake Forest and Karen Lynn Holcomb Gonzalez of Atlanta GA., and nephews Matthew Wilson Barbour of Savannah GA. and Robert Wayne Holcomb of Memphis TN. Mr. Gordon is also predeceased by a sister, Anne Broadwell Gordon, September 16, 1976.

Open visitation at the home, 305 W. Watson Rd., Benson (McGee’s Crossroads) Sunday 3-5 pm. The funeral home will be open from 3-5 pm Sunday. Graveside service will be Monday, May 7, 10:00 am at White Memorial Presbyterian Church Cemetery, 1459 White Memorial Church Rd., Willow Spring.

Mrs. Pamela Jones Sykes

May 3, 2007

Smithfield, NC: Mrs. Pamela Jones Sykes, age 49, of 107 Greenwood Circle died Thursday at Johnston Memorial Hospital. Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Sunday at Rose & Graham Funeral Chapel in Benson. Entombment will follow in Roselawn Community Mausoleum. Officiating will be the Revs. Daniel Evans, Harmon Smith & James Croom.

Mrs. Sykes was born October 27, 1957 in Harnett County to the late Lawrence Ray and Emma Beasley Jones. She was employed for 13 years with Novo Nordisk Pharmaceutical as a formulation technician. Mrs. Sykes was a member of Selma Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church.

Survivors include Husband, Albert W. Sykes; Son, Brandon Lee Young of Smithfield; Brother & Sister-in-Law, Phillip Ray & Darlene Jones of Benson; Maternal Grandmother, Eva Mae Wood Beasley of Benson; Uncle, Donnie Beasley; and Two Nephews.

The family will receive friends at Rose & Graham Funeral Home in Benson 6:00PM to 9:00PM Saturday.

Staff Sgt. William Clint Moore

April 23, 2007

Benson, NC: Staff Sgt. William Clint Moore, age 27, of Benson died Monday April 23, 2007 in Iraq. Funeral services will be 11:00AM Thursday at Benson Grove Baptist Church, Benson. Officiating will be the Rev. Scott Johnson, Rev. Calvin Leavitt, Rev. Ronnie Lafevers, and Chaplin McCarty. Burial will follow in Banner Chapel Church Cemetery with full military honors.

Staff Sgt. Moore was born November 11, 1979 in Johnston County to Ronnie S. Moore of Benson, and the late Gwen Baker Moore. He was a 1998 graduate of South Johnston High School. He enlisted in the Army after graduation, and was currently a member of the Bravo Troop 5th Squadron, 73rd Calvary Regiment, 3rd Brigade Combat Team of the 82nd Airborne Division.

Survivors, in addition to His Father, are His Sister, Leanne M. Benson of Benson; Nephew, Thomas Clint Benson of Benson; Aunt, Jean M. Barefoot of Benson, Uncles, Ricky G. Moore and Randy S. Moore, both of Benson; Great Aunt, Bobbie Parrish of Benson; Great Uncles, Michael Porter of Va. Beach, VA., and Andy Porter of Mt. Holly, NC; and many cousins.

Family will receive friends at Rose & Graham Funeral Home in Benson Wednesday from 6:00PM to 9:00PM.

Flowers are welcomed, however family suggests memorials be made to Holly Grove Advent Christian Church, 2050 Holly Grove Rd., Benson, NC 27504, or Pleasant Hill Christian Church, 4639 NC HWY 50 North, Benson, NC 27504.

Mr. Clifford Owen Regan, Sr.

April 28, 2007

Coats, NC: Mr. Clifford Owen Regan, Sr. age 64 of 348 E. Parrish St. died Saturday at Duke Raleigh Regional Hospital. Funeral Services will be 11:00AM Tuesday at Coats Baptist Church. Officiating will be the Rev. Jesse Mooney. Burial will follow in the Williams Family Cemetery, Coats.

Mr. Regan was born March 13, 1943 in Harnett County to the late Albert and Exie Poole Regan. He was preceded in death by a Brother, Cecil Regan. He worked many years with Alphin Brothers, Inc., and retired with NC Paper Co. in Clayton. Mr. Regan was also member of the Coats Baptist Church.

Survivors include Wife, Gail Myatt Regan; Daughter, Jamie Frye of Youngsville; Son Clifford “Owen” Regan, Jr. of Coats; Grandson, Dustin Frye; Sisters, Connie Monds of Norwood, Carolyn Bradley of Monroe, and Clara Lou Byrd of Coats; Brother, Charles Regan of Coats, and many Nieces & Nephews.

The family will receive friends at Rose & Graham Funeral Home in Coats 6:00PM to 8:00PM Monday.

Miss Janice Kay Phillips

April 22, 2007

Benson, NC: Miss Janice Kay Phillips, age 60, of 4453 Zack’s Mill Road died Sunday at Johnston Memorial Hospital in Smithfield. Funeral Services will be 2:00PM Tuesday at Providence Presbyterian Church. Officiating will be Rev. Wayne Ellis and Dr. William Ellis. Burial will follow in the Church Cemetery.

Miss Phillips was born August 24, 1946 in Harnett County to the late Joseph Cleveland and Jeanette Wicker Phillips.

