Cleo Godwin Hayes
September 2, 1926 – January 15, 2012
Cleo Godwin Hayes, 85, of Wilson died Sunday. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Joyner’s Funeral Home, 4100 Raleigh Road Parkway, conducted by The Rev. Jonas Larry Letchworth. Burial will follow in Evergreen Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends Thursday from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the funeral home.
She is survived by a daughter, Yvonne H. Mitchiner and husband, Hoke of Garner; two granddaughters, Tina Smith of Swansboro and Blake Vick of Kinston; a grandson Brent Hayes of Kinston; a great-granddaughter, Londyn Vick of Kinston; two great-grandsons, Jamie King of Kinston and Casey King of Swansboro; a sister Estelle Hill of Wilson; and a brother, Jimmie L. Godwin of Bailey.
She was preceded in death by her husband, A. Frank Hayes and a son, Bill Hayes.
In lieu of flowers memorials in her memory may be directed to Harmony FWB Church, 409 AC College Drive, Wilson NC 27893.
Louis Thurman Baker
December 17, 1926 – December 15, 2011
Louis Thurman Baker, 84, of Macclesfield died Thursday. Funeral services will be conducted at 6 p.m. Saturday at Victory Free Will Baptist Church. Graveside services with military honors will be held at 3:30 p.m. Sunday in Evergreen Memorial Park. The Rev. Wayne Whitley will officiate.
The family will receive friends Saturday at the church immediately following the service and other times at 7260 E. Langley Road, Elm City.
Mr. Baker was an honorable man. He loved his family and enjoyed his time playing canasta with them. He was a retired farmer. He retired from Swift after 20 years of service and retired from Hackney Brothers Body Company after 10 years of service.
Mr. Baker is survived by his wife of 57 years, Mattie Lee Page Baker; a daughter, Kimberly B. Hopkins and husband Mitch of Elm City; two sons, Randy Baker and wife, Lynda of Macclesfield, and Dwight Baker and wife, Jamie of Elm City; 13 grandchildren, Chris, Jermey, Clay, Stephen, Adam, Mark, Erick, Ben, Corey, Garrett, Nikki, Blair and Jordan; four great-grandchildren, Emma, Maddie, Nathan, and Jackson.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Leslie Albert Baker and Sarah Ethel Owens Baker; a daughter, Wanda Sue O’Conney; a son, Phillip Baker; one sister, and two brothers.

Mary Charlene Matthews Barnes
July 21, 1935 - December 20, 2011
Mary Charlene Matthews Barnes, 76, of Lucama died Tuesday. A graveside service will be conducted 2 p.m. Thursday in Evergreen Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends 12 – 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Joyner’s Funeral Home, 4100 Raleigh Road Parkway, and other times at 6061 Blalock Rd., Lucama.
Surviving are her daughter, Venice Jevonne Barnes of Lucama; her son, Ricky Daniel Mooring of Bailey; two granddaughters, Catina Charlene Smith and husband, Korey of Bethel and Stacy Lorraine Joyner of Lucama; one grandson, Ricky Dee Mooring and wife, Dawn of Port Charlotte, FL; five great-grandchildren; an aunt, Elizabeth Matthews of Lucama; and a special caregiver, Timothy Clay.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Billy Wilson Barnes, and her parents, Wiley Luther Matthews and Selma Lee Ham Matthews.

James Lincoln Justice
October 25, 1943 – December 30, 2011
James Lincoln Justice, 68, of Wilson died Friday. Graveside services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Pikeville Cemetery. The Rev. Clay Cordell will officiate.
He was employed with West Nash Grocery for a number of years.
Mr. Justice is survived by a sister, Margaret Gurley and husband, K.C. of Fremont; his best friend, Pam Strickland; one nephew, one niece; four great-nieces; one great-nephew, three aunts of Wilson, and his loving dog, Honey.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Monroe Lincoln Justice and Rachel Wiggins Justice; a niece, Wendy Gurley and his beloved dog, Popye.

Annie Mae Nordan Jackson
October 27, 1920 – February 4, 2012
Annie Mae Nordan Jackson, 91, of Smithfield, formerly of Wilson, died Saturday. Funeral services will be conducted 7 p.m. Monday at Joyner’s Funeral Home. The Rev. David Kimbrell will officiate. A graveside service will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday in the Evans-Watson Family Cemetery, Scott’s Church Rd., Lucama.
The family will receive friends Monday evening immediately following the service at Joyner’s Funeral Home, 4100 Raleigh Road Parkway and other times at 7554 Bakertown Rd., Elm City.
Surviving are four daughters, Jean Ann Baker and husband, Willis of Elm City, Faye Knapp of Smithfield, Judy Mooring of Eureka, and Rochelle Jackson of Princeton; one son, Richard “Dicky” Jackson of Clayton; sixteen grandchildren; twenty great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; a step-sister, Geraldine Moore of Lucama; a sister-in-law, Agnes Nordan of Lucama; and a number of nieces and nephews, including David Benson of Goldsboro.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James William Jackson; a son, James W. “Jimmy” Jackson Jr.; and two grandsons, John Alan Evans and Kenneth D. Pender.

Edith Pearson Bryant
April 9, 1931 – February 10, 2012
Edith Pearson Bryant, 80, of Bailey died Friday. Funeral services will be 7 p.m. Sunday at Joyner’s Funeral Home. A graveside service will be Monday at 2 p.m. in Bailey Cemetery. The Rev. T. Elwood Long will officiate at both services.
The family will receive friends Sunday after the service.
She is survived by a daughter, Linda Cheryl Powell and husband, Dave of Bailey; a granddaughter, Chrissy Gass and husband, Mark of Lucama; two great-grandchildren, Samantha Sinclair of Lucama and Hannah Gass of Lucama; a sister, Pattie P. Lewis of Wilson and a brother, Robie Pearson of Wilson. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Fred Bryant, her parents, Bartley Grady Pearson and Olar Lamm Pearson and several sisters and brothers.

Micheal Lloyd Price
April 7, 1947 – December 12, 2011
Micheal Lloyd Price, 64, of Wilson died Monday. Funeral Services will be 7 p.m. Thursday at Joyner’s Funeral Home, 4100 Raleigh Road Parkway. The Rev. Wayne King will officiate. Graveside side services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday in Evergreen Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends Thursday at the funeral home immediately following the service and at other times will be at the home.
Mike was born
in Johnston County April, 7, 1947 to the late J.T. and Ethel Price. He was the owner of M.L. Price Electric.
Mr. Price is survived by his wife, Kathryn Barnes Price; a daughter, Myra Price Weare and her husband, Chris; a granddaughter, Hadley Weare, and a grandson, Hudson Weare all of Wilmington; two sisters, Cathy Hicks and Connie Boyette both of Micro.
