Linda Jackson Proctor, 45, of Elm City died Tuesday. Funeral services will be conducted at 7 p.m. Thursday at Joyner’s Funeral Home, 4100 Raleigh Road Parkway, Wilson. Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday in People’s Chapel Church Cemetery, Elm City. The Rev. David Proctor will officiate
The family will receive friends Thursday at the funeral home immediately following the service and at other times will be at the residence.
Mrs. Proctor is survived by her husband, Randall “Randy” Lee Proctor, and a daughter, Roxanna Kaye Proctor both of Elm City; a son, Randall “Rocky” Lee Proctor, Jr. and wife, Jordan Vainright Proctor of Greenville and a future grandson; her mother, Betsy Adams Jackson, and her grandmother, Eula Wells Adams both of Elm City; a sister, LaRee Jackson Langley and husband, Allen Langley of Nashville; a brother, Richard Darwin Jackson of Elm City; her mother-in-law, Evelyn Lee Proctor of Elm City; a sister-in-law, Ginger Proctor Miles and husband, Wes Miles of Red Oak; two brothers–in-law, Roy Proctor and wife, Judy Proctor of Gustine, Texas, and Hassell Proctor of Macclesfield. Also left to cherish her with wonderful memories are 10 nieces and nephews; seven great-nephews and one great-niece; many uncles, aunts, family and friends; all her special Weaver Road neighbors, friends, and co-workers at Kountry Klippers.
She was preceded in death by her father, Pastor Richard W. Jackson; a brother, Johnny Melvin Jackson, and her father-in-law, Roy Richard Proctor.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to Christ’s Independent Baptist Church, PO Box 966, Elm City, NC 27822.

Starlon Randolph Deans, Sr.
August 27, 1945 – December 14, 2011
Starlon Randolph Deans, Sr., 66, of Bailey died Wednesday. A memorial service will be conducted 7 p.m. Sunday at Joyner’s Funeral Home, 4100 Raleigh Road Parkway, Wilson. The Rev. Blake Stallings and the Rev. Charles Thompson will officiate.
The family will receive friends Sunday evening immediately following the service at the funeral home and other times at 10827 Camp Charles Rd., Bailey.
Surviving are his wife, Brenda Joyner Deans; two daughters, Susan Deans Joyner and husband, George of Bailey, and Amy Deans Noland and husband, Quentin of Nashville; one son, Randy Deans of Pikeville; seven grandchildren, Tracy Deans and wife, Amanda, Stacey Deans and wife, Kendall, Reva Joyner, Danyelle Noland, Mark Deans, Alex Noland, and Kayelon Joyner; two sisters, Elizabeth “Lib” Dickerson and Nancy Denton, both of Bailey; three brothers, James Deans of Henderson, and Marvin Deans and Rondy Deans, both of Bailey; and his “best buddy”, Tucker.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Elton and Ruby Wall Deans.

Margie Bass Jobe
April 26, 1931 – December 5, 2011
Margie Bass Jobe, 80, of Elm City died Monday. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Joyner’s Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Evergreen Memorial Park. The Rev. Michael Baccus will officiate.
The family will receive friends 7 – 9 p.m. Tuesday at Joyner’s Funeral Home, 4100 Raleigh Road Parkway, Wilson and other times at the home of Pamela Jo Webb, 7266 Jobe Road, Elm City.
Mrs. Jobe is survived by two daughters, Cynthia “Peanut” Gardner and husband, Joe of Macclesfield and Pamela Jo Webb of Elm City; three grandchildren, Kevin Gardner, Anthony Webb, and Jacob Webb; a sister, Ruth Cady of Greensboro and a special niece, Betty Lewis of Elm City.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jerald F. Jobe and a son-in-law, Jimmy Ray Webb.
David Randolph Parnell
July 14, 1943 – December 4, 2011
David Randolph Parnell, 68, of Wilson died Sunday. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Joyner’s Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Maplewood Cemetery. The Rev. Tommy Hagan will officiate.
The family will receive friends 12 – 2 p.m. Wednesday at Joyner’s Funeral Home, 4100 Raleigh Road Parkway and other times at 605 Sycamore Street.
Mr. Parnell is survived by his mother, Daisy Parnell of Wilson; a sister, Linda Parnell of Wilson; two brothers, Elbert Steve Parnell and wife, Mable of Black Creek and Donnie Lee Parnell and wife, Jeanette of Wilson.
He was preceded in death by his father, Elbert Parnell; two sisters, Frances Parris and Brenda Sue Nordon.

