M. Sherrill Hawley
June 18, 1942 - November 2, 2011
Mallie Sherrill Hawley, 69, of Elm City, died Wednesday. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday at Springhill Presbyterian Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The Rev. Sefton Strickland will officiate at both services.
The family will receive friends Friday from 7 – 9 p.m. at Joyner’s Funeral Home, 4100 Raleigh Road Parkway, Wilson and at other times will be at 4551 Upchurch Rd.
He enjoyed selling vegetables to all of his friends for many years.
Mr. Hawley is survived by three sons, Dennis Hawley, and wife, Sandy of Elm City, Ricky Hawley and wife, Rhonda of Sims and Stanley Hawley and wife, Valerie of Bailey; six grandchildren, Tyler, Brittany, Taylor, Caroline, Kayla and Allie; two sisters, Jo Anne Poole and husband, Tom of Goldsboro, and Brenda Cannon and husband, Charlie of Sims; and a brother, Tony Hawley of Kenly.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Sarah Hawley; his parents, Mallie and Flossie Hawley; and two brothers, Ricky Nelson Hawley and Roger Dale Hawley.
Arrangements are by Joyner’s Funeral Home, 4100 Raleigh Road Parkway.
Bessie Tedder Boykin
February 15, 1915 – November 2, 2011
Bessie Tedder Boykin, 96, of Wilson passed away Wednesday, November 2, at Wilson Medical Center. A memorial service will be held in Evergreen Memorial Park Friday, November 4, at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Ed Earp officiating. The family will receive friends at the graveside immediately following the service and other times at 4601 St. Andrews Drive, Wilson.
Mrs. Boykin is survived by her son, Stephen Earl Boykin and wife, Faye C. Boykin of Wilson; a daughter, Vickie B. Foreman and husband, Allen H. Foreman of Md.; three grandchildren, Sloane B. Brooks and husband, L. Howard Brooks, Jr. of Raleigh, Brian S. Foreman and wife, Christy K. Foreman of Md., Kevin A. Foreman of Va.; three great-grandchildren, Leslie Grace Brooks, Leonard Howard Brooks, III, and Sara Heath Brooks.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Stephen Plummer Boykin; three children, Peggy Ann Boykin, Margie Gray Boykin, and an infant son; her parents, William Thomas Tedder and Lori Flowers Nichols Tedder.
A founding member of Cedar Grove Baptist Church, Mrs. Boykin served as church historian for many years. Affectionately called Mama B or just plain “B”, she enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, as well as several nieces, nephews, and special friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Cedar Grove Baptist Church, c/o Jerry O. Howell, 5235-A NC W. 42 Hwy, Wilson, NC 27893.

John Clifford Cullom, Jr.
January 10, 1948 – October 30, 2011
John Clifford Cullom, Jr., 63, of Wilson died Sunday. The family will receive friends 6 - 8 p.m. Saturday at Joyner’s Funeral Home, 4100 Raleigh Road Parkway.
Mr. Cullom is survived by a son, Jesse Chance Cullom of Wilson; a stepson, Stephan Ray Grimes of Wendell; a step-granddaughter, Stephanie Michelle Grimes and a step-grandson, Tristan Michael Grimes.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Brenda Janette Overstreet; his parents, John Clifford Cullom, Sr., and Sallie Rowe Lucas Cullom.

Belvia Joanne Newton Richardson
September 23, 1938 – October 29, 2011
Belvia Joanne Newton Richardson, 73, of Wilson died Saturday. A funeral service will be held 7 p.m. Tuesday at Joyner’s Funeral Home, 4100 Raleigh Road Parkway. A graveside service will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday in Bethlehem Cemetery, Sims. The Rev. Ray Wells will officiate at both services.
Mrs. Richardson is survived by three sons. Jim Richardson of Wilson, Josh Richardson and wife, Teresa of Lucama, and Jerome Richardson of Wilson; a grand son, Chuck Daniels; a great- grand daughter, Savanah Daniels; and a special friend, Susan Neal at Avante at Wilson.
She was preceded in death by her husband; Joseph Lee Richardson; parents Mack Newton and Gladys Williams Barnes; and a brother, Ronnie Barnes.
The family will receive friends immediately following the service and at other times the family will be at 5070 Weaver Road.

Danny Ray Reeder
October 12, 1938 – October 27, 2011
Danny Ray Reeder, 73, of Wilson died peacefully at his home on Thursday. The family will receive friends 2-4 p.m. Sunday at Joyner’s Funeral Home, 4100 Raleigh Road Parkway, Wilson. At other times the Reeder family will be at 3919 Rasberry Drive, Wilson.
Danny was a veteran of the United States Air Force, having served in Okinawa. He was employed in the glass manufacturing business for 40 years and was retired from Saint Gobain. He was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
He is survived by his wife, Angie Galloway Reeder; three sons, Craig Reeder and wife, Lisa of Farmland, IN, Justin Bissette and wife, Denise of Wilmington, and Josh Bissette and wife, Candice of Sims; three grandchildren, Danielle Reeder, Cody Lawson, and Tyler Bissette; two sisters, Janet Capps and husband, Johnny of Prue, OK, and Judy Kay Williams of Broken Arrow, OK; one brother, Floyd Wesley Reeder of Huntsville, AR.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Floyd and Myrtle Blount Reeder.

Clyde Preston Ellis, Jr.
October 16, 1959 – October 26, 2011
Clyde Preston Ellis, Jr., 52, of Kinston died Wednesday. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday at Joyner’s Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Maplewood Cemetery. The Rev. Wayne Whitley will officiate.
The family will receive friends 1 – 2 p.m. Saturday at Joyner’s Funeral Home, 4100 Raleigh Road Parkway, Wilson and other times at 6413 Gardners School Road, Stantonsburg.
He was a former police officer for 20 years with the City of Kinston.
Mr. Ellis is survived by his wife, Laurie Woodard Ellis of Kinston; two sons, Joshua Preston Ellis of Colo., and Peyton James Ellis of Kinston; his mother, Ellen McKeel Ellis of Wilson; a sister, Betty Ellis Baker and husband, Alan of Wilson; a niece, Alison Baker Ford and husband, Shawn of Wilson and a nephew, Al Baker and wife, Robin, of Wilson.
He was preceded in death by his father, Clyde Preston Ellis.

Carolyn Hawley Glasgow
June 16, 1943 – October 24, 2011
Carolyn Hawley Glasgow, 68, of Wilson died Monday. Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Thursday at Joyner’s Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Evergreen Memorial Park. The Rev. Ronald Hawley, the Rev. Gene Wells and the Rev. Forest Porter will officiate.
The family will receive friends 6 – 8 p.m. Wednesday at Joyner’s Funeral Home, 4100 Raleigh Road Parkway and other times at the home of Joyce and Johnny Ipock, 6196 Golden Pond Road, Elm City.
Mrs. Glasgow is survived by her husband, Stanley Glasgow; a daughter, Lori G. Robbins and husband, Richard of Wilson; a son, Michael B. Glasgow and wife, Janet of Rocky Mount; four grandchildren; Ashley Robbins and Tanner Robbins of Wilson, Adrienne Troutman of Asheboro and Melissa Howard of Nashville; three great-grandchildren, Jackson and Ethan Troutman of Asheboro and Colin Howard of Nashville; and a sister, Joyce H. Ipock and husband, Johnny of Elm City.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Clemon and Lucille Hawley.
