Orfelinda Mercedes Maravi

Orfelinda Mercedes Maravi, 63, of Wilson passed away Thursday. Funeral services will be conducted 7 p.m. Sunday at Joyner’s Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held 11 a.m. Monday in Evergreen Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends immediately following the service Sunday at Joyner’s Funeral Home, 4100 Raleigh Road Parkway and other times at the home.
Orfelinda is survived by her daughter, Linda Maravi and husband, Dennis Jones of Wilson; her son, Daniel Maravi of Wilson and her grandsons, Taylor Desrosiers, Jarred Desrosiers and Alan Calderon all of Wilson.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Manuel Orrego and Maria Casachahua de Orrego.
Floyd Ray Davis, Jr.
August 25, 1986 – March 5, 2013
Floyd “Lil’ Ray” Davis, Jr., 26 of Wilson passed away Tuesday. Funeral services will be conducted 7 p.m. Friday at Joyner’s Funeral Home. Graveside service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday in Marsh Swamp Original FWB Church Cemetery. The Rev. Ray Wells will officiate.
The family will receive friends Friday, immediately following the service at Joyner’s Funeral Home, 4100 Raleigh Road Parkway and other times at the home.
“Lil’ Ray” was a loving son, brother, grandson, uncle, nephew, cousin and friend to all that knew him. He loved hunting and fishing. He had a very giving and compassionate heart.
“Lil’ Ray” is survived by his parents, Ray and Sharron Askew Davis of Wilson; his sister, Nicole and brother-in-law, Matthew Cox; his niece, Mackenzie Cox and nephew, Travis Cox all of Richlands; his paternal grandparents, Floyd and Doris Davis of Wilson and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Herbert and Irene Askew.

Emma Jean Vanderford Wilson
November 8, 1955 – May 2, 2013
After a courageous battle with cancer, Emma Jean Wilson passed away Thursday, May 2, 2013 peacefully at home. She was 57 years old. Born November 8, 1955 in Robersonville, N.C., Emma Jean was the daughter of Ella Louise Matthews Vanderford and the late Roy Lee Vanderford.
Emma Jean is survived by her husband, Charles Leon Wilson III of the home as well as their sons, Charles L. Wilson IV and his wife Anna Marshall of Raleigh, Louis V. Wilson of Washington, and Robert B. Wilson of Raleigh. Other family includes her mother, Ella Louise Vanderford of Robersonville and sisters Kathy V. Roberson and her husband James of Burlington, Addie Lou V. Leggett and her husband Robbie of Robersonville, Fran V. Wilson and her husband Matt of Raleigh and sister-in-law Dee W. Loop and her husband David of Jacksonville, Fl.
After graduating high school in Robersonville, Emma Jean entered East Carolina University, earning her BSN in 1978. In 1979, she married her high school sweetheart, and they moved to Wilson in 1982 where they have raised their family. A committed Christian and active member of First United Methodist Church, Emma Jean was an avid supporter of the Volunteers in Missions Team. She spent many years serving the community with interests in the Boy Scouts of America Troop 6, Wilson Medical Center Auxiliary on their Board of Directors and The Brittany Willis Memorial Scholarship Soccer Showcase as well as many other causes behind the scenes.
Emma Jean truly did not know a stranger. She had a gift for making others feel included and special. Her circle of friends was huge, and she was often the first arrive with gifts or food after a loss or celebration. Any excuse to gather friends and family for food and fellowship was embraced with great enthusiasm, and it was her presence that provided the catalyst for many a spontaneous party.
Her greatest love in life was her family. Treasured relationships with her parents, and Leon’s, her sisters, Leon’s brother and sister, and their families made her life tapestry very special. Active in all phases of her children’s lives, she took great pride in having three Eagle Scouts. She cherished trips and vacations with Leon and the boys and time spent “on the pond” at Atlantic Beach. Known for her wry humor and frank, pragmatic approach to almost everything, Emma Jean approached each day with purpose and every relationship as an opportunity to share. She absolutely loved to laugh.
Funeral services will be conducted at 3 p.m. Sunday at First United Methodist Church, 100 W. Green Street, Wilson. The Rev. Bob Bergland and the Rev. Bill Presnell will officiate.
The family will receive friends on Saturday from 6-8 p.m. at Joyner’s Funeral Home, 4100 Raleigh Road Parkway and other times at the home. Lucille Howell Stallings
December 9, 1928 – April 6, 2013
Lucille Howell Stallings, 84, of Elm City passed away Saturday. Funeral services will be conducted 7 p.m. Tuesday at Joyner’s Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday in Evergreen Memorial Park. The Rev. Clarence Moore will officiate.
The family will receive friends immediately following the service at Joyner’s Funeral Home, 4100 Raleigh Road Parkway and other times at her residence.
Lucille is survived by her daughter, Judy S. Upchurch of Elm City; her granddaughters, Lou Ann Boykin and husband, Chris of Sims and Tracy Glover and husband, Dwight of Elm City; her two great-grandchildren; her sisters, Ethel Lamm and Shirley Owens both of Wilson and her brother, J.P. Howell of Wilson.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Isaac Stallings Jr., her sister, Blanche Lamm and her brothers, Rev. William Howell and Marvin Howell.
Charles Ray Joyner
August 19, 1938 – March 13, 2013
Charles Ray Joyner, 74, of Wilson passed away Wednesday. Funeral services will be conducted 7 p.m. Thursday at Joyner’s Funeral Home. Graveside service will be held 11 a.m. Friday in Evergreen Memorial Park. The Rev. Rusty Russell will officiate.
The family will receive friends immediately following the service at Joyner’s Funeral Home, 4100 Raleigh Road Parkway and other times at the home of his sister, Marlene Winstead.
Ray is survived by his wife, Elsie Whitley Joyner of Wilson; his son, Michael Ray Joyner of Wilson; his sisters, Glenda J. Hobson and husband, Stanley of Sharpsburg and Marlene Winstead and husband, Millard of Sandy Cross and his step-grandchildren, Jay, Jordan, Carlie and Bailey.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Otis Lee Joyner and Lillian Ruth Brewer Joyner and his sister, Rebecca Ann Lucas.

