Dolly Jean Waddell
May 6, 1934 – April 7, 2013
Dolly Jean Waddell, 78 of Sims went to be with her Lord and Savior on April 7, at Vidant Medical Center surrounded by her family after a courageous battle of sickness. Her love for life and her family was evident as she fought a hard fight her last few weeks. She was a loving mother, grandmother, sister and aunt to many close relatives who will miss her so much. She loved the Lord with all her heart and was a strong Godly woman who taught her loved ones the importance of strong family values and living for the Lord. She will always be remembered for her unwavering faith in God and a life well lived.
Dolly is survived by her sons, Allen Walker of Clarksville, TN; Randolph Waddell and wife, Sandra of Sims, Wayne Waddell and wife, Sherri of Rock Ridge; her daughter, Beverly Horne and husband, Matt of Rock Ridge; her grandchildren, that were precious to her heart, Justin, Lauren, Logan and Bricen all of Rock Ridge and Cindy and Athena of Tennessee; three great-grandchildren and her sister, Sally Mae Wallace and husband, Rudolph of Macclesfield.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Rudolph Waddell, her parents and many brothers and sisters.
Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Wednesday at Joyner’s Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Waddell Family Cemetery, Spring Hill Church Road, Lucama.
The family will receive friends 7 – 9 p.m. Tuesday at Joyner’s Funeral Home, 4100 Raleigh Road Parkway and other times at her home.

Debra Creel Keen
February 6, 1964 – May 2, 2013
Debra Creel Keen, 49, of Wilson passed away Thursday. Graveside services will be conducted 3 p.m. Monday in Evergreen Memorial Park. The Pastor Matt Horne will officiate.
The family will receive friends 1:30 – 2:30 p.m. Monday prior to the service at Joyner’s Funeral Home, 4100 Raleigh Road Parkway.
Debra is survived by her husband, “Spankey” Keen of Wilson; her son, Kevin Walston and wife, Crystal of Wilson; her mother, Pauline Hamm Jones; her sisters, Jeanne Creel of Lucama and Lois C. Lucas of Wilson; her grandson, Jacob Walston and Robert Dillion and her granddaughter, Haley Walston all of Wilson.
She was preceded in death by her father, Robert Creel and her brother, Robert Creel Jr. and her sister, Diane Creel.
Dorothy Eloise Peeden Jackson
June 8, 1935 – March 18, 2013
Dorothy Eloise Peeden Jackson, 77, of Wilson passed away Monday. Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Wednesday at Joyner’s Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Black Creek Cemetery.
The family will receive friends immediately following the service at Joyner’s Funeral Home, 4100 Raleigh Road Parkway and 7 – 9 p.m. Tuesday at 5325 Castlewood Drive, Wilson.
Dorothy is survived by her daughter, Terri Lynn Jackson Cooke of Stantonsburg; her sons, Kenny Jackson and Steven Todd Jackson both of Wilson; her grandchildren, Jason Cooke, Jamie Cooke Watson, Tyler Cooke, Justin Jackson and Jordan Jackson; her great-grandsons, Wyatt Watson and Joen Cooke; and her sister, Patti Peeden Bunn of Statesville, NC.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Vernon Jackson; her parents, William Hugh Peeden and Pearl Boswell Ferrell and her brothers, William “Bill” Peeden, Jr., Joseph “Monk” Peeden and Ray Peeden.

