Dunn, NC: Mr. Woody Keith Beasley, age 57, of 4869 Wood’s Crossroads Road, died Sunday at Betsy Johnson Regional Hospital in Dunn. Funeral Services will be 2:00PM Tuesday at Beulah Baptist Church. Officiating will be Rev. C. H. Lee. Burial will follow in Banner Chapel Church Cemetery, Benson.
Mr. Beasley was born May 25, 1950 in Harnett County to the late Marshall Nelson and Ruby Noles Beasley. He was a farmer and a member of Beulah Baptist Church.
Surviving include, Wife, Janice Tart Beasley; Sons & Daughters-in-Law, Brian & Tracy Beasley of Four Oaks, Ben & Lorie Beasley of Godwin, and Brandon & Crystal Beasley of Four Oaks; Brothers, Randy Beasley & wife, Jean, of Dunn, Charlie Beasley & wife, Bobbie, of Jacksonville, AL, and Dwight Beasley & wife, Tammy, of Dunn; Sister, Janice Summerlin & husband, Chuck, of Selma; and Five Grandchildren.

Mr. James Stephen “Stevie” Benson

Benson, NC: Mr. James Stephen “Stevie” Benson, age 56, of 500 Ryals Street died Friday at this residence. A Graveside Service will be 11:00AM Monday at Banner Chapel Advent Christian Church Cemetery. Officiating will be Rev. Glenn Fell.
Mr. Benson was born July 31, 1951 in Johnston County to the late James Hunter and Alvie Swaim Benson. He was a carpenter in the home construction business. Mr. Benson also attended Banner Chapel Advent Christian Church.
Surviving include Sister, Carol Benson Wilkins of Benson, and good friend, Dwight Arnold of Louisburg; Nephew, Shanon Wilkins and wife, Lisa, of White Lake; Extended Family, Lynn McLeod and Son, Jesse McDaniels, and Granddaughters, Shailyn & Kealey McDaniels, all of Hendersonville.
Family will receive friends at Rose & Graham Funeral Home, Benson, from 7:00PM to 9:00PM Sunday and other times at the home of Carol Wilkins, 208 Banner Lane, Benson, NC.
Mrs. Grace Sawyer Matthews

Coats, NC: Mrs. Grace Sawyer Matthews, age 83, of Coats died Wednesday at Brookfield Retirement Home in Lillington. Funeral Services will be 11:00AM Friday at the Coats Baptist Church. Officiating will be Rev. Jesse Mooney, Rev. Ronnie Byrd, and Mrs. Bethany Stevens. Burial will follow in Prospect FWB Church Cemetery.
Mrs. Matthews was born March 8, 1924 in Harnett Count to the late W.A. and Alda White Sawyer. She was also preceded in death by her Husband, Tommy Matthews. Mrs. Matthews had retired from food service with Campbell University, was a homemaker and a farmer. She was also a member of the Coats Baptist Church and was a Sunday School Teacher for over 50 years at Prospect FWB Church and Coats Baptist Church.
Surviving include Sons & Daughters-In-Law, Craig T. & Denise C. Matthews, and Donnie W. & Lynn A. Matthews, all of Coats; Brother, H.A. Sawyer of Erwin; Sister, Verl Coleman of Wilmington; Five Grandchildren, Cullen Matthews, Taylor Matthews, Turner Matthews, Leigh Matthews, and Addison Matthews.
Flowers are welcomed, however memorials may be made to the Prayer Garden at Coats Baptist Church, PO Box 297, Coats, NC 27521.

Mr. James Edward Hurley

Angier, NC: Mr. James Edward Hurley, age 39, of 11050 NC Hwy 50 North died Monday at his residence. Graveside Funeral Services will be 11:00AM Thursday at Fellowship Community Cemetery. Officiating will be Rev. Eddie White.
Mr. Hurley was born September 9, 1967 in Virginia to Everett Hurley, Sr., of Benson and the late Brenda Brewster Hurley. He was a truck driver.
Surviving, in addition to his father, is: Brother, Everett Hurley, Jr., and wife, Deanna, of Angier.

Mr. Benton Frank McGee

Benson, NC: Mr. Benton Frank McGee age 86 of Benson died Sunday at Liberty Commons Nursing & Rehabilitation of Johnston County. Funeral Services will be 11:00AM Wednesday at the Rose & Graham Funeral Home Chapel. Officiating will be Pastor Jack Shurman, Pastor Scott Betts, and Rev. Randy Beasley. Burial will follow in the McGee Family Cemetery.
Mr. McGee was born January 5, 1921 in Johnston County to the late Ben Frank and Addie Clifton McGee. He was also preceded in death by his first wife, Janie Casey McGee and a son, Larry Mack McGee. He was a retired security guard at PGI in Benson and a retired Farmer. Mr. McGee was a member of Berea Presbyterian Church.
Surviving are: Wife, Birdie Thomas Coats McGee; Daughters, Barbara M. & husband, Romie T. Eason of Benson, and Janet M. Blalock of Benson, and fiance, J.R. Johnson of Kenly; Step-Son & Spouse, Wayne & Sherry Coats of Willow Spring; Five Grandchildren; Three Great Grandchildren; and Two Step-Grandchildren..