Survivors include Brothers & Sisters-In-Law, Gary & Georgeanna Phillips and Ken & Jan Phillips, all of Angier; Two Nephews & Spouse, Stan & Janet Phillips of Benson and Joseph Phillips of Angier; Two Nieces, Cassidy Phillips of Benson and Emma Phillips of Angier; a Step-Niece, Cheyenne Wheary of Angier, and a Step-Nephew, Cody Wheary of Angier.

Family will receive friends at Rose & Graham Funeral Home in Benson Monday from 7:00PM to 9:00PM.

Mr. William Derrick Perry

April 18, 2007

Benson, NC: Mr. William Derrick Perry, age 26, of 4882 Elevation Road died Wednesday. Funeral services will be 3:00PM Sunday at St. Mary’s Grove Original Free Will Baptist Church. Officiating will be Revs. Aubrey Williamson and Billy Nowell. Burial will follow in church cemetery.

Derrick was born April 5, 1981 in Johnston County to William “Bill” G. Perry of Benson and Kathy Wheeler Perry of Benson. He was a landscaper with Johnson Landscaping and was a member of St. Mary’s Grove Original Free Will Baptist Church.

Survivors, in addition to his parents, include Wife, Chrissy Beasley Perry; Daughters, Hailey Gautier and Ashleigh Perry; Brother, Jonathan Perry; Step-Father, Randy Gay; Step-Sister, Randa Gay; Maternal Grandmother, Carolyn Wheeler ; Papa, Clayton Varnell; Step-Daughters, Taylor Collins and Harlie Collins; Special Aunt, Debbie Wheeler and Special Great Aunt and Uncle, Billy and Reta Johnson all of Benson.

Family will receive friends at Rose & Graham Funeral Home in Benson Saturday from 6:00PM to 8:00PM.

Mr. Randall Linwood Byrd

April 9, 2007

Benson, NC: Mr. Randall Linwood Byrd, age 88, of Benson died Monday at Wake Medical Center in Raleigh. Funeral Services will be 2:00PM Thursday at Banner Chapel Advent Christian Church. Officiating will be the Rev. Glenn Fell. Burial will follow in the Church Cemetery.

Mr. Byrd was born December 13, 1918 in Johnston County to the late Arthur and Bertha Godwin Byrd. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Carra Lee Blackmon Byrd. Mr. Byrd was a retired Civil Service Employee with the North Carolina National Guard. He was a US Army Veteran of WWII and a member of the Banner Post 109 American Legion. Mr. Byrd was also a member of Banner Chapel Advent Christian Church.

Survivors include Daughters, Phyllis B. Collins of Benson, and Bonnie B. Dunn and husband, Larry, of Benson; Son, Sammy Byrd and wife, Linda, of Raleigh; Sisters, Mae Byrd of Benson, and Annette West of Garner; Grandchildren, Randy Beasley and wife, Maria, of Benson, Scott Beasley of Smithfield, Jason Dunn and wife, Heather, of Benson, Melissa Allen and husband, Jeff, of Four Oaks, Justin Dunn of Raleigh, Karen Byrd and Kimberly Byrd, both of Charlotte. Mr. Byrd was the proud PaPa of 9 Great Grandchildren, Brandon, Logan and Josh Beasley of Benson, Tyler Beasley of Princeton, Madison Beasley, Taylor and Trent Allen of Lucama, Kara Allen of Four Oaks, and Audrey Dunn of Benson; Very Special Friend, Penny Hales of Selma and Special Caregiver, Mildred Blackmon of Benson.

Family will receive friends at the Rose & Graham Funeral Home in Benson Wednesday from 7:00PM to 9:00PM and other times at the home of Larry & Bonnie Dunn, 100 Lakeshore Drive Benson, NC 27504.

Mr. Wade Allen Beasley

April 9, 2007

Angier, NC: Mr. Wade Allen Beasley, age 75, of 7390 NC HWY 50 North died Monday at Wake Medical Center in Raleigh. Funeral Services will be 11:00AM Thursday at the Rose & Graham Funeral Home Chapel in Benson. Officiating will be Rev. Lewis Baker and Rev. Glenn McCullen. Burial will follow in Roselawn Cemetery, Benson.

Mr. Beasley was born August 4, 1931 in Johnston County to the late James Allen and Hattie Young Beasley. He was also preceded in death by his siblings, James Beasley, Charles Beasley, Lalon McLamb, and Gladys Vann. He had retired from the North Carolina Department of Corrections.

Survivors include Wife, Catherine Godwin Beasley; Daughter & Son-In-Law, Cathy & Jackie Scott of Smithfield; Sons & Daughters-In-Law, Ronnie Wade & Gail Beasley of Clayton, Connie Allen & Carla Beasley of Benson, and Troy Dale Beasley of Angier; Sisters, Lois Jackson of Fayetteville, and Margaret Stancil of Benson; Brother, Clesper Beasley of Coats; 5 Grandchildren, Heather Simpson, Chrissy Perry, Kim Lockamy, Ken Scott, and Preston Lockamy; and 4 Great Grandchildren, Taylor Collins, Harlie Collins, Ashleigh Perry, and Morgan Simpson.

The family will receive friends at Rose & Graham Funeral Home in Benson from 7:00PM to 9:00PM Wednesday.
