Hoyt Jerome “Jay” Shealy
October 19, 1941 – April 18, 2013
Hoyt Jerome “Jay” Shealy, 71, of Wilson passed away Thursday. Funeral services will be conducted 3 p.m. Sunday at Joyner’s Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Evergreen Memorial Park. The Rev. Elwood Long will officiate.
The family will receive friends 6 – 8 p.m. Saturday at Joyner’s Funeral Home, 4100 Raleigh Road Parkway and other times at 4517 Chandler Drive, Wilson.
Jay was a loving husband, father, grandfather and brother. His memories will live forever in the hearts of his loved ones. He will be missed and thought of often. He was a member and past master with Masonic Lodge #712.
Jay is survived by his wife, Vickie Cayton Shealy of the home; his daughters, Beth Shealy Parker and husband, Chris of Wilson and Brenda Shealy Jones and husband, Dwayne of Wilson; his son, Robert Jerome “Bobby” Shealy and wife, Kate of Wilson; his grandchildren, Joshua Jones, Megan Parker, Victoria Jones, Andie Shealy, Madison Parker, Richard “RJ” Shealy and Noah Parker and his brother, Paul Shealy and wife, Willie Mae of Newberry, SC.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Samuel Grady Shealy and Marzelle Fulmer Shealy; his grandchild, Bailey Christine Parker and his brother, Sam Shealy.
Donald Freeman Lamm
June 21, 1946 – May 1, 2013
Donald Freeman “Don” Lamm, 66 of Nashua, NH formerly of Wilson passed away following a long valiant battle with cancer on Wednesday, May 1, 2013 with his family at his side at the Lahey Clinic Medical Center in Burlington, MA.
Don was born
in Wilson, on June 21, 1946, son of the late Willie M. and Bertha V. (Eppes) Lamm. He was raised in Wilson and graduated from Rock Ridge High School. He enlisted into the U.S. Army in 1968 followed by a long successful career, retiring in 1991 at the rank of Command Sergeant Major. While in the Army he received an Associate’s Degree in Business Management.
Following military retirement, Don was employed for 19 years as a field engineer at Raytheon until 2010, and for the last 2 years as a consultant for Intuitive Research and Technology in Huntsville, AL.
Don had a passion for the protection of the soldier, a gifted musician in his group, “The Lone Star Band” playing bass guitar. He was an avid NASCAR race fan and was a seasoned traveler RVing with his wife, family and close friends.
In addition to his wife, Debra, he is survived by his children and spouses, Teresa L. and Marty Lewis of Kenly, John W. Lamm of San Angelo, TX, Daniel F. Lamm of Milford, NH, and stepson Russell J. and Joanna Cooper of Lynn, MA; his siblings and their spouses, William M. and Jeanette Lamm of Wilson, Nora Lamm Williamson of Greenville, and Wanda Lamm and Donnie Sherrod of Sims and his 3 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren that were the love of his life.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Norman Leon Lamm.
A visitation was held May 4, 2013 at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, in Peabody, MA. A celebration of life was held at 6 p.m. at the funeral Home with Rev. Grant Hoofnagle officiating.
A graveside service will be held 2 p.m. Friday, May 10, 2013 at Rock Hill Cemetery, Wilson. The Rev. Elwood Long will officiate.

Ernest Bunyan Barefoot, Jr.
September 6, 1917 – July 16, 2013
Ernest Bunyan “E.B.” Barefoot, Jr., 95, of Wilson passed away Tuesday. Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church, Wilson. Entombment will follow in Maplewood Cemetery. The Rev. Dr. Douglas Murray will officiate.
The family will receive friends Saturday 1 – 1:45 p.m. prior to the service at First Baptist Church, 311 W Nash Street, Wilson and other times at the home of his daughter.
“E.B.” was in the wholesale confections business for 43 years. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Wilson for 81 years.
“E.B.” is survived by his daughter, Jean B. McLamb and husband, Cecil R. of Wilson and his grandson, Brandon B. McLamb of Raleigh.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth Batts Barefoot; his parents, Ernest Bunyan Barefoot, Sr. and Nannie Norris Barefoot; his sister, Elsie Mae Nichols and his brothers, James Edwin Barefoot and Charles William Barefoot.

Guy Roosevelt Ferrell
August 13, 1940 – May 20, 2013
Guy Roosevelt Ferrell, 73, of Sims passed away Monday. A Graveside service will be conducted 11 a.m. Friday in the Ferrell Family Cemetery, Lucama. The Rev. Barbara High Tyre will officiate.
The family will receive friends 6:30 – 8:00 p.m. Thursday at Joyner’s Funeral Home, 4100 Raleigh Road Parkway and other times at the home.
Guy is survived by his wife, Evelyn Arnette Ferrell of the home; his son, Gary Ferrell and wife, Teresa of Wilson and his grandson, Matthew Ferrell and his granddaughters, Jazmine Ferrell and Starr Ferrell.
Jacquelyn M. “Jackie” Harris
November 8, 1946 – May 14, 2013
Jacquelyn M. “Jackie” Harris, 66, of Wilson passed away Tuesday. A memorial service will be conducted 11 a.m. Saturday at Joyner’s Funeral Home. Inurnment will be private in Evergreen Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends immediately following the service at Joyner’s Funeral Home, 4100 Raleigh Road Parkway.
Jackie was dedicated to both Wilson Community College and Barton College, where she worked as a graphic artist overseeing college publications.
Jackie is survived by her husband, Raymond P. Harris of the home; her daughter, Laura Harris Clark and husband, Craig; her granddaughter, Alexis Clark and grandson, Jackson Clark all of Mt. Pleasant, SC; her mother, Doris W. McIntosh of Wilson; her sisters, Vickie McIntosh of Wilson, Sharron Best and husband, Ike of Jamestown, NC and Erin Formo and husband, Brian of Wilson and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father, Harold M. McIntosh.

Barbara Francis Daniel

Barbara Francis Daniel, 77, of Wendell passed away Thursday, July 11, 2013. A memorial service will be conducted 2 p.m. Saturday, July 13, 2013, at Joyner’s Funeral Home, 4100 Raleigh Road Parkway, Wilson, NC.
The family will receive friends 12:30 – 1:45 p.m. Saturday prior to the service at the funeral home.
Barbara was born
June 19, 1936 in Bonney Blue, VA. She grew up in Leatherwood, KY and spent most of her married life with her husband of 54 years, John David Daniel, Jr., in Wilmington, NC.
Surviving are her husband, John David Daniel, Jr.; three children, Marla Bohm, Carla Daniel, and Mark Daniel; two grandchildren, Megan and Slater Bohm; and a sister, Eula Bea Hopper.
Adelle Johnson Barbee
August 9, 1928 – June 18, 2013
Adelle Johnson Barbee, 84, of Wilson passed away Tuesday. Funeral services will be conducted 2:30 p.m. Thursday at Joyner’s Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Maplewood Cemetery. The Rev. Ed Earp will officiate.
The family will receive friends 1:00 – 2:15 p.m. prior to the service at Joyner’s Funeral Home, 4100 Raleigh Road Parkway, Wilson.
Adelle is survived by her daughters, Helen B. Hargis of Clayton and Nancy Barbee of Orlando, FL; her sons, William Barbee of Sylvania, GA, Steve Barbee of Kenly and Jim Barbee of Kenly; twelve grandchildren and nineteen great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jim Barbee; her parents, Wiley Herod Johnson and Mary Ida Hawley Johnson; her sister, Beulah Klein and her brothers, Ernest Johnson, Aubrey Johnson and Graham Johnson.