Mr. Lawrence Elijah Massengill

Four Oaks, NC: Mr. Lawrence Elijah Massengill age 89 of 7586 Strickland’s Crossroads Rd. died Sunday at Johnston Memorial Hospital in Smithfield. Funeral Services will be 2:00PM Tuesday at Blackman’s Grove Baptist Church. Officiating will be the Revs. Jerry Hicks and Gene Clayton. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Mr. Massengill was born December 26, 1917 in Johnston County to the late William B., Sr. and Sarah Parker Massengill. He was a retired farmer. Mr. Massengill was a 1936 graduate of Four Oaks High School and graduated from NC State in 1941 with a degree in civil engineering. Mr. Massengill was a US Navy veteran of WWII, and was a member of the Banner Post 109 American Legion. He was also a member of Blackman’s Grove Baptist Church, where he was a past deacon, and served in many capacities.
Surviving include Wife of 63 years, Pennie Parrish Massengill; Sons & Daughters-In-Law, Larry W. & Lena Massengill of Benson, and W. Stanton & Pam Massengill of Four Oaks; Grandchildren, Heather M. Clifton, Ryan Massengill, Thomas Massengill, Greg Massengill, and Sarah Massengill; Great Granddaughters, Hannah Massengill and Savanah Clifton.

Four Oaks, NC: Mrs. Mary Ruth Benson Parker, 84 of 680 Unity Church Road died Sunday at Liberty Commons in Benson. Funeral Services will be held Tuesday at 2:00 PM at Rose & Graham Funeral Chapel in Benson. Rev. Billy Keene will officiate. Burial will follow in Roselawn Cemetery.
Mrs. Parker was born in Johnston County on June 10, 1923 to the late Newitt & Edith McLamb Benson. Mrs. Parker was a member of Unity Advent Christian Church and a homemaker. In addition to her parents Mrs. Parker was preceded in death by her husband, David Elwood Parker and a son, Ricky Parker.
Surviving are: Daughters, Linda Stanley and friend, Billy Blackman of Four Oaks, June Dail & Husband, Raeford Jernigan of Benson, Larue & Husband, Danny Penny of Smithfield: Son, Gene & Wife, Kay Parker of Four Oaks; Son-in-law, Lawrence Stanley of Four Oaks; Sister, Ila Hudson of Benson; Seven Grandchildren, Nine Great Grandchildren & Two Great-Great Grandchildren.

Mr. William Sherrill McLamb

Benson, NC: Mr. William Sherrill McLamb, age 74, of 816 Adams Rd died Friday at Wake Medical Center in Raleigh. Funeral Services will be 2:00 PM Monday at Stone’s Creek Advent Christian Church. Officiating will be the Revs. Doug Abel and Michael Whitley. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Mr. McLamb was born April 7, 1933 in Johnston County to the late Charlie and Lessie McLamb. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Martha Jeanette McLamb, a daughter, Sharon Ann McLamb, sisters, Stella M. Hicks, and Susie E. McLamb, brothers, Hubert McLamb, Milton “Bill” McLamb, and Sherman McLamb. Mr. McLamb was a retired dry wall contractor and was a member of Stone’s Creek Advent Christian Church.
Survivors are Daughter, Deborah McLamb Ray of Benson; Grandchildren and Spouse, Johnathan Neil and Christy Ray of Cleveland, Jessica Lane Ray and Chris Holder of Dunn; Great- Grandchildren, Brittany Holder, Jessica Holder, Jennifer Holder, Ethan Holmes, Dylan Coats, Makayla Coats, and Samantha Holder and Several Nieces and Nephews.

Mr. Jarvis J. Capps

Willow Spring, NC: Mr. Jarvis J. Capps age 72, of 1416 Settlers Hill Road, died Thursday at Pitt Memorial Hospital in Greenville. Graveside funeral service will be held Sunday 3:00PM at Elevation United Methodist Church Cemetery. Rev. Henry Lee will officiate.
Mr. Capps was born on April 16, 1935 to the late Harvey & Media Ellis Capps. Mr. Capps was a farmer. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brothers Reuben and Bennie Capps.
Surviving are: Daughters, Lisa Autry of Autryville, and Cindy Adams of Raleigh. Sons: Ricky Capps of Raleigh, Glenn Capps of Willow Spring, Michael Capps of Clayton & Chris Capps of Dunn. Sister, Hilda Barbour of Laurel Springs, Brothers: Billy Capps of Erwin and Ronald Capps of Clayton. Fourteen Grandchildren.
Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 1-2 on Sunday at Rose & Graham Funeral Home in Benson.
Mrs. Ella Stephenson Sherrill

Garner, NC: Mrs. Ella Stephenson Sherrill, age 88, of Garner died Sunday at Oaks of Carolina in Raleigh. Funeral Services will be 11:00 AM Wednesday at Providence Presbyterian Church, Angier. Officiating will be the Rev. Mark Scott. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park, Smithfield.
Mrs. Sherrill was born December 20, 1918 in Johnston County to the late Fletcher and Vallie Barefoot Stephenson. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Garland Paul Sherrill, and a son, Martin Lloyd Sherrill. Mrs. Sherrill was a homemaker. She was an active member of Providence Presbyterian Church and received an “Honorary Life Membership” given by the Presbyterian Women, Presbyterian Church USA. Mrs. Sherrill was an avid Wolfpack fan and thoroughly enjoyed attending her children’s and grandchildren’s activities.
Survivors are Daughters & Son-In-Law, Barbara S. & Joe Smith of Charlotte, and Gayle S. Matthews of Raleigh; Son & Daughter-In-Law, Garland Paul & Karen Sherrill of Willow Spring; Grandchildren, Bobby Smith, Greg Smith, Grady Matthews, Jack Sherrill, and Megan Sherrill; Seven Great Grandchildren.