George Wayne Smith
September 26, 1949 – April 15, 2013
George Wayne Smith, 63, of Lucama passed away Monday. A graveside service will be held 11 a.m. Friday in Webb Cemetery on Glover Road, Fountain. The Rev. Rex Edwards will officiate.
The family will receive friends 6 – 8 p.m. Thursday at 6444 Slabtown Road, Wilson.
Wayne is survived by his wife, Teresa Smith of the home; his daughters, Hope Troutman and Bobby Grimsley of Wilson and Faith Hirschi and husband, Ryan; his sisters, Brenda Page and husband, Donnie of Wilson, Sue Harris and husband, Wayne of Lucama, Elaine Beaman and husband Ray of Sims and Cindy Bissette and husband, Herman of Bailey; his granddaughters, Tiffany Troutman, Christie Troutman, Kaitlyn Hirschi and Claudia Hirschi; his grandson, Blake Grimsley, and his step-sons, Scottie Futch and Neal Futch.
He was preceded in death by his son, George Wayne Smith, Jr.; his parents, Willie Smitty Smith and Daisy Webb Smith; his brothers, Kent and Lane Smith and his granddaughter, Madison Troutman.
Luby Powell Bradshaw
February 7, 1926 – March 25, 2013
Luby P. Bradshaw, 87, of Wilson passed away Monday. Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Friday at Joyner’s Funeral Home. Interment with military honors will follow in Evergreen Memorial Park. The Rev. Dr. Rusty Russell, the Rev. Brian Tippett and the Rev. Gordon Sebastian will officiate.
The family will receive friends from 6 – 9 p.m. Thursday at Joyner’s Funeral Home Funeral, 4100 Raleigh Road Parkway and other times at the home.
Luby served his country honorably with the U.S. Army during World War II. Luby and Elizabeth were the founders and charter members of Peace Free Will Baptist Church and remained active as long as their health allowed. He worked for Wilson Motor Parts for 56 years and G&E; Motor parts for 6 years.
Luby is survived by his daughter, Gail Bradshaw Swartzfager and husband, Duane; his sons, Carlton H. Bradshaw, Sr. and wife, Debbie and J.T. “Tony” Bradshaw and wife, Patricia all of Wilson; his step-son, Dr. Thomas M. Stanley and his wife, Lyndall of Savannah, GA; his granddaughters, Jill Bradshaw, Christy Lyndon and husband, Joe all of Wilson and Dr. Loren Simonds and husband, Joe of Houston, TX; his grandsons, Lee Bradshaw and wife, Catie of Garner, Carl Bradshaw and wife, Kelly of Wilson, Derek Bradshaw and wife, Kathryn of Richmond, VA, Ray Daniels and wife, Melissa of Black Creek, Laughton Stanley and wife, Rebecca and Byron Stanley and wife, Rainuka all of Cambridge, MA; fourteen great-grandchildren, and his sister, Margie Caudill and husband Harold of Charlotte.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Elizabeth Aycock Bradshaw; his parents, Ivey and Cora Shadding Bradshaw; four sisters and four brothers.