Edward Ramanand Jagnandan
September 22, 1952 – April 18, 2013
Edward Ramanand Jagnandan, 60, of Wilson passed away Thursday. Funeral services will be conducted 8 p.m. Sunday at Joyner’s Funeral Home. The Rev. Michael Bell will officiate. Interment will follow at a later date in Fairview Cemetery, Scottsburg, Indiana.
The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 7:45 p.m. Sunday prior to the service at Joyner’s Funeral Home, 4100 Raleigh Road Parkway.
Edward was a loving husband, father, and brother who will be missed and was loved by all who knew him. He was President/CEO of the Wilson Housing Authority and a longtime member of the Rotary Club, as well as many other civic organizations. Edward had a real passion for people who were less fortunate, and worked tirelessly for affordable housing.
Edward is survived by his wife, Brenda J. Jagnandan of Wilson; daughter, Jennifer Geiger; sons, David Rife (Kate), Derek Rife (Wendy) all of Indiana, Ravinder Jagnandan of Tennessee; brothers, Neville Jagnandan of Georgia and Leonard Jagnandan of Florida.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Wilfred and Helen Jagnandan; sister, Nora Irwin and brother, Dr. Norris Jagnandan.

Kenneth Paton Page
April 29, 1950 – March 25, 2013
Kenneth Paton Page, 62, of Wilson passed away Monday. Funeral services will be conducted 7 p.m. Thursday at Joyner’s Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held 11 a.m. Friday in the Free Union FWB Church Cemetery, 3454 Macedonia Rd., Spring Hope. The Rev. Steve Strickland and the Rev. Ed Earp will officiate.
The family will receive friends Thursday evening immediately following the service at Joyner’s Funeral Home, 4100 Raleigh Road Parkway, and other times at 2600 Bayleaf Circle, Wilson.
Kenny was a supervisor at Smurfit Stone Container for 40 years. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather who loved to fish. He was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by all those who knew him.
Surviving are his wife, Irene Denton Page of the home; five children, Melissa Lloyd and husband, Keith, Tamara Arizpe and husband, Manuel, and Jamie Walls and friend, Phillip Morgan all of Wilson, Cathy Shearin and husband, William of Spring Hope and Renee Ballance and husband, Brian of Pine Level; twelve grandchildren; three sisters, Sue Poland and husband, Alvin of Rocky Mount, Pat Skinner and husband, James of Wilson, and Susie Boyd and husband, Bobby of Washington; four brothers, Jim Page and wife, Cathy, J.R. Page and wife, Vickie, and Danny Lee Braswell all of Bailey, and Bobby Braswell of Wilson; and a host of uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Addison Kearney and Gladys Brantley Page, and his step-father, Himond Lee Braswell.

Thomas Edgar Whitley
December 26, 1933 – April 9, 2013
Thomas “Tommy” Edgar Whitley, 79, of Wilson passed away Tuesday. Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Friday at Joyner’s Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Evergreen Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends 6:30 – 8:30 Thursday at Joyner’s Funeral Home, 4100 Raleigh Road Parkway and other times at 2620 Ridge Road, Wilson.
Tommy is survived by his son, Ricky Whitley and wife, Bernadette of Wilson; his daughter, Jeanine Hamscher and husband, Greg of Chesapeake, VA; his grandchildren, Kyle Whitley of Elm City, Stephanie Hines of Middlesex, Rachel Whitley and Whitley Braswell both of Wilson, and Zach and Andrew Hamscher both of Chesapeake, VA; his great-grandchildren, Xavier and Xander; his brother, James Whitley and wife, Florence of Wilson; his sister, Jean Eatmon of Wilson and his special friend, Pat Lowe.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Lois Jean Whitley.

April 4, 1935 – May 3, 2013
Rev. Melvin Turner, 78, of Wilson passed away Friday. Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Monday at Joyner’s Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Maplewood Cemetery. The Rev. Emmett Turner and Rev. Daniel Taylor will officiate.
The family will receive friends 6 – 8 p.m. Sunday at Joyner’s Funeral Home, 4100 Raleigh Road Parkway, Wilson and other times at the home.
Rev. Turner is survived by his wife, Alice Pittman Turner of the home; his daughter, Linda Faye Turner of Fayetteville; his son, Danny L. Turner of Wilson; two grandchildren and one great-grandchild; his sister, Martha Thorne and husband, Ervin of Aberdeen; his brothers, Rev. Emmett Earl Turner and wife, Esther, Gene Turner and wife, Jean and Ray Turner and wife, Barbara all of Wilson and several nieces and nephews.