Beulah Jacobs Sherrod
December 12, 1928 – January 29, 2012
Beulah Jacobs Sherrod, 83, of Bailey died Sunday at home surrounded by family and friends. funeral service will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Joyner’s Funeral Home, 4100 Raleigh Road Parkway. Burial will follow in Bailey Cemetery. The Rev. Reuben Cason and Pastor Timothy Deans will conduct the service.
The family will receive friends Wednesday from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the funeral home and other times at the residence.
Beulah was a loving mother and grandmother that will be missed and thought of often.
She is survived by her daughter, Judy Murray of Greensboro; son Charles Sherrod of Wilson; and daughter-in-law, Connie Sherrod of Bailey; grandsons Donald Sherrod and partner, John, of Greensboro, Chris Sherrod and wife, Beth, of Bailey, Michael Murray and wife, Blaire, of Silver Spring, Maryland; granddaughter, Tracey Johnson and husband, Joe, of Spring Hope; great grandchildren; Sarah, Joseph, Amanda, Bryan.
She was preceded in death by her husband Relmon Sherrod and her parents Lawrence E. and Emma Lee Jacobs; brother Luther Jacobs and sister Gladys Pitts.

Wanda Lou H. Lucas
August 25, 1938 – January 21, 2012
Wanda Lou Hinchey Lucas, 73, of Wilson died Saturday. Funeral services will be held at 7:00 p.m. Monday at Joyner’s Funeral Home, 4100 Raleigh Road Parkway. Graveside Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday at Evergreen Memorial Park. Major Fred Carver and Major Jim Waller of the Salvation Army will conducted both services.
The family will receive friends following the service.
She loved to work in her yard and to shop with her sister and brother-in-law. She loved the Lord and was a good Christian woman working with handicap people. She received a national award in Washington, DC for hiring handicaps. She was a great friend to others first, loving wife, loving mother and grandmother. She was an avid fisherman and won a State Championship Bowling Title in NC. She loved her brothers and sisters and loved to cook and loved to feed people and had many special friends. She was avid softball player and won numerous tournaments.
She is survived by her husband, Billy Ray Lucas, Sr. for 56 years; a daughter, Glenda Lou Lucas of Wilson; a son Billy Ray Lucas, Jr. and wife Kim of Wilson; six grandchildren; Nathan, Stella, Lucas, Traci, Randy Glen and Kristin; four great grandchildren; two sisters, Linda Musgrave and husband, Joe of Wilson and Endia Allen Spagnola of Petersburg, VA and a brother, Carl Hinchey and wife Judy of Wilson.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Willie Elwood Hinchey and Vicie Geneva Thorton Hinchey and five brothers.

Dorothy Griffin Barnes
August 30, 1920 – January 17, 2012
Dorothy Griffin Barnes, 91, of Orlando, Fla passed away January 17, 2012. Funeral services will be conducted 11a.m. Wednesday at Joyner’s Funeral Home. Pastor John Alexander will officiate. Interment will follow in Maplewood Cemetery.
The family will receive friends 10 – 11 a.m. Wednesday at Joyner’s Funeral Home, 4100 Raleigh Road Parkway.
Dorothy was born
August 30, 1920 in Durham, NC to Joseph James and Effie Smith Griffin. Dorothy was married to a North Carolina tobacco farmer. During World War II, she sewed military tents for soldiers. She enjoyed sewing and gardening. Her family said that she was most known for being a “Walking Bundle of Love”.
Surviving are her daughters and son-in-law, Dorothy Yvonne Austin of Edgewood Fla., and Mary Jean Webb (Johnny Ray) of Elm City; grandchildren, Glenn Austin (Frankie) of Oviedo, Fla., and Glenda Barnes (Robert) of Floral City, Fla.; great-grandsons, Steven and Edward Fleisher; and a sister, Jackie Zeltner (Chuck) of Boynton Beach, Fla.
